AMAZING! I drove all the way from Garden City [almost an hour away from the location] just so I could take my Maine coon cat here. And I will say, it's absolutely worth it! From the moment we walked in, my cat was greeted by a loving, and caring staff. Honestly, as a cat owner I am obsessed with my cat and shall I dare say that they are more obsessed with him than I am lol. They were considerate enough to ask that I bring in my cat litter in the afternoon, because they would have less dogs there. His groomer, Melissa, was absolutely amazing in informing us about the ways how we are to care for our main coon post grooming for his coat and skin type. Unlike other places where I've been, they don't price gouge with unfair upcharges, additional fees nor do they push you to make a return visit. Honestly just good people who love what they do and take awesome care of your pets. I feel 1000% comfortable leaving my Maine coon in their care and he came out fluffed and puffed and perfect when I picked him up. I have to tell you about The Groomery and their commitment of love for animals. I made an appointment for my Bichon to get groomed over the weekend. While my Francis Albert is getting prepped, I noticed a beautiful dog in the corner. I asked the owner, who's dog is that? She says, aw the poor thing. The past owner couldn't take care of him so we're taking care of him and looking for someone to adopt him. (Wheels start turning) Over the years, I've seen cages outside in the parking lot. The Groomery has connections with kill shelters and other rescue puppy mills to find dogs homes. They really love animals! I tell her, when I pick up my dog I'll also adopt the other dog. I brought the dog home, what a sweet dog! All the dog wanted was love and to belong to a family. I took him for a walk at my local park over the weekend, the dog was so happy he was bouncing! When I first took my two dogs to the groomery they took good care of them. Melissa communicated well and listened to what I wanted and I was very happy. Little by little the care was beginning to decline. She never came out to speak to me anymore. I just told the girls upfront what I wanted which was the same every time but with inconsistent results. I had to remind her every single appointment that my girl was sensitive because often she'd end up with razor rash, a cut or an ear infection. She credited me once when I had to shell out money to the vet for the ear infection. But the last time was absolutely heartbreaking. When doing the sanity area she cut and burned my dogs anus with her buzzer. Even after showing her photos there was no compensation and I was charged full price. She apologized but I did not feel comfortable taking my dogs to her anymore. She never came out to speak to me. In the year since I've found someone new I have never had any issues with my dogs and I feel stupid that I went back to her over and over again. read more

Absolutely disappointed!!! They did my Shih Tzu Groom last Friday, and when I picked him up, I noticed he was scratching too much! So I checked him. Terrible! He got TICKS!! Four days later I'm still dealing with them, taking care of my poor dog. He is always inside the house, he never had anything like that. The staff is very friendly, the place is very clean, and my dog absolutely loved being there. She got a bath, cut, nails clipped, and the works. My dog's first appt. went well. However, on the second visit my dog's ear was nicked and the owner was not concerned enough to even call to see how he was doing. Also, before telling me my dog had been cut, her assistant took the fee plus a 20% tip, then the owner called me in to explain what had occurred. I understand this could happen, but the uncaring attitude of the owner and the fact collecting the fee was more important than letting me know there had been an incident will have me looking for a more compassionate groomer. read more

I brought my dog to The Groomery for the first time on Sunday because my former groomer closed and recommended this place. My dog received a great hair cut - he looks great and the groomer Melissa, followed all of my instructions (I had brought my own dog shampoo and conditioner for the groomer to use)...HOWEVER, I may not ever take my dog back there. When I got there to bring the dog for his appointment, the girl in the front (a receptionist??) seemed annoyed that I had questions and kept looking at her phone. It made me so uncomfortable that I even debated about leaving the dog. It made me feel better when she told me she was NOT the groomer, so I left. I received a call to pick up my dog about 3 hours later and when I got to the shop no one was in the front. I called "Hello" a number of times until the same girl came out. Again, she was very rude, continually looking at her phone, and I thought maybe I was being overly sensitive...however, another customer came in to pick up her dog and received the same treatment. I paid for the service...still not seeing my dog...and waited another 10 minutes or so before the groomer bought him out. She handed him to me and immediately went into the back. I had to ask the receptionist to return my shampoo and conditioner and she went into the back to retrieve them - but not before rolling her eyes like it was a chore. This is a new location and I am a new customer - I shouldn't feel as if grooming my dog was a chore or a nuisance. read more

Place is disgusting, horrible smell, completely unsanitary. Add that to the fact they completely ignored my request for my puppys hair cut and mangled my beautiful shiranian. Haircut is uneven and was done carelessly. Will never return to this nightmare of a groomer. May alert the board of health. read more

We've tried a few different groomers in the area, and none compete with The Groomery. We have a small Boston Terrier, so it's pretty easy for them to give him a cleaning. But when we go, we like to see the other animals they have (blue, pink, green, striped). My dog seems to love going there too. He's always eager to get in the door, and wags his butt (his 'tail' is too short to actual wag) in excitement each time. It's usually pretty busy, so be sure to call in advance and make an appointment. I haven't used them for boarding for my dog though, and I'm not sure that I would. The room has a wall of crates which is fine if it's just before/after their grooming, but the room isn't really where I'd like to keep my dog for a long period of time. They do always have dogs walking around, maybe those are the boarding dogs? read more

Never Again, I love my usual groomer but this place was near my home and I read good reviews so I figured I'd give them a shot so I brought my dog there. I want to say Melissa did no do the groom, someone else in the shop did. I specifically told them I just wanted him to have a trim/clean up and to "keep him fluffy". I even went so far as to show her a picture of what he looked like after his last groom and I said "I want him to look just like this. Use the second longest clipper attachment, less is more with him so keep him fluffy. I don't mind brushing him more if I have to just make sure he stays full and fluffy" She said OK. They called me 4 hours later and when I picked him up he had a puppy cut!! I'm not sure exactly what part of "keep him fluffy" or the photo she didn't understand but I will never go back. She just disregarded everything I said and did what she wanted! Now I have to wait at least 2 months for him to grow in so I can go back to my old groomer to fix this! At least my usual groomer listens to her customers. Perhaps if Melissa did the groom there would be a different story but I'll never know. Oh well, live and learn I guess. So if you like puppy cuts I guess they're fine but if you like your dog with any sort of style, look elsewhere. read more

I took my beautiful, long haired, Bernese Mountain Dog, Ozzy, to The Groomery based not just on reviews, but a 45 minute in person conversation I had with the owner, Melissa We discussed exactly what I wanted and what is required for this breed. She was going to do the work herself. Wash, dry, sanitaries, and a light trim in his bib/chest area. Well, when my wife and I picked him up, we didn't even know it was him. They shaved him and all his long locks and feathers from head to tail. What did you do to my Dog? This is not what a Bernese is supposed to look like. I'm blown away. My wife is speechless. They just went ahead and did whatever the heck they wanted without any consideration for what we discussed and the breed. Additionally, he smells like a combination of cheap store bought shampoo and bathroom cleaner. We've been spraying him with Puppy perfume because I cant stand the stench of disinfectant. We will never go here again, and certainly would never recommend them to anyone. Brutal. read more

I tried many other groomers in the city but all were twice as expensive and most my dog left terrified and with a bad cut no less. All of the staff have been extremely courteous to me and kind to my dog. They are always busy, a sign of good business. Even with so much business and having their hands full, they seem to like what they do and they treat all the dogs very well. My dog has slight anxiety, but when I go to pick her up after her grooming she is calm and happy, clean and fresh smelling. That's really all I can ask for. They charged me $80 (not including tips) to groom my cat the first time, the second time they wanted to charge me more until I told them they charged me $80 not too long ago. $80 is already very expensive compared to other places, they charged me more than other customers I've talked to who've gone there.. When I made the appointment they wanted me to wait a month, said they were booked till then. The month passed, I took off from work to take my cat in, and when the day came they told me they didnt have any appointment penciled in for my cat. I told them I would double check my calendar and call back and I kept getting the answering machine. when I did call back. I suspect the girls who work there dont much enjoy work. or particular work, or bump customers for others who are willing to pay more. Since I took the day off work, I suppose I will just groom the cat myself with my old whaler and buy some dry cat shampoo, and save the money. read more
