Miller High Life's, also known as stubbys

Best bar in San Jose, and it's not particularly close. You'll notice a full house on almost every weekend, and for a reason. This is a true bar of bars, excellent customer service, best cocktails in downtown, and truly cash only. Pool table is open for all, best highballs in the neighborhood, and most importantly CHEAPEST & COLDEST BEERS on the block. Highly recommend,

This is the coolest and nicest dive bar in town! You won't find better drink deals anywhere in SJ. Fresh and well made drinks using fresh citrus, freshly juiced apples, etc. for such a low price. And they're able to do this because the establishment is really cash only (it's not just a name!). My favorite is their delicious Frozen Irish Coffee, which is always a treat. But close second is their Whiskey Apple where they freshly juice a green apple for every order. You can even ask for non-alcoholic versions which makes this the only bar I know of where non-drinkers can get freshly pressed juice! They also have a great whiskey selection, including several private barrel picks. Lots of affordable canned beers too. For food they only have some limited snacks like chips and nuts, but also pickled vegetables and eggs. Pool table in the back that takes dollar coins.

Not pictured; the jukebox to the left. There's also a pool hall in the back before the bathrooms.

This was my first time at this particular bar and funny enough, we were at another bar earlier in the evening, which apparently is their sister bar!! That spot had a speakeasy field to it where you went downstairs and around the corner! This one was much more of a traditional "bar "but it reminded me of like an old 90s TV show, cheers. Lol. I never watched the show, but I've seen references of it. Everyone seem to know each other and there were people playing pool in the back. We got a round of drinks, but everybody was just hanging out so after we finished our drinks, we made our way home. I really like the old-fashioned jukebox and the different drinks on tap. I think it's interesting. They have pickled eggs and some other random snack snacks!! Surface was fine and quick. I wouldn't mind coming back again.

Parking: Downtown SJ is all metered or parking lots that should be free for a time limit. Interior: Dive bar vibes interior with low lighting, moderate noise level, and not too packed on a weekend night. Plenty of table seating, bar seating, and pool table in the back room. Wait Time: None, just ordered at the bar and they made it within 5-10min. Items Order: 10/10 Frozen Irish Coffee $11 - This is probably their specialty and was fire! Very refreshing, good coffee flavor, just the right amount of alcohol strength. 8/10 Whiskey Apple $11 - it's solid but not a wow. Apple flavor isn't strong but still refreshing drink. 6/10 Daiquiri $10 - I don't remember much besides sit being a strong drink and wasnt too great. 6/Gibson $9 - same sentiment as the daiquiri

It's a pretty casual, actually cash only bar with dim ambient lighting. They have ATMs if you need. There's a bit of an Old western theme going on with wooden barrels, leather couches. Pretty spaced out seating areas too so it's good for talking / catching up. Their frozen Irish coffee drink is superb. It's almost like drinking a milkshake and the alcohol isn't overpowering.

We love the atmosphere of this bar - it's a great place to satisfy everyone. There are games in the back, and the front is a bit more intimate. drinks are great too!

This place is my go to for a few drinks and good vibes. Usually not super packed, but good crowds. And as the name states it is CASH ONLY, but not to worry if you don't have any on you because they have a couple ATMs available with only about a $1 service fee. So the vibe is very classic and all the bartenders are great and attentive! Haven't seen him in a while but Jay was the BEST. They also have a pool table for anyone interested! So onto the drinks (the best part) not only are the prices great but the few specialty drinks they're known for are to die for. Specifically their frozen Irish coffee and their whiskey apple (trust me). Even if you're not a big whiskey drinker I promise you'll enjoy either of these. I'll always recommend Cash Only!

Met a couple of friends after work. The place is literally "ca$h only!" they do have an ATM. The place is pretty nice with the wall décor and pictures. My friends ordered beer and shots. I ordered an Irish coffee, it was pretty good like a frozen coffee with a shot. fast service!

This bar replaced the Dive Bar gem.. but what an Upgrade!! QUALITY drinks. Take a break from the sugary what the heck drinks at all the shake tail clubs .. and experience some interesting handcrafted drinks with quality liquor. I don't drink anywhere else now. I'll pregame at Cash only and walk to wherever I want to go after.. Crowd is laid back and the tenders are down to earth and easy to talk with. I love Cash

We do play country, but the playlist is VERY eclectic, with blues, ska, punk, outlaw country, rock, and more. If it sounds like you should be drinking whiskey or gin to it, its probably on the list!…

Not my personal cup of tea, but they do also offer sake and a few beers also. The first time we went, we ordered the arancini, bucatini, and the heritage pork katsu. I am a big advocate for trying new things every time I go to a restaurant, but it was so good I ordered the same thing the second time I went. Arancini is flavored with Japanese curry with creamy fontina in the center topped off with kimchi mayo. Holy f. These quite literally put the traditional Italian ones to shame (sorry not sorry). Next was the bucatini. It had tom yum butter, lime, basil- all the fix ins of what you want from tom yum flavors with the luxuriousness added from the butter. It was sinful. Last and certainly not least, is the pork katsu. I cannot even remember the last time I ordered a pork katsu, but something told me to order it. Thank God I did, as it quite literally changed my life. If they ever take it off the menu I am not sure I would be OK. It is crispy and is swimming in this koji butter, but the key is that it is NOT greasy. I quite literally think about it all the time. To the point where I had it twice in a week. Service was great, bartenders are so friendly. The place is cute and vibrant. Keep in mind it is small- limited seating inside and a small patio outside. But so worth the wait. Ambiance 5 Wine 5…read more Service 5 Food 5 So why the 4 rating... TBH there's a good chance that I'll adjust it soon, but if I could give a 4.5 I would. First the knock, and to be fair, it's probably just an opinion / idea. Given the birth of natural wine and the South Bay, it would be wonderful to see a curated selection of tasting flights, no more than two or three options with anywhere from 3 to 6 wine wines each, priced accordingly. Maintaining a proper wine menu when all you do is natural wine can certainly be a challenge. If you wine flights depending on what you have would certainly elevate the customer experience by educating more people natural wine and helping them make better choices when it comes to a bottle purchase. I paid $61 for a bottle that was recommended, and at that price point I wonder how many people who are new to natural wine might be turned off. Chris was a wonderful host and certainly the right person to engage with customers around their various wines. Given how small the space is and how busy it can get, a weekly tasting flight menu might be a good way to engage those customers who are waiting to order at the bar and perhaps even spark a more productive conversation with Chris. We ordered the peach and ricotta dish with Thai basil... wow, a wonderful surprise. Peaches are always battling in and out of the top spot on my summer fruit list and this combination was downright dirty and delicious! We also ordered the raw oysters with watermelon mignonette. Another wow! I didn't expect the little spice kick and it was a perfect pairing to the sweetness of the watermelon. If anyone knows the recipe let me know, I'd bottle that mignonette and take it with me wherever I have oysters!! Overall, a great experience and I most definitely look forward to going back!
