I loved my 8 night stay at the fairmont kea lani this year. I splurged a bit on the ocean view suite and it was worth every penny! Their suites are spacious and the lanai is perfect to watch sunsets every night. The pools are crowded and I did not use them but I did like the beach and service throughout the hotel. Check in was an easy process. Lux in particular was super nice and helped me deal with an issue I was having. They have a nice gym, I didn't use it as I having too much fun on this trip! Plenty of restaurants on site. Self parking is free and plenty so valet isn't necessary. My advice is to call the concierge before you arrive and book the complementary canoe ride as it gets filled fast. I called them from LA 2 weeks before arriving and got the last spot. It was one of the highlights of my trip! If you like great service, amazing views and like staying in South Maui, this is one of my favorite hotels there. I will definitely be back! read more

Staying at the Fairmont Kea Lani was a lovely experience for me and my wife's honeymoon. The resort was incredible and it's clear that it was designed intentionally and with care to the smallest detail from an architectural perspective. Additionally, the decor and staff showcased the incredibly rich cultural history of the area. The diverse flora around the resort was great as well. The parking lot was small as they were doing construction on a large portion of the lot. It was a struggle to find parking at times during our stay. Despite the limited parking, the valet parking garage with plenty of parking was still closed off. The room service was great. Staff were courteous and professional and service was provided very quickly. I forgot my phone charger in my car and staff went to the car and delivered the charger to my room. This was such a great example of service. Amenities such as a shave kit, soaps, additional coffee pods were also provided throughout our stay. One thing that was not provided that was requested, however was a lint roller. This seems like a simple accommodation that should be available at a 5-star resort. The room was clean and had great views of the resort and ocean. A corporate event was being hosted on the property which had a fire dancing ceremony. We were able to watch this from our room which was pretty cool. The only issue with the room was some difficulties connecting to the TV and accessing YouTube and Disney+. We ended up giving up on using the TV and watched TV on our laptop. Overall this was a wonderful stay, but fell a little short of what a 5-star resort experience should be. read more

This is a beautiful property, with gracious well trained staff, lovely rooms and a great location. The best aspect of the hotel is that all the rooms are spacious well appointed suites. If you're a couple and you are there for more than two days you'll appreciate the ability of the early riser to get up, make some coffee and hang on the lanai without disturbing the one of you who likes to sleep in. The bathroom was large and luxurious and supplied with really nice Le Labo soaps, shampoos and lotions. In addition, the property is immaculate and the public spaces are beautiful. There are three attractive pools -- one of which is adult only and there's a beach with attended lounge chairs at the bottom edge of the property. Our stay included the breakfast buffet, which had a wide assortment of choices that were nicely prepared. A downside of the hotel is that they host a number of corporate events and it can sometimes feel a bit crowded. Many mornings during our stay, there was a good size line at the host's station to be seated for breakfast. And once we were seated, navigating the buffet stations was a bit hectic. Similarly, the lounge chairs on the beach are within inches of each other. When sitting on your lanai, the music from one corporate cocktail event or another provides the soundtrack for the evenings. And one final nit -- the Nespresso capsules in the room were very nice, but the coffee served at breakfast was abysmal. So don't get me wrong. This is a very nice place and we had an enjoyable stay. But if you're sensitive to having your own space most of the time, this might not work for you. read more

We came in on a Friday night. Tired, excited, full of anticipation for the week ahead. Let me state up front, we got what we paid for. And then some. And then some. The suite was incredible. Roomy, spacious, on the top floor. Full ocean view, amazing sunsets. The works. This is the best Maui can offer. Spectacular. And I could go on and on with superlatives until I run out. Service was exceptional. Well, people in Hawaii suffer from what they call "Aloha Spirit", which probably means they are always happy and smiling. Surprisingly, it's easy to adapt to this spirit. But at Fairmont Kea Lani, they took it up a notch. All staff, from the breakfast maître d' to the last of the chamber maids, from the reception attendants to the concierge desk - all were courteous, helpful, listening. I am going to stop now before someone tells me that I'm overflowing with praise. Bottom line, this week was the best hotel week we ever experienced. This was our third stay at the Fairmont Kea Lani, and it continues to be one of our favorite resorts in Maui. The hospitality is consistently exceptional, and the property itself is absolutely beautiful. Every room is a spacious suite, which makes a huge difference, and the ocean views and beach are simply spectacular. The recently renovated suites have been updated thoughtfully and tastefully. The new lighting, technology, and modern finishes make the rooms feel fresh and luxurious while still maintaining the relaxed Hawaiian atmosphere. What truly sets the Fairmont Kea Lani apart is its outstanding customer service. On the last day of our trip, after checking out and returning our rental car, I realized at the airport that I had accidentally left my keys in the room safe. I immediately contacted the resort's Security Department, and Manny went above and beyond to help. He quickly arranged for a taxi to deliver my keys to the airport, allowing me to retrieve them in time and not miss my flight. I can't thank him enough for his kindness, professionalism, and sense of urgency. That level of service is something you don't forget. The only downside is the cost. Over the past 10-15 years, room rates have roughly doubled, putting what was once an attainable luxury out of reach for many travelers. The prices for the restaurants and room service have also become extremely expensive. That said, if it fits your budget, the Fairmont Kea Lani remains an exceptional resort with beautiful accommodations, incredible hospitality, and service that truly goes above and beyond. Came to Fairmont to celebrate our 20th anniversary and had the best time. It was our third time staying here, so we know our way around. Before I get into some pro tips, I want to give a special shoutout to: -Liliana and the management for a wonderful check-in experience and the lovely welcome gifts to celebrate our anniversary. -Kaleo at the adult pool was the epitome of Aloha vibes. He not only took great care of us, but also taught us a bit about local culture, customs, and local foodie spots. This guy is a gem and deserves a promotion. -Barry at the breakfast buffet is the kindest and nicest person. He made sure we had everything we needed and even packed us a cup of pastries for our return flight. Thank you! Everyone working here was exceptionally friendly and beyond nice to us. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said about some of the entitled guests, who treated my new "friends" poorly. A little kindness goes a long way, so please don't be a jerk to these hard-working people. This hotel has probably one of the highest resort fees I've ever seen, but they actually offer a ton of amenities, so make sure to take advantage of the: -Daily activity and fitness classes (yoga, lei making, ukulele, etc.) -Free shuttle around Wailea -Water toys and beachside chairs -Free sunscreen and aftersun care at the pools -Stainless steel water bottles with water stations around the hotel -LeLabo bath products I do have to admit that knowing about all of the benefits is hard, especially when it's your first time here. Anniversary trip and first time staying at the Fairmont; glad it was at this location. For context, husband and I walked into and toured all the resorts along the wailea beach path and agree that Fairmont was #1 based on our preferences (yes, even compared to Four Seasons based on overview of pool amenities haha). Although the only other resorts I actually stayed at were Andaz and Wailea Beach Resort Marriott. Reason being that rooms are exceptional (all suites) and I highly recommend upgrading to ocean view if possible. They have prime real estate directly facing the sunset, making each night so memorable. For amenities, pools are more spread out and does not feel as claustrophobic compared to Four Seasons in my opinion. I'd choose Fairmont again for our next trip. Special shout out to the housekeeper going above and beyond who shapes our lei into a heart each time they tidy our place. This person deserves a raise/promotion. Barry the manager at the hotel breakfast buffet also feels like family; just so warm and friendly. Also deserves a raise or promotion. read more

We stayed four nights in a pool-side suite which came with a walk-out patio door to a table and four chairs, two lounge chairs (no umbrella), and a nice chair and footstool for reading/relaxing. It looked like our 108 suite plus two others had a ocean view, but the other pool-side suites would have more a view of the pool. The suite's lounge chairs had a cushion that was thinner than the pool-side lounge chairs which was green and quite plush. The suite has two double beds, large bathroom with separate tub and double sink plus a nice laundry basket for dirty towels and a wooden rack for hanging a wet bathing suit. The living area has a large sectional couch, TV, table and chairs for dining, and the coffee/microwave area. Tea kettle, microwave, and refrigerator, and a Nespresso Vertuo coffee maker. The white stainless steel Fairmont Kea Lani water bottles are the nicest water bottles we have ever had - keeping water cold, lift up straw and a white ring for carrying. Water stations in the hotel and by the pool. At the pool is reef-safe suntan and after sun lotion in SPF 30 and 50 that you can use. There are nice white covers for the lounge chairs and plenty of towels. There is a smaller, colder adult lap pool and hot tub (hot) and good size family pools with a slide and less hot hot tub. One of the special things about the Fairmont is the Hawaiian cultural center (Hale Kukuna) in the lobby, with lovely artifacts showcasing some of the culture and books you can read, and the cultural activities: Hula, ukelele, lei making (we made a ti leaf bracelet), and language classes. Ke'ala is a hula dancer who has performed around the world for many years and truly exemplifies the aloha spirit. I loved her hula, lei making, and ukulele classes. One of my favorite memories is the ukulele class where Ke'ala and Kapono were playing along with me and singing a beautiful song about Haleakala. Ho'ohu is another lovely teacher who I enjoyed meeting and talking with in her hula class. Tips: - The outrigger canoe excursion can get booked up, so make reservations with the Concierge even before you arrive. Ours got cancelled due to the waves and unfortunately, it was full for the subsequent days. - Parking is free. I saw a Fairmont van at the other hotel we stayed at, so I think there is a service to take you to another restaurant within a certain distance. - Shops at Wailea (also restaurants and a good gourmet/grab and go or on-demand food market - Island Gourmet Markets (love the Chicken Teriyaki)). Need to drive or see if the van will take you or about a mile away. - You will need to scan the QR code to see the list of activities - cultural, exercise and water activities. Note that the hula and ukulele classes did not show up on the Android/iPhone version, but did show up in the tablet and possibly the computer version. Suggest you go to the Concierge to have them print you a schedule of the activities for when you are there, so you can see all of them. - There is a lovely path connecting the hotels and along the cliff-side with stunning views of the ocean. Suggestions for improvement: - Fix the Android/iPhone version of the activity schedule so that the hula, ukulele classes show up consistently. Suggest ensuring the classes show up under "culture" option and "all" activity option since currently they are not showing up on the phone version. - A paper copy of the week's activities would be appreciated and easier than navigating several screens and clicks on the phone to try and see activities. Mention the walkway next to beach and the Fairmont van transportation would be nice. At the next hotel we stayed at, we got a nice sheet with the week's schedule, daily activities, and special cultural activities along with additional extra cost, special activities. - Consider having some activities in the evening after dinner. I was torn between enjoying the sun/pool/ocean and going to a class. - Add some additional hula and lei/weaving classes for people who are staying a week so different things are learned. We totally loved our stay at the Fairmont and look forward to coming back. read more

Our stay at Fairmont Kea Lani had some positive moments thanks to Luz, Dani, the bell team, and the kind staff at Ko Restaurant and Pilina Bar. However, the overall experience was disappointing and stressful, especially given the circumstances of our trip. This was my children's first real vacation, and we were celebrating two birthdays (mine and my 8 year old daughter) which the hotel was aware of in advance. Unfortunately, there was no acknowledgment at all -- not even a small gesture like a cookie or note, which was surprising for a luxury family resort that promotes personalized guest experiences. We were traveling with three children (one on crutches) and a medically fragile senior with mobility limitations, yet staff did not provide meaningful assistance coordinating accessible airport transportation, forcing us to rely on Uber to make our flight home. The front desk only consistently made me aware of how expensive transportation costs were, as if I could not afford it! I was highly offended. Why would I vacation in Wailea if I can't afford to go to the airport? Why even bring that up? On our departure day, we requested a hospitality suite so our family could shower before a evening flight. Multiple staff members incorrectly told us no such option existed and suggested we use public outdoor beach showers where kids wash their feet off, which is not appropriate for children or an elderly disabled guest. Another staff member suggested that I purchase a spa pass for $75 per person to shower before our flight, but said the children could not shower there. Only after repeatedly asking multiple front desk employees, did Luz, my saving grace, who obviously has common sense, arranged our access to a hospitality suite at the last minute. I was charged $350 for the hospitality suite, but I appreciate her professionalism. read more

It's been almost 10 years since I've been to Maui and the last visit I stayed in Kapalua, wasn't able to get to Wailea so I was excited to explore the south end of the island. The hotel is beautiful, the lobby is open and airy and the valets are all amazing.. honestly the friendliest people there. Check in was easy, we were staying in a villa and were able to check in an hour early which was nice to relax a little. The villa itself was great, steps from the ocean and private, not on the open law which was nice. The adult pool per usual was a lot of older guests who put towels out at 8AM for their seats which is annoying but why go to the poll when you're steps from the beach. Loved that they can set chairs up for you vs. here are X amount of chairs to find for your group. Note this is pretty family friendly so lots of kids, even in October. It was probably fall break for some. I like the location being at the end of hotels in Wailea, it feels private and the size is great. Not a mega resort like the Grand Wailea or the Andaz. Overall, the service is great, most people were friendly and kind. Would recommend the Fairmont to anyone. read more

A "5 Star" that acts like a 3 Star. The Fairmont has spacious rooms, but the overall experience was underwhelming for the price. The pools were fine but nothing memorable. We skipped the resort restaurants because there were better-rated options nearby. The service had no "fine touches" that said luxury. Think the service level of a Courtyard Marriott. Nice, but not special. The valet staff was excellent and the clear highlight of the service. Beyond that, service was poor, especially at the pool and beach. We chose the Fairmont for its beach access and chair service, but the beach chair service ends at 4:30 p.m., and there is no food or drink service on the beach. To get anything, you have to walk back up into the resort, which is inconvenient. Pool service was also very limited. Several times there was no attendant available, so we had to get our own towels, and servers were hard to find. Across multiple visits, I was only checked on once. For a resort centered on the pool and beach experience, the service did not meet expectations. read more

We absolutely loved our time at the Fairmont Kea Lani. The front desk staff was very helpful. First, when we checked in we mentioned we had a Costco deal that included valet parking, but they didn't have that in their system. No worries, because the woman checking us in immediately ensured it was on our account so that we didn't get charged for it. Next, we needed to make change for tips with the cash we brought, and the front desk was able to do that without a hiccup. We also loved the cleaning staff, who ensured we had plenty of caramel nespresso (it was SO GOOD) after noticing we kept drinking it all, and constant friendliness every time we passed. Lastly, the pool staff were so helpful. The number of chairs around the pool are very few, and I have some younger kids so we wanted a spot by the pool to ensure safety. The team did a great job ensuring they supported us in finding a spot during days where it was super busy, or checking in on us and saying hi. Overall, this was a great resort for kids. We went during Christmas, and there were events like feeding the koi (probably happens outside of Christmas!), or Santa arriving on an outrigger canoe and then drinks while waiting in line to snap pics with Santa. My kiddos were delighted with a sweet ornament and some Maui Pineapple cookies we received as a holiday treat! The pool and water slide were fun, the beach was perfect for a great beach day. It felt luxurious but not so expensive, which also made the vibes immaculate. We also were able to walk to other resorts easily for a luau (great for group transportation!), and the food at the market was great for small bites for breakfast instead of worrying about an expensive buffet for kiddos. There's enough food options at the onsite restaurants to please everyone. Note: restaurants do close early here, so plan accordingly. The location of this property is clutch. Located at the southern end of Wailea, the hotel sits in a secluded and peaceful region. The beachside trail allows for a scenic stroll northbound past other higher-end hotels and eventually near the (small) shopping district. From the absolutely beautiful grounds, spacious room interiors, tasteful architecture, attentive staff, high tech touches in the room, to the finely selected toiletries in the bathrooms. I booked a 14 day stay at the hotel. The hotel customer service has definitely fallen. I have stayed at this hotel several times over the past twenty years and unfortunately my current stayed is terrible. If you don't book direct with the hotel you are put in a different category when checking in to the hotel. We were put in south tower in the middle of rooms occupied by a conference group. When asked why the hotel said they don't have control and have no rooms available with king beds in the tower we requested at the beginning of the year. The hotel rooms and suits were remodeled two years back and the hotel is not maintained and the quality is lacking. For $800.00 a night you done expect this from a high end hotel. read more

Beautiful resort, staff is extremely helpful and kind and concierge is very knowledgeable and helpful in planning any outings. They offer a 24 hour free shuttle within a certain area. My negatives ... only 2 places for lunch on site and the main one at the pool has a wait , or it's sushi. Which the food at both are delicious, but would prefer more options to eat than basically one place. The Market ran out of most breakfast items by 10am, and I needed a car rental and had to be shuttled off site as they were out of vehicles. All was fine, but for the price, meals shouldn't be so difficult. Also, there are not many bathrooms near the pools and they are difficult to find. If you're on the beach, it's a hike to use the restroom. The suite bathrooms have an open shower, I prefer a door for the privacy, but it's all very beautiful. read more

I did ask for them to put rose pedals on the bed for our honeymoon and they did not, but we did get a complimentary bottle of Champaign so I never complained! We loved the adults only infinity pool, and the location to go snorkeling by the reef is Perfect!! I highly recommend doing a snorkeling excursion while you are here it is awesome!!! My family and I have been to many resorts, while the grounds are smaller than the Grand Wailea up the street, the rooms here are MUCH nicer. We got upgraded to a corner suite. Also great little sheltered beach. But the absolute best part is the market on the terrace level. They sell really really good bfast and lunch foods, plus drinks etc, for extremely reasonable prices. Don't order the usual $57 chix strips by the pool ... just go here. Our first night we had the burger and a pizza. I was floored by how good it was and how reasonably priced. read more

Our family's favorite resort in Maui. We've stayed here five times over the past decade, and it continues to exceed our expectations. The spacious one-bedroom suites, each with a balcony, are perfect for families. The pools are fantastic and never feel overcrowded, and the water slide is always a hit with the kids. The resort goes above and beyond with thoughtful touches, like a complimentary shuttle that takes you anywhere in Wailea, and great service for DoorDash orders (they'll even provide plates and utensils if you ask). Most restaurants, even the fancy ones, have a kids menu with food they'll enjoy. The breakfast buffet is incredible, and parking is a breeze, included in the resort fee. The only thing it's missing is sports courts (like tennis or basketball) that you might find at other high-end resorts like the Ritz--but that's the only downside. The lush, beautifully maintained grounds and private beach make it feel like your own slice of paradise. We couldn't recommend it enough. read more

We walked there from the Grand Wailea and wanted a nice breakfast buffet but they tried to charge my 2-year-old toddler $30. I don't mind paying for my other two young children but for my toddler $30 is insane. I'll be lucky if he eats two pieces of bacon and some fruit. If you're staying at their hotel, kids age 6 and under are free, I get it that's their policy but come on, he's 2 yo. They would rather lose $200 in sales and make - $40 tip and turn us away. Our suite was so clean it was more than hospital clean. It was our anniversary and everyone celebrated that with us. The restaurants celebrated with us the entire stay. Alfred is a great manager he gave us a beautiful farewell hand written card. The property grounds were more than beautiful. Even our balcony was clean no dirt. The beds a very good restful night. The food at the restaurants all very good. The Fairmont Kea Lani is worth your visit. Again the staff seem happy to serve you as a guest. read more

I stayed at this lovely resort during a work event for my wife in May 2024. From the minute that you pull up to the valet in front of the open air lobby, it was top notch. Every employee that we encountered in this resort was very nice and helpful. The rooms are all suites, with separate living and sleeping areas. The bathroom was incredibly large. The balcony was large with great views of the pacific. We both enjoyed having drinks at the pool bar, the bartenders were always nice and accommodating. The beach had nice soft sand, but the surf beat me up a little this week. The only downside was that we had to go home. read more

I recently stayed at the Kea Lani and was very impressed with almost every aspect of our visit. Upon arrival we were greeted by the bell team who all had big smiles on their face and appeared genuinely happy to be of service. Robert, Danny and Nacho all seemed to have pride in their role and it showed in the way they welcomed us and tended to our luggage, quickly whisking it away and delivering it to our suite, providing us each a lei and asking about our plans for our stay. They made a wonderful first impression. Our check in was quick and easy. The front desk agents named Charito and Luz were so kind to us and made sure our questions were answered. The way they spoke to us like old friends or family is what sticks out in my mind. It felt cozy if that makes sense:) The suite was BEAUTIFUL and the view was breathtaking. See video attached. Our time at the pool was great! The Spicy tuna roll served pool side was one of the best I've had! Our guided canoe experience was really fun and such a beautiful way to start our day. Lei making in the Hawaiian Cultural Center was fun and the daily Ukulele music was so relaxing. We dined at Pilina one of the evenings and although we didn't love everything we ordered, the staff was very attentive in noticing that we weren't eating one of the sushi rolls we ordered and went above and beyond to remove it from our bill and find an alternative option for us. Chris was top notch, thank you Chris. Overall, we had a magical time at the Fairmont Kea Lani and highly recommend it to those coming to Maui! read more
