Drive-thru Jurassic Quest!…read more We came here after original Jurassic Quest, which was supposed to be at the convention center, was postponed due to COVID. It went from being about $30 a person to $50 a car. This was really awesome and my two-year old son loved it! The tour was fully equipped with life sized dinos, an audio tour paired with each stop and it all ended with a giant prehistoric shark, the megalodon! The tour took about an hour to fully complete and there was swag booth at the end filled with all sorts of toys and JQ merchandise. There was option to go at night or during the day and we opted for the day tour. With the hopes of avoiding any night terrors... we succeeded! This has come and gone through Nashville, but when it returns, I highly recommend it for those dino loving kids!

I attended the Borchetta Bourbon Music City Grand Prix at Nashville Superspeedway, and…read moreunfortunately it was one of the most poorly organized events I've ever attended. I left feeling like I wasted both my time and my money. The transportation system was confusing from the moment we arrived. The maps online and even many event employees didn't understand that there were two completely separate tram routes. One tram ran between the front gate and the garage area, while another ran from the front gate to the rideshare area. I was repeatedly told there was one continuous loop and that every tram eventually went to rideshare. That was completely false. We only learned the truth after finding a small information booth inside the gate. Basic transportation information should never be that difficult to obtain. I also paid extra for garage access, expecting a behind-the-scenes experience. What wasn't disclosed anywhere online was that there is essentially no shade for spectators. The teams worked comfortably inside covered garages while paying guests stood in direct Tennessee summer sun. There was very little visibility into the garages, very few worthwhile photo opportunities, and almost no reason to pay the additional fee. It was a complete waste of money. Another surprise was that energy drinks weren't sold anywhere inside the gates. 5 Hr Energy and Liquid Death both sponsor race teams. A minor annoyance compared to the overall experience. The premium seating experience wasn't much better. Access relied on three manual elevators, with only two operating for the public. A staff member had to radio each elevator to coordinate trips. It took us approximately 30 minutes just to get from the elevator line to our seats. That is simply unacceptable for a premium ticket experience. Weather delays were handled poorly as well. Event officials repeatedly announced that "the weather wasn't cooperating," but failed to clearly explain that they were closing the gates and forcing spectators to wait outside during multiple lightning delays. Guests stood outside the entrance for well over an hour--more than once--without meaningful communication. It also felt as though officials delayed making difficult decisions because the race was being televised on FOX. The race start was already delayed while the FIFA Club World Cup broadcast ran long, and by the time the television schedule cleared, additional storms had moved into the area. Hours later the race was finally called. When lightning threatened again, the trams to the rideshare area stopped operating entirely. Hundreds of guests were left waiting in a small shelter with no clear information. The only alternative was walking roughly a mile uphill to the rideshare lot. The Gray Line shuttle service was equally frustrating. Buses weren't scheduled to depart until one hour after the race was officially called. Since officials waited several hours before canceling, many guests didn't get back to their hotels until late in the evening after spending hours simply waiting. To make matters worse, because the race was officially postponed rather than canceled, there were no refunds for fans who couldn't stay an extra day to attend the rescheduled event. I understand that weather is beyond anyone's control. What is within an organizer's control is communication, transportation, crowd management, logistics, and setting realistic expectations. Unfortunately, this event failed in nearly every one of those areas. I have attended many professional sporting events over the years, and this was easily among the most disorganized. Between the confusing transportation, poor communication, inadequate facilities, premium experiences that didn't deliver, and the complete lack of contingency planning, I cannot recommend attending the Nashville Superspeedway INDYCAR event. There are far better motorsports experiences where spectators are treated with far more professionalism and respect.

Once everyone was there, the staff did a great job explaining the process and getting us logged in for our races. The equipment worked well, the cars ran smoothly, and the track had space for pictures and memories. It was competitive but fun, and everyone enjoyed themselves. This is the kind of activity that works really well for groups or teams. It gets everyone involved, and the staff make it easy.

We drove with friends to Nashville, Tennesse to be apart of the Inaugural Big Machine Music City…read moreGrand Prix in August, 2021 on the 2.17 mile long road course on the streets of Nashville. Downtown Nashville was packed with fans exploring the city, all types of live music playing from clubs, food trucks, restaurants and hotels bursting at the seams and fans excited with anticipation for the first road course race in downtown. They expected approximately 100k race fans and it appeared the numbers didn't disappoint. We considered staying in a downtown hotel but looked into an Airbnb. We stayed in a comfortable, gated, 2 Bdrm, Kit, LR, BA, Airbnb with free parking and just a few minutes from downtown. Financially splitting the weekend rental was still cheaper than most of the downtown hotels. We parked in a large parking garage just a block from the Shelby Street Pedestrian Bridge (crossing the Cumberland River) while we were sightseeing and during race activities. Super convenient since we had to cross the Pedestrian Bridge anyway to get to and from our gate entrance. This course was obviously designed to challenge the drivers and keep fans excited. This temporary track takes racers by Nissan Stadium (home of the NFL Tennessee Titans) and over the Korean War Veterans Memorial Bridge (553 yds of bridge) into downtown Nashville. Seating and viewing throughout the course provide a different perspective from the various turns as with all races. Our seats were good and directly in front of one of the Jumbo video boards as I requested when researching potential seats. Unfortunately, there were a row of existing trees directly in front of the video board. This left us with very little opportunity to see the cars except for a brief 10-20 second timeframe. Next time, we'll find higher seats and with a fully viewable video-board. The number of and type of vendors was impressive close to our seats as well as access to the restrooms within the Nissan Stadium stands where it was air-conditioned. Being the first year for the Music City Grand Prix was quite impressive for as many things they accomplished well. Crowds moved through metal detectors and security quickly and smoothly, number of staff addressing fan questions was plentiful, medical personnel was highly visible and on-site on this scorcher of a day, food and drink vendors addressed the lines promptly and FREE, fresh, cold water areas were easy to locate. All-in-all, we had a good time with the exception of the jumbo video board and it being so incredibly hot. They had a large viewing area in the shade close to our seats. We just moved down under the shade trees and watched the remainder of the race. We'd happily attend the Big Music Grand Prix again, but with the aforementioned rookie mistakes corrected. Even another trip to explore downtown more is being discussed.

This is a drag strip of course as you see by my photos I took. Story: I got here early around 4pm on a Saturday. I paid $10 for admission to enter the race track from a nice little lady at the gate. They don't have much room to watch the race from the tailgate of your truck which I like. So I walked to the grandstands to watch the race. By the way, the grandstands are not covered with a roof. So, where a hat and some sunglasses. I did wish that I brought some ear plugs though. It is pretty loud here as most cars don't have much of a muffled engine. On scene: They do have facilities with bathrooms along with sinks and running water where you can wash your hands. The only concession stand that was open was the one under the call tower ( see photo). The concession stand was not open around the grandstands where I chose to sit. You can see all of the race track from the grandstands if you sit up kind a high like I did. Parking is good as I could park just about anywhere I wanted. They do have a scoreboard at the end of the track. I could here the announcer somewhat if I wanted to. Furthermore, it's pretty easy to get in and out of the track once you get here. Most of all, there was no one around me smoking. But, that could be because there was not many people in the grandstands. Now, there was a lot of people here but they were all race car drivers, pit crew members or race track officials.

All types of styles come out and it's so much fun!!! 2. Horse racing is exciting! Whether you're a pro gambler or if you're a first timer, this is great place to try your luck. I like that there are races throughout the day. 3. You're with friends! It's so fun to plan your Saturday with your friends. From the food to drinks and games, it's a fun filled day with lots of friends. If you're in town for Steeplechase, you don't want to miss it.

When we got there, we were told we had to walk over 2 miles to Gate 7 for our wrist bands. We were force to order an Uber for $35 to take us to Gate 7. When we did get our wrist bands, we were rudely told by the managing event staff at Will Call that there is supposed to be a Will Call stand at Gate 2. We asked for a refund, and the nasty event staff lady tried guilting us by saying we were stealing money away from a children's hospital asking for a refund. And she STILL couldn't give us a refund This whole event is so mismanaged (which I heard was a huge issue last year) that no one has any idea what the hell is going on. But, god forbid you want to set things right, staff will paint you as heartless children's hospital donations thieves. We will be calling after SteepleChase for a refund, and possibly be taking legal action. I will NEVER recommend this event to anyone, and people would be much better off watching a horse race on TV at a crummy bar. Because at least the bar will have their stuff together better.

You go through a 45 minute training class before they turn you loose on the track. If you have never driven on a NASCAR style track, I highly recommend paying the extra money to ride with a pro for three laps before you do yours. It was an extra $99 when we went. I'm sure the prices differ by season and specials. I also highly recommend you get the insurance for $69. If you wreck the car and it's deemed your fault you will only be responsible for $1000 vs. up to $15,000. They allow your group to take photos on their phone in the pit area but offer professional photos (For An Extra Fee Of Course) before you get into the race car. They also offer a video of your driving experience. They messed my video up so I didn't get one. The things I really enjoyed was the freedom of driving a powerful car by myself. I would try to go during cooler weather if possible. It gets very hot wearing the fire proof suit over your clothes and inside a tin can with a very hot motor. The people doing the driving, training, and your radio crew were very pleasant and knew what they were doing. They make sure you understand all the rules of the track and genuinely care for your safety. You have a radio in your ear to get instructions while you drive. You cannot talk back to them but they will guide you as you make the laps. The car's are fairly nice but you can tell they have been retired from true racing. You can upgrade several times to nicer cars with better steering and more hp (For Additional Fees) It can get very expensive here! It's also not worth going through all this just to drive three laps. If you're not going to purchase at least six to ten laps. I highly recommend just riding with a pro for three laps. That is a ton of fun. You don't start to feel comfortable driving until around three laps. The things not so enjoyable were the nasty damp helmets and flame retardant suits. You definitely want to be one of the first groups out if possible. I would think for what this cost they could afford some Lysol to spray in the helmets. They all smell like a high school locker room. I also think if you purchase the larger driving packages they should throw in a few of the smaller perks. When I say everything costs extra I mean it! They even sell bottled water and Gatorade from a cooler. If you have a lot of extra money to burn and love speed, it's a great experience. I recommend having them check your driving video before you leave.

Everyone that worked with us there were really awesome. Talking with us as we stood in line. Helping us in all aspects of the drive and being patient as it was our 1st time there. The Nashville track was a great 1st track to do this I think. The layout is not too difficult. We chose to do the side by side ride along which was really cool to "race" another car on the track. We are looking to head back out and do the driving experience on our next visit! If you love NASCAR at all, this is a definite add to your bucket list.

There is no place to find change in start time, list of races or other logistics. (online or Facebook). The quality of the food at the snack bar also has deteriorated. I also noticed a drastic reduction of people attending the races. I have been coming to Rim for 10 years and always had a good time. Last night's line up was tremendously, boring. Something is not right. Management maybe? Rim has lost its luster.

It was just the kind of atmosphere you'd expect from a street fair or carnival. VENUE. The venue itself was a block party centralized at 5th and Jefferson. There were several food trucks, and two large tents to procure beer from. The local establishments were also hopping, as you can imagine. Seating seemed sparse to the naked eye, but so many people wanted to stand or walk around that there didn't seem to be any issues with people finding a place to sit and enjoy the day. We had about 10 in our group and had no issues. QUALITY. I didn't indulge in the food truck offerings, so I can only comment on the beer. I stuck to two beers: Oktoberfest and Festbier, both of which were very good. Definitely was not disappointed. SERVICE. My only complaint was the lines, which were ridiculous. Beer was only sold at two tents, each of which subjected you to a line with a 30-minute (or greater) wait. By late afternoon, lines were closer to an hour. This was a drastic oversight by the venue's organizers, as they definitely left a lot of money on the table from people who would've otherwise spent much more. Our fix was to buy several beers each time we made it to the front of the line to minimize the frequency of tent trips. Still, this was not ideal, and I was very disappointed the lines were not better-managed. PRICE. While there was no entry fee, it was not cheap. Beers were $12 + tip. Still, this was a street festival, so lofty prices are to be expected. I would have been much happier to pay the price for beer if the lines had been more manageable. TAKEAWAYS. I have been going here for five years now. It's a tradition among friends. We even have friends…read morethat fly in every year from out of town to do this. We are those people that dress up, show up early, leave late, and have a great time. We dance polka, we sing drinking songs, we drink our beer from steins, and we have a great time from start to finish. Though this is technically the Germantown Street Festival, we just call it Oktoberfest. It starts with a 5K and ends with a huge street festival that closes off all the roads in Germantown (be aware of that for parking, though local businesses will usually allow you to park for around $10). There are tons of local vendors selling their crafts as well as booths selling brats (there's a great one that sells an Oktoberfest meal - a brat with sauerkraut, baked beans and potato salad for $10). Bring cash! Its faster and easier and everyone takes it. Also, there are more places to get beer aside from the one directly at the entrance. Remember that. There are polka bands playing all afternoon and its fun to dance around. There are plenty of things for kids to do (if you want to bring your kids to a festival celebrating German-style drinking...well I guess) like playgrounds and face painting. There's plenty to do...and they have a pooch parade, so bring your pups if they're good with crowds and other dogs. As far as the crowds, coming earlier or later (on either side of lunchtime) is a safer bet, though really it depends on the weather and who's playing football that day as far as how packed it gets. Those are the specifics...for me its about sitting in the Beer Garden tent, drinking stein after stein with friends, possibly enjoying a pretzel, and definitely dancing. I look forward to this every year, with friends coming from all corners to enjoy (typically) great fall weather and Oktoberfest brews. If you don't like drinking, fun, good food, and celebrating one of Nashville's coolest communities, don't crowd up the streets on this annual celebratory day.
