I have been coming here for over 20 years and the restaurant was always my favorite, this was the place to bring visitors and family. It's not that place anymore.

My fiance planned a wonderful mountain getaway for us, and lucky for me- we had dinner reservations here. It was so chilly in December, We had a cold mountain day, and we bundled up to go to our dinner reservations and I have to say- I wasn't expecting much when I heard the name "Grill". I was thinking- burgers, fries, your typical post-ski grub. I was wrooong! We strolled into the coziest little restaurant and were greeted by the two lovely people working there. Felt like I very sweet family vibe. They steered us in the directions of the pasta dishes we ordered, and we had the Soup of the Day to start- I believe it was some kind of Tomato bisque and that hit the spot. The Hazelnut pasta was a hit for my fiance, and I loved that he got to try such a classic Oregon flavor in a pasta- how fun. My chanterelle ravioli filled me up so fast, I also loved being able to try chanterelles in this format. Both dishes felt very creative and full of so much Oregon pride! Delicious!

My pizza was $12 and it was more than enough food for me, and it was delicious. The place inside is interesting, tons of stuff on the walls (lots of license plates and signs) great decor. We asked for extra sauce and WOW did they comply! They do not skimp on toppings like most places. You get a wonderful amount of toppings, cheese and their tomato sauce is excellent! And!!! I'm not one for "thin crust" and Zig Zag Inn has THE BEST thick, chewy delicious pizza crust I've ever eaten! And, their pizza sizes are beautifully large ! We were totally amazed and VERY happy customers! The waitress was so wonderful, helpful, knowledgeable, kind and patient with us (we had 2 young children with us). And!!! If you love the mountains like we do, the restaurant is a log cabin located in the forest so enjoy the warm, rustic dining atmosphere! There's an upper level that you can from your table and it's filled with beautiful, old antiques! Well done, Zig Zag Inn!!! Next time we're in the area we will definitely be back! AND, let me also say, it is kept very nice and clean! YES! 5 thumbs up!!!

Zig Zag Inn - Baked chicken dinner was horribly overcooked. Huge chunks in mashed potatoes. Gravy was not even warm.

For mains, my friend ordered the elk burger, and as a self-proclaimed elk burger connoisseur, her approval means something -- she thoroughly enjoyed it. I went with the pulled pork sandwich, which was good and flavorful, and paired really well with their pepper & cabbage coleslaw on the side. We also split a cup of the roasted red pepper and tomato bisque, which was honestly a highlight of the whole meal -- rich, well-balanced, and worth ordering on its own. Drinks deserve a shoutout too: their non-alcoholic options were great. My friend raved about the guava lemonade, and I had the blueberry vinegar shrub, which was excellent -- bright, crisp, and refreshing.

Close enough to PDX hotels to Uber. The food was spectacular. The salads are huge. The ribs looked amazing. The lamb meatloaf was extremely tasty and the chicken pesto fettuccine was able to be made without fettuccine for me with just extra veggies and it was stellar. They did not even balk at substituting the extra veggies.. the swordfish special with the mushroom risotto and grilled asparagus was awesome. Everything was cooked to perfection and our waiter. Torben was the highlight. He had a wonderful, can-do attitude, very accommodating and extremely friendly. He really treated us amazing and his workplace as though restaurant was his taking pride in his job. The desserts that walked by our table made me wish I had only shared a meal with someone. Everything looked incredible. This needs to be put on your top five to try list.

Took a seat at the bar and was greeted promptly. Looked over the menu and decided on the smoked angels envy old fashioned. It was happy hour so I got the half wedge salad. Was not a traditional wedge but was really good. For my main I got the lomo saltado, mole rubbed steak tips with onions, peppers, French fries over rice. Was a wild mix of stuff. Steak pieces were pretty small but full of flavor and the sauce over the whole thing was delicious. Was worried the fries would be soggy but the sauce made them better. Sopped up the sauce with the rice and fries. Amazing. Asked for a margarita to go with the meal, seemed appropriate. Sat at the bar so service was good, kept water full and checked in repeatedly Was a great time and great food

It's a beautiful restaurant, we had a large party seated by the window, and our server was SO fun. Everyone was incredibly sweet, and the service was perfect. It was also close to my birthday, and they ended up singing to me twice because our server didn't know the first time! They even brought me a complimentary cake, so it made for such a fun memory. Food-wise, the burrata needed a little more balsamic, but the empanadas were a 10/10, the sauces were amazing, and I loved the fried grit fritters and bread. The drinks were also SO good. Our entire group became obsessed with the Coco No Loco and kept ordering them all night! Unfortunately, my steak was where they lost the star. It was SO tough and honestly difficult to chew. The flavor was also spicier than I expected, but that part is on me! I think they may have just had an off night with the steak, because everything else was incredible. I'd absolutely come back, I'd just order something other than steak next time. 4/5!
