I had high hopes for this establishment. I'm new to the area and I've been looking for a place that can handle my multicultural hair. I called to try and book an appointment however I only got a voicemail and even then it was a robot nothing on the voicemail greeting mentioned the name of the business, hours of operation, location, nothing. Decided I would drive over and talk to someone in person. Went in, the bell chimed and I heard some gentlemen talking and another woman in the back. No one at the front desk. Then two other patrons came in and same thing, the bell chimed and no one responded. I asked the other two girls if they had been here before they said no. Finally a gentleman greets us and I ask if they have time for a walk-in today. He states I would need to speak with the person in the back. So he yells out for her. She comes to the front and I ask her the same question. She states not today because she is the only one working and she is too busy. She also states that I should call and that even though it says walk-ins welcome on the door they are generally too busy for walk-ins. I said ok thanks and walk out. I called the number on the business card that I grabbed before leaving, left a message on yet another robot voicemail that doesn't even state the name of the person I was calling or that it is in fact a business I am reaching. I still have not heard back from this person whose title on the business card stated "owner". That was 6 days ago. (sigh) guess I'll keep driving to El Segundo until I can find another place. I do hope this business continues to thrive and so happy that they are getting the business that I'm sure they deserve. Too bad I'll never find out how amazing they are. read more

TRULY. This is the best hair I have ever had done. This is my 2nd weave ever and by far the best. The last one I had fell apart after a few weeks. While the hairdresser at the last place was very nice and professional...Carmen is a seasoned hair dresser who exudes passion and good energy. She gets the job done. Never turning away her clients who rush in for a -fix me up- at the last minute. This woman fit me in her schedule and even carried on a conversation. I am so blessed to have had my co-worker recommend her. Sometimes word of mouth is the best thing ever! If you want to learn how do to things right, get lessons from this woman. She knows what's she doing. She is so chill and so intelligent. She takes her time. She doesn't pull the hair. She washes and scrubs your scalp, puts antiseptic, lets you condition for a few and omg...the aroma...the wonderful head scrubbing after not being able to touch my own scalp for nearly a month! The braiding is phenomenal. No extra tugging. She adds her special blend of coconut oil with herbs to condition the scalp and hair. She took my wefts, REHYDRATED THEM and made them look like a million bucks. She also has connections for beautiful hair... she hooks you up. You get what you pay for and she always works with her customers. You will NOT be disappointed. OMG I can't say enough! I left in happy tears! I'm ready to go for a night on the town! Next time I go back... I will be getting the nicer hair...Bobby Boss is okay.... but it isn't for me. I deserve the better hair and mind you... EVERYTHING IS ABOUT PLACEMENT. My daughter got braids put in by Lanese. Lanese did an excellent job and we would definitely go back to her.

My wife went to Supercuts to trim her nice shoulder-length hair. She ran out crying with a "bob". Although Carmen at Hair Republic didn't have much room to fix the botch job, she at least styled it to look good. Skip the cheapy places, you get what you pay for. Drop a few more bucks and keep your gorgeous mane looking good. $25 out the door. Great job, Carmen! read more

Carmen serviced me in this shop. It took me awhile to write this review. The entire experience traumatized me in Jan. 2011. Most of my thick hair came out in her sink after a relaxer. Her only explanation was that I had weak hair. Well my hair never came out after a relaxer past or present. I've grown my hair back to it's original thickness and would hope that no one else experiences hair loss because it was depressing and embarrassing to say the least. read more
