The folks behind the counter at The Gyro Spot were incredibly friendly and welcoming. From the moment I walked in, the service was warm, attentive, and efficient--something I always appreciate, especially at a busy casual spot. I ordered the Zeus gyro along with a side of fries. The fries came out piping hot, fresh, and perfectly seasoned. They were crisp on the outside, soft on the inside, and honestly some of the better fries I've had in a while. A great start to the meal. The gyro itself had great flavor--the ingredients were fresh, the toppings were vibrant, and the seasoning was spot on. Unfortunately, it was lukewarm when it reached the table. The taste was good enough that I kept going, but I couldn't help but think how much better it would have been served hot. A gyro with that much potential deserves to come out at full temperature, and I was disappointed that it didn't quite get there. That said, the overall experience was still positive. The friendliness of the staff and the quality of the ingredients make me believe this was probably an off moment in the kitchen. I'd definitely give them another shot because the foundation is clearly solid--and when that gyro comes out hot, I'm sure it'll be fantastic. Worth a visit, and worth trying again. read more

Ordered Gyro Spot not too long ago for a work meeting, and there were all sorts of things left out and incorrect items added to meals. Decided to give them another try today at home for lunch because we used to love them for the first few years they were open and was hoping it was a one off. My meal was a waste and went in the trash after three bites. The pork was cold and had an "off" flavor. One bite that I dodged was pure fat (see photo), there appeared to be several of those. The rice was a bunch of congealed clumps (see other photo) . There is no nice way to say it, it was disgusting. I don't know what has changed, but it made me sad to see the quality of food had declined so much. read more

Food was fantastic! I tried the Lamb & Beef Gyro and my son had the "Zeus" gyro which is basically all the meat. He loved it. Know that they stuff a few fries INSIDE the gryo wrap - and not 'on the side'. Interesting. The dill sauce is tasty, too. The atmosphere is lacking. Simple and very very basic. You can totally see the kitchen and prep, which is not something to really see (messy and seems a little dirty). This restaurant is really for eat and go, no lingering. Would go back. This is a super solid spot to get gyros at. Their fries are good, and that magic powder and seasoning makes them amazing. Their portions may look small, but don't let that fool you as it is packed in there and is dense in a good way. We got them to go and had them a couple hours later (because we live an hour+ from here) and it was still this good. The lamb and beef had plenty of meat with lots of flavor. But the best part was the pita bread that was fluffy and so good even after a couple hours of being made. My wife got chicken gyro and she loved that too. She also got their Avgolemono and she loved it as well. It's a very casual atmosphere, so we'll be dropping in to eat here next time we get a chance. I've been a big fan of TGS. I live over an hour away but in NH all roads lead through MHT wether going to airport or on the way to UNH. So I try to plan my stops. Bern over a year since last visit. Always get excited when I walk in the door. But there was a prominent sign on the door about no outside drinks and I had a water bottle in my hand. Just don't like paying over $3+ for soda anywhere these days. (Chilis Rewards and Panera Sip Club are some of my favs for avoiding that.) My overstuffed pork gyro with veg and takziki was excellent as usual but the whole experience wasn't as gratifying as I have found it to be in the past. This is one of those places where the reviews do not match the experience. Maybe it was better a yr ago... hard to say. Greasy spoon vibe. Cordial, not friendly, staff. Pricey food for what you get. $12 for a chewy child size gyro that was not flavorful and topped with some (3) mushy fries. Dry, dry, dry. Where in the great Greek islands was the tzatziki? The sandwiches were made by a couple of bros who looked like they just graduated high school and seemed more into their conversation than crafting my dinner. My girl friends and I came to NH for Memorial Day weekend getaway. We came here to pick up dinner after going to Muse Paintbar. Most restaurants were closed already but fortunately The Gyro Spot was open until 1:30am on Saturday's. It was empty with just us and 1 other customer about 9/10pm. There seemed to be plenty of seating with dimmed lights. We got our orders pretty quickly what felt like a wait time of about 10 minutes or so. We ordered feta fries, tzatziki fries, and 4 different gyros. I got the falafel gyro and it was delicious even after bringing it back to the hotel about 15 minutes away! The gyros were all wrapped in foil. The pita bread was soft and fluffy, and the falafel and gyro itself was flavorful. I also really enjoyed their fries dipped in the tzatziki sauce. Did I go to the same place? I did not enjoy my meal, and did not finish it. That's rare for me. It was just too dry and flavorless. Maybe it's a go-to for certain crowds at certain times of night (I've certainly loved such places in my past), or maybe I caught them on an off night. We ordered the chicken gyro wrap and the bowl for take out. The order was promptly ready on time. The pilaf was a surprise: it tasted good but not the kind I expected. I liked the change though. The chicken was nicely charred, just the way I prefer. And the falafels were my favorite. I guess I should have asked to remove the chopped onions from the bowl, since I don't enjoy the raw taste of onions. That was a bit off for my taste. It seemed like straight-to-the-point kind of place, that focuses on their food and definitely clean and well maintained. Been here twice so far and it's great! I get the rice bowl with some extra pita. Went once in person with some colleagues and then got take out the second time to eat at my desk while working. Both times the food came out fast and delicious. The first time in person they got all five of our orders with drinks and sides completely right and got it to us in less than ten minutes of us putting our orders in, during their lunch peak. It was delicious and I couldn't have been more impressed. Not to mention the man who took our order at the counter was helpful and friendly. I am very happy a gyro shop is in Manchester. We both had the beef/lamb gyro. It was authentic, and really well done. They do the fries on the side if you do not want them in the sandwich. The pita is the fluffy kind you will find in Vancouver's little Greece. I would eat again for sure. I did find the meat a bit dry, and I may ask for extra sauce next time. My partner got the dipping sauce for the fries, he enjoys the mayo dunks. They have some bottled beer, and a soda cooler. They do have water available. I tried their signature lamb gyro sandwich and I was ultimately DISAPPOINTED! The lamb had no savory taste and was in bite sized pieces barely thinking you had meat in the small pita. The fries were too crispy and not hot while the tsazaki sauce was slathered on and way too overwhelming. Lastly, no bang for your buck spending $9+ on a sandwich that didn't fill me up. If you never had gyro, then maybe you think its good but to be honest, this is not good at all compared to Oakland gryos in Milwaukee or really any gyro place for that matter. Even the skewer of lamb looked like they got a bad piece of gyro meat and I would certainly not serve it to customers. Please avoid if you have ever had good gyro before. Not worth your time and certainly money. One last thing... Tell me who puts fries in a gyro sandwich. Gyros should have onions and tomatoes and pita bread. That's it! This is not a place one goes to get authentic cuisine, heart health or, sadly, falafel. This is where you head when you want to stuff flavor into your face at a low cost, and, if you have my level of willpower, leave with a waddle you didn't arrive with. This place uses french fries the way other places use condiments. "Your wrap is looking a bit dry! Here, here's a fist full of fries to soften that up and bulk it out!" And the fries are really good. Nor do they skip on ingredients. The attached photo is the feta fries ($4.75), and the tonnage of creamy, fresh feta that they integrated throughout this basket was simply jaw-dropping. I found the fries to be a bit heavy on the rosemary for my taste, but the feta more than made up for it. I needed to eat them with a fork. The chicken gyros were soft and flavorful, with the aforementioned fries to really bulk them out, and the bread was super thick and pillowy. Overall, a very good experience on the cheap. Though, there could have been more chicken, to balance out the carb bomb. Two wishes for this place: falafel and Turkish coffee. Two staples of most places that serve this type of fare. If one is trying to eat less meat, falafel is really the only way to go, in wraps like this, if one wants to feel like they've eaten something of substance (not just greens and hummus). I felt good eating a salad and putting French fries underneath it is a very good idea. College kids would eat that and so did I!!! Hubby got the Pork Gyro and said it was very flavorful. No meat, it had pickles on it which are not even on the menu anywhere. It's been a long time since I've had a really good gyro, so when I found The Gyro Spot with good ratings I thought I'd give it a try. I wish I had a different craving, because the results were really unpleasant. To start off with, I had specifically asked for light tzatziki sauce. I like the little bit of tang that it brings, but I don't want that condiment to smother all of the other flavors. When I get my beef and lamb gyro, it was heavily glooped on. There was so much tzatziki that I was frequently using napkins to remove it from my face and hands. I think the reason they added so much was to hide the underwhelming nature of their gyro meat. It was dry and tasted of nothing much besides being burnt. And as the establishment does not have a fountain dispenser (you have to buy sodas by the bottle), I had to carefully ration my beverage to wash the flavor of it out of my mouth. So finally, we get to dessert... one of my favorites, baklava. It was oddly gritty, and the whole of it was covered in something that only MOSTLY tasted of honey. However, it was clearly not honey (or it was a little bit of honey mixed in with something that should not be on a baklava). If you enjoy even palatably decent Mediterranean foods, skip this place at all costs. read more

Sorry, G-Spot. I'm not seeing the hype. I think after living in Manchester, NH for 1.5 months, I've come to the conclusion that Manchester is devoid is really great restaurants. I am usually a huge fan of gyro - REAL gyro - and tzatziki sauce is my sh*t. Maybe they had a bad day but I was not impressed with my beef/lamb gyro. I'm from Dallas, TX and while we aren't known for Mediterranean or Greek food...the gyros I've had from home are far superior to Gyro Spot's. The tzatziki sauce here is rather mediocre and the gyro itself was seriously lacking in tzatziki sauce. The meat was on the dry side and had a tough texture. I wasn't tasting the great flavors you should get either. Gyro meat needs to be juicy, tender, and full of flavor. The tomatoes and onions were good but it's not like much preparation goes into tomatoes and onions - you literally just have to chop 'em up. So...Gyro Spot stuffs french fries into their gyros which sounds amazing but the mixture of fries I had in my gyro were not impressive. I got some hard, over-fried pieces. Like, if you're gonna do french fries - do them right. Crunchy/crispy on the outside, mushy potato goodness on the inside. read more
