    Burrata-BBQ Chicken pizza.
    Vince J.

Excellent pizza. Typically I like New York style, but this was very good as well. The dough is not thin crust. It is more doughy, but with a sweet taste and soft texture. I wanted to order the clam chowder, but they were not making soups that day. Instead, I ordered a big Caesar salad and the Burrata-BBQ Chicken pizza. The Caesar salad looked like a work of art. The barbecue pizza, without onions, was unreal. I will definitely come back. Jeremy was the bartender and waiter while I was there and he was very good.

Wow! Had the Calabrese pizza(10 inch) what a great combo, whole roasted garlic, fresh basil leaves, fresh mozzarella, on medium thick crust. Even the crust was good, slight crunch with sweet flavors. Was told 20 min. Ready when I walked in. Took over the Statesmen- very clean with a few TV's. On elm street for parking. A nice addition to downtown.

I had their sea Bass special with their house maid angel hair pasta, along with a carafe of their house Chianti. It was excellent! My wife had the chicken parm, which was a very large portion and she loved it. Service was excellent as well, and pricing was reasonable for the quality of the food and service received. Next time we're back in town, this place will definitely be on the list.

Don't get me wrong, our waitress was polite, but every time we mentioned something, there just wasn't any follow-through. I had asked for extra bread and a new napkin and they never arrived. When my boyfriend asked for more water, she responded along the lines of she was about to do it, which came off like it was an inconvenience. I also wasn't offered fresh pepper and had to ask for Parmesan cheese, which made things feel a little off. I ordered the Linguine ai Frutti di Mare with clams, calamari, mussels, scallops, shrimp, and a lobster tail. The seafood itself was cooked pretty well, but the pasta was heavily overcooked, which was such a bummer because we come here at least twice a year and usually look forward to it. Afterward, I asked if the pasta was homemade and was told you have to specifically request that. I feel like that's something that should be mentioned upfront when ordering. Also, I forgot to mention they add radishes to the salad and no one asked about allergies. When I got mine, there was a big radish in it and I just had to hope I removed them all, which wasn't a great feeling. I don't know what changed, but overall this visit just felt a little disappointing compared to what we're used to.

This was our first visit on a Saturday evening and we were glad we made reservations as it was packed yet still maintained a great atmosphere. Our male server Burak was very attentive, professional, and very friendly. We ordered the Lavash with the mixed appetizer - tabouli, Mediterranean salsa, hummus, and Haydari. Chicken and Beef Kabobs as our entrees. Their signature cocktail Istanbul Peach Martini and a glass of Autorotas Sauvignon Blanc. As always the Lavash was amazing as was the Kabobs. The Kabobs came with a scoop of white rice, potatoes and a great salad with no lettuce, just marinated tomatoes. Cucumber, onion with herbs.

The dining room is nice, a bit quirky as it is an old train station. Our waitress was pleasant and was happy to answer any questions we had. Food from the kitchen was a tad slow, but it was a Saturday night and they were slammed. We were told we had to order the bread with the assortment of cold appetizer spreads and that really was fantastic. Piping hot bread, huge and an assortment of 4 dishes to go with it. All were tasty, especially the hummus. This alone is worth the journey to find this place. I had the lamb kofte, which are flattened meatballs usually cooked like a kebob. I was served a large portion and they tasted delicious, plenty to bring home. The other diners with me enjoyed their chicken kabob, falafel and kabob wrap. We thought the prices were fair for such generous portions. We will try again if in the area. Give this place a try if you have been sitting on the fence like me.

About a year later, I found myself craving authentic Mediterranean food again, so I started searching for restaurants around New Hampshire. That's when I came across Ayasofia. As I looked through the menu and photos, everything seemed so familiar--it reminded me of the dishes I had loved at Mediterrano. The next day, my husband and I decided to drive an hour to Salem to try it out, and it was completely worth it. After speaking with the owner, we learned that Mediterrano had actually been owned by a member of his family and that they use the same recipes. It all made perfect sense! The owner was incredibly warm and welcoming, even encouraging us to return and meet his mother, who taught him these recipes. I highly recommend the hummus, baba ghanoush, salsa, and grape leaves--they're all fantastic. Be sure to order the lavash bread on the side, as it pairs perfectly with everything. For a main course, the adana lamb kebab is a must-try. Everything tastes incredibly fresh and full of flavor. I only wish I could cook like this--I'd happily eat Mediterranean food every single day!

My husband was particularly excited by how the rice was made. The grape leaves were good and the dinners came with the red cabage and salad. Delicious. I also got the Raki, because I was having Turkish food, but all the cocktails sounded very good. We did not sit in the bar, but they sounded like they were having the time of their lives in there. At one point Rod Stewart came on over the speakers and you could hear them shouting "ROD!!!" I was like, shit - Turkish food AND the regulars love Rod Stewart? Sign me up! If we lived anywhere near here, we'd be back.
