I spent the afternoon at The Hair Doctor in Riverside and had such a great experience. I booked with Rose, who did an amazing job adding highlights to my hair. She was professional, made me feel completely comfortable, and honestly gave one of the best hair washes I've ever had--I was almost falling asleep in the chair! The whole team there is wonderful. Jess has braided my grandson's and granddaughter's hair before, and she's incredibly patient--even with all the squirming! The braids always come out perfect and look amazing. John John was so attentive as well. Even while busy, he still checked in on me to see if I needed a drink or anything else. He didn't hesitate to help out Rose and Jess--sweeping, assisting, and just being an all-around team player. The teamwork at The Hair Doctor really stands out. Great service wonderful atmosphere. I walked in with my 4boys and they left them looking fresh!! I was anxious to go to a barbershop because at another place they made me feel awkward by not talking to me and things like that but Eli and Steve both talked to me and made me feel like one of them. Eli cut my boys hairs and they all loved how it turned out he also did my 2year olds hair who hate being touched by other people and eli was great my son sat through the entire cut he got a dope comb over fade. This experience was kinda life changing I seriously can't thank Rosie enough. Firstly, I was struggling to find a colorist last minute and this place was the only one that let me reserve and schedule online for something next day. I got a text early the next morning for details about what I wanted. I had let my hair grow out for a while at this point so I was low confidence and also had a bad experience previously getting my hair colored elsewhere. Rosie was very thorough and patient and made sure the solution was weak enough that it wouldn't burn my scalp. The color came out amazing and she styled it to perfection. NEVER COMING BACK Discovered this place a month ago, got my beard trimmed went well, that's why u left 2 instead of 1 but I went yesterday to get my beard and hair cut, no one in front of me in line, and waited over an hour to get seated they were just talking and messing around taking extremely long to cut their clients hair, everyone looked irritated by them, needless to say I left after an hour and a half and went to a different barber. Very disappointed. It doesn't take that long to cut men's hair or trim a beard. Update, gave it another try, asked for a trim on the beard and hair, THEY CUT OFF MY WHOLE BEARD IT WAS FULL AND HAD VOLUME, asked for a little trim on the sides and to be cleaned up a little bit. 5 months of growing it out and it's all gone I trusted the barber do do what I asked. I've had my roommate cut my hair for the past two to three years. I thought it was time to finally visit a barber and get a decent haircut. I haven't talked to a legit barber in a while so I was low-key nervous on how to communicate with one. Appointments were super easy to make on YELP. I got a response 20 minutes after submitting. I expected some wait time upon arrival but I was seated immediately. I went in there to chop off my dead super treated dyed bleached hair. I just did not wanna deal with it anymore. I asked my barber (David) if he had any ideas for what to do with my hair and he showed me references on his instagram which was super helpful. My barber DAVID was quick, professional, and did a very good job. Got my haircut exactly how I wanted it and he gave me a great specialty pattern cut. Awesome people! As soon as you walk in the door they make you feel like family. They don't make you feel dumb for not having an appointment, and they have enough TVs to accommodate their patrons and the people waiting. I went for a beard trim and a line up and I was greeted by Isreal. He asked me what I was looking for and I told him that I did not want a haircut today. He did not give me any guff about it, but he did ask if I wanted to re-line up my previous haircut, which I agreed to do. He worked very quickly, but very precise in making sure the lineup was straight on both sides. You did exactly what I asked and everything came out great. I am definitely going to go back for a full haircut and beard trim next time with Isreal. I also had the pleasure of speaking with Steve, the barber right next to us, and he was awesome as well. It feels like a family and everybody gets along and cracks jokes and has a good time, not only with other barbers, but with the patrons as well. I have found my new barber spot. read more

Came into the The Hair Doctors due to its convenience to UC Riverside. I was able to see David who squeezed me into his busy schedule on a Saturday. ( Tip: they are getting even busier so appointments are pretty much mandatory now! ) As a student, the prices here are quite affordable and you get an extremely good haircut. All the barbers here seem to really care about their work and pay close attention to how they cut hair. Environment: very relaxed, well kept shop. Everything is very clean and despite it being a barber shop, you don't see tons of hair everywhere. Definitely will be coming back while I study at UC Riverside! read more

I popped in super late 15 minutes before closing. It was Coachella weekend and I was in dire need of solid mid drop bald fade. Let me just say, Israel could have denied my walk-in, but instead, he passed me a smile and said, "yeah, I got you!" Mad respect to Israel for coming in clutch for Chella. Walk in My first time here, and I came in at around 11:30 am on a Wednesday and there was no wait time for a walk in. A huge plus for no wait as the other barber I usually go to has a huge wait for walk-ins. There was only one customer at that time. I showed Eric a picture of what I wanted and he started cutting. Atmosphere The place looked like it was under construction as one wall was down and ladders were laid around. Yeah, that's understandable but what bothered me was how I saw two empty cans of Bud Light just sitting around, like come on guys seriously? A side note is that most of the conversations were in Spanish. The atmosphere is very laid back as the barber cutting the guy's hair next to me was eating pizza and cutting at the same time... Another barber had downtime and he was just playing the arcade game setup. There are a multiple TV's but they are all next to each other which is annoying when the barber rotates your chair you can't watch TV anymore. Cut My barber, Eric, knew what he was doing and gave me a clean number zero fade with a lineup and part which I liked. The cut did not use a straight razor if anyone is interested. He even used some gel product to style for me which is a plus, the other place I go to charges extra for some hair product. For the price (which I will get to) its an excellent cut. Price I never really understood barber shop pricing, they never post the prices and different barbers charge different prices even if you ask for the same cut. But it must be a barber thing to charge what they think their own cut costs. As a UCR student, I read from another review from Alex M, that on Weds they give student discounts for UCR students, but Eric said that there's no discount for my cut which was confusing. Eric said, "I usually charge 20, but I'll give it to you for 18" which is nice, but why do you have to say the first part? Just be straight and give me a price with no BS. The price is solid for this cut Conclusion If you don't really care much about the casual atmosphere of a barbershop and want an excellent cut come to this place when it's not busy and you will be out the door with a fresh cut pretty quick. The price is fair and I recommend Eric. The reason I only gave 4 stars was that of the atmosphere and how some of it was unprofessional. read more

No hustle making an appointment thru this app, Julian ( the owner ) responded quickly and we were set for the next day appointment. Updated* David is an excellent barber. He is patient, detail-oriented when he's working on your hair, and he makes great suggestions. The protocol is to make your appointments at least a day in advance, but I made mine about an hour before one time and he still gave me a haircut. He works out the itty bitty details from asking you if you need a razor fade and cuts it to the precise length. Although he's not a stylist, I asked for a new hair style recommendation and it came out better than I had expected. Great work, cool barber, and comfortable atmosphere. Thank you David Andrew - If you want someone who's detail oriented and very specific with how you want your hair cut then Andrew is also your guy. Before he even begins his work, he asks you what style, how far you want your lineup, and even suggests other ways to style your hair. I showed him a photo of a particular style I wanted my hair and he replicated it even better by working on fine details that I didn't consider would make a significant difference (e.g. leaving more hair on certain areas and using a particular number for the fade).
