This place was great once upon a time. However family drama caused it to just be Terrell doing all the massages and no one else works there. (She told me this during the massage.) She does, as others have said, talk throughout the massage. Aside from that the quality of the massage was good. However, her husband has some evident mental health issues. She allows him to use her customer list to send multiple emails every day/week with political messages. Regardless of your political leanings- the way these are written are obviously a sign of someone with a mental health issue. I've tried to unsubscribe with no luck. Worst experience at a spa I have ever had. First, she bragged about how good she was, and nobody does a deep tissue massage like she does. She pushed on my neck and asked if it was okay. I said it was. Apparently, according to her, this was me confirming that she could do a deep tissue massage, not the regular one my husband had booked for me. Yes, she charged me the extra $, which I didn't know about until after I had left her cash in the room as a tip. I thought I was confirming the comfort level of what she was doing. Worst though is that this woman doesn't shut up. Spent the entire time talking about herself, how much money can be made as a masseuse, how she put her daughters through school, one as a masseuse, and how she has trained others who went on to work at franchise places, but they just aren't as good as her. I had several services with owner Terrell Lynn and it was a magnificent experience. Terrell Lynn was extremely knowledgeable and explained in great detail what could be causing pain in certain areas and she was genuinely concerned about helping relieve that pain. The atmosphere was relaxing and homey. I was surprised how much I got for the reasonable amount I paid. Had I gone to a large spa or resort I can guarantee I would have paid two or three times more. No response from Russel...not sure whether to show up for my appointment or not. Finally he responded with a canned response that had nothing to do with my appointment. Shocked to see a low Yelp rating for Healing Arts Day Spa. Facility is nice (albeit small and in an office complex) and staff was polite and a good massage to boot. And the price is hard to beat. $39 for 60 minutes? (and seems like there's a handful of promotional deals out there on the Internet if you Google around) Their online reservation system was terrific -- easier than booking a flight --- and appointment started on-time and lasted the full hour. Being from California, the Bay Area, I have a lot of access to a variety of spas and massage places. In fact I had my first ever massage a year ago and want to again. With that said, this is a review for an Arizona establishment! My fiance was to attend a Russian Sambo coaching summit and he wanted me to come with him for the 5 day stint. Reluctant, because I would need to ditch work, fly out here (I hate flying), and entertain myself while he was training....why would I stay in Chandler, AZ? Sorry, but it looks just like suburbia Modesto in CA. Well, October is my birthday month and he wanted to send me to a day spa for a few hours as a gift to me! Sweet! I've never even has a facial before so I was excited. After I agreed to go, he said he found a place in CHANDLER, the same city we were staying (keep in mind location is important to my story). So I checked their website and it looked like they had two locations listed, Chandler and Mesa. Perfect! The Chandler location is a 30 min walk from our hotel. I can handle that, I have time to burn. So we arrive in AZ on a Thursday and my fiance calls the spa to set me up for the 3 hr pamper me package. I was to choose between their list of services (three total) and each were to be 60 min each. When he calls he gets a machine so he leaves his info. Not even 5 minutes later he gets a call back from someone to book my appointment. However, the guy that called didn't even ask what services I wanted...wierd because I thought I had choices. Ok, whatever- I've never done this before.. He took my fiances card info and scheduled me for the next day at 12:45p. I will note that my fiance did say, "We're visiting Chandler from California so I want to do something special for her." So, with that said, we assumed I was to attend the Chandler location. Afterall, it's one of two locations listed on their website and I should believe that there are two locations....since it's listed..... So the next day I map my walk on my gps and start from our hotel. It takes me about 37 minutes. I get to a shopping center and see the spa's sign at the front of the parking lot near the street and I start walking around the plaza. No spa. I walk the entire perimeter of the plaza. No spa. I check my walking gps directions. No spa. I still had 10 min till my appt time so I tried calling to ask where in the plaza they are. Is this place two stories? I leave two voicemails. Then I look into a deserted space up for lease and what do you know it looks like it's their spa but desserted! wtf? Needless to say I was pissed. I walked forever out here breaking a sweat in Arizona heat to find out it's not here. I leave a message saying that I'm at their Chandler location and it's clearly deserted and there's no way I can get to Mesa, wherever that is, and that I'd call back later when my fiance was free to figure this out. I then get a call from Russel, one of the owners, and he apologizes for the confusion and said their new guy booked us and should have confirmed locations. He said it was 100% their fault. He then asked what it would take to get me in that day. I said I have no way of getting there since I walked and am from out of town without a car. He said he'd come come pick me up. Really? No way! I was stoked. So I hung out at Rubios eating lunch and drinking some sangria. Russell came by and picked me up. This whole thing had been a little stressful and dissapointing but I had no where to be. We had a nice chat along the way and I learned about his business with his wife and their family. I got there, filled out some paperwork and waited to be brought back to the room. Terrelyn (sp?) asked what my fiance had scheduled for me, which is wierd because I don't think we were asked for my three selections but she mentioned a few things and they sounded good to me so I agreed. She did the first two treatments for me. Had the coconut scrub with hot stones and Jurlique facial. She was amazing! I loved it. We chatted a bit during it all, but I like meeting new people. She gave me a bunch if upgrades during those two treatments which was lovely. Then I had my third treatment, a Swedish massage, from Serena. She was amazing as well and was really sweet and professional. On the form I filled out I said I wanted focus on my neck and shoulders due to computer/office work strain. She did great really focusing on those areas. When it was all over I found out my fiance had only been charged a deposit and so that meant I owed a bunch more. I understand they wouldnt keep his card on file, but I wish we would have known that so I wouldn't have to pay the rest and then get reimbursed later. Another thing that should have been confirmed over the phone. Russel gave me a ride back to where he picked me up. I was so grateful that I didn't mind the 30min walk back. Deep tissue massage for husband and myself was super relaxing. Therapist used essential oils which is a huge plus for me. I appreciate the rooms are clean. Both our therapist have good attitudes and we're very skilled-knots-tension-carpel tunnel all therapeutically massaged away. Nice treat for our Twenty-second anniversary. **DONT BUY THEIR GIFT CARDS** They printed a little piece of paper with a number on it and that was their "gift card/certificate". We made the mistake of not using it right away and they even had all the details of the purchase (when, value, who it was for) and opted not to honor the card. "We're welcome to make a reservation but will pay full price". Shame on us for waiting too long for using it (they're only valid for 6mo). For the price the massage was good so I decided to book another appointment while I was there. They told me about the 24hr cancelation policy which I was fine with. Anyway I ended up having to go out of town on the day of the massage so I called them before the 24hr period and canceled. As other reviewers have stated this place never answers the phone so I left a message. Turns out they ended up charging my card on file for the entire amount of the massage. I could never get a call back from the manager so I had to dispute it through my credit card company, sending in my phone records showing that I called 2 days in advance. I would give this salon 3 stars. I made the mistake of booking my massage on the wrong day. They were accommodating to the change and helped schedule my friend and I at the same time however it all had to be done via text. You can't call this salon which is odd to me. All communication was done via text. We booked an hour massage and a hour facial. The facial was done by the owners daughter. She was great, all natural products. She speaks with a soft tone which is relaxing. I really enjoyed the facial. The massage however was not as relaxing. The owner talks A LOT. I had told her before the massage that I was under a lot of stress at work and looking forward to the relaxation. That is cue for I'm not a talker. She talked about everything. I learned about her menopause, her kids, AZ, CA, her product rep that is just so adorable and how she's now treated with respect, etc etc. OMG. Please stop talking so much. It ruined the experience. I had a strange experience today. My masseuse called to see if I was "close" as I was driving in. I arrived 10 minutes prior to my scheduled appointment. When she came in, she made several comments that implied I was late to my appointment and so she would have to get "as close" to the 60 minutes I scheduled as she could, even though we started right on time. I don't know if someone gave her the wrong time for my appointment or what, but I didn't like being shamed for a mistake I did not make. The massage itself was fine. I did point out on my form that I was there for back pain and didn't get as much focus there as I hoped but that happens. The price, especially with the email discount special, was very good. But I don't know if that warrants a return visit. I want to like this place as it's a small local business. I might give it one more go read more

I got one of the best massages of my life from Ian today! Could not recommend him more to anyone looking to try out getting a massage for the first time. In the past at other places, my massages were very inconsistent. Ian went out of his way to make sure everything he did was to my satisfaction. For $69, you can get a 90-minute deep tissue, which you will not find anywhere else. If you sign up for their emails, they send out coupons every couple of weeks, so today my 90-minute is only $61!!! This is a no frills place, so if you are looking for a fancy spa, this may not be the place for you. I like to read reviews about places, especially when living in a new area. The first massage I ever received was in Texas by some random self-proclaimed spa. I walked out of there feeling like I had just wrestled a 400lb she-woman. I was sore for three days, and have never gone back to get a massage, until this past Saturday (1/24/2015). My birthday was the 20th, and it was a gift from my boyfriend to choose a spa package and have a day of spoils for myself. I called on the 20th, and was immediately sent to a voice machine, where they guarantee they will call you back within a short period, yet I received no call back. I called again the next day after shortly considering going to another spa- but couldn't find a place to beat the cheap prices at The Healing Arts. I signed up for the Pamper Me package- where you can choose three different combinations, so I got a 60 minute hot rock massage, a 60 minute Belavi Facelift facial, and a 60 minute hand and feet feast (reflexology massage). As soon as I walked into the spa, I started to relax! It is dim lit, and smelled like the sweet heavens. I filled out some paperwork, was given water, and then taken into a room that was dim lit as well, with soft music playing. After taking off my clothes, I proceeded to enjoy an hour of amazing massage work by Terrell. She worked hard at extracting the stress from my body with her witch craft. Afterwards, I was treated to a facial in which I fell asleep during. All and all it was a great experience! I'll be going back for sure. read more

Here's the deal people. For the prices charged you can't beat the massages. That's not to say the massages aren't good, they're great as a matter of fact. I've been to many massage spots around the east valley and decided to give this a try since I have been having horrible aches and pains. I am a last minute planner and like immediate satisfaction, therefore, I always want it NOW not later. I called the phone number listed and received a recorded message. The message was clear and mention a website I could book use for same day appointments. I followed the directions and was able to book my appointment. I received an email confirmation and then a phone call from "Russell" he called to confirm my appointment. I showed up 5 minutes before my "check in" time and the door was locked with a sign that indicated they would be back at my actual check in time. So I patiently waited at 9:30 the door opened and the Therapists was walking out her last client. She invited me in and told me to wait a couple minutes, so I did. Within 2 minutes I was called back and began my massage. I can understand why the door would be locked...you're in there alone you do not want someone to be able to come in freely when it seemed she was alone. I know I wanted it locked. As far as my massage therapist (Tamara) she was amazing. I told her what I liked and did not like and she was able to relieve my most annoying knots and kinks. Saw this on groupon, so I decided to give the place a call to see what it's about. The owner picks up the phone and says that he would rather me go directly through him because Groupon takes a cut. I ask him if he has anything available at 1 the next day, his response was "yes, that would work just fine". My girlfriend comes early and he says that he is fully booked because another person booked online. I call to MAKE SURE the time is available, then it's not. I don't go through Groupon so the guy can make a bit more money. She gets turned away and the client who didn't call and buys the Groupon gets the massage. I come from the hospitality industry and I don't consider that proper customer service. He might have the best hands in the world, doesn't matter if you can't actually get the massage you made the appointment for. Poor professionalism. read more
