Very upset with this group. Had an appointment for a stress test today. Appointment was at 10:15. I arrived at 10:20 and was told I was late and they weren't going to be able to take me. She said my appointment was at 10:00. I showed her the appointment card that stated 10:15. She said that for those appointments, you need to arrive 15 minutes early. No where on my card does it state that. She claimed that someone was already in the room since I was late. I find that hard to believe and if that was the case, then they must have been early and taken my appointment which means that I should have been able to take their appointment. I was told I'd have to reschedule. Not a good way to run an office and now I see why the reviews for this group are so low! Receptionists are very young and not very helpful. Do not recommend this group! Not happy!! read more

Very poor quality service, it's downright unbelievable. We scheduled a call for 1:00 and arrived at 12:45. They let us in at 2:45- a full TWO HOURS. Some people. When we complained they said that the appointment was at 2 pm, but I had the card that proved we had a 1pm appointment. Basically the service is okay, but they are so poorly organized that it's not worth it. read more

I showed up for my appointment today after receiving multiple text messages confirming the day and time. The first lady at reception that I checked in with didn't say anything to me after pulling my name up on her screen. She then handed me over to the receptionist next to her who told me there was no technician there to administer my stress test. She told me that "it looked like" someone called me yesterday, which wasn't true, as I checked my phone records and messages. She also said she sympathized with my frustration and that I could wait around for an hour and take the appointment of the next patient if they didn't show up. Seriously? I don't have time to sit around hoping that the next person doesn't show up to their scheduled appointment. This was clearly a mistake on their end that wasted a great deal of time and travel. My mom had a stress test today and because they couldn't confirm the appointment. They made an excuse that they didn't have the proper injections for this test. There's no way. Besides them entering the wrong information and had my number incorrectly and that's why they were not able to confirm. I asked to speak with management and no one was available for me to speak with. That is so unprofessional and poor ethic and a neglect towards my mom's health. read more

I owe my life to Dr. Wakslak. I have had svt episodes since a child but were quickly resolved by the time Doctors were able to detect them. My whole life I was told they were just panic attacks. 2018 I had my first Atrial Fibrillation episode. Very scary. Had an electro cardioversion to correct. Was fine since then. Fast forward 2021 I started experiencing excessive heart palpitations. Not sure if covid or covid vaccine related. Fast forward to 2023. SVT attack in May that lasted 30 minutes. Went to the hospital and they had to convert with 12mg of adenosine. A few months later another episode in August same thing SVT with a heart rate of 220bpm or higher. 12mg of Adenosine administered at ER. Spoke with my primary. She sent in the authorization to see Dr. Wakslak immediately. I met with him around August 23rd 2023. He scheduled the cardiac ablation for 9/13/2023. I was terrified. He was assuring and confident that the ablation would be a successful procedure. After my ablation I experienced some heart palpitations which is normal because your heart is recalibrating its cell structure to communicate again with the rerouting electrical pathways. I experienced this side effect for a couple of months. Fast forward to today February 13th 2025. I have not had any episodes of SVT. Dr. Wakslak is a very knowledgeable cardiac surgeon and I am eternally grateful to have my life back and to be able to continue to be a mother to my child. This clinic has such a terrible way of treating patients. My mother had an appointment scheduled at 4:15 PM. We arrived at 3:55 PM. She was not seen until 5:04 PM when the doctor walked in if she was a doctor, her name is Miss Gonzalez she had such a rushed, accelerated attitude the office staff also lost a form that we turned into them, and because of that we could not complete our appointment. Another cardiologist came in and basically told us if we don't like it, we can have our doctor refer her to another office how rude worst patient etiquette and so very unprofessional to schedule an appointment that you cannot handle see the patient after office hours and not have enough staff around. Basically everybody was gone to help out in this situation. I do not recommend this clinic to anybody. read more

Complaint: I wanted to reach out to discuss a heart breaking experience I recently had with a cardiologist, Munaf Shamji that I was referred to by my primary care doctor. After waiting for what felt like an eternity to be seen, he came in an apologized for the wait. He said he wanted to give me zen time to relax so I would be ready. I was amused. I thought to myself, "this is a funny doctor." I thought he probably likes to be entertaining to patients. I told him I'm an English and History teacher. He said that makes me interesting. He then went on to ask why I am coming to the doctor and I explained that I'm 35, and my mother and sister died at 42 and 41 from a sudden heart attack. I told him this causes me anxiety and I can't tell what the severity of my chest pains are at times or if I should be worried. He made a joke and said that I could always find a new mother or sister with better genes. I believe my response to him was "no," but not as in "no, not find a new mom," but more as in "no, this joke is inappropriate." I considered trying to let this go and go elsewhere but as I sit crying in my car, I realize that I need to say something. Doctors need to have a level of professionalism that Munaf did not have within this moment. I came to the doctor, left my 3 kids at home to be cared for, only because I walk around with serious anxiety, fear, and sadness each day from losing my family members. I miss my mother and my sister so much and the pain I have knowing their fate and that I'm the sole provider for my own kids takes over. It makes me do things like go to the doctor to make sure I'm okay. I want to be around for my family. I know they cannot find another mother. Inappropriate comments and jokes about ones family or history should be off the table. I wanted to let this go, but I feel the need to let Munaf know that he needs to be better. I can take the time to find another cardiologist elsewhere that can provide my care with a higher level of empathy than I felt today. I hope that Munaf Shamji is able to take this experience and bring a higher level of empathy to his next patients. I have no doubt he's a great doctor, but he did not give me a great experience. read more

These people don't care about their patients or their patients needs. They canceled my mother's appointment without notice. I called the office 24 hours before the appointment to confirm and they said the appointment was canceled and the next available appointment is in 2 months. My mother waited a whole month for this appointment and they canceled it just like that. How could a cardiologist office cancel an appointment of a patient with a heart condition just like that and then say the next appointment is in 2 months. My mother already waited 1 month how could they expect her to wait another 2 months. I left several messages for the Office Manager but never got a call back. The way the person at the reception desk here treats the patient is very bad, the attitude is bossy, he speaks rudely and has a haughty, unpleasant face like challenging the patient. I had an appointment at 9am but by 9:10 I asked why I hadn't received the call (when there were a lot of people who came after they were called). When I asked, the person at the reception desk, she said "you have to wait for about 30 minutes, if you can't wait, you can make another appointment). A racist way of serving and belittling patients. I recently had a cardiac/catheter ablation with Dr. Wakslak and the entire process and procedure was amazing and so seamless. I truly feel so lucky that he was my doctor. His assistant, Jenny, was available via text at all times in case I had any questions or concerns prior to the procedure, and she was always super helpful. Dr. Wakslak explained the procedure to me in detail, and made me feel safe and secure, since I was anxious about it. He really put my mind at ease, and I felt confident in him, which is so important to me, especially when it comes to a procedure on your heart!! The procedure itself was quick (about an hour and fifteen minutes), and it went perfectly (thank God)!! I felt and feel great, and my one week follow up with Dr. Wakslak went great, as well. He's just an amazing, proficient doctor, who takes TIME with his patients, and his staff do, too, without making you feel like you're asking too many questions, even though he does many cardiac ablations every week. I'd recommend my friends and family to him! read more

It gives me no pleasure to write this review. I hope that this review will encourage the medical staff to evaluate the poor communication by this office. The physician is excellent. Fine history and physical. A great first appointment. Downhill from there. 1. No follow up about test results 2. Left several messages for Doctor. No call back 3. Felt it was important to have follow-up appointment. Called, waded through long Voicemail prompts and several minutes of recorded music while on hold. Finally, voice said, no one will be available to speak for the rest of the day. Seriously!! I left a message and asked that someone return to my call. The next day I received a call saying that the Dr's assistant would return my call later that day. She never returned the call. I called again today and ultimately did speak to someone who was able to make an appointment, but this is 3 days later. Time to seek another cardiologist. read more

I had a heart attack in 2017 and Dr Hakimi was the Cardiologist on call at Vally Presbyterian Hospital that day. I feel blessed to have had him as my doctor! Dr Hakimi has a very soothing bedside manner which brought my anxiety down to a bearable level and he clearly communicated what needed to happen and when it needed would happen. Dr Hakimi performed an angioplasty on my blocked artery and the results have been amazing. No pain, no shortness of breath and I am back at the gym with no restrictions. Dr Hakim truly cares about his patients and I relate to him more as a friend than my doctor. I would not hesitate to recommend Dr Hakim to my family or friends! On Friday, July 20 I went to see Dr. Munaf Shamui, a cardiologist at the clinic. I arrived 15 minutes early as they requested and filled out the necessary paperwork then waited an entire hour before calling it a day and going home. They gave me the excuse that their was some work being done on the building but I told her I I was paying for a taxi and that it sounded like a "personal" problem. Terrible service. I had to take a taxi cab there and he ran me up a good $240.00 and I got absolutely 0 out of it. Never going back to this clinic. No wonder it only has three stars. That's a gift. read more

Horrible experience! After being a patient here for several years, I tried to get the office to take care of an authorization so I could keep my appointment. The phones were actually turned off for a day, no message just rang and rang and then went to a busy signal. Next day, same thing for half the day. Took forever to get a human, left on hold for long periods of time. I told the office person about it. No cussing, no yelling, nothing bad. I get a call from the the office manager that the doctor is discharging me as a patient with no explanation. Wasn't even the doctor I had been seeing. I asked for a call from that doctor and to my surprise, he called back. Told me I had made his girl cry and I should find a new doctor. This is not a normal place. Dr. Sanji was nice but you couldn't pay me to go to this office again. Good luck. read more

I was here recently for a nuclear stress and was extremely pleased with how it went. My test was administered by a gentleman by the name of Agim, who couldn't be nicer or more professional. His demeanor and way of communicating made the test as easy as it could be. I really appreciate his clear and caring way of communicating, and how he handled the procedure. I also appreciated the lady (Seda), who helped with the treadmill part of the test, as she paid close attention to how I was doing and was very helpful while I was doing that part of the test. read more

This office is run so well. I see Dr. Wakslack. I never wait more than 10 minutes, even if I'm early. He is thorough & makes himself available after hours. He reminds me of the doctors who makes house calls. We know that house calls no longer exist but will meet you at the ER in a moment's notice. I am very dissatisfied with The Heart Medical Group and Dr. Shamji. I was referred to Dr. Shamji from my eye doctor because I was complaining of a floater in my eye. I brought my mom to the appointment. I mentioned to Dr. Shamji that I was an avid runner and planned on running the LA Marathon which I completed twice now since this visit. Dr. Shamji did an EKG which I paid my deductible and covered this procedure. Dr. Shamji said my resting heart rate was excellent and mentioned that Lance Armstrong has a somewhat similar rate. As we were about to leave, Dr. Shamji said to do more examinations regarding my heart, he recommended a Stress Test. I asked what would be my cost. He said he would submit to my insurance and let me know. I told Dr. Sahmji in front of my mom that if I had to pay any out of pocket for the test, I do not want it. He called and said I would have to pay an undisclosed amount. I emphatically said no I do not want the Stress Test. Then some time later his secretary called me trying to set the appointment for the Stress Test. I mentioned to his secretary that I declined the test because I do not want to pay any cost and only will take the test if my insurance will cover it 100%. His secretary said we resubmitted my paperwork to the insurance company and they will now pay 100% of the test. I reiterated to her, are you sure. She said yes. So I took the test under the impression there would be no cost paid by me. Then I get a bill a few weeks later that I owe over $500.00 for this Test. I called Dr. Shamji and he said he would take care of it. Well he never did and now my account is in collections. I trusted Dr. Shamji and The Heart Medical Group that what they told me before I had the test was true that I did not have to pay for the test. I have always believed that doctors are ethical and honest. Not in this case and I agree with Jon. They mislead their patients and just think of how they can get money regardless if the patient really needs the procedure. This is my warning, find another heart doctor. read more

After reading the reviews I was hesitant about calling to schedule an appointment but I decided to give it a try since my authorization was approved to this place. I managed to speak with someone within minutes and expressed the need for a clearance since I was scheduled to undergo surgery. The lady I spoke to over the phone placed me on hold while she looked for availability, I was dreading being offered an appointment over a month out. When she returned to the phone call she asked if I was able to be seen the following day and I said yes right away. She expressed that due to the surgery I was scheduled for, the doctor gave the ok to fit me in and that I might have to wait a little longer. As long as I could be seen I did not mind. When I showed up to the place I was greeted by a kind lady at the front who handed me paperwork, soon after turning it in I was called in to an exam room where the nurse did a quick test and asked a few questions. I did wait quite some time for the doctor to see me once in the room but let me tell you.. it was worth the wait!! Dr. Shamji was just amazing. I highly recommend giving this place a chance. He was so sweet, precise, and overall caring. He answered all my questions, ordered some tests, and sent me on my way. The staff was attentive and friendly. read more

Bad news, ask your doctor for a different referral. Do not go here. I was referred by my doctor for an echocardiogram and brought my own EKG tape with me. I was shuffled into an exam room and the attendants hooked me up to wired to my upper chest only, I told them that I already had the EKG and tried to give them the tape. "This is routine, just lay down, " they said and ignored me. I thought it was strange that the EKG wires lead to no where, that's right, they didn't plug them into anything. When I looked, she then hid them behind a laptop one of the attendants had but didn't plug them in. There were also no leads attached to my legs, only to my chest. I came to find out that all EKG's plug into your legs too and they are not hooked up to a laptop. After that, the doctor came in and asked me a lot of personal questions about my family and work and I asked him about the echocardiogram and he said that they always do a consultation first and that I probably don't need one but he'll schedule me to have one with him in a week or so. I was dumbfounded, what a waste of time. I told my doctor that I didn't want this guy anymore and he scheduled me with a different medical group and I went there and was given the echocardiogram right away. I see the bill Dr. Munaf Shamji sent to the insurance company and he charged $350 for an EKG and office visit. So it's a scam that he plays, charging the insurance company for an office visit and EKG that is not needed or asked for. And the EKG sure didn't look real to me. Health care costs are high enough, don't encourage these people by going there. And the staff were very rude too. read more
