    Before (with no light on)
    Courtney B.

Over the past few years, I have been looking for ways to make my home more efficient as well as more customized to my needs. Accordingly, in my mission to achieve both of these things, I thought an addition of a solar tube would not only brighten my home but save money. Initially when I asked for a quote for solar tubing, I was only seeking this upgrade for my secondary windowless bathroom. After the bathroom solar tube install and getting accustomed to the new light in the space, I began to realize how dark other aspects of my home were, specifically my hallways. I then contacted SolarTex one more time and requested two more tubes be installed in my hallways. The difference in the bathroom and both hallways are literally like night and day. Aside from the solar tubes, the service I received from Zach Thibodeaux was outstanding. Zach is honest, friendly and is one of the most hardworking service professionals I have ever had in my home. Hopefully soon, I will be able to afford to have Zach back to add two more tubes (one in my kitchen and one in my master walk-in closet).

Our windowless bathroom is bathed in light from a 10" light tube

Our newer home is long and narrow, and the homes on either side are fairly close so the builder didn't put windows where privacy might be compromised. So we have a windowless 2nd bathroom and several areas of the home that are dark regardless of time of day. My husband knew there was a good solution for this, found SolarTex and made an appointment. Rory from SolarTex visited with us to discuss where we might want to place the light tubes. Our open floor plan meant many possibilities for placement. We decided on a 14" tube in the dining/living area, which was perpetually dark, another 14" tube in the sunroom/kitchen area (which was dark in the morning), and a 10" tube in our 2nd bathroom. Installation took place about a month later. It was professionally done, with tarps laid before work was started, so there was no mess. What a difference these tubes make! On a sunny day, an area 15-20 ft in diameter is well lit around the 14" tubes. The 11' ceilings in our home mean the light is spread farther out. Our bathroom, with its 10" tube, looks like somebody keeps leaving the light on during the day. The area outside of the bathroom is also lit up now when the door is open. We opted for different diffusers (the visible plastic part in the ceiling) in the living areas vs. the bathroom. The prismatic ones make interesting patterns and have a more modern appearance than the plain diffuser we have in the bathroom. During the day, the diffusers look like a bright cool-toned LED ceiling light. The company also installs solar attic ventilation fans, so we had one of those installed at the same time to keep our attic cooler. There's a discount for multiple installations done the same day. Hardware and installation come with good warranties. We are very pleased with our choice, and highly recommend Rory and company.

    Our Solar Tex tubular skylight!

I can't say enough about how happy we are with our solar tube skylight. Rory, our salesman was very professional and gave us the best advice. He directed us to the showroom so that we could actually see the product he recommended, and Daniel the installer did a terrific job. They returned our initial call within 24 hours, scheduled an appointment, scheduled an install, and voila, everything turned out perfectly. I would highly recommend this company. We couldn't have had a better experience!

Before & After, 2 hours apart

We just had 2 solar tubes installed by Design Skylights, and I am thrilled with the difference it instantly made in one windowless bathroom, and in one vanity area so dark in the day that auto sensing nighlights lit themselves 24-7. Nice guy, good work, and a dramatic Before and After for something that took just about 2 hours. Now I am eyeing our dark closets...

Since then the roof has held up great! Last week I started seeing a leak on the outside of my house. I called them up and the owner sent someone out the same day just to rule anything out. When they came out we both agreed that it didn't look like there was anything wrong with the roof, but that didn't stop them for doing their best to stop it from leaking they added some caulking around some holes in the stucco and masonry and fixed up some of the flashing near the leak. After that, it was still leaking, but Brad, the owner, was kind enough to come out again, even though it had NOTHING to do with the roof just to double-check on me and make sure that I was doing well. At the end of the day, they took off a side gutter and found a hole in the wall that the builders had left from when the house was built. Again, STILL not roof related, but they treated me like family and helped me as if it were and fixed it up for me. Literally cannot say enough good things about WDR! I've never found a company that is this helpful or this responsive.

What started as raccoon damage ended up turning into a full roof replacement--something I had been putting off for a while. Ben took the time to walk me through every step in detail, including how the insurance process works. That alone can be stressful, but he made it much easier to navigate and gave me peace of mind throughout the process. He was professional, responsive, and communicative from start to finish. There are plenty of roofing companies out there offering similar services, but I truly felt that Ben and his team provided the best value without compromising on quality. I'd highly recommend them to anyone in need of roofing work.

They found long term hail damages and helped us work with our homeowner insurance to get our whole roof replaced. Top Dog only charged us the amount set by insurance, which is way less than what other companies quoted us. My agent from Top Dog was Vance Blair. He was the nicest guy - friendly, knowledgeable, super attentive and punctual. He was helpful without being pushy. He responded to all my texts and calls within the hour. He guided us step by step while dealing with insurance and in getting approval from the HOA. The Top Dog team replaced my whole roof in one day. The team was fast, efficient, and respectful to us and our property. They did a thorough cleanup after the job. It's been 4 months and the roof holds up great and beautiful. Although…read morewe weren't ready to kick off the project just yet, their reasonable quote and stellar reputation in the Austin area kept them at the top of my list. Fast forward to March 2026: as we began preparing for broader home renovations, we reconnected with them for an updated whole-house quote. After hiring a handyman to take care of minor repairs around the house, we were finally ready to paint by May. Because 21st Century is so popular with local school districts and commercial clients, their summer schedule fills up fast. However, they promised they could start our project in August during the first week of school, and they delivered right on schedule. Throughout the planning phase, they were incredibly responsive to all my questions and accommodating whenever I needed to update our project scope. When work began, the execution was incredible. They initially estimated the job would take between a week and a half to two weeks. For our nearly 3,200 sq. ft. home, we stayed at a nearby Airbnb expecting a longer process, but their team was so efficient they started on Monday and wrapped up completely by Saturday! The quality of work was outstanding, and their customer service is truly top-notch. As a self-proclaimed perfectionist, I was amazed when I did my initial walkthrough. There were only a few minor spots that needed touch-ups; everything else looked flawless. The owner, Gary, and project manager, Mike, maintained excellent communication and knew the exact status of the project at all times. The crew was courteous, respectful of our belongings, and made sure the house was securely locked up every day. During the final walkthrough, Gary personally ensured I was 100% satisfied and had the team address the few touch-up spots right on the spot. They were so appreciative of our flexibility with scheduling that they even brought a box of donuts to the final walkthrough! Our home literally feels brand new now, and we are so excited to enjoy it for years to come. I will definitely be hiring 21st Century for any future painting needs.
