Would not recommend. I was originally scheduled for an estimate on 2/4/23 and was asked if I could reschedule for the next day due to unforeseen circumstances. On 2/5/23 not only did I have to ask if they were nearby, but they did not respond to the text. Therefore I had to call to speak to someone only to hear why they could maybe make it by later. This could of been rescheduled had they had the courtesy to let me know this before the scheduled appointment. I had to listen to their excuses but I guess it doesn't matter how it affects my family and day planned around them. read more

Here is the grout doctors work! We asked him to re-grout our countertops and they came over with paint. They didn't even clean the grout that was full of mold, which was our main reason for hiring them, they just decided to paint over it. (You can see the mold coming through the paint on the third picture.) To make things worst they didn't even finish the job and left us paint for us to finish their work. Aside from that they painted over the tile, not just the grout. A month later it started peeling! read more

Usually we call companies by words of mouth. First time I called a company from an add in a Home Magazine. The Grout Doctor advertize full page with satisfaction guaranteed. Mr. Elliot showed up to do an estimate. He quoted a full day labor for two people. We agreed on the price and set a date. When the day comes first worker shows up at 10.30 am, second one arrived at 1.30 pm and both left at 4.00 pm. To me that a one person day of labor. After cleaning I found quite a bit of discrepancies and let Mr. Elliot know by text. It's the end of February now and we are still getting the run around. Many message's unanswered and no shows as promised without communication. Found the same reviews afterwards and will definitely not recommend this company to anybody. read more

Very disappointing. I was recommended this company by my contractor who is doing some remodeling in my home. Received a call and set an appointment between 5-6pm for a few days later for an estimate. 5:30pm I get a text only stating "Hi the grout doctor will not be able to make it today". No call, nor a call even days later nothing to even try to reset with me. Moving on to find another company, terrible customer service from the start and I wouldn't hire them to change a light bulb at this point. read more

My white wash (saltillo) mexican tile was restored to it's original beauty like the day it was first installed. They were here for 2 days. They cleaned, filled holes and painted all the grout lines through out the house. Then put 4 coats of glaze. My husband was stunned when he saw the completed job. It was a face lift for my floors. I met several other people but I chose to use the Grout Doctor because of the presentation and the good talk that the owner Elliott Gerstein did when I first met him. However, that is all he did: a good talk. The quality of work is poor and not even close to what he explained to me during our meetings and what I was expecting. My floors looks even worse than before. Don't believe the pictures he posts in resource living magazine. The floor will never look like that. I have tried to contact several times Mr. Gerstein by text and phone call and he does not answer nor replied back. One of the reasons he has "why grout doctor" in uppercase letters "100% SATISFACTION GUARANTEED" does not means anything to him because he doesn't call you back. read more

Extremely rude and unprofessional ! First contact : call me after 5 and will tell you when I m available ! Called after 5 same day , nobody answering the phone ! Second day texting Elliott GERSTEIN asking him when he is available , after telling my mother in law he can come during the week ... wanted to schedule an appointment . Finally we agreed for the Wednesday of the week after . Texting him on Tuesday to ask about the time so I can le the receiving area in our building , but MR ELIOTT GERSTEIN saying he does not have a time and that he is behind a larger job than ours and he might not come! After waiting 3 weeks and wasting our time and energy , the last day he said he is not sure he will come ! Completely rude! Not even sorry or apologise! If there is a zero I would put zero! I don't know how I missed these reviews before contracting with Elliot to re-grout my bathroom and re-caulk around the tub. I concur with the other reviewers that you should stay away. First, I took a day off of work to have them do the work. They were supposed to come between 9-10. Right at 9, I received a call from the woman who handles the phones telling me that they had to reschedule because the worker called off. Luckily, I was able to go into work and they rescheduled for that Sunday. Come Sunday, the worker seemed nice and competent. He got right down to work after I explained what we needed - total regrout and re-caulk of area around tub. There were no issues with him while he was working. When he was done he let us look into the bathroom, but told us not to go in because we would disrupt the grout. The area around the tub was not cleared of mold, and he told us he couldn't do anything about that since it was behind the tile. Also, all of the tiles were covered in a film, which he told us would steam off in the shower in the next morning. Since we were basically told not to closely inspect and since he seemed like a nice guy, we even gave him a $20 tip (despite the fact that he tracked grout dust all over our condo and didn't ask from a broom or towel to clean up his mess - thanks!). The next day, when we went into the bathroom, we noticed the problems - (1) behind the bathroom door and at the top of the shower, he removed the grout but did not fill it in, (2) he didn't bother to regrout behind the toilet, (3) the grout that was placed down was uneven and pocked marked with holes, (4) he did not re-caulk around the tub - he laid grout. A simple internet search will tell you that this is a huge NO-NO. And then the biggest problem aside from the grout around the tub: The film on the tiles - it was the grout slurry, which had hardened on the tiles. A large number of the tiles actually had white lines (streak marks) from the grout slurry, practically all of them were covered in a film from the slurry. My husband and I waited a few days, because the worker told us to wait 7 days before calling; however, I called on Wednesday. I spoke with the receptionist - she took the list of problems, said she'd call Elliot and get back to me before she left at 4:30. She apologized and said they'd fix it for us. No call back. I called back the next day a little after noon - it was like she totally forgot and was surprised to hear from me. She said that she talked to Elliot and he was trying to speak with "the guys", but hadn't gotten back to her. She promised to call him right back and call me before the end of the day. No call back - it's now 6 days from my first call and not a peep. Then I saw these reviews and realized this is NOT an honest company that stands by their work or fixes their mistakes. The day after my second call, after still no call back, I proceeded to ACE hardware to purchase premixed grout and a tile scrapper. I had taken my birthday off work and spent it filling in the missed areas, fixing the pock marks, and scrapping the dried slurry off all of the tiles - see picture for how much slurry came off ONE tile. I should have taken other pictures, but it didn't occur to me. Eliot had a man come and re-do my grout. He did what I thought was a great job until there was a 12 inch section that turned yellow and brown within an hour after he left. I called him and he said that was normal and to see if it doesn't go away in 4-5 days. So I said ok but nothing changed. I sent him the pictures again and asked him to have the guy come back and fix it. He said he would check his schedule and get back with me. He never did. Then later, he says he is out of town and on and on. The grout is worse than before and the only reason I am bothering to leave this review is because whoever is considering using him should bear in mind the caliber of character of the owner. Excellent job great results! I am very satisfied with the work done last week on my tile floors. Floors put in 15 years ago with what was once light grout, constant wear made them look awful! I made a $200 down payment but later decided to pay the full amount and start with the bathroom. He simply never showed on the scheduled date. He has not contacted me. We recently installed new travertine floors and needed to clean and seal the floors for protection. After calling several providers, we decided to go with the Grout Doctor. While the owner and Jessica (from front office) were polite and extremely nice, I have to say I am rather disappointed with the actual product/service. First of all, we were rather hesitant when the person who came to seal our floors came in an unmarked van. So we are not sure if this was a subcontractor or what. We have had floors sealed before, we know what a disaster it can be if it not done the right way. I mentioned this to the guy, (forgot his name) and he assured me that he was a professional and knew how to work the process. Well, he did not come by himself. He came with 2 other people, who apparently did all the work while he left for most of the day. These 2 spent all day pretty much chit chatting. Before they started, I pointed out to the guy who was apparently in charge all the areas where the tape markings needed to be scraped with a razor. He assured me that would be done. They did not do this, so now those areas have a gooey substance on in that when dirty everything sticks to it and no matter what we do we cannot clean properly. The shine on the floor was very little, only in certain areas. The only thing they did right was cover up my cabinets and baseboards correctly so that nothing splashed on there. When we have to redo we will definitely not be calling them again. read more

The grout doctor made a house call to my home this week. In one day they transformed my dirty dull terra cotta ( Mexican tile) floors from lifeless to gorgeous. We were stunned at the transformation. The floors were stripped and the grout lines scrubbed by hand with a wire brush. Each line was then hand painted line by line than the entire room was sealed with 3 coats of sealer. Jay and Jesus were very professional and very diligent. I just stayed out of there way. Boy, was I surprised when the job was completed. Next, We are going to use them for our bathroom floor. The company is very attentive and the owner Elliott calls back within minutes. I thought the floors were a lost cause but they look good as new now. read more

Called the number and the lady apologized and said she would get in touch with him. I used the Grout Dr 4 years ago so when I finished the remodeling of my home I called them again. Mind you I also called 2 other VERY KNOWN companies for estimates but no one beat Grout Dr's pricing and the fact that I knew what the outcome would be it was a no brainer. Jay, called me the day of my appointment to let me know exactly what time he would be over. He showed up with another gentleman named Jesus. Jay went over all the areas that were to be cleaned with me. Even though I had already told Elliot I wanted the same "color" sealer I had previous, Jay brought out 3 different colors for me to choose from. They were courteous and did a great job. So I just would like to mention that i had a neighbor just move in next door to me. She is not fully in the house because the house was take over by the HOA because of non payment of Dues of the previous owner. The tiled floor grout was disgusting, The grout was nasty! The house stunk so bad! My new neighbor who came from California, asked me if i could recommend a tile floor cleaner. So i told her yes. So she entrusted me with this task, left me the key and her number. So i did my research like I always do and found The Grout Doctor on the internet. The business owner Elliot assured me the two guys that would come are very nice and will do an unbelievable job. So I said OK. In my mind i told myself this better be good. We hired the grout doctor Elliot Gerstein to repair our tiles that have been damage after the hurricane we also thought that it would be a better idea to regrouting and painting the entire grout of our house including the shower tiles and bathtub. When Elliot Gerstein came to our house we explained detailedly the work we wanted and expected to be done, he agreed to do the work we asked and said that the work would take a day or day and a half to be finished. He also said that we had to empty all our furniture like bookcases and photos because his crew were going to move the furniture outside to prevent the furniture from being covered with dust, which by the way they never moved the furniture outside. The first day of work I received a phone call from Elliott Gerstein saying that he couldn't replace certain tiles that he previously said he could change because according to him we didn't have enough new ones, when we had more than 20 new tiles laying in our family room, just an excuse for him to not do his job that was the FIRST RED FLAG. They were suppose to bring their own tools and not use your patio furniture to cleaning your old tiles, however what they did was they used my patio table and left my backyard a complete mess, also they threw all the residues from the old tiles in my yard leaving my backyard a disaster SECOND RED FLAG. Then he said he couldn't change certain tiles because he needed to cut them and he wasn't skilled nor had the experience to do so. However why did he agree to cut the tiles when he knew he couldn't THIRD RED FLAG. Later on Elliot Gerstein said that he couldn't come the next day to work on the tiles and instead that they were going to work on the showers. However there lack of planning skills worked on both bathrooms at the same time so we couldn't take a shower that day, nor the next morning because before we could take a shower we needed to clean the shower because like I had mentioned previously they never cleaned up after work. Elliot said that very early in the morning at 8 am a guy from his crew would arrive at my house to finished the shower it was 10:20 am and no one had arrived. Around 11:00 am someone arrived to finish the unfinished bathroom and what this person did was the most unsanitary, unprofessional, and lazy thing that I had ever experienced. He cleaned the residues of new grout with the water from my toilet bowl. Not only did they plug my toilet bowl but also my whole bathroom was '"cleaned with water from the toilet" also this person was so lazy that he never took off the curtain rod to regrout the tiles that the curtain rod hung by so instead what he did was he place new grout on top of rob to stick the tiles in which the rod hung. In which doing so he also stuck the curtain rod to the tile FOURTH RED FLAG. At this point we were so frustrated even more when Elliot said that he wouldn't finish the work that day nor that he couldn't come that day and that he need more time to finish this nightmare when it had already been 4 days and Elliot had said it would take one day. My husband said he did not want to continue with the work but Elliot charged us $1,080 dollars for 32 tiles and one bathroom when the average installation of ceramic tiles are $11.16-$17.09 per square foot and he charged around 32 per square foot. Elliot Gerstein is not only unprofessional, lazy, sloppy, unsanitary, disorganized and unpunctual he is just a bad person with a lack of ethic. For the price gouge after the hurricane is why we filled out a complain in the Attorney General Office and we are planning on reporting to the Better Business Bureau (BBB) read more

Just had a bizarre and weird experience the phone number in the newspaper is not the one because you get transferred around to other phone numbers. Then they quote a very high estimate, then when the price was lowered they asked for cash. They said "Elliott" would be sent over to do the job and another guy shows up driving his own car instead of a Company truck and carrying a bucket. Multiple actions on their part made me suspicious. Our tenant had hired Eliot for the job and had already paid him. We found the results unsatisfactory and called him up. He explained what he had done as he was careful to not dull the stone floors. We asked him to redo the job with a stronger cleaning agent. He agreed and carefully tested different agents to make sure not to cause damage. He re-did the entire house to our satisfaction. As we needed it done soon, he came and did the job himself even though his helper was unavailable. He communicated very well throughout the process. Eliot wanted to make sure we were happy with the results and ended up doing a nice job. We are property managers and deal with many workers. It really saddens me to write this review of Elliot and his company. I was so excited to have our patio area pressure cleaned and preserved with new grout and sealant. Elliot sent Diego to do the job. The pressure cleaning went as planned. But the re-grouting process was a nightmare and the sealant was a total waste of time. Diego threw a lot of sand over the entire patio, making a mess everywhere. The creepy crawler in the pool broke from all of the sand in the pool. Diego returned a few days later, once the sand was dry. He then rolled the sealant on the patio, the the sand and grit was still a mess. I called Elliot a few days later to ask if this was the proper procedure because my patio felt more like the beach than a renovated patio. Elliot claimed the excess sand would wash away with the rain. Well, unfortunately for us, the sand hasn't gone anywhere. EXCEPT, into the pool and the house from our shoes and/or feet. Two months later, and we can not get the excess sand off of the patio. I have tried sweeping, blowing and hosing. The sand just seems to multiply. The worse part is, mold and little plants are already growing in between the pavers. We were told the re-grouting and sealing would prevent that from happening. Plus, it hurts to walk on the patio bare foot. Some of the little pebbles are sharp. Thanks for nothing but a mess Elliot. :( read more

Terrible service and customer care. Elliot originally came and gave estimate to clean and reseal terracotta kitchen floor and grout. He said work would be complete in 1 visit. We scheduled service. They cancelled their appt the night before to reschedule for 2 days later. When they showed up, they worked for 2 hours and said would have to come back the next morning. I received a call at 3 pm the next day saying they were on their way to my house. Jay showed up to finish floor and grout. Once I inspected floor I pointed to jay that he had sealed over dirt and fur. Floor now looks dirtier than original, and with no way to clean. Jay said he would restrip the floor and redo it. He proceeded to go to his van and then left! I called Elliot with no answer. I left various messages with Myriam and answering service but 48 hours later still no call back.
