This place is the best Wine bar/Bar/Hangout in Cypress area!! I live downtown now but still come out to cypress to enjoy this place. Hidden Cellar is tucked away a little bit but once you discover it you won't go anywhere else. There are so many good things to say about this place... First, the two ladies who own the place (Lisa and Karen) are amazing. I think they really listen to and understand the customers likes vs dislikes then give recommendations for wine based on that. I've never had a wine I didn't like! These ladies plus the other wait staff go over and beyond to make sure your time here is memorable. It seems every time I come here anyone who is left, 'shutting the place down', toward the end of the night all gather up around the bar enjoying good drinks and laughs with each other. Around the bar they do have 2 big TV's so ladies can bring their men here to enjoy wine in an intimate atmosphere and they can still watch the big game. They have good live music pretty frequently that isn't to over bearing so you can still enjoy conversation with your table. The food is really good! You have to try the white Queso! It's unlike anything I've ever had before. All the sandwiches are great and they have some food items that are only on the weekend. I had a pasta once that was really good. On Sunday's they have 50% off wine by the glass from the bottles that are opened. If you're not a wine drinker they have a good beer selection as well. This little wine bar is a hidden secret. The GPS had a little hard time finding it but was not a big deal. The service was good, prices were reasonable and as an added surprise there was live music. Perfect for date night! I only wish they had wine flights by robustness to taste different varietals. The waitress did open a bottle for me to try which was nice. Food variety was limited but tasty. It's a cute spot close to home! I think with the high ceilings and high tables it makes it a bit to cold. I would add more comfy chairs or couches and some warmth. Ambience could be improved with better decor to create a nicer experience. Music is great and the food we ate was good. Wine is served to cold which affects the flavor. This is literally a hidden gem in the middle of a neighborhood. Staff is adorable and so sweet! Friendly waitstaff and very attentive. I am a local restaurant owner and my husband and I had a wonderful first experience- can't believe it took us so long to find this place! If you are looking for your "Cheers" bar, this is it. House Hahl Road is in Cypress off of 290 and runs between Fry and 99. Unless you live in the area, it will feel like you are on some random back road. Trust Google, and you will find yourself in a non-assuming strip mall-- do not let this deter you! This lovely gem is full of intimate nooks to be seated at, but if you prefer the bar, head to the back. It is tiny but warm and friendly. Both of the owners were there, along with several regulars, and we thoroughly enjoyed meeting everyone. The wine list is, IMO, better than some of the local alternatives given its size. What I really l loved, however, was the genuine welcome we received from both customers and owners. Being a small business owner in the restaurant biz is incredibly tough and can be un-needlessly competitive, yet I would recommend this establishment in a heartbeat. What a nice place to visit !! I was traveling on business and looking to unwind after a long day. A glass (turned into a bottle) seemed to be the ticket. After a quick search, I found the Hidden Cellar. A comfortable seating arrangement with both tables and a bar area. There are also TVs so you can catch the latest games. A menu also had several interesting items, although I did not eat. I will eat on my next visit for sure. The have a nice store to purchase wine accessories as well as bottles or cases of wine. The ladies who run the establishment also offer several ice cold beers if wine does not fit the needs that night. The Hidden Cellar is a very intimate, high end wine bar. The wine selection is great, they have a nice selection of cheeses, and small entrees to choose from. But the real draw are the owners, Lisa Sprague and Karen Babineaux. Two of the nicest, smartest, warm, friendly people I have met in a long time. They make a point of learning your name, and your wine or beer preference. For me, when I go there, It's kinda like walking into Cheers. "Anne's Here!" is generally what I hear. Who wouldn't love that! They also have live music on the weekends and it's usually pretty good. I have to say that singer/guitarist Pete Scafidi is my fave! He does a wide variety of genres and puts an absolutely wonderful spin on everything he sings! Love him! The Hidden Cellar Wine and Beer Bar does offer up a significant section of wines as well they should; they are a wine bar after all, right? In addition they have a decent selection of cheeses and other assorted food selections that pare nicely with a glass or bottle of vino. Lastly, the venue staff are indeed friendly and welcoming. I am not troubled they are in a small strip mall off the beaten track either as some of the best venues I have experienced are similarly situated. What lowers my rating of this establishment is its aura and vibe. It just doesn't have the aesthetic I prefer when seeking out a destination location I want to go back to time and again. Personally, I think The Hidden Wine Bar would benefit from some more comfortable seating, more subdued lighting and playing some soft jazz that suits the relaxed feel one wants at the end of the long day in an establishment where one comes primarily for conversation and savoring an excellent array of wines from around the world. read more

I don't normally write reviews for places, but felt the need to for an absolutely wonderful place that is truly a hidden gem in the area. The atmosphere is casual and intimate and I live that there are different seating areas if you want to join the group listening to the live music, or sit in the comfy lounge chairs in the front and still hear the music. My GF loves wine, but I'm a veer drinker. Fortunately they have a great selection of both.
