This is a lovely affordable cafe with excellent coffee and food. It was kind of packed on a Saturday afternoon, but they are relatively fast with preparing the food. We got pumpkin spice waffles (mouth watering with the sauce), lox bagel, Mac and cheese, peanut butter cookie, and one of the wraps with chicken in it, I don't remember which. The lox bagel had cucumbers and chive spread instead of capers but it was really good. The cookie was nice and chewy and not too sweet. I also got a bag of coffee beans to try later at home that I'm looking forward to. Everything we ate was tasty and came out in a few minutes even though they were so busy. I will definitely be back. (Also, this is not important, but cafes usually get my name wrong because it's old fashioned, and I thought it was really cute that the cashier tried to remedy this by correcting it on the receipt.) read more

It's funny, I've biked by Bolton Bean dozens of times, every time saying to myself "we should eat here some time!", but like so many plans... we finally DID! We had breakfast here today, and really enjoyed it. The food was great, the location excellent, and the staff warm and inviting. The indoor area has a cool vibe, with tin & exposed wood ceilings and lots of tables. Outdoor (where we should have sat in hindsight had we realized how warm it was!) has tons of seating amongst the greenery as well. We had lox on an everything bagel and a chorizo breakfast sandwich with a pear coffee and an apple chai. The bagel was tasty and reasonably sized. I'd order it again in a heartbeat. I added a touch of salt but I always prefer that over too salty since you can't remove it. The best solution would be for them to add capers (briny and easy to remove), which is traditional with lox. The chorizo breakfast sandwich was super tasty with just the right amount of zing! I snuck the avocado mash into the bagel too.. The coffee was smooth and flavorful. The apple latte was bright and fruity, almost like cider with steamed milk? Ok that sounds weird but it was good I swear! Oh and we got a chocolate croissant and a cinnamon muffin to go! Mine didn't go far and was quite good as soon as we got home. Not sure if the muffin survived into the afternoon either.. I have to note that their waffles sound really good but I didn't order them because they don't have real maple syrup available. I highly recommend offering real maple syrup even if it's as a paid add-on. I would also call it "maple-flavored syrup" otherwise if it isn't real to warn people. We're in New England! Thank you Bolton Bean! I loved my coffee (breve latte) and the Bean Signature breakfast sandwich. It was absolutely scrumptious (eggs, cheddar, bacon, avocado on multi grain bread). Perfectly prepared and what a reasonable price ($8). Service was friendly and helpful. My friend needed a few tweaks to her choice based on food allergies and it was no problem. I tried a bite of her curried chicken salad; it was delicious. My photos show the nice interior and cute patio. They definitely excel with the breakfast offerings and lunch sandwiches. The Vermonter is a confident go-to. Service has always been quick. Sometimes, it is curt but always professional. Good morning! It's time for "first coffee" and I spent three hours here so it ended up including "second coffee" as it was a comfortable and quiet spot for laptopping. Starting off with a cortado which arrived in a paper cup. A bit more "foamed" milk rather than steamed but still tasty and rich. Second coffee was a simple double espresso, also in a paper cup. Friendly baristas, lots of different seating arrangements, inside and outside tables, and a free wifi that worked well. I did not have any of their breakfast sandwiches but they looked good. Bolton Bean is a fantastic option for great, fresh-tasting food and really delicious coffee. The inside is adorable, clean. The service is quick and efficient! I got an egg and cheese on an English muffin and it legitimately was the best English muffin I've had and the eggs tasted so fresh. Mostly good experiences to date but today there was a very rude and unaccommodating girl at the front. No hello, no flexibility to make kids scrambled eggs with little options for kids. I was disappointed in my visit today. The Chai tasted watery and like it was out of a mix or box. My bagel was eh, the bagel itself was good but the fixings lacked. But first coffee! Loved this little spot, had stopped in for the first time with a friend for breakfast. What a cute place with a small amount of outdoor seating as well as plenty of space inside. The coffee was amazing I tried the maple iced coffee and I couldn't be happier with my choice. For food we got the quiche and the Vermonter breakfast sandwich. Both were so delicious and flavorful. We spent a few hours here and the atmosphere was great to relax with friends, stop in for a quick bite, or catch up on some work. The staff were all so friendly and more than happy to help with recommendations. I love this place! Awesome breakfast sandwiches, drinks and snacks. "The Vermonter" is my go to breakfast sandwich: Bacon, egg, cheddar & maple syrup on a croissant. This thing is loaded with flavor and is always cooked perfectly. If you're thinking lunch, their Caesar wrap is also really good. Perfect portions and the croutons they add really hit the spot! In need of breakfast, my good friends suggested the Bolton Bean. I'm so glad they did because I had an absolutely delicious morning meal in a relaxing outdoor space. The employees efficiently worked through the line that had amassed and I was able to order in no time at all. I went with a small decaf coffee with oat milk and a Vermonter breakfast sandwich. The coffee was delicious and with the oat milk, didn't even need sugar! The sandwich was so filling - egg, bacon, cheddar, and maple syrup on a croissant. I couldn't even finish the whole thing (though I wish I could have because it was so tasty)! The outdoor seating is plentiful and shaded. It was a very pleasant locale to enjoy my breakfast. What a cute local coffee shop! The vibes here are completely on point and I loved just sitting outside with my coffee and sandwich, enjoying the laid back atmosphere. I ordered the Black & Blue, which was a cold brew with blueberry vanilla foam. The blueberry was a little odd to me but I appreciated the ingenuity. My husband also thought his drink was pretty average. I also got the reuben and it was on point - everything I wanted in that moment. My husband got the turkey sandwich and loved it as well. Really wanted a good cup of coffee for the road but this was not it . Lovely place nice seating area, very accommodating staff but .... the coffee was really weak. Did not even have a coffee aroma. The drinks here are absolutely amazing, I have had a chai, pistachio latte, and the frozen cookies and cream latte and all have been absolutely fantastic. I live in town and for residents, it's nice to have a local place like this. The inside is restored from the old Salt Box store and it has perfect character to sit and work, meet a friend or just get some quiet time. Plenty of space to not feel claustrophobic on a busy day. The outside has plenty of seating in the warm weather if you want to be outside and away from a crowd. The sandwiches and pastries are always good here - never a complaint with the taste. Also, love the coffee. I've had a number of hot and cold drinks and they are always consistent. The service here has always been good. Nobody is overly friendly, but never rude. I always get treated respectfully as a valued patron and that works for me. All in all, I recommend stopping by for a coffee and/or a bite to eat. Eh. I wasn't impressed. When I read through other reviews it made sense why others has rated it so poorly too. The food was bland. I got the chicken curry. The service wasn't great. There was no desire to make connection or chat. It was all very transactional. The energy of the place was just flat. There wasn't that spark or light or pop of excitement that I was expecting. When a place is as cute as the Bolton Bean inside, I'm usually eager to try other things "next time!" It's clear. There won't be a next time. The first time I went here was amazing so I figured I'd give it another go and try and hide from the heat for a few hours today. The coffee tasted good, but is pretty overpriced given how most of my cold brew was ice. I finished it before my sandwich came out. The sandwich was overpriced and not at all worth it. The turkey was the slimy, salty deli turkey you'd get in a cafeteria, and the stuffing was just mush. The cranberry sauce was ok, but just made everything soggy. And despite the bread being toasted, everything was stone cold. The annoying and screechy ladies sitting next to me were not the coffee shop's fault, but the flies were. I was getting absolutely swarmed. I probably won't be venturing back. read more
