I love supporting small businesses so I will be generous. PROS: -Great location -Quaint and cool interior -Server was good -Prices were decent -Good homemade mashed potatoes CONS: -Pulled pork was just not good at all. Not smokey, mushy, very sweet and so salty that I could not eat it. Very disappointing. -Fries were so salty that they were not edible. -Blackened chicken sandwich was way salty -Cole slaw was bland -Overhead music was not good Overall, we would not return because of the salt content and the pulled pork. read more

I was definitely happy at The Happy Hog! This place is delicious and love the vibe here too, chill and happy! My family started with an order of pork rinds, one Nashville hot and one plain. The pork rinds are definitely homemade and so good! A must order. The Nashville hot are spicy, so be aware, also have a sweet note as well. I ordered the Nashville hot chicken sandwich which was tender chicken with the dry rub type Nashville hot spice which was so good. The fries are handcut and cooked perfectly. My husband got the smash burger with a double and said it was the best smash burger he's ever had. Plus he said the collards should be world famous. My girls got the two hotdog special and it was a nice beef dog and buttered bun. Additional, they have gluten free buns here! My mom has a gluten allergy so it's always a nice perks for her if she gets to have a bun with her burger and she said their choice of gluten free buns is excellent. The ranch here deserves its own paragraph. Hands down amazing. Drink selections are beers, wine, sodas, tea lemonade, and even apple juice for the kids. My mom and I enjoyed a white wine and my husband and dad had beer. Service here was so kind and so attentive!!! My daughter's meals came out with the appetizers which is always a nice touch, as anyone with a kid knows! They gave them a coloring sheet and crayons too. The restaurant is clean and located in the heart of pearisburg downtown right on the corner. The decor is hog happy and love the small town feel! We had a really good dining experience that it helped that we came in there rather hungry and ordered a bunch of things off the menu. Smash burgers, collard greens, deviled eggs, pork rinds, corn bread. Everything tasted good. The cornbread and collards were extra special. If we ever find ourselves back in this part of Virginia, we will definitely return. The sweet young girl who waited on us, I wish I could remember her name, but was extra special. We had a lovely dinner and a fun time at open mic night (every Monday). Everything we tried was top notch and seasoned perfectly. We tried the pork rinds with the Nashville Hot seasoning and they came to the table warm and delicious. We also had an appetizer of deviled eggs. My husband was so happy to see these on the menu and he loved them. My meal of fried cornmeal battered shrimp, the crispiest fries, and pinto bean soup was very tasty. My husband was thoroughly pleased with his meal of a Nashville Hot chicken sandwich and corn chowder. They also have a great selection of beer and wine. I was too stuffed to try their selection of desserts, but if I had room my choice would have been the butterscotch pie or the peanut butter cake. We had heard about this great BBQ place in Pearisburg, which is a cool small town just off of the Appalachian Trail, so we stopped in at our first opportunity. I was determined to try the pulled pork, but the friendly folks at the table next to us told me I HAD to try the beef stroganoff, which I did- and my life is so much richer for it! The name undersells the perfect mushroom sauce with the pasta, mushrooms, and beef tips that make up a huge bowl of comfort food! The specials change, so take the magic that's being made that day and enjoy the ride! The Tabby Cat Fries provide a great taste tour of the menu (spoiler alert, it's all awesome!). OMG, I wish we lived close by because we would come here ALL the time!! I didn't want to feel gross, so I got the chicken pot pie instead of the BBQ dinner... Immediately regretted it, lol. I tried some of my fiancé's pulled pork, mashed potatoes, and Mac n cheese, and ohhh my goodness, it was all DELICIOUS... Like, I really think it was the best BBQ dinner I've ever had, and of course this was the ONE time that I didn't get the BBQ at a BBQ place. The waitress was very friendly and chill, which was basically the vibe in this cute little restaurant. Even small things, like our side salads -- they make all their own salad dressings so they were made even better with the delicious dressings. We even bought three homemade cookies to go! I have been to the happy hog several times. I enjoy the chicken pot pie and the spicy chicken sandwich. If you get the French fries, make sure you get a side of ranch. The homemade ranch dressing is the best around! Make sure you save room for dessert! The pies are amazing. read more

This is the absolutely best place to eat in Pearisburg, VA hands down. The food is excellent. The staff is excellent. A true gem in Giles County. Five stars and two thumbs way up. The first time my hubs and I ate there, I had the BBQ pork sandwich and he had the smash burger. Hot and tasty is the best way to describe our meals. The second time that we visited, which was Friday October 18th, we both got the smash burgers with fries. Excellent! Knocked it out of the park. They even had a gentleman playing the keyboard to add to the atmosphere of the evening. I can't wait until we go again. read more

Go on an empty stomach, or you'll need a box for the amount of food you receive. I got the Smash Burger with fries, and it did not disappoint. Bacon on it was crispy, and the caramelized onions didn't overpower the burger. Service is excellent, with the waitress making sure my drink was full at all times. Parking is found behind the restaurant, so that makes it even nicer. It has a very laid back vibe that I enjoyed. Tip: if you want the specials like the Roast Beef Melt, be sure to get there early because they apparently sell out quickly. I'll be sure to be back. read more

I discovered this place while hiking nearby. The vibe is casual friendly. The food is great, nice portions, and reasonably priced. I thought this restaurant was well worth a visit! Our server was wonderful! Food was good in particular the sides including cheddar grits and a very unique but really good collard greens. I ordered the pork chop, blackened, and the flavor was nice - it was a bit too dry for me but still good. The price is also amazing here. I definitely recommend! read more
