This was such an amazing haunted house! Regular tickets are $31 credit, or $28 cash. It seemed expensive to me but it was 100% worth it. We waited for maybe half an hour, but you can skip the line for an extra $10. The set and props are so detailed and the actors are amazing. You walk through on a designated path and there are different themed parts. They definitely make you jump and scream! It took us almost an hour to walk through the whole thing. I saw an ad on Instagram (I know, beware) and we decided to go sort of last minute. Instagram ead of driving up North for some spooky fun I figured try something new and a little more local. And I am so glad we did! Can't believe we have been missing out all these years (I believe this is their 15th year) We had VIP entry for 7pm and at 1st I thought I could have saved some money and gone general entry but ended up the extra cost was well worth the money. The general entry line wasn't super long at 1st but for sure it started getting packed. We were 1st in line and eager to check everything out and get some good scares. The trial is a bit uneven but is well lit and actually not too bad to walk. The scareators were amazing, the props as well and the staff superb! The scares are enhanced knowing you are literally walking through the buildings and area of the old amusement park. We were in the first group to enter and what I liked not is we were spaced out. Even though there were roughly 8 of us we all got a chance to get scared. There was no overcrowding or trying to fit too many people through at once. It was perfect. Parking is free and easy in and out (dirt lot but we'll maintained). Depending on the time and date you go might help factor in which ticket option you want. There are three options, general line, fast pass, and VIP. Each allow you to stand in or bypass the line. Later in the season I would for sure go with fast pass at least. I love this haunt! It's located at a real old amusement park with many of the old rides serving as set pieces. It's an outdoor walkthrough that took us about 30 minutes. Good use of animatronics where there weren't any actors and great actors with full makeup and matching props. And the actors actually acted, not just screaming in your face. They will interact with you if you talk to them and will do their best to creep you out. The amusement park theme and props are great but the rest of the set dressing is pretty standard. The ground is uneven so watch your step but they warn you in advance. There's some good photo ops props and snacks for sale at the end but no seating. They have expanded their parking this year so you don't have to park on the street. Get there early because it does pretty busy. It's right off the 8 and there's no much around it. The Haunted Amusement park was great time. Please read the website before going. The road leading to the park gets backed up quickly. Especially on the weekends. Even though the parking lot sign said full . They allow a car in as a car exists. We only had to wait a couple of minutes. Once in the line to get in takes forever. We noticed a small sign at the concession stand stating you could upgrade to a fast pass. We paid the extra $12. Totally worth it. It saved us 2 hours of not waiting in line. (We went on a Saturday night) so it was really crowded. The actors make up was a lot better than most haunted attractions I've been to. There's plenty of jump moments through out the walk. It took us a little over 30 minutes to get through the whole attraction. I felt like it's pretty much good for the whole family. I didn't find the gore factor that extreme that it would scare younger kids. Maybe mine are just desensitized to such things. Definitely worth the money read more

This was WAY better than expected. It was also better than universal studios scare nights and that's saying a lot. I really liked how long it was- I didn't expect it to be so ongoing but it was and in a good way. The only criticism I have is the parking situation. It was messy but best part it was free! Some ppl parked on the street for easier access to leave, I imagine but it was great overall. Worth the price! And I went on a night where they had zombies perform Thriller dance and that was fun to watch while waiting in line. A couple of the actors got a little too much in ppl's faces and that was annoying because they lingered longer than appropriate. This place also had some food options which was unexpected but nice if on a date and need a bite to eat. Items included nachos, hot dog, pretzels and lil fried donuts. Drinks too but sodas. They were only port a potties to use outside but overall, 5 stars! read more

This was by far the best "haunted house" we have been to so far. The old Marshall Scotty's Playland that you can see off the 8 freeway is now a haunted attraction! The natural setting of an old, abandoned amusement park in the middle of nowhere gives the place a natural haunted feeling. Winding through a mile and a half trail in some wide open spaces and some tight spaces, indoors and outdoors gives the ghouls plenty of opportunities for good old jump scares. Parking is in a dirt lot. Attendants help you find a spot. Free parking. The parking entrance is not well lit. The entrance line was long. We waited over an hour just to get in. It was really nice though that groups are spaced so far apart to leave plenty of opportunities for surprises. The trails are paved and unpaved. It could be tough to get through here in a wheelchair or if you have foot/knee problems. Beware of uneven, rocky paths and entrance line. read more

Wow! This haunted trail was sooo well done! It takes about 30 minutes to complete- that was including running & slow walking at times. The special effects, the placement of the scars creatures, the visuals- all so well done! They really put a lot of effort into this and it shows! We really had so many moments of screaming and having fun! It's a trail that focuses on scaring you by jumping out of unexpected corners and turns! So fun! I recommend 100% if this is your thing! We went on a Friday night and it wasn't packed either- so we walked through the maze with just our group. It's also great if you want a more intimate scare experience! Our group went last night and truly had a blast! I'm not exactly sure if it was because it was opening weekend or because we went late-ish (around 8pm), but we walked right in - no wait. It was four of us and we were the only ones walking through the maze. It's a continuous path that took us about 30minutes or so to get through. There was little to no ambient sound/music so it made for an extra eerie experience! And the actors did a fantastic job! Great integration with the old amusement park! Be aware that it's all dirt path so you might want to avoid wearing white shoes. read more

The sets and props were incredibly well done, the actors were amazing, and the length of the trail was perfect. Not too long to get fatigued but not too short to feel unsatisfied. And all for $30? I went to the Haunted Amusement Park for the first time last Friday night and absolutely loved it! I am a huge fan of creepy old abandoned places...somehow I find them both creepy and beautiful at the same time. This haunted attraction takes place at the old Marshall Scotty's Amusement Park. Some of my long time East County friends used to take their kids there. Even during non-Halloween times, the park has a sad, but intriguing and beautiful old abandoned look about it. My friend and I arrived about 7 PM, right when the ticket line opens. There is a small lot, that likely gets crowded, but I parked without a problem. Some people were parking along the side of the road. The ticket line only took about 10 minutes. Once we got inside the gate, the line took about 30 minutes more. It really wasn't bad, as I had time to chat and catch up with my friend. Tickets are $20 cash only. You can pay extra and skip most of the line, but we chose to wait. There are some spooks hanging around for photo ops and entertainment while you wait. Those are the only pictures I had, as photos are not allowed inside. I really liked that they allow people to spread out during the walk, so that we all have a chance to get equally scared. My favorite part was the bumper car ride, as we wear 3-D glasses and it everything is neon. I felt like I was drunk and there were actors jumping out everywhere! There were lots of actors... several creepy kid clowns too. I think he best thing about this haunt is that the amusement park rides and buildings are real and original instead of constructed. It's about a 35 minute drive from the San Diego coast. I hope they keep it up! read more

I love abandoned places and taking cool photos. It's private property so please be careful and respectful if you're looking for some adventure. This place was up and running in the 1960's, and in its heyday during the 70's and 80's; the best around for the area in those days; The Marshal Scotty's Amusement Park, El Cajon, California. But, now as an abandoned amusement park it's great for a Halloween scare as the haunted park comes alive and has fantastic haunted trails. Make sure you visit at least once! read more

Went last night with friends and had a phenomenal time! We arrived before it opened and got in line without purchasing the fast pass ticket and actually enjoyed our time in line. This year I attended Balboa Haunted Trail, Sea World Howl-o-scream and now the haunted amusement park. I didn't know what to expect but found this Diamond in the rough exceeding expectations. It's very dark and the old creepy rides adds to the scare affect. Highly recommend this as part of your Halloween fun! read more

I had to take my son to the bathroom after waiting in line for an hour. Hispanic security guard tried to pull us out of line saying that we were line cutting. I explained the situation to him as you cannot access the restrooms until you are in line. He said he should make us go to the end of the line, we refused and asked for his name but he would not provide it to us. In the end we remained in line and all was fine but he should not have acted this way when there are no other options, he needs better training and people skills for his job. read more

This place needs to work on its traffic control. The amount of cars blocking the road in both directions is ridiculous. On top of that, there are children trying to cross the street in pitch black. As someone who lives in the neighborhood, it is ridiculous year after year with how they have still not been able to figure out how to adequately manage traffic. read more
