Very good service. The waiter was attentive. No problem getting a refill for my coffee even though they were quite busy. This was our first time eating here and we had no problems what so ever. All 3 meals were served hot and enjoyed thoroughly. All staff members though busy appeared cheerful and often exchanged banter with the customers. Don't be fooled by the exterior. Plenty of room on the inside. Enjoyed a great breakfast and will be back to check out the lunch menu. read more

Perfect portions for an even better price. This place hit the spot exactly with me. They are cash only but I had a complete breakfast for 2 under $20. We got there around 9am and immediately had a table. While we were leaving a half hour later (that's how fast the food comes out) it did look like there was a little bit of a wait. Staff was very nice and courteous with prompt service. I would definitely come here again and definitely recommend to anyone looking for a good breakfast. read more

Best breakfast in Gardner...hands down. Try the biscuits n' gravy. It's truly delicious. Parking is sometimes a challenge and it does get quite crowded. Prices are reasonable. Waitstaff is friendly and efficient. Not a huge fan of the cash only policy or the one person bathroom that when the door opens you have to be careful not to hit someone eating breakfast...but we still go there a ton. read more

I have been here a few times and each time you have to wait a couple minutes for seating. I ordered two eggs over easy, hash, and toast. The eggs were cooked perfectly, the hash was your average canned hash nothing homemade. They have baby seating and most customers are very happy to see a young child. There is also bar style seating for those going in alone for a quick meal. The wait staff is friendly and fast, the restroom is a little dated, and the decor is on a high level of kitsch. Overall it's worth your time and money to check out this place for a great breakfast for reasonable prices. read more

One of my favorite breakfast places. I was never a huge fan of going out for breakfast, but once my boyfriend introduced me to the Hen House, I decided it was worth it. There is always a wait for breakfast on the weekends. I'm not the best at being patient, but I will wait to eat here. The food is quality, delicious, consistent and comes out pretty quickly for how bustling it is. The staff is pleasant, efficient and seem to work together quite nicely. The only downfalls that I can think of is that it's cash only so you have to hit the atm first if you don't carry cash (like me), and here and there you wait a while longer than necessary when people sit and chit chat well after their plates are cleared and bill is paid. read more

I think the reason this place gets good reviews is there are very few options for breakfast locally. It's just ok, the coffee is awful and the place looks and feels dirty. I would agree with some of the others that this is the best breakfast in Gardner. But you pay for what you get definitely applies here - so get ready for $10.00 plates. BMD up the road ins't quite as pricy or big but if its just you and your not trying to impress anybody try those guys out instead. We only came here because my mother received a gift certificate, and I can't speak for my parents, but I can assure you I will never be back. First, let me say that the busboy is spectacular - he turns over tables faster than you can realize one is empty - but he was the only positive part of my experience here. We had to wait an absurdly long time just to get menus, and when we did get them, the waitress basically just tossed them at us. While we waited for our food, I noticed the servers routinely dead bolting the door after each customer left, so that customers had to figure out they needed to unlock the door themselves to get out. That door is the only egress from the building, meaning they have now sealed in every occupant of that restaurant, and in the event of a fire, the crush of people trying to get out a locked door would no doubt result in numerous deaths. (I'm reasonably sure that constitutes a felony fire code violation.) That alone is enough to deter me from ever returning, but it gets better. The waitress brought out our food, with plates stacked on top of each other. The side plate of sausage was sitting ON my French toast. Their kitchen could be spotless and that would still be all sorts of wrong because I don't know what sort of nastiness could have been on the counter that plate sat on before said nastiness was then transferred to the surface of my brunch. To make it even better, when we told the manager, he said they "try to be efficient that way." That is not efficiency! It's just disgusting! My father's sourdough toast wasn't just burned, it was BLACK, and when he pointed it out to the manager, his response was "We've been here since 5am, so we're kind of tired." I'm sorry, I don't care if you've been here since 5am yesterday, that is not an excuse for poor food prep and service! All these complaints were brought to the attention of management and NOTHING was done to make up for it beyond basically saying "Oops!" Like I said at the start, I can't speak for my parents, but I will never be back. read more

Best breakfast around, been going here for years. I absolutely love reading the bad reviews... as if any of the regulars give a crap about your single bad experience. Here's the secret, DON'T show up right before closing, these people work their butts off all day and they want to go home (how do you feel at the end of a long shift) so do yourself a favor: show up early and don't expect first class, 5 star cuisine. i agree with the other comments about the friendly waitstaff. the food truly is really good. The only problem is that in my experience is the wait. it always takes them a long time to get my meal out the door. Perhaps they should also learn that if they are going to have breakfast all day they should keep everything going. I do not think that i ever got eggs Irish the way i ordered. i will ask for them poached but they wont tell me until much later that they turned the water off and they are coming out differently. still they are one of the best in Gardner. definitely better than the blue moon but nothing compared to cruisers read more
