I was 15 days till closing on the purchase my dream retirement home when the sale of my old house fell out. Not only was I going to lose the new house & my deposit, the hellish experience of marketing a lived-in home & several thousand $$$ spent had been for naught, and I'd be back to ground zero on the relocation plan. Ugh, heartbreaking... Long story short... After over 25 years I was ready to downsize & relocate. I spent a couple years determining where to spend my next chapter. It was at that time I met Erik. I'd noticed the impressive transformation taking place on the recently sold corner house...so made a point to talk with the new owner, Erik, a professional "flipper". I got greedy & decided to gamble on the 'potential' greater profit of a conventional sale...but lost the bet because I had a clock ticking! All was going according to plan until my sale fell out. The purchase was contingent & those sellers were adamant about a timely closing. The day after my house was put back on the market, I got a call from Erik "Terrie, what happened?!?" and I told him my sad story. When he told me he was in a better place to make a deal than 2 months prior when I was getting this ball rolling & that he could make it possible to keep the dream going. Talk about music to my ears! Within 48 hours I had cancelled my realtor contract & entered escrow with Erik. I trust Erik to act ethically & fairly. Because Erik & I had communicated regularly & openly about my options for nearly two years, I felt confident that the deal we negotiated was mutually beneficial.
