Fried chicken with collards and mashed potatoes

The bad: Place needs a deep cleaning. Drinks are weak and overpriced. $11 and $11.50. The good: Fried chicken and crab cakes are outstanding and fairly priced. Servers are nice.

30 fried shrimp dinner with coleslaw and collard greens

My wife and I spent a week in Amelia Island and after reading some reviews, we made the trek over to the Yulee area to try The Hidden Crab - we were not disappointed. It's true that the parking is a bit of a rubix cube, but if you come early enough it won't be an issue. My wife had a two piece fried chicken dinner (breast and leg) with mashed potatoes w/gravy and green beans while I had the 30 shrimp plate with coleslaw and collard greens. Both meals were delicious, so much so that we came back a second time later that week. Sweet tea was good and had no issues with the service. When looking over the cost of the meals, we felt we'd stepped into an establishment pre-covid. $17.99 for 30 fried shrimp (and they're not small) with two sides and a drink? Sign me up. Easily a $27-30 meal on the gulf coast and at other major establishments. We enjoyed our meals at this hidden gem and will return next month!

Visiting family in Fernandina Beach for a few days on my travels back to Naples, FL. Had a craving for fried chicken and discovered The Hidden Crab right here on yelp. Sister, who has lived here for 1 year, said she had not yet been there yet it was less than 5 minutes from her home. I said, let's check it out, good reviews and especially for the fried chicken. It was busy when we entered the restaurant but found a table along the wall in between the booths which were all occupied. The restaurant was full for a Wednesday with families, couples, and folks sitting at the bar. Nice feeling and energy when you walk in especially when very soon after we sat we were greeted by Cammie a very friendly and attentive server. We were there for the fried chicken and they offer you many ways to order between the number of pieces and whether you want dark or white meat as they cook them in pieces. Sis ordered a 2 pc with 2 sides, I ordered a 3 piece with 2 sides. We also ordered an app of peel & eat shrimp to be served warm along with a couple of glasses of wine. The P&E shrimp came out first in a basket seasoned with an 'old Bay' like seasoning, served warm, and were fantastic. The seasoning was just right and shells were easy to remove and the shrimp were crispy, tasty, and delicious. Our fried chicken came out soon after and we were not disappointed. I used to enjoy fried chicken at Phillips Crab House in Ocean City, MD but they closed their signature restaurant a few years back. Finding authentic fried chicken since has been trial and error. I will admit, this is some of the best fried chicken I have ever had! Delivered hot, steaming, crunchy on the outside and so tasty on the inside, Sis and I were totally enjoying our chicken and our sides. Mac/Cheese was perfect as were the green beans. Sweet potato fries were served cold at first but our waitress Cammie brought us a fresh hot batch of sweet potato fries right away. We ended up bringing 2 pieces of chicken home and I will have one for lunch today! Hope you enjoy as much as we did. Check for their daily specials. We will be back for sure!

Stopped by on my way to Amelia Island, drawn by the rave reviews of their shrimp bucket and fried chicken. The shrimp were the freshest I had my entire trip and their fried chicken buckets were definitely generous and seasoned very well. I was also a fan of their crab boil, which also tasted very fresh, but I think I opened the boil bag a bit too late and overcooked the crawfish. The crab and artichoke dip was fine but wouldn't reorder. Service was very friendly. As per its name, it is "hidden" -- loop around behind the circle K to find it.

Fantastic fried shrimp! Okra was great too. Oh and COLD beer. Service was also solid. Parking lot? That one is rough LOL.

All you can eat crab legs, fried shrimp, fries, fresh drawn butter

The all you can eat crab legs on Wednesday night is amazing! The crab was fresh and you didn't have to ask for another order. The servers were right there asking if you wanted more. The shrimp was delicious, too. Great value for the price!

Above and Beyond: The Best Birthday Party at Chick-fil-A SR200!…read more I rarely write reviews, but the team at the Chick-fil-A on SR200 (Amelia Island/Yulee) deserves massive recognition. They went so far above and beyond to make my 4-year-old's birthday party truly unforgettable. The experience started with Matt, the store manager, who was an absolute star. Matt personally facilitated us having the party right in their dining area, and from the moment our friends and family walked in, we felt completely welcomed and celebrated. He really takes ownership and pride in making sure the community has a great experience. The party itself was a massive success! The kids had the time of their lives burning off all that Chick-fil-A and cake energy in the play area, running, jumping, and sliding to their hearts' content. Of course, the highlight for everyone was the Chick-fil-A Cow making an appearance to take photos with all the excited kids! Beyond Matt, the entire store team was helpful, kind, and genuinely excited for our son. They even took the time to get and sign a birthday card for him, which was such an unexpected and thoughtful touch. It's clear this Chick-fil-A location--from Matt down to the newest team member--truly cares about the Yulee community. This store is a local gem, and we'll definitely be back often! Thank you for the memories!

We haven't been to Pogo's since they revamped the menu. We liked the food in prior years, but the…read moremenu was sort of scattershot. Now it's clearly Italian, leaning modern. The decor really hasn't changed; it's still one of the nicest rooms on the island. We showed up with three bottles of wine from deep in our cellar, and they handled them well. I offered to cork the 2015 Chablis, as I was a little unsure about the cork stability, and they were fine with that. (By the by, the wine was fine; absolutely wonderful, in fact). Our party of 7 ordered across the menu; the burrata starter (with an extra order of focaccia, as suggested by the server), the meatballs, the suppli, and 1/2 dozen of the east coast oysters. The oysters were great; small, shallow cup, briny and fresh. The suppli were small, but cut into bite size portions, we shared them around, and the taste was all there. The meatballs were slightly smaller than we thought they'd be, but they were meaty, juicy, and came in a ragu that perfectly complemented them. The burrata was the star of the show; fresh, milky, and accompanied with diced tomatoes, onions and strawberries. We were in luck with out entrees; they had their burger on the menu. The burger is made from scraps of their Waygu steak. It was served on a toasted brioche bun with melted cheese, house burger sauce, and house made pickles. The fries were delivered extra crispy, as I requested. It was one of the best burgers I've ever had. Truly spectacular. The pastas really shone; the lobster ravioli were wonderful (though the portion was a little smaller than we thought is should be) with thin hand stuffed pasta and plentiful lobster filling; the pasta carbonara was wonderful (and prepared with guanciale, as it should be), and the English pea and mint agnolotti was a vegetarian's dream. The smoked chicken lasagna was a huge portion served in a cast iron coquette; I seem to recall it from the old menu, and it was as good as always. We were all stuffed after our feast, but we still had room to share some of the mini cannolis. They were made à la minute; no mushy pastry shell here. First class dessert Service was good, pricing was reasonable, and the atmosphere was lovely; highly recommended for modern Italian on Amelia Island.

Cassidy took incredible care of us, Chef Alan was so thoughtful, and every single thing we ordered made us pause mid-bite. But what made the night unforgettable was the hospitality.
