The best jazz lounge in San Jose, the Hedley Club is located at the back of the Anza hotel and adjacent to a not less beautiful patio. Every single thing there is exquisite. Check the ceiling. So much detail in the paints and the whole ensemble is very classy. You don't need to have anything to do with the hotel in order to access the club, and i noticed talking to people that is a total hidden gem not so known in San Jose. So do not miss a chance to attend one of their jazz nights free events, have a drink and get some Art Deco style to transport you to another era. Check that patio as well, it is just wonderful for gatherings or have a drink solo by those tiled fountains.

The Hedley Club hosts 55 pop up. What a lovely place for cocktails and soon live music! Date night

The perfect lounge for a relaxing evening. I've come here on multiple Wednesday evenings when they have a live jazz band playing and I find myself refusing to leave because of the lovely ambiance. If you love listening to Jazz or unique artists, this is your spot! You might want to check their website for when they have live musicians playing. Even when there is no live band playing, they have the music in the background that creates the perfect atmosphere to eat, drink a glass of wine and have a nice conversation. The waiters are absolutely phenomenal. They do a great job attending to everyone in the room. They have a good enough wine and mixed drinks selection. This is one of my favorite lounges in the Bay Area. I highly recommend it!

This place just earned another star! GORGEOUS lounge! FREE live jazz! Happy hour appetizers ALL NIGHT when there's live music (except if there's an event at HP Pavillion)! YUMMY appetizers! GREAT drinks! Pretty QUICK service even when they're super busy! Big flat screens to watch Sharks play! I wish they didn't stop happy hour when the Sharks are playing in town. This place is a bit pricey...but I love to lounge on a couch enjoying a glass of wine or a mixed drink, munching on appetizers, listening to live music and watching the Sharks. I like you Hedley Club Lounge, I hope your awesomeness never goes away.

Nestled in the back of hotel de anza is this little gem. A gem that needs to be talked about. A few nights ago, my co-workers and some chaps met up here to have a few drinks and unwind. It was my first time herr, and I've got to say, it is a very cozy spot. The inside is furnished with huge comfortable couches and chairs all around a fireplace. There was a live band playing some old school jazz. The bartenders and bar is well maintained and very hospitable. The lads behind the bar had all.sorts of hard alcohol to play with and a few exotic beers I've never heard of. The price for everything isn't terribly steep either. In addition, there is a beautiful patio in the back to really unwind. Overall; We really enjoyed ourselves with the live music, the great drinks and to cozy atmosphere. We'll definately be back!

I love Jazz night! This is an excellent venue for this. I imagine a Mad Men character drinking and smoking while enjoying the nice jazz tune here. This is reminiscent of a bar in a SF down town historic hotel. Rich mahogany wood...soft buttery leather couches. Rich carpet and scattering of rugs pulls the whole place together. Awesome cheerful and on point staff. Good food. I'd say this has a great potential of a date night place:) Thanks Jen C! :)

No place to sit on crowded nights like Fridays and Saturdays I'm assuming. We showed up to this spot since it had pretty decent reviews to try and impress our friend who was visiting and wanted to have drinks with us again. We were hoping this place would be a fun experience like singlebarrel down the street. BOY, were we WRONG-O! Drinks here are pretty...nasty in my opinion. I ordered a drink that a fellow Yelper recommended, it had a unique name to it with a UNIQUE taste, unique meaning nastayyy. When we finally scored some seats at the bar I decided I should order a simple drink like a mai tai. Probably one of the grossest mai tai's I've ever had. Almost as gross as the tequila sunrise I had at this ghetto lookin nightclub down the street from this place. The only upside to this place is that the couches are actually SUPER comfy. Fugly, but super comfy. (Restrooms are located on the lower level of the hotel) Beware of Pukey McPukerson older women there who can't handle their alcohol. My friend almost fell in the pukage at the top of the stairs that was drippin and leading down to the lower level into the restroom. ICK! Also, the damn waitress tried to charge my bf twice for the crappy drinks we had at the bar. That is a NO-NO in my book. I'm already cheap as it is sometimes, don't be chargin me double hobag. On a better note, there's a pretty Christmas tree out in the lobby of the hotel and you can take off the ornaments and play around with them and take funny asian pictures. Yeah, I said it...and we did it! Camera whores rule! :D

The ladies - Anna, Kay, and I were back together for the Memorial Day weekend! Anna and I had a whole evening planned - dinner at the San Pedro Bistro and Wine Bar and then head over to the Hedley Club Lounge for some jazz and drinks. Unfortunately, our friend's plane arrived late and so we decided to nix the San Pedro Bistro and instead, we headed straight to the Hedley Lounge. Luckily, Anna being the planner that she is made Kay a gourmet sandwich and so she scarfed that down in the car, "hittin' the spot" as Kay said. Just as we got seated, the kitchen had closed. It closes promptly at 10 p.m. They're known for their mixed cocktails so I ordered the Hedley "Amore-Hito", Anna got the Apple Martini, and Kay ordered a martini but the name of the drink escapes me. My drink aka mojito was not too strong, just light and refreshing. Both martinis were a bit strong but had a great flavor to it. We just sat back in the cozy, comfy chairs and enjoyed the jazz music that was playing. The room has got great acoustic sound. Wonderful way to begin the 3-day weekend with my girlfriends.

I've been here a couple of times. The live music scene on Friday's is fantastic and you probably can just walk in without having to make a reservation. It's slightly tricky to locate this one since it's located within the hotel. Great drinks and service along with ample seating for larger groups.

Find an elegant hideaway just steps from SJ downtown's busyness. Not feeling quite like downing large mugs of beer or fighting for a seat at the nearby square? Love jazz and art deco? The hotel is historic and classy, with a lounge to spend much needed downtime. Slow down and enjoy a cocktail while relaxing on a velvet couch and listening to live music. You won't be disappointed.

********************* 1228 ********************** I haven't been back here for years. It was nice to revisit The Hedley Club Lounge inside Hotel De Anza in downtown San Jose. The art-deco Hedley Club has been on locals' favorite cocktail lounges and Jazz club, a good place to relax by a wood-burning fireplace, sipping a cocktail at the marble and cherrywood bar. Seasonal cocktails, Mediterranean-inspired appetizers, small selection of wines be the galsss, weekdays from noon and weekends from 4pm till midnight. Some of the area's best live jazz is performed here. Stop by on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday each month from 7:30 - 10:30 pm for The Hedley Club Jazz Jam featuring some of the South Bay's best local artists. From WED-SAT, live Jazz jamming 7:30 - 10:30 pm, good fun place, older crowd, but elegant. If you order food: the Meatballs, Steamed Clams, and Brussel Sprouts are all good.New bartender Dave swore on the Meatballs because he's Italian. I got to give him that. The Meatballs were pretty good. Cocktail is $11 per glass, consider it reasonable here with live Jazz, you can't ask for more. If you love Jazz, this is the place for you in the South Bay. P.S. No validate parking, $8 per hour, unfortunately, but if you see Mr. Manager on board name Octavia, he's charming, sweet and nice to you on the valet parking fee!

Ask the Community - The Hedley Club

Is the Hedley Club Jazz Jam coming back?

    Closed permanently.

Do i need to make reservations in advance for jazz/blues? And what days do they hold them? I don't see the event page.

    Is this place 21+?

Can't say I know the rule but I'm staying at this hotel right now and the bar does not seem like a place for kids.

What the typical age group on weekend nights? Is it a good place to meet 40-55 yr old women or is a much younger group? Thanks!

I ordered a jack rose (my all time favorite), their seasonal watermelon waltz (this may be a new favorite for me, nice and refreshing) and one of their zero proof cocktails called a Mariposa which was soooo good as well. Not my personal cup of tea, but they do also offer sake and a few beers also. The first time we went, we ordered the arancini, bucatini, and the heritage pork katsu. I am a big advocate for trying new things every time I go to a restaurant, but it was so good I ordered the same thing the second time I went. Arancini is flavored with Japanese curry with creamy fontina in the center topped off with kimchi mayo. Holy f. These quite literally put the traditional Italian ones to shame (sorry not sorry). Next was the bucatini. It had tom yum butter, lime, basil- all the fix ins of what you want from tom yum flavors with the luxuriousness added from the butter. It was sinful. Last and certainly not least, is the pork katsu. I cannot even remember the last time I ordered a pork katsu, but something told me to order it. Thank God I did, as it quite literally changed my life. If they ever take it off the menu I am not sure I would be OK. It is crispy and is swimming in this koji butter, but the key is that it is NOT greasy. I quite literally think about it all the time. To the point where I had it twice in a week. Service was great, bartenders are so friendly. The place is cute and vibrant. Keep in mind it is small- limited seating inside and a small patio outside. But so worth the wait. Ambiance 5 Wine 5…read more Service 5 Food 5 So why the 4 rating... TBH there's a good chance that I'll adjust it soon, but if I could give a 4.5 I would. First the knock, and to be fair, it's probably just an opinion / idea. Given the birth of natural wine and the South Bay, it would be wonderful to see a curated selection of tasting flights, no more than two or three options with anywhere from 3 to 6 wine wines each, priced accordingly. Maintaining a proper wine menu when all you do is natural wine can certainly be a challenge. If you wine flights depending on what you have would certainly elevate the customer experience by educating more people natural wine and helping them make better choices when it comes to a bottle purchase. I paid $61 for a bottle that was recommended, and at that price point I wonder how many people who are new to natural wine might be turned off. Chris was a wonderful host and certainly the right person to engage with customers around their various wines. Given how small the space is and how busy it can get, a weekly tasting flight menu might be a good way to engage those customers who are waiting to order at the bar and perhaps even spark a more productive conversation with Chris. We ordered the peach and ricotta dish with Thai basil... wow, a wonderful surprise. Peaches are always battling in and out of the top spot on my summer fruit list and this combination was downright dirty and delicious! We also ordered the raw oysters with watermelon mignonette. Another wow! I didn't expect the little spice kick and it was a perfect pairing to the sweetness of the watermelon. If anyone knows the recipe let me know, I'd bottle that mignonette and take it with me wherever I have oysters!! Overall, a great experience and I most definitely look forward to going back!
