They used to have waitstaff take your food & drinks order. Also, you wait in line to get in and then you just have to find a spot to sit or stand. Before they would seat you. That being said, the drinks are amazing here. I love the vibe and the music was on point.

Best summer drink you'll find in San Jose!!!! All drinks are incredible but their seasonals are extra special

A cool old school vibe inside with some tasty drinks. Service was super friendly and they have plenty of bathroom stalls! We ordered the pear and tea cocktails! Would definitely come back!

Nice vibey spot with tasty drinks to match, love the speakeasy feel and variety on the menu. The dimly lit space truly transports you in time. There was a bit of a line to get in but the doorman regulated it pretty well so it never felt overly crowded when you were inside. Looking forward to trying some more of their creative drinks.

I honestly loved everything about this bar/speakeasy!! It was so quaint, rustic, and romantic, and I'm so happy I was on a girl date playing catch-up with my friend!! We got to have two rounds of special holiday cocktails and each one was better than the last! Well, they all had different flavors so I liked all of our drink drinks just because they were so eclectic and unique!! The pear liqueur was incredibly interesting to me. Then the bartender told me that they were a local Eastbay distillery and they do tastings!! So my girl and I are definitely taking public transit to the East Bay to go try out the distillery next!! We will definitely be back to this speakeasy!!

Haberdasher is one of those cocktail bars that immediately nails the mood. Dark, classy, intimate, and just the right amount of old-school speakeasy energy. The drinks were SO good. I had a key lime pie cocktail that somehow tasted exactly like dessert without being overly sweet, and the coconut pineapple drink we ordered was honestly addictive. And if you know about the secret menu... then you already know this place can make practically anything. That's where the fun starts. The bartenders are clearly talented and really know how to craft drinks around what you like. Definitely one of my favorite spots for cocktails and late-night lounge vibes.

Date night in Downtown San Jose and stopped in at Haberdasher to check it out. Seen it on yelp and needed to cross it off of my bucket list. It was early so we got a place at the front of the line. A few minutes later we were walking down the steps to the speakeasy. Down the stairs and around the corner were some vintage decorations reminiscent of the past. Took another turn and we were greeted with red walls and bowler hat lighting, a cool touch. Walked up to the bar and Julie was welcoming and friendly. she prepared us some drinks all I can say is that she is VERY good at her craft as a bartender. She made us a special concoction called a coconut cream sickle. This coconut cream cycle was smooth, tropical light and very refreshing. It was so good that we ordered two more. Took our drinks and looked for table to sit at. The place is on the smaller side and seating seamed limited. Found a table and sat to enjoy our drinks. There is no table service here so you need to get your drinks at the bar and your small bites at the bar too. Ambience was loud with music playing and lots of conversations.

Downtown San Jose's first speakeasy is still going strong after all these years. Their bartenders are highly skilled and knowledgeable, and can recommend something for anyone's tastes or even make something custom for you. This time I loved a lot of their special Halloween drinks and also a lot of their caffeinated drinks, like their Tie Tea and Pumpkin Spiced Espresso Martini. Unfortunately they don't have any substantial food, only 3 choices of nuts, so plan to eat before or after. Plenty of seating inside despite the small space.

One of my favorite bars in the Bay. Haberdasher is an awesome speakeasy bar with a tailor shop/home-y vibe. They've always got a great selection on the menu but if you ask them to make you a drink based on a flavor profile you describe, they will also make you something stellar. Some must-trys at Haberdasher are the Black lodge and the Old Fashioned. They do something with the Old Fashioned that makes it really phenomenal. All the bartenders are super knowledgeable and are great. I'd come here all the time if I could!

I've been visiting Haberdasher since it was Singlebarrel and I'm always excited to go because the drinks are just that good. Dropped in with my bro around 9 as it was starting to pick up. Dark, swanky, the definition of a speakeasy. Had to grab a seat at the bar to watch all the action. Shout out to Rebecca and her ability to really hone in on my drink preferences (sorry for testing you), but bravo for stringing three winners for me and my bro. Penicillin (bright acid)- Small Mistake (dark complex) - Orchard Sour (apricot/acid). Everyone seemed to be in a good mood tonight- I'm sure the drinks helped! Thank you for making every visit here amazing Team Haberdasher!

Absolutely loved the Haberdasher! Such a fun speakeasy vibe that takes you back in time -- we really need more places like this. The vibe is nice and classy but still very fun and upbeat, with a dimly lit ambiance. Even the bathroom fits the vibe! Staff are also all dressed up in apt attire and are very attentive and both serve and clean up quickly. The Sampalok and little Betty were both delicious and very high-quality drinks! I came on a Friday night around 8pm and it was not crowded then, but within an hour it got really crowded, and after passing by the line was growing. But there is no cover so it is worth a wait if there is one! Definitely recommend and I want to come back and try more.

Stopped by for this new-to-me cocktail, plus live music: 4.6/5: Little Betty: Johnnie Walker Scotch, Lagavulin 8 year scotch, ginger liqueur, Thai basil, lemon, bitters. It brings out the better flavor aspects of scotch. On the first Thursdays of the month, they have a band 6-10. It's mostly rap. The music is quite good. Great vibe. Here are my favorites from previous menus: They can make most of these: 4.9: Beer Flip. Rum, whole egg, sugar, dark beer. The dark beer lends the perfect bitterness to the rum. 4.9: Orchard Sour: Cognac, apricot, cinnamon, lemon 4.9: The Fall-Back: Laird's AppleJack, lemon, ginger beer. 4.8: The Idylewild is an excellent cobbler; it has a sour cherry note. 4.8: Mexican Chocolate Flip: Spiced rum, Tia maria, chocolate bitters, whole egg 4.7: East India Daiquiri: Batavia Arrack, Canton Ginger, pimento dram 4.7: Zihuatanejo: Mezcal, white vermouth, rosemary, lemon. 4.7: The basil gimlet is excellent. They use Junipero gin. 4.6: Paloma, on tap. tequila, agave, grapefruit soda. Good, but the flavor could be bolder. Good value batched cocktail.

Came here a couple of times with friends. I think this speakeasy takes you out of San Jose. We don't have many, and the vibe feels like you're time traveling to the 1920s. I had a hard time going to it for a while because there always seemed to be a long line. When you get downstairs, there's an adequate amount of seats and good ventilation. The noise isn't too loud. I think some of the cocktails are basic, but there are others that stand out. The menu is easy to read through a QR code. The service is always great, even with the guy working the door upstairs. For drinks, I usually go for a beer. I've had their watermelon cocktail which is refreshing. One of their cocktails is a pink peppercorn flavor inspired by the ice cream at Penny's; I felt indifferent about it as the pepper flavor wasn't that strong. Prices are normal for the Bay--a bit on the expensive side. Overall I'd love to come back.

    Do they have live music?

We do not, unless it's a special event like our annual NYE party or SoFA Street Fair.

Can I come at 12:01 AM the night of my birthday? I know CA doesn't have a law against this, but I'm assuming bars might have their own policy?

You sure can. Make sure you haven’t imbibed too much before arriving, as it’s against that law for us to admit or serve anyone exhibiting signs of intoxication.…

    Dress code to get in?

No dress code. Over the years we have found even the finest folks like to be comfy while sipping their favorite cocktails, as do we when we're not behind the bar!

The kitchen is open and you can appreciate the chefs working on their open wood fired grills and pizza ovens, which imparts a faint, woody, aromatic fragrance in the restaurant. The staff is polite and courteous. They left a signed note on the table for my husband's birthday which was a sweet gesture. For the drinks, we started with the jean claude pandan, pandan being the my husband's current favorite ingredient in food and drinks. I had the drink with dill, which the server warned me about being centered around the flavor of pickles (which I am personally fond of). The pandan drink was a light and refreshing highball and I found the dill cocktail to be creamy and delicious, but didn't really leave me with a sour aftertaste. For food, we went with the drip trio platter which came with fresh pita bread pieces, and the drip trio of hummus with roe on top, chilled tzatziki, and muhammara. Then we moved on to the oysters which were fresh, will a dressing of an herb oil of some sort. They also had a complementary palette cleanser in between which was a shot of watermelon and orange juice. For maincourse, my husband went for the tagliatelle and I chose the ravioli, both choices were corroborated by our server to be the right ones to go for. The tagliatelle is expensive because of the lobster and caviar that it comes with. However, the pasta is delicious and comes in a decadent sauce. Not a lot of lobster pieces though. The ravioli had a robust mushroom flavor and came with a light sauce of mushrooms, crispy fried shallots, and pine nuts. We skipped dessert because we were pretty full already. Would definitely recommend this place for a cozy dinner out but it's quite expensive so might not be a place to go to frequently.

We quickly learned that it's actually closer to $40 since you need to buy a $14-17 mocktail/cocktail. I'll be honest, I don't drink that much so I can't tell you if that's expensive but it does feel like a bit of a bait and switch. We ordered truffle fries, koji wings, the classic burger and two prime rib dinners. All of the food arrived at different times so some of it was already cold before we started eating. I know we could start eating whatever comes out first but let's be honest. Dining with friends is a very social event and it's somewhat standard for dishes to arrive together. I also ordered subbed truffle fries, was charged the sub, but ended up getting regular fries Food-wise, the koji wings were pretty good. There was a good amount of seasoning and the breading texture was super crispy. The meat itself was a bit bland. Truffle fries were super crunchy and had a balanced truffle flavor. Burger was fine. I've definitely had and made better burgers before. It was a pretty standard burger. Cooked good. A bit overpriced for how mild of a burger it was though. Prime rib was a huge portion. I only had a couple bites from my friends but it seemed well-seasoned. Some parts were nice and tender but the red parts were very chewy. Overall, main dishes were OK in portion but lackluster in experience. Side portions are on the smaller end considering their price but generally delicious. Considering their extensive alcohol collection, I think this place is definitely known for its vibe and drinks rather than its food. Staff seem super friendly though! Especially the bartenders

She ordered a lychee something or another and he was right. It was delicious. Nothing overpowering just everything complimentary. We like to order "family style." We ordered the brussels sprouts, milk bread, endive salad, gnocchi, fried chicken and for dessert an order of beignets. Brussels sprouts were charred the way I like. Milk bread fluffy, buttery and both butters were delicious. The endive salad was a must. Gnocchi was pillowy with a hint of lemon in the ricotta filling and those mushrooms gave a nice touch to that cream sauce. You would think fried chicken breast would translate to dried out but it didn't. It was crispy on the outside and they did it just right to maintain the juicy center. The waiter overheard it was my birthday and brought me an order of bread pudding with ice cream with a candle to sing happy birthday to me before bringing out the beignets we ordered for dessert. Those beignets btw, crispy on the outside and light and airy on the inside and all the sauces it came with paired beautifully with it. Perfection! Thank you for being such gracious hosts and creating such edible master pieces.

OMG, I am truly impressed with the food here! Most restaurants have at least one so-so dish, but…read morenot Goodtime Bar. Went here on a Saturday night with a girlfriend and we ordered: Steak Fries, Bucatini Pasta, Clams, Tomato & Cheese Dip (AMAZING! ) In fact, every single dish was completely on point. The vibe inside is super fun--there's a tiny bar lit up by a spinning disco ball. However, the ordering process is pretty disconnected and chaotic. You normally have to order food and drinks at the bar, but because the entire interior was so packed with people waiting for tables and pre-dinner drinks, the host kindly offered to help us at our table. The catch? She could only take our food order and not the drinks. It's definitely a bit disorderly, but the incredible food almost makes up for the logistical mess!

I came here with a party of 8 for a birthday celebration. There are no reservations, just walk-in /…read morefirst come first serve basis. The bar was pretty busy with groups at all the tables so we had to sit outside on stools at a fold up table. You walk inside to place an order then you get seated at a table. The staff were really nice and gave great recommendations for our group who were beginner wine drinkers. Super cool vibe inside, they even have a disco ball and cute decor. My expectations were already low as I'm not usually into tapas style (aka small portion but expensive and possibly mediocre food) but boy was I wrong. All of the food that we ordered was genuinely so good. I still think about the BUCATINI (tom yum butter, lime, garlic and basil) and would solely come back for that dish. The portion sizes were on the smaller side but it is tapas, we had a group of 8 hungry people so that was on our part lol Overall, would recommend and come back to try some of their other dishes and wine! super cute for date night
