First I want to say we walked in on Christmas eve. 30 minutes before they closed. We asked the server what was fast so she could go home. She said don't worry, we are busy so we will be here a while. I heard the wings are great here so that is what I had. They were cooked perfectly and had plenty of sauce. I would she the wings are great. Our server was very attentive and did not push us to leave. ( we did get out as quickly as possible but they were still busy.). This place has been hiding behind a gas station a long time. Glad we stopped.

The bad: Place needs a deep cleaning. Drinks are weak and overpriced. $11 and $11.50. The good: Fried chicken and crab cakes are outstanding and fairly priced. Servers are nice.

30 fried shrimp dinner with coleslaw and collard greens

My wife and I spent a week in Amelia Island and after reading some reviews, we made the trek over to the Yulee area to try The Hidden Crab - we were not disappointed. It's true that the parking is a bit of a rubix cube, but if you come early enough it won't be an issue. My wife had a two piece fried chicken dinner (breast and leg) with mashed potatoes w/gravy and green beans while I had the 30 shrimp plate with coleslaw and collard greens. Both meals were delicious, so much so that we came back a second time later that week. Sweet tea was good and had no issues with the service. When looking over the cost of the meals, we felt we'd stepped into an establishment pre-covid. $17.99 for 30 fried shrimp (and they're not small) with two sides and a drink? Sign me up. Easily a $27-30 meal on the gulf coast and at other major establishments. We enjoyed our meals at this hidden gem and will return next month!

We placed a To-go order on a busy Saturday night, with the understanding that the atmosphere would be busy. When arriving at the restaurant, we were told that the food wasnt ready and that the message we got was automated. We waited for 45 mins. At one point, the manager stopped to ask what the names were, we told him, he went to the kitchen to find an eta, but returned to say they were working on it. 20 mins later, the when asked the waitress huffed and said the only 2 she had ready were for someone else, but was the orderwe were waiting on. So, the two food orders sat for 45 mins and no one verified the names of the two individuals waiting. Unfortunately, it didnt stop there. When we got food home the burger that was supposed to be medium well was barely cooked, cold in the middle, falling apart and the bun was soggy. In the end a 18$ meal went in the trash because it looked like bacteria sandwich. On top of that, we were missing an item. Over all, a 75$ meal was a waste. Disappointed doesnt begin to cover how gross this experience was.

Visiting family in Fernandina Beach for a few days on my travels back to Naples, FL. Had a craving for fried chicken and discovered The Hidden Crab right here on yelp. Sister, who has lived here for 1 year, said she had not yet been there yet it was less than 5 minutes from her home. I said, let's check it out, good reviews and especially for the fried chicken. It was busy when we entered the restaurant but found a table along the wall in between the booths which were all occupied. The restaurant was full for a Wednesday with families, couples, and folks sitting at the bar. Nice feeling and energy when you walk in especially when very soon after we sat we were greeted by Cammie a very friendly and attentive server. We were there for the fried chicken and they offer you many ways to order between the number of pieces and whether you want dark or white meat as they cook them in pieces. Sis ordered a 2 pc with 2 sides, I ordered a 3 piece with 2 sides. We also ordered an app of peel & eat shrimp to be served warm along with a couple of glasses of wine. The P&E shrimp came out first in a basket seasoned with an 'old Bay' like seasoning, served warm, and were fantastic. The seasoning was just right and shells were easy to remove and the shrimp were crispy, tasty, and delicious. Our fried chicken came out soon after and we were not disappointed. I used to enjoy fried chicken at Phillips Crab House in Ocean City, MD but they closed their signature restaurant a few years back. Finding authentic fried chicken since has been trial and error. I will admit, this is some of the best fried chicken I have ever had! Delivered hot, steaming, crunchy on the outside and so tasty on the inside, Sis and I were totally enjoying our chicken and our sides. Mac/Cheese was perfect as were the green beans. Sweet potato fries were served cold at first but our waitress Cammie brought us a fresh hot batch of sweet potato fries right away. We ended up bringing 2 pieces of chicken home and I will have one for lunch today! Hope you enjoy as much as we did. Check for their daily specials. We will be back for sure!

Stopped by on my way to Amelia Island, drawn by the rave reviews of their shrimp bucket and fried chicken. The shrimp were the freshest I had my entire trip and their fried chicken buckets were definitely generous and seasoned very well. I was also a fan of their crab boil, which also tasted very fresh, but I think I opened the boil bag a bit too late and overcooked the crawfish. The crab and artichoke dip was fine but wouldn't reorder. Service was very friendly. As per its name, it is "hidden" -- loop around behind the circle K to find it.

The decor really hasn't changed; it's still one of the nicest rooms on the island. We showed up with three bottles of wine from deep in our cellar, and they handled them well. I offered to cork the 2015 Chablis, as I was a little unsure about the cork stability, and they were fine with that. (By the by, the wine was fine; absolutely wonderful, in fact). Our party of 7 ordered across the menu; the burrata starter (with an extra order of focaccia, as suggested by the server), the meatballs, the suppli, and 1/2 dozen of the east coast oysters. The oysters were great; small, shallow cup, briny and fresh. The suppli were small, but cut into bite size portions, we shared them around, and the taste was all there. The meatballs were slightly smaller than we thought they'd be, but they were meaty, juicy, and came in a ragu that perfectly complemented them. The burrata was the star of the show; fresh, milky, and accompanied with diced tomatoes, onions and strawberries. We were in luck with out entrees; they had their burger on the menu. The burger is made from scraps of their Waygu steak. It was served on a toasted brioche bun with melted cheese, house burger sauce, and house made pickles. The fries were delivered extra crispy, as I requested. It was one of the best burgers I've ever had. Truly spectacular. The pastas really shone; the lobster ravioli were wonderful (though the portion was a little smaller than we thought is should be) with thin hand stuffed pasta and plentiful lobster filling; the pasta carbonara was wonderful (and prepared with guanciale, as it should be), and the English pea and mint agnolotti was a vegetarian's dream. The smoked chicken lasagna was a huge portion served in a cast iron coquette; I seem to recall it from the old menu, and it was as good as always. We were all stuffed after our feast, but we still had room to share some of the mini cannolis. They were made à la minute; no mushy pastry shell here. First class dessert Service was good, pricing was reasonable, and the atmosphere was lovely; highly recommended for modern Italian on Amelia Island.

We met two friends for dinner to celebrate my upcoming birthday and one of their belated birthdays…read more From the moment we walked in, the service was friendly and attentive, and our server was excellent throughout the night. My wife started with the daily special, a dragonfruit mojito. It was a beautiful purple color, but unfortunately, it looked much better than it tasted. It had almost no sweetness and was honestly pretty bad. Two of us tasted it when our server came back to see if we wanted to order the same thing, and we both immediately declined. Our server took it back and worked some magic to improve it, which we appreciated. My wife eventually switched to a different drink later that was much better. The rest of the table's cocktails were fine, but nothing really stood out. We split the L'Cobb salad as an appetizer, and it was amazing. It was easily one of the highlights of the meal, and both my wife and I agreed we would order it as a meal in the future. For dinner, my wife ordered the Country Captain Salmon and said it was excellent and something she would definitely order again. Both of our friends ordered the filet and complimented the flavor and preparation. I went with the L Burger, and unfortunately, that was the disappointment of the meal for me. The meat was juicy but lacked seasoning, so the burger depended heavily on the bacon jam for flavor. There wasn't enough of it to carry the burger. I asked for some extra to cover the areas that had been missed, and adding more definitely helped, but overall the burger was still just mid. I would try their regular burger next time because I think traditional condiments could have easily taken it from mid to good. The fries, however, were cooked perfectly and lightly salted. We finished by ordering three desserts to share: the pecan pie, peanut butter pie, and crème brûlée cheesecake. The peanut butter pie was delicious, extremely rich, and HUGE. Two people could easily struggle to finish it. The crème brûlée cheesecake was also delicious and was a more average-sized dessert portion. Our friend was disappointed with both the taste and portion size of the pecan pie. Overall, there were definitely some hits and misses with the food and drinks, but the service was excellent. Our server was friendly, attentive, handled the issue with my wife's first cocktail without hesitation, and took great care of us throughout the evening. The L'Cobb salad, salmon, filets, and desserts were the standouts. I would come back, but next time I'd skip the L Burger and try something else on the menu.

I realize restaurants are on a schedule and expect my food to be at a different level. This was not the case here. It was perfect. It is important to note that we came in at 2:30 in the afternoon and were the only customers in the place. Sometimes this means the food would be leftovers from lunch but everything we ate was very fresh. I had the sliced pork. The slices were a quarter inch thick and to big to eat in 1 bite. The pork was fork tender even at that thickness so I did not need a knife. I would say it was THE BEST restaurant sliced pork I have ever had. I asked about a spicy sauce and was told they have something called Big Poppas that stays in the back and she brought me some. It was a really good spicy sauce but not so overwhelming that you couldn't taste the meat. The fries were just fries but they were hit and crispy. I had baked beans. They had really good flavor and chunks of pork mixed in for an added bonus. This was also fresh and hot. My wife had the brisket plate and said the same about her food. She took home more brisket than she ate. It was huge.
