We had walked by this place several times and always said we'd try it soon. Well we finally did... and it did not disappoint. We shared a salad, crab cakes, and filet. Everything was delicious. All staff was friendly. Service was great. If I have any critique, it's that--due to this being a small location--tables are quite close to one another. At least this is the case when sitting inside. We did not see the patio, so cannot speak to that set up. Chairs were not very comfortable either. With all that said, the meal and service still makes this 5/5 for us. read more

Those choosing to dine outside were more casually dressed than those inside. Staff is friendly and efficient. Never had to ask for water glasses to be filled. Chairs are super comfortable. Adequate wine and beer list. No cocktails. Complementary bread and duck confit on toast. Shared a beet salad which was really delicious. I ordered the rack of lamb which was cooked to perfection and served over a bed of lentils and mixed vegetables. Outstanding! My wife had the fish of the day which was very good. I will admit I have high standards when it comes to food. Maybe it was the upbringing from my parents as they are huge boobies or maybe it's because I live in Chicago one of the best culinary destinations in the world. Nevertheless, this was by far the best restaurant that we ate at during our week in Amelia Island. It was so good in fact that we ate there twice within six days. The service was impeccable and you can tell that the staff is very educated on the menu. The inside of the restaurant is a bit lackluster, but they have a wonderful patio outside with heat lamps and lights. We sat outside both times with our dog. While we were there, we tried many different items on the menu. The menu is small, but each dish is prepared with fresh ingredients. We tried the snapper, the red fish, the chicken and the fillet. Again, I come from a steak city, and this fillet was incredibly tender and flavorful. The fish was fresh and had a wonderful sides. The chicken was extremely flavorful and came with perfectly roasted vegetables. We also really enjoyed the market salad, the complementary bread and the butter cake. If you ever find yourself in Amelia Island, this is the restaurant to go to. read more

After discovering that the previous restaurant that occupied the building has closed, I was hesitant to eat at Indigo believing that any other place could live up to the previous business. But I was wrong. Indigo has wonderful food, a good wine list and excellent service. I had the market fish - cooked to perfection. The desserts all looked great but I chose the banana pudding cheesecake. Yum! We were so impressed we made reservations for the next day. Indigo also has a lovely outdoor seating area. I ordered the yellow tail snapper special with shrimp, collards and rice. I enjoyed it. There were two entrees that were not written on the menu. My friend ordered the duck-med rare. It was cooked medium well. Our server didn't ask if it was cooked as ordered. We didn't send it back. I ordered the tuna tartar as an appetizer. It was good but only two toast points were served with it. It needed at least two additional pieces. Prices were too high for the level of service. We felt rushed. Trifecta! Food, service and ambiance are all top notch! We decided to come during Amelia Island Restaurant Week, and tried their prix fixe menu. We had additionally added in the escargot with bone marrow and a wonderful pork belly appetizer. First course choice of Caesar or market salad (both delicious), then a scallop dish and frankly the MOST delicious scallop I've ever had. Perfectly seared with a creamy risotto, I'd go back for that dish alone. Next was the duck breast that was executed beautifully. Dessert was a very tasty warm butter cake with ice cream. We ate here twice over Labor Day weekend. On Friday, we had out of town guests. The food is good, but the service is extremely slow. We love the ambiance of the outdoor patio. They opened on Sunday with a tasting menu so we returned with another group of out of town guests. We had 7 pm reservations. Again, great food, but extremely slow. By 8pm we had only had our first course. It took 2 and a half hours to complete our meal with long lapses between courses. I had to flag down our server to ask where our food was. Had to flag down server to ask for a glass of wine. While the triple tail was some of the best I've ever had, the slow service will make me think twice before returning. Sad... read more

Indigo is a unique dining experience for Amelia Island. The original homestead has a couple dining rooms inside and a pleasant outdoor space in the back of the restaurant. The menu is limited and well appointed. Service staff is attentive and knowledgeable on all menu & drink items. The chef has purposefully designed a select menu with Southern influences entree's. We dined on a delicious Caesar salad made from scratch with an egg & an anchovy. The market fish served was a redfish prepared perfectly coupled with bok choy & rice. I would order the same dish again- it was near perfect. The dessert was a warm butter cake- incredible & memorable. Indigo is truly designed for an upscale dining experience. (Sorry - no fried shrimp & grits) Parking is a challenge on weekends and if you have children would suggest the patio dining versus indoors. read more

It was our anniversary! We made reservations 3 days in advance Unfortunately only 8:30 pm available inside, I didn't want to reserve for outside in case it rained. When we arrived they gave us this little tinny table, other couples were sited at bigger tables. I got a little sad. But when the food arrived, one, after another plate it was a concert of flavors in my palate, The soup, the fish, the duck and never the least, dessert . The outside seating was beautiful and even though it was a chilly night, the heaters provided a warm cozy atmosphere. Even the overhead music was perfect. We really enjoyed having dinner at Indigo for our z28th Wedding Anniversary. We arrived around 7:30 without a reservation and they were able to accommodate the two of us and we chose the back patio with the heated lamps. Very tranquil with a bamboo wall and pergola. The wait staff was wonderful and went out of their way to make our evening extra special with a fantastic dessert that they presented to us on the house. I had the triple tail fish special and my husband had the osso bucco. They also began the meal with an amuse buche of stuffed pepper dew with an herb cheese. We enjoyed everything about the place! Indigo Fernandina occupies the building of a longtime favorite which recently closed - Le Clos. And we heard many of the servers were from another old favorite - Joe's 2nd St Bistro - also now gone. So our expectations were high, but Indigo exceeded them. We sat indoors because it was January, but it was unseasonably warm, and there were many people on the spacious patio outside. The space was cozy, but not crowded. We were seated quickly (we had reservations) and the service was spectacular, thanks to our servers: Caitlyn - a seasoned professional we recognized from Joe's, and Kieran, a young server prodigy. We started with a beet salad, which we split. For dinner, my wife had the salmon with crawfish meunière sauce, and I had the market fish, which was redfish in a light cream sauce. Both entrées came with fresh grilled asparagus, but the salmon came with a potato cake, and my redfish was served on a bed of lightly seasoned rice. Both were delicious! They offer three desserts: warm butter cake, banana pudding, cheesecake, and a chocolate bomb of some sort. Three staffers hinted to us that the warm butter cake was their favorite so we ordered that. It was good coaching. Rich, buttery poundcake with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, drizzled, in caramel, accompanied by a sliced strawberry. Yum! We also had one glass of wine and the bill including tip was about $140. (They offer a good discount if you pay cash) It was worth every penny, and then some. Highly recommend. read more

Some times it's good to be wrong. I was disappointed when I heard that Le Clos, an old fashioned French place, had closed. My husband had to talk me into trying the new place that had taken its place. I entered with apprehension, I left floating in food-induced ecstasy. Have you ever tried escargot on top of a bone split open to expose roasted marrow? Grilled salmon with a crayfish meunière on top that made for some of the best salmon you've ever had? Or a perfectly-textured butter cake with a scoop of caramel-sauced vanilla ice cream on top? Well, if not, here is your chance. Better than Le Clos, perhaps the best eatery on the north side of the island. And yes, the service was top notch and the ambiance pleasant. We were excited to try this new restaurant and we thought it lived up to the great online reviews! It's a very cute setting in an old house. We got the pork belly appetizer and it was excellent. For the mains we got the scallops and fish of the day. My significant other thought the scallop dish was very good and I thought the local fish dish, with the incredible sauce was one of my favorite fish dishes I've ever eaten, it's really good! I'll preface this with, fantastic food. So this review is not a critique of the fare. Where this place takes the L is in service. First, we were a walk in. Inside was booked. We opted then for the rear patio service. It was relatively warm out but we were assured fans were outside to move air. Well there were fans. Like 2 units about 20" & set far enough away from the dining area that they made little impact. Now this would've been fine had service not been at a snails pace. Which doesn't make sense since the place wasn't exactly packed. We were 15 minutes to get 2 of 4 appetizers. Another 5-10 minutes for the other two to make it to the table. Finished those up & we were a solid 30 minutes before entrees. We had no update from the waitress or apologies on the delay. Checks came & sat for another 15 before I had to ask the manager to take them. Another 15 before they got picked up & brought back. So all in all that's 2 hours outside in the heat for service. Not great. What could've been better? Communication. We had no communication from the waitress on delays. And when you're outdoors in the heat, that's not a good look. Would recommend indoor dining only at this location & lots of time on your hands. read more
