So it's day two of the opening of the Waterside District Marketplace. We dined at The Harbor Club on the second floor and I believe this is the only bar/restaurant/Lounge on the second floor and it's beautifully designed! it has an outdoor patio as well ... views of the Elizabeth River ....boats docking and sailing you can see the ferry dock as well as the American Rover it's just beautiful and I'm sure it's even nicer at night when they turn on the lights and you see the glow from the water and the skyline... breathtaking. This is exciting for Norfolk Waterside the second third time around... hopefully it's going to be here to stay. The Harbour Club is definitely going to be a special asset to the District. Very sexy in here! We dined in for their happy hour. We were able to check in with one of the party host for an extended happy hour instead of it being until 7 pm with our yellow wristbands it was extended until 9 p.m. Drink specials only! Happy hour included draft specials, Margaritas were $5 and well drinks I believe for $4 and wine was $4 as well no food specials. This restaurant only features tapas so it's basically meant to come: chill, take a bite of something and just enjoy the atmosphere. I'm not sure if they play music but I can see where as they would push the lounge table and chair's back or take up the chairs and tables and have an open dance floor So excited to see how the night life will be in here. We arrived a little after 5pm... traffic was crazy on Waterside Dr. The atmosphere oozes high energy!! We sat at the bar (large bar) where our bartender was Katharine AKA Kate and she made us some grrrrreat Margaritas!! She's legit see her if you're in here!! The restrooms are on the outside of the restaurant so it's a short walk. If you want to dine on the patio you can do that as well. The Baja tacos which I had were absolutely good I didn't know they had onions on them but other than that they were still good. The harbor sliders they were very good as well with a handful of chips that I believe are homemade... cost $50 so you can't beat that looking forward. TVs are positioned around the perimeter of the club. And there are two bars located inside this club. The wait staff seems a little scattered but they managed to care for all. Parking is available via: the garages, meter parking. The food did take a lonnnnng to come. I'm not not sure why. While time was passing by we were high off of the energy in the club! Tapas and a full bar can be found here... mostly seafood. So much enthusiasm and high energy in the atmosphere where as time went by super fast but still the food should have came out a little bit sooner than what it did. read more

It was honestly a terrible experience, especially because I had an allergic reaction due to the wrong dish being delivered. The service was very slow and they also made a mistake on our check. Would not recommend going there for food. I'm sure it's a great place for drinks next to the harbor. read more

Stopped by to try this place for the first time and turns out there was a private event happening, but no signs were posted so we waited at the host stand for a second before we were approached by a staff member who rudely shushed us out like a bouncer rushing people out at the end of the night. Vice politely stating there was a private event and asking us to leave. 2 stars solely due to first impressions based on the staff interactions. read more

I came here on a Sunday during their opening weekend for a blogger meetup. The staff at Waterside was aware of our visit and gave us a tour of the entire building prior to us sitting down to eat. They asked us to order first and then go for the tour so our food would be ready when we returned. Unfortunately in doing so, when we returned the food was cold so that was disappointed. There are 11 food items on their menu, and unfortunately they were out of about half of them. So we ordered Roasted Red Pepper Hummus, Mini Lobster Rolls, Coconut Shrimp, Lobster Bites, and the Harbor Club Sliders. The hummus tasted exactly how you would expect it, so I wont speak on that. The lobster bites were plump, and not heavily fried with too much batter. There was promise to the sliders, which were topped with caramelized onions, and came with a side of chips, but since they were cold it wasn't satisfying to eat. I tried their food again at a catered event PBR where they had kabobs and steak sliders. They were delicious and I wish that some of those items are featured on the regular menu. I definitely want to go back and try what I originally wanted to try which was the Ahi Tuna Stack and Lobster Tacos and Crab Roll Stack. Its been a few months so I would hope that they have since improved. read more

During my visit to The Harbor Club there were 2 major parties (one wedding) taking over the entire outside balcony. Lucky we are friendly people and after chatting up the grandmother of the bride we eventually crashed the party and made our way onto the balcony to enjoy the view of the Harbor. I sat at the bar with my friend and had a few drinks and appetizers. The bartender was nice enough but service was extremely slow due to the big parties . We ordered: * An Old fashioned (bourbon drink) the ice Cube was in the shape of a skull. Drink was made well! *Lobster Tacos- Yum! * Tuna stack. Was really good. I would order it again. A few of the chips were a tad soggy. When we asked for a few more the waitress basically said she would try but alluded to the fact it probably would t happen... and it didn't! The lack of attempt was a big customer service No No for me. However, I'll try them again. ~ read more

I attended the Junior League's Brunched event held at The Harbor Club this past weekend. What a really great venue. It's bright... But we were there from 11am to 2pm with a lot of amazing natural light to fill the place. The venue is quite spacious and beautiful inside. I was reminded of looking out over the water when it was a Hooter's several years ago... A much better use of the space now. Plenty of seating with lounge areas, the bar, and the outdoor patio overlooking the Elizabeth River. Top tip: sit outside if the weather is gorgeous. There aren't a lot of views this good in Norfolk. On nice days, like when I was just there, they open the doors that allow for a nice breeze into the place. TVs fill the place throughout that are connected to one central system, a good feature for events, as the Junior League had a rolling slideshow of all their sponsors. I didn't interact too much with The Harbor Club staff although they were helpful with getting us drinks. A couple of folks kept pretty busy keeping the place clean as people were trying foods throughout the venue. Definitely a great place to host an event for 100+ people. read more

Husband and I stopped in here for a light lunch and drinks and boy were we impressed! The service was spectacular, food was delish and the space is beautiful! The atmosphere is very open and inviting and I loved that the dining area had the feel of being in some very stylish person's living room. The food menu consists of small plates and they have an extensive cocktail menu. We each got the lobster tacos and they were fantastic! They had just the right amount of spice to compliment the buttery lobster and the crispy slaw added just the right amount of crunch. I had wine with my food, but the cocktail menu was seriously impressive! This is a perfect place to relax with a drink and it's an ideal place to go for post work drinks to shake off the day. We will definitely be coming back and I plan to work my way through some of those cocktails next time we come! read more

We went and asked if they had an outdoor seating as we wanted to sit outside and enjoy some drinks after a Norfolk Tides ball game. The host (black guy, bald, in a tux) said, "No, that's the restaurants downstairs." Pictures on Instagram and Facebook clearly indicate they indeed have outdoor seating. Very unwelcoming and they seem very interested in letting in the "right people" because you know.....Waterside is only for the fancy....not the people interested in spending money in downtown Norfolk because they believe in the area and want to see it thrive. The selection for alcohol is extremely sub-par for a bar. The area is great and very spacious, but the selection of food is very small. Honestly the place is great, but it needs a lot of work on the menu selections from the bar and kitchen. read more

My friends and I were here on the second floor for some drinks and hangout time... there are better options for a drink and hangout place. Our waitress was great but the other staff seemed to give us attitude and dirty looks. Ehh, whatever. The drinks were fine, but over priced. Book your parties elsewhere! I've tried contacting this restaurant several times over the last two weeks through email (no response), by phone (called more Times than I can count and couldn't leave a voicemail because the managers mailbox was full!) and even in-person (restaurant was CLOSED all three times I tried to arrive during posted "normal" business hours)!! Either management is terrible or they've got a bunch of people asleep in the back offices! I'm done. Book your events at other amazing restaurants in or around Waterside - just not the Harbor Club! Went here for a closed party/work function! Staff was very nice and attentive and the place was very clean!

Had a wonderful time seating out on the patio and listening to the band. Specialty drinks we had were great! We will be back soon.

Variety of restaurants in there. You can take beverages outside and enjoy the view. Love the view!! Must go see!

View and atmosphere is stunning. That's where it ends. $6 for domestic beer and the hour wait for fish tacos I could've gotten at some place like applebees (it wasn't even crowded ) was disappponting. Waitress we're totally unhelpful and everything seemed like it was hassle. When they put one of our friends drinks on our tab by mistake, we asked them to remove/change it and the girl's response was, "well, you're gonna have to wait, its kind of a process. I'll have to go find a manager". The whole place is cheesy and overpriced for what you get. Ugh. read more

Went here to hangout for the Chase Rice concert and it was busy (which I completely understand) but the bartenders were rude, management was rude, and there is so many other ways to handle a situation rather than they did with mine. I started a tab on one side of the bar but as the night went on I was getting more from the other side because it was quicker. As I went to pay the bill, the bartender then proceeds to tell me that she wrote walk-out on my tab and hands it to me and is very apologetic but also has a slight attitude. Okay, that's fine that you "didn't see me for awhile" but you could have asked other bartenders if they had seen me or rang drinks up under my name and so on. Also you could have printed out a new receipt without the words "walk-out" or WAITED until it was time to run checks through the system AFTER you were closed so that you aren't profiling someone who was actually being respectful. So, I then proceed to leave over a 20% tip (I've worked in restaurants so I understand mistakes happen) and she walks over and snatches it with an attitude. At this point I'm annoyed, you've profiled me, and now that I'm still being nice about it you want to be rude once again by snatching it and rolling your eyes at me? So I proceed to ask for the manager and when I walk over to explain the situation I get laughed at and told to leave. So the bartender runs over and says that she had apologized but forgot to mention how rude she was about it as she's saying this with an attitude. The manager proceeds to say "she has apologized what else am I supposed to do?" Well first off you could apologize for your staff member being rude, you could at least take a drink off, you could act like you care about your customers, or maybe not have an attitude. After this he says he will take the tip off, but guess who still got charged for it?!? Me!! Then proceeds to push me out the door and while I'm waiting for the rest of my group he is telling me to leave. Harbor Club also charged a few of my other friends twice for only the one tab they had open. This place is nothing but rude to people. read more

I just wanted to say this is my all time favorite sport in Downtown Norfolk. The food is good I enjoy the sliders and the bay season chips are my favorite. The Harbor club property is in attractive property on the second floor of the waterside district tucked in the corner so its easy to miss unfortunately. Definitely a hidden gem though! The restaurant has an open feel to it so if it gets packed it never feels like your on top of other Guest. the atmosphere is very beach loungey feel to it. To me it feels like a hot spot that is straight out of Hampton new york its very Bay-ish feeling and classy. I love the décor a lot! It is definitely the it spot for their concerts as well when they have fireworks going on downtown the patio is definitely a million dollar view. The service is Great and the staff is soo friendly. I want to Shout out my friend TRAVIS ABEYTA very attentive, hardworking and polite. Even when he has the patio and looks like he is running around like crazy never skips a beat! I Also want to shout out to the hostess KAYLA she is very knowledgeable about the restaurant and the menu also with the entertainment that goes on at waterside. The bartenders also are Fabulous kept a conversation going while I was waiting on my friend to get off from work. and they also kept my thirst quenched with dessert cocktails that were custom made!! you guys rock!
