A new restaurant with new paint, new faces and new inviting, modern and clean decor opened at a busy local intersection in North Brunswick. The food is above average, with some "but" notes. The taste is more bland than most other Mediterranean restaurants, which is actually a plus for you if you're avoiding too much salt and spice. The falafel, for instance, has this marvelous flavor that pleasantly invades your mouth, yet not salty -- but I have to say it's a bit too dry. The chicken over rice has great tasting basmati rice mixed with fresh veg salad and this killer white sauce. The chicken cheese steak is average and I would say is not their forte. The service... well here's what happened. The order for "Falafel on pita" was apparently misheard by the server as "Side salad and pita" (even after confirming while on the phone). Upon payment, I didn't see the falafel and inquired about the wrong order. The server appeared a bit agitated/annoyed but made the falafel on pita anyway and charged me for it without removing the incorrect pita+salad order. Hm.... math ain't quite right yet. He then called the owner, who spoke to me on the phone and after I explained the situation, apologized for the error and asked me to pick another item to get instead of refunding, and provided the salad for free. The simple pick-up has extended to be more than 30 minutes. I'm leaning toward a 3 or so -- so why the 4 stars? Credit for the yummy food, and the owner's actions who graciously provided the correction, and to allow for beginner's error (I know it's a chain with restaurants in NY, but hey I'm excited enough to see a new local restaurant open during this pandemic!) We will give it another try in the future to confirm the rating. read more

Horrible customer service today! I ordered fish over rice and the guy stated it be five minutes. I sat down waiting past five minutes while the guy talked to one of his friends over the counter. It was only until I walked up to the counter and said it's been over five minutes. Where's my Fish? He turns around and say oh it's right here. I'm like how long have my fish been waiting there? Service is terrible. The staff (the two guys in the front are very rude. Food is okay, nothing unusually special. The taste is certainly not worth tolerating the extremely ill mannered staff and the poor service standards. This is the second time I experienced these issues, so definitely not coming back again. Very tasty spot. Tried gyros from all around the area and these guys are in the top 2. The rest of the places in this area suck! I got a combo platter and the meat is good and not greasy and the rice is very good as well and I'm not a big fan of rice to begin with but it is good here. Sauces are also real good. They have a good variety of options when it comes to toppings which are included (including hummus) and sauces like green chutney and tahini. Good sized portion and overall solid spot for halal food.
