Dr. Harte is a chiropractor like no other. My family and I had seen 3 other chiropractors before meeting him, and they proved inadequate -- not listening to our concerns, not being thorough in their examinations, dismissing us, etc. Finding him, for me, was a miracle and a blessing. I received a magazine at home, threw it in the trash, seconds later I picked it out of the trash, read it, and saw his advertisement. His message was positive and aligned with what I wanted. I gave him a call right away and set-up an appointment. During the appointment, he treated me well, and I felt as if I had known him for years. I considered myself 'healthy' yet saw Dr. Harte for prophylactic reasons. Dr. Harte did a full examination including balance and flexibility tests as well as X-rays and what he showed me was eye-opening. Yes, I am 'healthy,' but that is a relative term. Although I am not (yet) showing symptoms of an 'unhealthy' person, Dr. Harte showed me conditions that eventually would deteriorate to the point they would negatively impact my ability to enjoy life so I became a member of his practice. One thing I discovered quickly is his practice is different in a good way. Dr. Harte is willing to take time to explain things in detail, he doesn't promise miracle cures, and he encourages his clients to talk with one another ... and what I learned from the other clients was eye-opening. The adjustments Dr. Harte makes to one's body don't only address joint pain, they alleviated one client's migraines, another person's severe allergies, and a third person's depression. About COVID, it is true Dr. Harte is not vaccinated and doesn't wear a mask, however, so are the vast majority of humans on this planet and yet you don't read about bodies piling up in the streets of Africa, Pakistan, Bangladesh, South America, or Indonesia. Meanwhile, Dr. Fauci has admitted the types of masks most people wear reduce the probability of contracting COVID only by 1% to 2%. More to the point, if Dr. Harte were to become sick with any form of communicable disease, he would cancel his appointments and stay home just as any considerate person would do if he or she became sick. Looking at the one-star reviews other people have left on Yelp, I am amazed that people have rated him at all given they never become a client and seen if he could help them ... and I have found the comments about Dr. Harte being unprofessional, grouchy, etc. to be completely untrue. Very poor customer service. Let me start out by saying that I never even made it past my initial phone call. For that reason I will leave two stars rather than one. Maybe he's really good at what he does but full disclosure, I will never know. I saw an add for this place today in one of those publications you get in the mail titled "Savings Magazine". The add was for a package of services that normally cost $975 but if you contact him immediately it would be discounted to $270. My mom has been having some of the issues mentioned in the add so I decided to call. I mentioned seeing the add and was wondering how much the adjustments were after the initial consultation. The response I got was that if I was looking for the lowest price I was asking the wrong questions and that he would have to call me back later. What I think is hilarious is, why would someone advertise in a discount magazine if he didn't want people calling about the pricing. What an absurd reaction. When you are contemplating going through a transaction with someone isn't it smart to ask what the price is? That's pretty standard practice for anyone that has control of their financial self. When I bought my car I asked how much it was going to cost and the last time I got my carpets cleaned at home I asked how much that would be. Just because my bank account isn't hurting doesn't mean I'm ok getting price gouged. This man judged me based on that one question and came to the conclusion he didn't need me as a client. After reading some of the other reviews I can understand why I got the reaction I did. I've written a lot of Yelp reviews and I love when business owners respond, but this guy goes in to attack mode if anyone says anything he doesn't like. I am very grateful to have found Dr. Harte and highly recommend his practice for any ailment. I scheduled an initial appointment with Dr. Harte to address severe neck tension from old injuries as well looking for increased general overall wellness. Dr. Harte performed a health assessment via a multitude of tests, nervous system, heart, balance and x-rays etcetera and he performed an adjustment after reviewing the results. After the first adjustment, I experienced great relief from the neck tension and a hip misalignment that other doctors were unable to "treat" and a reduction in tinnitus and restless legs. Dr. Harte provided a recommended schedule of adjustments in order to restore health which I accepted. I'm five weeks in and have stronger vitality and immunity, better balance, digestion and sleep. My hip feels normal and I can regularly go on strenuous hikes without any recourse, my neck is comfortable and has much more mobility. Dr Harte provides education on chiropractic care and why it works when Vertebral Subluxation Complex (VSC) is addressed, which he does in his practice. I went to a prominent sports chiropractor off an on for over 20 years and relief was always temporary and didn't address the other issues I mentioned above. I pity the nasty reviewers who have nothing better to do than tear down a doctor and his practice that they know nothing about and that is doing so much good for so many, you nasty people are in my prayers, I hope you can find happiness instead of bitterness. I'm astonished that a Medical Professional, would dare call a former patient a liar. Especially when he appears to have so many negative reviews, which are very similar. If you're reading this article my advice to you is to ask a chiropractor that has more positive reviews about what they feel about "the Harte method". They most likely will tell you that he is strange or politely imply he's a character. Two days four hours total $170 for a three minute adjustment that was so ineffective and weak, it had zero affect. I think lying in bed would give you a better chance at healing or adjusting your back then the his method. Mr. Harte, you are not worthy of being referred to as a doctor as you are not a Doctor. I am one month shy of being 67 yrs old and have been to numerous chiropractors in the last 40 yrs living with lower back pain after a severe water skiing incident trying to barefoot ski. Learning to live with the pain was a choice I made after MRI's and prescribed anti-inflammatories and muscle relaxers didn't end the pain rather masked it and I didn't want to keep taking the amount needed to relieve daily pain. Fast forward 35 yrs responding to a mailed flyer advertising Dr Harte's response to normal chiropractic services and the best review/proof I can share is on July 4th this year I drove a Ford F-250 from Sausalito to San Pedro and immediately returned back after a short 20 min stop for a total 848 miles in 14.5 hrs alone with no pain. That simply could not have happened before, this after 4 X for 3 weeks and 3 X for 1 week treatments. Am I completely healed no, will I continue absolutely. I must also tell you there is no pain during treatments, wondering sometimes how can this be working. As the saying goes, the proof is in the pudding 14.5 hrs of driving pain free! Why not 5 stars, I'm reserving the last star for the end of the first round of treatment, the jury isn't in just yet but it's leaning pretty heavily towards what are you waiting for. PLEASE. Be extremely leary about this operation. If you don't sign up for the long term contract Mr Harte gets very nasty and dismissive. Still waiting to get an itemized bill for my initial visit costing $170. He refused to give it to me after asking 5 times. Now I can't get reimbursed from my flex account. Be very, very careful and ask questions upfront. I actually complained to the Chiropractic board with no success. Ok. Here we go. I have been a professional chef for 40 plus years. I'm not a crackpot. I am not dishonest. These are not lies and can prove it. Mr. Harte suggested during my first visit that he wanted a signed contract from me to a $6000. I did pay him $170 for this visit, asked for a receipt, to be reimbursed from my flex account and he said we can take care of that on my next visit. I told him I would need to discuss this expenditure  with my wife before doing so and he said bring her wth you on my first adjustment. On my first adjustment I did not bring my wife with me and he did what he did in the "adjustatorium". We talked about the $6000 and I told him not at this time. That's when he got nasty. Refused to give me a receipt for the $170 I paid him for the initial visit, wanted another payment for the adjustment on my second visit. I told him give me receipt for monies paid to you on the initial visit ($170) and I will pay the $79 for the adjustment and he still  refused to provide a receipt. I never made a false complaint to the Chiropractic Board of Examiners.  I told them, the Board, what you all read here. All I wanted from this was a receipt of $170 payment to get reimbursed and would have gladly paid the fee for my second visit. BTW. When you come to his office appointment; YOU grab your file from his filing cabinet; he logs you in and you put YOUR file back in his cabinet. You also have to change the tissue you use for your face on the adjustment table with detailed instruction from him how to do it. Really? Hire an office assistant.  The upside..I found a wonderful chiropractor in Sausalito for 1/3 the expense and I  am now pain free. Do yourselves a favor and read any other reviews on yelp or elsewhere. This man can NOT refute what I have written here. All I EVER wanted was a bill showing I paid him $170. read more

I don't want to be a wet blanket here, but just contribute a different perspective. (I wonder if this review will show up though...? they all seem to be 5 star. hmmm...) I understand that many people have been assisted in their healing process by Dr. Harte, and I don't really doubt his skill, but his way of operating was simply not for me. The word "zealot" definitely applies to the guy, whether or not this is something you like or dislike. He's peddling a particular old-school philosophy of chiropractic (some would even call it a cult) and he has a very rigid "my way or the highway" attitude, sharing openly his disdain for other professionals in the field. Which is, again, all fine for some people. For me it was a red flag. The actual treatment was what finally turned me off. Not only did I get myself locked into an expensive plan with hefty cancellation fees (I know I am responsible for agreeing to it, but I was in pain and under duress!), but the actual sessions---which came to about $90 each---involved about 3 minutes of direct care, in a room of several tables with other patients (the "adjustitorium", which I had initially found charming, but it was empty at the time), AND I had to do some office tasks like replace the paper on the table and process my own paperwork. Amazing. He's either too frugal or too controlling to hire administrative staff. I suppose his business model works fine logistically---but to me it felt like a rip-off. Now I've found an excellent chiropractor in Marin who spends half an hour with me, takes care of all the normal office stuff, and only charges $60! That's more like it. And he works very effectively without taking x-rays, so Dr. Harte would likely say disparaging things about him. Yet, he's excellent, and my body has never felt better. I do not want to dissuade anyone from getting the care they want and need from Dr. Harte. There are many roads to Wellville. I just wanted to share my inside experience after (regrettably) signing his contract so that someone else does not wind up with the same unsavory experience unnecessarily. I hope that this is helpful. I am being completely honest in the spirit of Yelp community sharing, and not intending to be derisive. Just remember this: any time you see a new chiropractor, and the word "subluxation" comes into play, let that be a red flag for you to pay close attention. I've been seeing Dr. Harte for 9 months and continue to be off all medications and infusions to treat advanced rheumatoid arthritis. During this time I have continued to see my RA specialist and get my regular blood panels. My RA specialist has been amazed at my physical reaction and the nothing shy of miraculous turnaround since being adjusted on a regular basis by Dr. Harte. I NEVER get flu vaccines, following a very nasty shingles reaction to the pneumonia vax in 2011, and I NEVER get the flu. I was at a complete loss for what to about my pain--from headaches, ribs, neck, back, knee, and even foot pain. Often times, this led to nausea, and lately, depression. If it was up to a medical doctor, I'd have had surgery, and most likely have been put on pain medication with a large dose of anti-depressants. I have been told by medical doctors that the pain is psycho-somatic. When I initially called Dr. Harte, I was looking for more of a drop-in type visit, just to get some pain relief. During my initial phone call to Dr. Harte, I could already tell I was in good hands. At the end of the call, he said, 'get ready to start feeling good!" Well, I already did, and I certainly didn't expect a phone call to do that. Then came my first visit, where he conducted a complete patient history, x-rays, and chiropractic plan. I was amazed at how thorough he is, and how much I learned as well. He is truly gifted, and dedicated to getting you to feel better. It's not about a diagnosis, and in fact, I don't think there was one. As he explained, everyone's body is different, but what is important is that each person's body has the innate ability to heal itself. What Dr. Harte is able to do, is to clear up the blockages, and restrictions which are preventing your body from this healing process. With each successive visit, my body has improved, and is feeling better. To my amazement, my depression is going away, and I also have more energy. The adjustments don't hurt, and are so subtle that I can only think he has a gift, which he uses in his healing process. I see absolutely no reason you should NOT go to Dr. Harte. Whenever I am feeling sick or I need alot of physical energy, I head straight for his office. When I get in, Dr. Harte is always there and greets with a smile and the occasional great joke. Also, if you are Weekly World News fan, you should stop by and read it because although it is out of business, he still keeps old issues here. After visiting the waiting room, you will lie down on one his three Chiropractic tables. He has a great system of adjusting your back and then moving onto the next person so your back can adjust to the changes he made. After he says, "Power's on," my adjustment is over and I always feel so much better. Some people think Chiropractors are quacks. This one definitely is not. He does have a funny bulletin of ads with bad Chiropractors though who have adjusting machines. One ad even has Charlie's Angels in it. How exactly does that movie improve your health? I have no idea. He does his work manually which definitely works instead of using a robot of Farrah to help. I actually have seen great results from him because after adjustments, I feel physically stronger and my brain is always sharper. His son has been adjusted since he was a baby and now he is a major scientist. While visiting Dr. Harte, I also learned that being a Chiropractor is more than just fixing your back. The nerves in the spinal cord connect to other parts of the body and if the spinal cord is misaligned, then the nerves have trouble connecting to those parts of the body so they do not work as well or develop serious problems. With stronger nerve connections, those parts of the body start functioning. Of course it helps the immune system too. I go whenever I am sick and I always get better faster than I used to. Overall, I think Dr. Harte is superb because of his helping the body, the spirit, the immune system and of course his great personality. Best chiropractor I've been to. I've had 3 in the past year all 3 we're different and did a good job. First I had a gonstead chiro and then a traditional. I will tell you after moving locations for work I wasn't able to see a chiropractor for 3 weeks. In that time my back got to the point I could not sleep well or tie my shoes in the morning. Dr. Harte spent over an hour on my adjustment and I walked out feeling like I was walking on air. He is by far the BEST chiropractor and I now drive 3 hours round-trip to see him once a week. He is direct, passionate and a former New Yorker. If you want a cheap adjustment and no results he's not your guy. If you value your health enough to spend the money for someone who has legitimately MASTERED their craft this is the guy for you. read more

I originally started taking my 72yr old mother to get adjusted back in 2014. She had severe lower back pain which prevented her from walking or standing for long periods. He is not a chiropractic manipulator,mostly holistic new age. I had a bad hip and walking was a problem, But in ten visits i got no relief at all . And i paid $1600 for his "care". Originally he scheduled me for 99 visits at a discounted $10,000,a savings of $4000 from his original quote of $14000. In my condition i don't think Arnold Schwartzenegger could have survived this. But his subluxation method takes time for the body to heal itself. You see, the body inately knows how . His original diagnosis sheet was illegible unless you could read farsi and egyptian hieyrogliphics.I requested a more legible copy which he never provided. He seems to hate physicians and my theory is that he flunked out of med school and is eternally jealous of md's. If you're not a subluxing chiropractor you're not worth your salt. He walks around his office genuflecting to a picture of Palmer, a founding father of his method. I have requested my treatment records from him, but that will probably be a battle to obtain them. Dr. Harte is all about healthy as we can be and self-care. That's real chiropractic which allows our bodies to heal themselves from inside to outside and top down by freeing the nervous system and circulatory system from pressures due to misaligned vertebrae (i.e. subluxation). He is caring, kind, funny, and yes, outspoken (that's his prerogative, plus he's a New Yorker). I feel safe in his office and never hear complaints, in fact, the opposite. I was a patient of Dr. Harte for 4 months as he treated me for lower back pain. At that time, I was told by back specialists that my options were spinal injections and back surgery at a later date. Instead, I decided to give chiropractic a try. When I first started treatment, I couldn't get off the treatment table without help. I am now back to my regular routine. Was Dr. Harte 100% responsible for my recovery? Probably not. I do know his treatments allowed my body to begin to heal itself which is the basis of chiropractic treatment. I also took responsibility and began a regimen of stretching and core strengthening exercises.
