Jay did a phenomenal job on the grout and tub in our 1950s bathroom update. Experienced and very easy to work with. Happy to recommend.

After years of scrubbing to try and get the grout clean, Jay came and regrouted the shower and bathroom walls and floor.

If you are lucky enough to have landed on Grout Pros' NYC Google listing, please do yourself an…read moreimmediate favor: stop stressing, end the analysis paralysis, step out of the panic loop and contact Elizabeth and Daniel ASAP. The universe is positively intervening in a way you cannot even fathom right now. I say this because I was YOU less than 48 hours ago. My nightmare started when I hired a "contractor" through TaskRabbit with 600+ five-star reviews to fix and paint a peeling bathroom window along with some regrout touch-ups. Straightforward, right? Well, on Day 2 at 6pm on a Thursday, less than 72 hours before my guest's early Sunday arrival, he scurried away mid-job and left the window's wood and metal frame in worse condition than when he started. He used a chemical paint remover that compromised the surface, then left when things got complicated. No referral. Just a "sorry" and out the door. Now I had less time, a worse problem, and no clear path forward. Enter NYC Grout Pros. Elizabeth initially told me they were booked until Monday, which I understood, but once she heard my timeline, she led with empathy and assured me she and Daniel would make Friday work. It felt like a miracle! I went to sleep knowing I wasn't alone. Friday, Daniel arrives around 2:30pm, and what struck me immediately was how supported he was by his team. One of his colleagues--on THEIR day off--came by just to deliver tools and materials he'd need. That level of coordination and sacrifice, especially under pressure, is rare. What Daniel walked into was no longer simple. The wood had been compromised, sanding was difficult, and the timeline ruled out conventional approaches. He assessed everything calmly and made a critical call--the current path wouldn't get this done in time. At 5pm on a Friday, without hesitation, he drove nearly two hours through West Village traffic to his shop in Westchester to custom cut wood for my window and source the right materials to actually solve the problem--not just patch it. He then drove back into Manhattan, arriving around 8:30pm, and worked until 11:30pm. And, true to his word--came back by 10am the next morning, on a Saturday--HIS day off--and a day where he had meaningful personal commitments, and still worked until everything was completed to the highest standard. The Result: the window was fully repaired, the grout issues were smoothed out, and the bathroom was spotless/usable. I was able to keep my promises to my guest because of Daniel. But what impressed me most is who Daniel is as a person. He is not only exceptional in his craft--he is an even more exceptional human being. I was under pressure. I had already lost time and money. I was dealing with someone else's poor judgment. And Daniel kept reassuring me: he was on my side, he wouldn't abandon the project, and he would get it done. Although I was a complete stranger--one of millions of people in NYC--he treated me like a longtime friend he was willing to move mountains for. And boy did he. He never made me feel like a burden or like he'd been stuck with a bad job. There was also a generosity of spirit that permeated his work. My partner had ?'s about installing new flushmounts, and Daniel took the time to coach him through an example so we'd feel confident doing it ourselves. One micro-moment spoke volumes. After hours of driving and working late, he still cleaned thoroughly--bathroom spotless, tools neatly placed. As we walked out, he noticed dust from his boots in the hallway and instinctively dropped down to clean it, saying he didn't want to leave the building that way. That level of care--at the very end of a long day--is not something you can fake. I also appreciated how highly he spoke of his team, especially Elizabeth. It's clear they are a close, experienced group that genuinely support one another--and it shows. What they did for me went far beyond fixing a window. Hearing "I got you" felt like 1000 pounds lifted off my shoulders--I've found my dream creative partners and I know I can trust them with any project moving forward! And so should you!

Great repair of cracked countertop. Pride in workmanship. Skills and experience show.read more

When we moved in, I had an ammonia spill on our gorgeous countertop. I bought a diamond brush kit…read moreonline and got rid of the deep discoloration and went through 5 levels of hybrid sanders (300 to 3000) and yet was left with a large area of unpleasant deep scratches/grooves and the area was much harder to clean. I called 5 stone/marble companies and they consistently proved to be unreliable. Amazingly none of them showed up to their appointments nor called to reschedule, so I gave up. That was 3 years ago. I decided to retry this year and found one guy - Manny Guardiola (The Marble Guys). When he came by to take a look I could see how knowledgeable he was - he asked to see the sanding blocks I used and went on to explain how they are made, what they do to the stone, the type of "engineered" stone I had for my countertop and how the coating for the edges is processed to the underside where you can see a seam in the coating, etc.. He came the following week with an assistant and I forgot about the appointment and had just arrived in the city so I did the unthinkable, directed him to the garrage and gave him the code to open it and unarmed the alarm. The next two hours I traveled back to town I was contemplating my poor judgement and wondering what did I do? My wife and I had a terrible experience with contractors in the area including one defrauded us when we moved in and is still paying us through his criminal conviction so you can see why I felt idiotic... When I arrived (at around 11am) I saw a scene that was so impressive the I decide at that point already (before seeing the end result) that I would write this review...Take a look at the photo how he set up the work area protecting every single cabinet and the wood floors impeccably while working on the counter (two layers). They ended up working from 9am to 4pm (!) removing layers of scratches and blending into the large space of the counter. When I thought he was already done (it looked great), Manny told me he wasn't pleased with the way the new finish blends in with the sheen of the rest of the counter and went out to ACE to get a different polishing compound. He did not ask for overtime or change his original quote. The final result? Extremely well done, they cleaned up after the job and were just amazing! Highly recommended and fair pricing.
