Longhorn Feed closes at 5:30 on the weekdays. I pulled up dead center with the double front doors which were wide open just a couple minutes before 5:30. Two employees were standing there and saw me as I started out of my truck. My cell phone rang and I reached back in my truck and took the call which lasted all of maybe three minutes. Right at 5:30, with me standing next to my truck and not more than 10 or 15 feet from the door, the one guy, a chubby guy with red hair, closed and locked the door with me standing right next to my truck and obviously about to walk in. A minute later he and another employee unlocked the door and walked out and relocked the door. I asked the chubby guy with red hair if he didn't see me standing there ready to walk in...he never even looked up; he just said, "we close at 5:30! I again said, but you saw me right here when you closed the door...again, nothing but, "we close at 5:30". I then said, this is a small community, you can't stay in business if you treat locals like this...again, nothing but "we close at 5:30". I then said, "well we're only three weeks from having Tractor Supply open right down the road not to mention that we have The Hay Company right down the road also. I have a felling that you won't stay in business if you continue to treat locals like this"...his response was...yea...well we'll see, we close at 5:30". This kind of treatment coupled with the fact that they're often out of different types of grain and that literally nothing in the store is price marked has helped me to make the decision to never do business at this feed store again. The horse community is a pretty close nit group and once there's "bad talk...people walk"...trust me. I will talk!!!

I was recently on the Facebook page for this company researching for possible purchase. They have 2…read morerecent videos that were disturbing from a customers perspective. One shows a young employee on the phone with a customer and they are irritated with said customer, the other is talking about how they can not fire the same young employee because they are family to the owners. The nepotism and distain for the customers really shines through in this aspect and I would hate to work for these people and would not shop there. You should really think before advertising your company in this way.

I went up front to pay for it, and 1 cashier told me the other line was faster( she was doing a credit card application) . I went to self check out and discovered i cant buy the chain there. I stood in line for another 5 minutes, and the cashier and another employee couldnt figure out how to charge me for 2 feet of chain, I took a picture of their part number and showed it to them. Recent visit we saw they had some chicks in stock and was told from now until September. They also have supplies you need to care for the chicks. I enjoy looking at their plant selections. I hired and fired this company in the same week. Unfortunately for the owners of this business…read moretheir salesperson introduced himself as "a good Christian man." That was a turn off. Show me, don't tell me you are a decent human being. After the job was 25% finished, he called on a friday to tell me that the job was going to cost at least double and maybe more than he had quoted me. We stopped right there. I had the other 75% of the job completed for less than I was billed by this company to do the first quarter of the job. I offered to pay the labor contractor for the work they had completed but the saleperson refused and said they would bill me later. I said I was uncomfortable with him leaving their supplies on my property especially when I did not order them and I did not want to be responsible for a large box of what he says was thousands of dollars worth of materials. He said he would come pick it up and he finally did - a week later with no notice at all. The day before this project began, the salesman sent me to buy a refurbished part for my irrigation pump that was $170. I knew just by looking at it that it was not a necessary or even an appropriate part for the pump. Instead I bought a $16 valve the next day and it works great. Where this guy came from, I do not know but lesson learned, do not do business with people who say things like, "I don't think you understand ma'am" so I am going to try to take complete advantage of you by pretending to be a "self proclaimed good Christian."
