We popped into Cardiff around 9p on a weeknight and there were barely any other customers -- a total of 7 people. However, this place was far from dead. The DJs were spinning GREAT tunes and the bartender was friendly and attentive. Before long, others started streaming in and suffice it to say we had a lot of fun on the d-floor. Came here this weekend to celebrate a birthday and check out some local DJs. All the staff from the bouncers to the bartenders provided exceptional service. Shoutout to Ashley for making really solid Moscow mules! The security to patron ratio is setup really well and it was good vibes throughout the evening. This is a pretty cool place. I went in there with my significant other after 10pm and it was lit. The DJ is pretty good, their bartenders are quick and very attentive, their drinks are strong. I love the vibes out here, it's like pretty small in there but there's a sitting area outside and you're allowed to go chill there and go back inside. This place was off the hook! Visited for my nephew's birthday get together and had a blast. Met the owner Sam he was really nice and welcoming. The staff was very helpful and on point. Looks like this place is restricted to 150 people. I did not see a food menu or bar snacks. Drinks are priced ok. Not sure if I would be too into the crowds and music here on the weekend. But my mid-week visit was fun and chill. RubberSoul (hip hop, soul, and rnb) is apparently on Wed nights... think music like Paperboy's Ditty (yes, that one made my night!) The drinks were strong, the bartenders and DJ's were friendly, the crowd was carefree, respectful, and just having a good time... not overbearing in numbers, but not dead and empty, which is a great balance. The place was clean, with cool colored lighting, comfy lounge seating in the back (though barely used on a Wed night), and a small dance area with a couple TV screens. Was looking for a place to have drinks and dance, we came early it was empty, started with our drinks and proceeded to dance, there was only one person on the dance floor. We didn't realize there was a sign that said no song request, we asked if the dj can play a song, a staff member lady interrupted and yelled at us twice saying did you not see the sign no song requests in a very rude demeanor. We were actually shocked! Was already greeted by the bouncer with a little attitude but didn't think much of it. No, the big "C" outside is not a rating. True, when the place is going off, it is too loud, crowded, and obnoxious to be anywhere else but at a stool at the bar, where you can be two inches from the ears of your friends or date to be heard. When the place is not going off, it's among my favorite bars in downtown Campbell because I like the servers, it's usually nice and cool, and best of all it is big and super dark, the only light coming from the bar, the various TVs playing movies, smartphones, and the red CLUB sign in the back. I went out with my friends this weekend and we were kicked out by the manager and security for another woman throwing her drinks on my friend for trying to pass through the crowd... Security rushed in (apparently they knew the girl that threw the drink) and kicked me and my friends out... this is such a poor experience, everyone that works there is rude, unprofessional, obviously drunk, and not on the right state of mind to look out for anyone's interest but for the people they favor. Aweful service terrible treatment of patrons. Just left in tears after a few friends wanted to celebrate a good bye for me as I'm moving out of state. We wanted to have a fun time but instead walked out crying as we were discriminated for being African American & Mexican. This dive bar has been on Campbell Ave. forever and beyond. They redecorated this place and had a re-opening in 2015. This spot is right in the middle of the strip of downtown Campbell where all the action is. You will find it hopping on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings. When I'm heading out for a GNO this is one of the spots all of us meet for the first round of cocktails. It had all the good looking 30-40ish crowd so I have no business being there ;) It gets crazy crowded on the weekends and if the loudness and crowding bothers you, don't go. Stay away! My friends and I went on a night out in downtown campbell and the bouncers refused to let 2 out of the 4 of us in due to "sports apparel". My friend was wearing a baseball hat and I was wearing a warriors sweatshirt. This place is not upscale or fancy by any means and I was unable to locate a dress code on their website. Within 5 minutes of arriving and standing in line, the manager/bouncer, Bobby, wrongfully accused my friends and I of starting a fight earlier inside of the bar. He confronted us aggressively, repeatedly shouting at us that we are not allowed in and we "can't fool him" because he's "sober". As it turns out, a fight had broken out inside the bar prior to our arrival, instigated by a young Asian female similar to my own identity, and I was likely being mistaken for her. We, along with other bystanders, attempted to explain to him that he had us mistaken, but Bobby cuts us off repeatedly stating that he "does not care". As I was walking away, a woman standing behind the bouncers (whom I had no interaction with prior) began to yell at me, calling me a "f*cking chink". She called me this slur twice. The bouncers had absolutely no reaction to this woman screaming out racial slurs and continued to let her stay on the premises. Instead of taking action against the racist, the second bouncer had the audacity to ask me why I let her get to me and if I wasn't guilty as they claimed me to be, then why was I upset. They claim to not tolerate violence as they refused to let us in thinking we had started a fight, but there they were tolerating racism and allowing this woman to instigate a potential altercation. Bobby is the manager of Cardiff and represents the establishment and their values. He lacked professionalism not only during my experience but during others' too as shown in previous reviews. He enables unacceptable discriminatory behavior by allowing it to occur and by failing to implement consequences against patrons that participate in such behavior. It seems as he has not faced any consequences for his actions (or lack thereof) and fails to provide a safe and inclusive environment. If this type of behavior does not bother you then by all means, continue supporting this establishment. My friends and I, however, will never be back here again. As for the owners of Cardiff, I hope you improve your hiring process because your current management and workforce are sorry excuses for employees. read more

Went for the music and dancing on a regular Saturday night. Very diverse crowd, different age groups enjoying, and great vibe. Not always a fan of deep house but the energy in the room was very fun, and the djs mixed it up with some progressive house and other higher tempo beats. Overall my friend and I had an amazing time. Went there last night around 11 pm and one of my friends only had a picture of his ID. The security at the entrance wouldn't accept it but he said we could talk to the other security at the front door. That guy told us we could only go in if we gave him $40, $20 for him and for his "boy" (the first security) I can't believe they allow security to treat people like that!! Remember 'Shakin Not Stirred' as they stated it in their grand opening flyer to tonight 09/15/2016. Cardiff owner Sam and partner Vee have been in this nightlife and hospitality business for a long time. These veterans know what they are doing, from the Continental Bar in downtown San Jose, Pizza sport bar & restaurant in Milpitas to another wine bar on Santana Row, together they bring the best for the guests. All furnitures are new, the bar got a facelift and brand new light fixtures that is chic, swanky, and Mad Men. The dancing floor and EDM/House music DJs will stay for the fans here. Cardiff & Cocktails has been soft opening recently but the real party is tonight, the grand-opening. Metro Magazine photographer Greg Ramar captured beautiful photos inside the new Cardiff & Cocktails (see photos) and I was lucky enough to be there tonight for the preview.
