Fresh coffee roasted here. You can see the roaster behind a window. The baristas are friendly and will make you another drink if you don't like yours. Definitely a small town hole in the wall coffee shop. Free wireless internet. A few chairs and tables if you want to hang out. Atmosphere is very laid back, what you would expect for a ski town. Bottom line is the shop is ok, coffee is great, ultimately I come for the coffee so this gets 5 stars from me. read more

Awful experience. The staff is very rude. Today I stopped here to grab a quick drink and I saw a few locals hanging out in front waiting for their orders. They did not have masks on so i figured since it was outside and everyone was distanced apart It was fine to go without. I waited about 5 or so min for the barista to come to the to go window ... when she did she rudely asked if I had a mask and was pretty quick to say " no mask, no service".... AS SHE WAS HANDING THE LOCALS WITHOUT MASKS THEIR DRINKS!!! I would have gladly gone back to my car and put my mask on had she not been so rude and held a double standard. I called to speak with the owner later in the day and he all but called me a liar. Telling me that "she has never been rude to customers before" and that he would look into it while noting that he had audio and video footage..again... acting like he didn't believe me. I should note that I have been there in the past two weeks when the barista + customers were not wearing masks! If I could give zero stars I would. I will not be returning. read more

Nice little coffee shop in a nice little town. If you're passing through, definitely swing by. Most importantly the coffee was good! I would have liked to see more sweet/baked treats, but I know that's not what everyone looks for at cafes. What also stands out in my mind about this place is the decor. It's decorated with lots of funky props and things. There are also chairs and tables so I imagine they encourage people to linger. read more

This is a wonderfully local coffee shop in the heart of Girdwood, just minutes away from resort areas. It is small and relaxed, with local coffee, big comfy couches and fun decor. The barista was helpful, and brewed a fresh pot of coffee, which is serve-yourself and located at the counter. They offered both soy and almond milk and had a variety of specialty drinks and espresso available. Pre-made sandwiches were available, as well as muffins, fruit and (store bought) bagels. This is definitely a hole-in-the-wall shop, but met my need for coffee, a bathroom and free wi-fi. read more

Best cappuccino I've had in months and such a great surprise in such an out of the way location. Great for apres ski before heading back to Anchorage. I would even recommend this place for travelers on the highway between Anchorage and Seward or Homer...worth the detour. read more

Decent place to get coffee. Helpful and friendly staff. But this place is L.O.U.D. I came in to have a meeting and had a very hard time hearing my clients. Seems like a hangout place. Which I can understand since it's in Girdwood. however; people also come here to study and work - as it's a coffee house. Should be a little more quiet of a place. Prices are typical Alaska - $9.00 for a juice and plain bagel. Would have a higher rating but the chairs are horribly uncomfortable, and the place has a musty smell. As well as a LOT of flies. My family got Coffee and said it was decent. Next time I have a meeting here, I think I'll sit in my car and use the wifi to be more comfortable. Overall wouldn't recommend it. read more

Such a cool little shop! I've been coming in for years whenever I pass through, usually on my way to somewhere on the Kenai. Great coffee, cool staff, awesome and quirky items all over the place! We even found a Krampus for our Christmas tree here. Never mind the outlier negative reviews. Some people just want to complain. read more

Stopped by today to warm up with a cup of hot tea after it started pouring on me during my hike through the Girdwood rain forests. Tea cost $2.25, and the only offered Twinings and Stash teas, a bit pricey, but this is AK, and everything costs more. The guy at the counter was friendly enough, and I did enjoy all the funky gifts in the shop. But the used books were all $5.00, and there were a bunch of bad old books in there. I love collecting old books, but their collection was pretty rough. I did enjoy browsing through some old Nat Geos while I was sipping on my tea, listening to the locals commentary and gossip. I'll definitely stop by again, and try the coffees. read more

Found this little coffee spot while on our first ever trip to Alaska. The young lady there was super helpful, we got two lattes and a hot chocolate plus very tasty apple pastry and muffin to take with us on our drive up Crow Creek. Fun spot and we even got some souvenirs to take home. The coffee was delicious, hot chocolate hit the spot for our littler one and we loved the feel of this place. The underfunded 70's public library vibe is gone, the place got a makeover. It is a spot where one can go and hear commentary from the locals, catch up on what is going on, escape the cold, work on your laptop, and of course get a good cup of coffee. They have live music on Mondays and other times for special events. There have been many times I have thought "only in Girdwood" as I sit and converse with the locals. The Grind is a vital part of the Girdwood community and a great place to pick up a cup of coffee. read more
