Honestly, life changing. I've been seeing a barber for the last year at least but every time I'd go, I just never felt like it's been EXACTLY what I wanted. I had a coworker come into work the other day and he said he had gotten his haircut from this shop so I decided to try once at least. I thank God I did. I can't remember his name off the top of my head but he cut my hair EXACTLY how I wanted. I stress this so hard because my hair is part of my identity so being able to look in the mirror everyday and seeing the style I wanted has been delivered. Hi, I don't ever write a review unless the behavior of the business is so awful that I want to make sure no one experiences what I had to. I'm a mother of an autistic son and I made an appt with Ron because of the reviews I saw from other autistic moms that said he was so good with their kid. When I got to the shop and Ron called my name and he saw my son the issues began. I have a mixed race son which shouldn't even matter but to this shop it absolutely did. Immediately Ron said he didn't feel comfortable cutting my son's course type of hair AKA "black" peoples hair. I was like wow! He then proceeds to ask 3 other barbers right in front of me and my son if they would cut his hair and each one said the same thing I don't cut that type of hair. I have never been so disgusted by a business in my life. If you are a barber and went to school you can cut anyone's hair if you're any good. Needless to say my son and I left and he asked what happened and I almost cried. I never thought I would have to explain racism at this point in my son's life who as an autistic kid doesn't understand. This was a truly heartbreaking moment that I hope I never have to experience again. I ended up taking my son to a different barber and those guys weren't black either and were very nice and patient with my son and did a great job. I told them what happened and they said how sad we are barbers and a real barber who is any good should never say or do that. I hope no other mom has to go through this for any services. I in no way said he was discriminating against autistic kids. As I stated he wants to masks his course hair issues as not doing black hair. No other way to slice it. Save your business all you want but people know exactly what I'm talking about. Also the other barber said hat said no didn't even look at my son he was behind a curtain and had the nerve to say no by just hearing the conversation so don't tell me this wasn't about being black. And FYI the other barber was Hispanic and had no issue because he has talent. Thank you and I'm don't going back and forth with your unprofessionalism and would never take my son back to you! But I finally found this hidden gem in downtown Riverside with two amazing gentlemen! They made me feel right at home. Very easy going people that treat everyone with kindness & respect. Tried Electric Barbershop out for the first time the other day and man, it was awesome. This was my first professional haircut in over a decade, I've been cutting my own hair since college. I chose this place because of the great Yelp reviews and it did not disappoint. I wasn't sure what to expect but Ron was friendly and welcoming from the moment I arrived. Ron took the time to ask me what I was looking for in my cut and once we had a plan set he knocked it out fast. The cut itself is great, worth every penny. Great barbershop with experienced barbers. Ron, Roman, and Andie all do a great job cutting hair. I have had hair cuts from each one of them and would say they take the time to ensure you get what you were looking for in a cut. The barbershop has a chill and relaxed vibe to it. Not rowdy with loud music or people dropping profanity left and right. Decent price at $40 a haircut and it's in a prime location if you ask me in the heart of Riverside next to the Mission Inn. I'm not sure if they do walk ins but they have an easy website to navigate and set an appointment time, throughout the week days you will probably be able to get in same day but on the weekends they will be busier and it may be difficult to get in same day. Went here with my brother the day before his wedding staff is friendly. They greet you and ask if you want a complimentary drink. It's by appointment only which I'm ok with as they did honor the appointment time. My brother got a beard trim and I did the hair and beard combo. I have to break this review up in a few parts. Ambiance - finally, a good simple 'guys' barber shop. Always great music playing, all the barbers have good chemistry with each other which makes for entertaining banter between them all. Very comfortable spot, and the fact I always get offered a beer when I arrive is a definite plus. Barbers - I can only talk about one because I have only gone to Rob, but I know if I couldn't get in with Rob, I'm sure the other guys would take care of me no problem. I've seen how the guys look that leave their chairs and they all look more than capable in their skills of making you look good. Rob - I've been going to Rob for about 4 years now, and I've followed him to Electric when I moved to Riverside recently. Always takes his time, and always does a great job on my beard trim and fade. He's honest with recommending product specific to your type of hair (I have thick, wavy hair and the product he recommended [Steadfast - Anchor Hold] works GREAT for my hair). I've been going to a very inexpensive stylist place on La Sierra for years. Occasionally I tried other more upscale places but had always been disappointed and would return to La Sierra for my $12 haircut. Today I finally tried Electric Barbershop and I'm sold. Super easy reservation for today, Saturday morning. Johnathon was great! He took his time, and made my hair look perfect. He even gave me gifts to take home. I truly like how the barbers take their time to get your hair just right. They even schedule in 1 hour of time per appointment to make sure that they don't have to rush on your hair. The last time I was here, Roman definitely listened to my feedback about how I wanted my hair done, adjusting my fade or trimming the top of my hair to get things the way that I wanted. Ok, so, I sent a message to the shop at 11PM on Friday hoping for them to fit me in on Saturday since I know getting a barber appointment on Saturdays can be a tough task! I was hoping to get an answer Early on Saturday...but NO! These guys responded right away at 11PM!! Who does that? I'll tell you who, people who care about their business and who are truly customer focused. And that, folks, is Electric Barber Shop! I was able to get a 3 pm appointment. I arrived 10 minutes early and was quickly greeted and asked if I wanted water or a beer! I was seated at 2:58pm... are you serious?! No waiting! Too good to be true! Well, we will see about the haircut. Ron was my barber. I told him what I wanted; he asked a couple of questions and off he went. I never faced the mirror, so I didn't quite know what he was doing, but I was hopeful! He finished and handed me the hand mirror so I could see the cut! The dude knocked it out of the park!!
