*insert meme* WHY IS IT SPICY!? Because it has Halal Guy's red sauce, that's why! This place is the best. Halal Guys is a fast, casual type of place that has dine-in or carry out options. There's plenty of seating if you choose to eat in. I'm here close to once a week and they have never let me down. My go-to order is a regular platter with half spicy BBQ chicken ($1.00 upcharge) and half regular chicken. Add onions and white sauce, and I'll take a packet of the hot sauce to go. Total cost is under $16.00 for a good amount of food. All platters come with lettuce, tomatoes, rice, and pita. There are several free toppings as well as ones that are available at an additional charge. Highly recommend you get a good serving of the white sauce and if you're brave, add a line of the red sauce. I usually like mild to medium spicy dishes and the red sauce is definitely HOT, not medium, so I get a packet to go so I can add it myself. The spicy BBQ chicken is already made with the red sauce and I've found half spicy, half regular is the chef's kiss for my preferred spice level. I feel like vegetables are often under-appreciated, but they need a mention here...always super cold and crisp, which is refreshing when you've got to quell the heat. I came here for a yelp elite event. I ordered the small platter and I had a choice of any meat I wanted. I ended up getting the beef and chicken with rice, white sauce, and barbecue sauce. It comes with a side of pita. This portion was huge. The food was hot. Everything was fresh. The staff was extremely friendly and now I will definitely be coming back to this location. This place does a lot of takeout but you can definitely sit if you want and eat your food. It's clean here. Nothing's messy or looks dirty very hygienic. I always make sure to stop by this Halal Guys location every single time that I'm in East Brusnwick. The quality of their platters has been consistently good. Great portion size - I'm personally able to get two servings out of a regular size platter. I always get the onion and green pepper toppings, extra white sauce and 3 lines of hot sauce - it hits every time! I LOVE spicy food, so their hot sauce is just the cherry on top of their fresh rice, soft chicken and gyro meat, and crisp lettuce/tomatoes. The service is extremely fast, even if there are people in line ahead of you. I generally take my platters to go, but it's cool to dine-in at their casual seating area from time to time, especially if I'm about to do some shopping in the same plaza. read more

This experience at this location was bad today. Ordered via their app. They literally gave no gyro meat in a mixed platter. I'm upset that they charge $15 for a 80% rice platter. I told myself I should try zinger express just up the road and didn't, now I'm upset. Some of the best "fast food" you'll have. This place is quick, fresh and consistent. If you've ever been to the food truck in the city, you'll love these brick and mortar locations. They definitely feel (and are) so much cleaner just as great. I always stick with the chicken platter and add white sauce and a tiiiiiny bit of the hot sauce. Beware, the hot sauce is super spicy! And the white sauce is oh so tasty - definitely a must! The rice is quite good. The lamb is just ok. They have a nice selection of lemonade and iced tea flavors. There are a few tables for eat in and the restaurant is clean. My order was very quickly prepared and the employees were friendly. read more

Very conveniently located within a big strip mall. I always like the quality of halal guys . And it's not insanely expensive . Chicken over rice costs about 12.5$ ... and u can get extra proteins if required. .. felafel was good .. nice and crispy . Lots of parking outside . Very quick billing and good customer service . Bought a platter, the chicken looked almost raw like pink or white, usually, if it was cooked, it would have a tinge of brown and will be appealing to eat. I've visited this location of The Halal Guys countless times since it's opened up. The food is always fresh and delicious! There may be a little wait and long lines during peak hours, but it always moves quickly and the food makes up for it! Also, there's not much seating at this place and it's mostly take out only. Their falafel sandwich/platters are amazing. But it's the sauces that brings everything together. It's all about that white sauce. Whatever the hell it is, brings everything together. Without it, the platters would be average. Be careful with the hot sauce, it's Lethally HOT. Price is reasonable and can have decent platter with Soda/water and extra pita with hummus under $15.00. They don't give extra white sauce for takeout so you have to pay $0.50 extra per packet. I am ok with giving them few extra bucks because I can pick this up in 20 mins from my house in East Brunswick and not have to drive to NYC for it! read more

Yummmm! Love the Halal Guys from Manhattan. Was so excited to see one close to home in New Jersey. I'll definitely be back. The food was good. Not as good as the city but good. I've been here twice so far. The first time was after they first opened. There was a super long line, but I love Halal Guys in NYC so I was happy when they opened near me! Unfortunately, I was disappointed. It definitely wasn't as good. The white sauce was too watery, and the flavor in the meats and rice were lacking. The second time was slightly better with the white sauce not being as watery. No more lines at least. Flavoring was still not as good. I know of some really good trucks in Brooklyn with chicken/lamb and rice that are like 10x better. I guess if you're in Jersey and craving it, go ahead. It's just not the same though. Really sad they aren't selling lamb and rice and have replaced it completely with beef. read more

I must say I was excited to try the halal guys....well I guess not too excited as they have been open for 9 months In any case I finally tried it and I enjoyed my meal Chicken and beef combo with lettuce tomatoes white sauce and hot sauce Decent size plate, just about filled me up I passed on the rice and did not eat the pita. The protein is seasoned well I agree with the other folks, piece of chicken would taste better than the shredded. There was so much hype about Halal Guys coming to NJ that I knew I had to wait a little after the grand opening to check it out. I came here a while back and I must say that this location is pretty darn close to the original Halal Guys in the city on 53rd and 6th. Maybe a slight difference between the two because it actually tastes cleaner/fresher here since it is made in a kitchen/restaurant and not on a cart. I'm really glad they opened one in NJ because I do know people who will drive all the way to the city for this (I am not one of them).  Not having to drive to the city for this, you avoid the tolls and all the crazy NYC traffic. As expected, the lines are long here (it went out the door but I did come on a Friday night) but they move quick! The prices are a bit higher but not by much (portion size about the same). That's the trade-off of not having to drive to the city, you pay for the convenience. Tables are very limited and there is no outdoor seating. I ordered the combo platter with a side of baklava. I enjoyed my platter but the baklava wasn't that good. It was way too sweet and not flaky at all, I don't recommend it. But overall, I was pretty satisfied with my experience and I will definitely stop by when I'm in the area again. read more
