This was my first time at The Gyro Project (any loc) but as a Greek girl I immediately was SO happy as soon as I walked in! Firstly, they have Greek music playing that you can here before you even open the door. They had my heart right there. Next thing I saw was the small little store of Greek products and packaged food along the wall. From gemista cookies to my favorite chocofreta bars, things were looking very good. We had already had lunch elsewhere, but came here for coffee and dessert. I never really have cold coffee in the winter but I could not pass up a chance to have a freddo espresso again. I was truly so happy I found a place where I could order a proper Greek coffee! So I got the freddo espresso and told my friends to do the same, and we each got a few desserts. During my most recent visit we only came in for some coffee and sweets and everything was so good. I loved my shaken espresso which was strong and sweet and the baklava was 10 outta 10. My friend ordered the frozen yogurt with oreo topping and said it was absolutely decadent. They've absolutely nailed the decor and I love the gorgeous pink flowers. A small section of the restaurant has merchandise and imported Greek cooking products for sale. I've tried a little bit of everything on the menu. Some are hits while some are misses. The prices are a little steep and they get higher every year. I will say... everything is freshly prepared and the ingredients are high quality. The portion sizes are also on the generous side, so the price is worth it. These are my absolute favorite menu items: *Bifteki Platter $20.95 (includes three patties, hand-cut fries, Mediterranean salad, tzatziki, and pita bread) - WOW, this has to be my #1 favorite dish here! The interior of the Gyro Project was very bright and welcoming. The menu is a little overwhelming so I would look at it ahead of time. There are plenty of options to choose from. There were so many things I wanted to try, and lots of menu items you don't typically see at similar Greek fast service restaurants like these, like avgolemono soup, and grilled halloumi. We tried those. The soup was okay. They did a good job in wrapping it to go to make sure none of it would spill. The halloumi was inevitably cold after the drive home but still good, so I imagine it would have been great if you ate it fresh at the restaurant. Poorly managed. I have numerous complaints about this place. They started charged extra fee for sauce which should be part of an order. So I paid extra fee for sauces which were left out from my order . I've come to this place every week at least spending $140-150 per visit including my takeout. I had to wait for my two orders today almost half hours, again while others who came late were served first. I had to go to the cashier and asked about progress of my order. They kept telling me to wait for another 5-10 min. No one is there to supervise orders. When I went in to the store, there were two tables finishing their foods. Most of the tables were served ahead of me while they kept me waiting for my order. So I had to complain about their poor management to a lady who claimed to be a supervisor suddenly. She threatened me with loud and ignorant voice with rude attitude (as to take it or leave it )rather than apology for delay. She sounded absurd and very rude. We each got a bowl (beef and lamb gyro and salmon) and the workers at each station helped us figure out what meat, toppings, and sauce we'd like.
