This place is always packed but for good reason. They offer a huge drink menu with lots of different flavors - I came for a matcha latte with guava syrup. It was almost $10, which is a little crazy even with today's coffee prices, but absolutely worth it. The matcha flavor was strong and not bitter (rare to find in Philly!), the guava syrup was so delicious and not artificial tasting, and the drink overall wasn't overwhelmingly sweet. Don't think I could justify paying this much for a drink on a regular basis, but for a treat I would absolutely return read more

My truth is I don't like The Ground's espresso, but I'll keep going back because their specialty lattes are that good. For me, it tastes burnt, but I almost don't care. Now could I just stop getting espresso based drinks? Yes. Me not loving my drink is almost always my fault, but I'm okay with that. Like I said, their specialty drinks are awesome and rotate every couple weeks. The space is SO cool with a fun little plant focused gift shop up front and a few tables in the back. The staff is lovely and the prices are what you expect for center city, about 8 bucks for a latte with non diary milk. read more

Headed over for an afternoon pick me up and there was a short line. There is an okay amount of seating near the front counter area and in the back behind an array of plants. It had pretty green walls and so many cute plants as well as accessories for sale on the sides. Matcha Latte with Rose Pistachio Syrup - They had a variety of syrups you can choose from to add to the matcha latte base. We opted for the rose pistachio flavor which had a nice pistachio flavor that came through and a strong matcha base. Overall from the aesthetic interior to the tasty drink, we really enjoyed the matcha and the variety of flavor options to choose from. read more

I ordered the TBAT (turkey bacon, arugula and tomato with mayo and strawberry gochujang drizzle) and the hot hojicha latte with almond milk and a pump of gingerbread syrup. To be honest, I wasn't a fan of the drink. Even though, I smelled a little cinnamon sprinkled on top, I didn't taste any of the spices or gingerbread flavor in my drink so I felt the pump of gingerbread syrup didn't make much of a difference and it also was an extra charge. Not only that, but I didn't taste much of the hojicha tea flavor. Even though the menu mentioned they used premium hojicha in their lattes, my drink tasted a bit watered down (which might also be due to almond milk). However, I really enjoyed my TBAT sandwich. The croissant was super flaky and fresh and the strawberry gochujang drizzle added a nice sweetness to my salty sandwich. I also enjoyed the arugula and tomato since it added freshness and balanced out the saltiness of my turkey bacon. I would come back again for the TBAT or to try another sandwich (like one of their all day breakfast sandwiches). :) Overall, the space is pretty cute and there are plants and pots that you can buy in the front. The seating is quite limited (first come, first serve seating) and since this place is popular, the friendly cashier mentioned that I should put my bag down first to save my seat, before ordering (when I asked if I could sit and dine in). read more

A friend recommend we check this place out for an afternoon pick me up, and I am so glad we did! It's so cute inside and has seating indoors and outdoors. There's also a lot of charming things for sale including candlesticks and plants galore. The cashier was very friendly and patient with us. We ordered the mango matcha drink (very cool, I had never had this combo before) and it didn't disappoint! It was very tasty and the mango didn't taste artificial nor did it taste overly sweet. The drinks were ready in less than five minutes. There was a line when we arrived but it moved quickly. I love that they sell one of my favorite tea brands (Harney and Sons) and they had a huge number of fall themed drinks as well as food. I would come back to try one of those. read more

We ordered a couple breakfast sandwiches and coffee to go from The Ground during a recent trip to Philly. This is definitely your trendy coffee shop and if you're looking for more traditional breakfast sandwiches, you probably won't find that here. Everything is pretty creative. At the time, they didn't seem to offer any classic bacon, egg and cheese options although now it looks like they offer something called "the basic bill" which features turkey bacon, egg and cheese. They don't offer regular pork bacon here. I opted for the "Oh mommy", an umami egg sandwich to which I added turkey bacon and gluten free bread. It was just okay. Definitely a very fishy, umami taste. The coffee was pretty good though. Would I return? Probably not but it's not a bad option if you need a quick bite. read more

DRINKS I visited on a Saturday morning around 8:30am, and there was no line. I tried their ice cream coffee, one of their specialty lattes containing red guava puree supposedly reminiscent of ice cream. I'll have to disagree on it tasting like ice cream, but the drink is unique and very flavorful. It's a solid guava latte, but not as advertised. FOOD A myriad of pastry items and sandwiches are available for purchase. The kitchen is open daily from 8am-4pm, but the store is open until 7pm. SERVICE The staff are kind and friendly. AMBIANCE The interior is styled in maximalist, plant-themed decor, and the various knick-knacks (from candles, to puzzles, to souvenirs) are available to purchase. Inside, there is counter and table seating in the front and back of the store, and outside, there are 3-4 tables for two. There is a no laptop policy on weekends, so just be wary of that if you're looking to do some work! PARKING Paid street parking is available at a limited capacity. read more

The inside is so cute! I love their drink options too, lots of unique signature drinks to choose from. I tried the ice cream latte which said they combine red guava with espresso which cuts out the bitterness and tastes like ice cream. It just tasted kinda fruity which isn't bad but not what I was expecting. The chocolate strawberry latte was way better. Nice and sweet and perfectly encapsulated the chocolate strawberry flavor. Also the cups they use are cute and something different. I'd definitely come back to try more or honestly get another chocolate strawberry latte! read more

This place is sooo cute! Lots of garden themed things with lots of plants inside. My friend and I ordered two signature drinks. I got a mango latte (forgot what it was really called lol) but it was beautiful and refreshing! Its awesome that I could have a strong taste of fresh mango and coffee at the same time. [Out-of-Towner Review] Come for the vibe, stay for the ambiance. I have to admit, I was attracted to the very IG-able vibe, but it lives up to it's greens-loving, caffeine slangin' photogenic aesthetic. I will say, I'm pretty bummed they don't serve soy milk. But I did get to have a good convo about it with the barista. Quick, but delightful convo. Due to no soy, I kept it simple with an iced coffee + simple syrup. Nothing too crazy, yet simple. I enjoyed the coffee. I was enamored by the plants and planters. I was also gawking at all the tchotchkes to buy. So many good gift ideas, but I was traveling with no space in my luggage. They had minimal indoor seating at the back and at the side of the counter at the front. They also have a few tables and chairs on the outside. I didn't get any food, because I grabbed Kismet bagels just before I stopped in here. Ideal spot for a great breakfast combo! If you're an out of towner like me, you're likely to stop in because of the Yelp rating and reviews. That would be justified. I did see some locals stop in, but many were grab-n-go folks, not many setting up shop for the long haul. I'm glad I stopped in and enjoyed the greenhouse aesthetic and wished I had space for a few items, but I know I will be back in the future. Greens and caffeine, yes please! read more

The menu at this place is HUGE! They have so many unique drink combinations, so make sure you take your time looking through. As always, I ordered my Cherry Pie Latte half sweet, and it was perfect. There isn't a ton of indoor seating, but the proximity to Rittenhouse Square means you can enjoy your items with the views of the park. Pastries are from Au Fornil, which are always a hit, but I do want to come back to try some of their food menu! Don't forget to pick up a plant or three on your way out. They have some gift items too that are adorable! read more

A few highs and lows with this one. Starting with the good, their atmosphere is great and the coffee itself was as well. The place is flowing in plants and almost has a dollhouse athstetic. We went with the chinimon toast coffee and it was pretty good. It was sweet but not too sweet and the chinimon went well with the coffee they chose. While none of these are deel breakers, there were some things to note. The line was out the door, they only use plastic even is you stay, and its a bit on the pricy side. All that being said I still see why people go here. read more

Love their drink selection! They have all the go tos with coffee, tea, chai and matcha + specialities that you can mix into whatever you're craving. I had a strawberry matcha and it was delicious! Great strawberry flavor that lasted the entire drink. My partner got "the nicest latte" which had vanilla and cinnamon in it, it tasted like Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal milk on the best way. The vibe of this coffee shop is what made me want to stop in and try it. I loved all the plants and small things they sell inside besides the coffee itself. As far as my matcha latte I got, I'm very picky on what qualifies as a great matcha. I am still on the search in Philly of what is the best place. This is a cute spot to grab a coffee and some breakfast. My latte was delicious -on the sweeter side but that's what I was looking for. I got the croissant/waffle with the dulce de leche sauce on top. That was great too; it was the perfect combo of crunchy and fluffy. They have a seating area in the back, but they were not serving prepared food when I was there. History of Present Indulgence: We were in Philly with some friends for a work-related trip and needed a place for breakfast and coffee near our hotel. We tried The Ground Rittenhouse one morning and ended up going back every day because it was just that good. Physical Exam: Food - The sandwiches are the real stars here--you can't go wrong with any of them. The Oh Mommy, Oh Daddy, Basic Bill, and the breakfast burrito are all five stars in my book. On the coffee side, they have great coffee as a baseline. I usually stick to black coffee, but their specialty lattes like the pumpkin spice, apple pie, and pecan pie are worth a try. My one gripe is that the apple pie latte had a gritty texture, likely due to undissolved cinnamon powder. Service - Friendly and efficient :) Ambiance - A cozy and intimate space that doubles as a plant shop, giving it a natural, green immersion. Seating is limited, but we always managed to find a spot. It's comfortable and inviting, the kind of place you want to linger. Assessment/Plan: The Ground Rittenhouse is easily one of my favorite coffee shops ever. With excellent sandwiches, creative specialty drinks, and a warm, plant-filled ambiance, it's a must-visit if you're in Philly. Highly recommend stopping by multiple times like we did! read more

Wow. This place is beautiful. Along with a myriad of drinks is a huge selection of great items... tarot cards, plants, greeting cards and so much more! I read for over an hour here and delighted in a a matcha drink. This place is gorgeous and inviting. I was in Center City, Philly today and stumbled upon this really amazing coffee, plant, and gift shop. It was really busy. The place was very eclectic. It's filled with plants, cards and other items. There is a dining space in the back as well as chairs and stools at the counter. There is also sidewalk seating. The line was out the door, but it moved quickly. I was unsure what to get, so the owner, Michelle, was kind enough to suggest the BLEED GREEN tea in honor of the 2025 Super Bowl Champs, The Philadelphia Eagles. The tea was very refreshing. Green tea is not typically flavorful, but the kiwi puree and green apple Boba blended well together. It's definitely worth a try. This is a really nice spot with a unique interior. There are plants available for sale and add to the ambience of the cozy, cafe. There is also a unique drink and food selection. I got the chocolate covered strawberry latte which was delightful. The syrups are homemade which I love. It actually tasted like a chocolate covered strawberry. The sauce had small chunks of strawberries with the mocha. The drink paired really well with the sandwich. It had a flavorful, umami taste with thick egg, tomato and cheese. I would have preferred another type of cheese since I'm not a fan of American. It's worth trying if you do. read more

Not only is this cafe beautiful but they have amazing lattes! I have been here multiple times and always enjoy my time here. Seating is limited but never an issue as a lot of people take their drinks to go. I love their collection of plants, pots and candles - they also have games and other knick knacks that you would make cool gifts for any occasion! We are a small, locally owned and operated coffee, house plant, bubble tea shop, and cafe that also sells small gifts. Founded in 2021 this Rittenhouse location is the second one for the Ground team. We are thrilled to be here! We will be providing extended hours and menu items soon as we come out of our soft opening phase.

We were cold, we were tired and I had to use a restroom ASAP. Luckily, Peddler Coffee was only a few feet away to relieve my bladder from its misery. Of course, we got some drinks. They're highly related on all review sites. They have baked products, coffee-based drinks and tea. They have seasonal drinks. You can get drinks hot or iced, small or large - simple! No tall, grande, venti and whatever! Maple Spice Latte: Tasty and quite unique. A flavor you won't normally find a commercial coffee houses. 4/5 Cinnamon Dolce Latte: Comforting especially on a cold autumn afternoon. 4/5 Service was great. There was only one barista but he was fast and efficient.

I don't think I've ever visited an an hour where I've seen it not. Often a line going from the counter, down the stairs, all the way to the bathroom. If you're looking for a quick coffee stop, don't expect to be in and out of here. That being said, they've got some kinds of seating not typical of coffee shops, including this nice long U-shaped couch seating. You'll be around with other folks reading or enjoying their joe, but it's a nice change of pace. Working-wise, wi-fi is solid. Outlets are sparse. Hard to stay a long time here. Music is at least at a tolerable level to tune out and is not usually too bumping. Staff here are quick, but won't be the friendliest. They won't be rude either. They're just trying to get through the line so don't take it personally Overall: would much prefer other places like Capital One Cafe for the reasons I visit cafes, but I can see this being a nice place for other more leisurely-natured visits!

Parking is on the street. Mild noise level. They have a good amount of drink options, including rotating specials, as well as pastries, bread, and misc items like granola and coffee beans. The drinks are delicious - definitely recommend their matcha. The pastries are huge, flavorful, and filling. Slightly dry but I did go right before closing. They have a nice variety of flavors (both sweet and savory), so most palettes will be satisfied. Prices are definitely fair. If I weren't just a traveler passing through, this would easily become a regular spot for me. It's at least on the "must return to" list! 10/10 recommend.

We braved negative degree weather for the roughly 10 minute walk from our hotel. We walked in at a good time. This is the type of place where a reservation for breakfast would be required. We were sat immediately. The dining area is tight. A green velvet bench, marble tables, metal chairs, all packed into a small area. You could very well have your butt brush over the table of the patrons next to you if you have to get up for any reason. It's tight. Our server was around quickly. He was super friendly and kept things conversational, light and sophisticated. My wife ordered an iced latte, I had their hot drip coffee. For a starter, we had to try the cinnamon knot bread. While it wasn't what we were expecting, it was good. Although, we wouldn't order again. The bread is presented as a small loaf, room temperature with a cold cream cheese icing drizzled over top. The bread had a mild cinnamon flavor and was dry. It lacked the sweet, moist dough you expect from a cinnamon bread. My wife ordered the French style omelet. This had gruyere cheese and chives. Beautifully plated, perfectly cooked and the taste was spot on. It was good enough to forget that she paid $21 for just an omelet, no meat, no sides. I ordered the Eggs Benedict. Pretty standard here. The eggs had bright orange yolks which is common for farm fresh eggs. The "coffee" hollandaise didn't come across with a coffee flavor but it was rich and went well with the ham and English muffins. One thing that stuck with me was their drip coffee. Not sure if it has been a while since I had a light roast but the Rival Bros. Revolver coffee was so good, I got a bag of whole beans to bring back home with me. I may even order it again online. Enswell succeeded on all fronts. The ambiance and service was great. The decor, impeccable. The food, thoughtful and tasty. The details from the silverware to the plates added to the experience. We would come back.

I enjoyed the hot chocolate. It was rich, smooth and perfect comfort in the morning on the go. The customer service was also great! They were friendly, helpful and welcoming. I had two iced lattes during my stay and the service was quick. I also was able to get soy milk which is my preference but it is not as common as nut milk-alternatives. Although technically not a part of the cafe, the fact that it's located inside the hotel means there's lots of comfortable seating available around the lobby. Rght across from the cafe there's a fantastic lounge area with a pool table and a collection of books. I don't think anyone would use the books in the library and they're mostly decorative, but I did think it was cute. The menu is adorable - it's a giant scroll on the wall and had some Philly-themed artwork. I would go back just to see if they change up the artwork.
