Our group of four stayed in Chalet 13 from June 24-27 while attending a wedding at Mt. Hood. The first part of our stay was great. We loved the beautiful grounds, and the chalet was comfortable and exactly what we were hoping for. Unfortunately, around 1:00 a.m. on the second to last night of our stay, we returned from the wedding festivities to find that the entire chalet smelled overwhelmingly of sewage. The odor was present throughout all three floors and became stronger with each level. It was so intense that several of us were gagging and even became physically sick. We attempted to book a room at the nearest hotel but they were fully booked, leaving us with no choice but to stay. We opened every window in the chalet and had to leave them open for the remainder of our stay because the smell was otherwise unbearable. We made every effort to report the issue while it was happening. That night, we called the resort's emergency after hours hotline but never received a return call or any follow up. Upon checking out on the final day, I reported the situation again to the staff member at the front desk. He was incredibly kind, apologetic, and assured me the situation was unacceptable. He explained that the manager, Dan, would contact me and that a partial refund would likely be appropriate given the circumstances. After several days passed without any communication, I reached out to the resort myself. I was told that maintenance had inspected the chalet, along with neighboring units, and could not detect any unusual odor. While I appreciate that they took the concern seriously enough to inspect the property, this was very surprising given that all four of us experienced the smell, and it was severe enough that we were becoming physically ill. I was again told that Dan would contact me, but as of writing this review, I still have not received any phone call or email. It's disappointing because, aside from this issue, our stay would have easily earned five stars. I understand that unexpected maintenance problems can happen and I don't fault the resort for an issue that may have been outside their immediate control. What disappointed me most was the lack of follow through after we were assured someone would reach out. Good customer service isn't just responding in the moment--it's also following through on the commitments made afterward. I genuinely hope the source of the odor has been identified and resolved, as it's a beautiful property and I'd love to recommend it. However, I also hope future guests experiencing an issue like this receive the communication and resolution that we unfortunately never did. read more

This was a pleasant place to sleep- but the parking situation was incredibly frustrating. There is not enough parking- we had to either park clear across the property or risk parking in front of the garage. The lack of 2 nd car parking is surprising since the place clearly holds more than 1 car of people. The building was nice and reasonably clean, if difficult to make baby safe. Location is good in government camp. We did not have a dog but seemed incredibly dog friendly. Check in took a long time - we waited in the clubhouse. read more

We were staying at room 203 in the southern lodge the place was fairly clean and everything seemed pretty good. The first problem we ran into was how the fire alarm in our room would not stop going of. We had to manually remove it and throw it into a closet cause it was waking us up. Second issue was not to bad of a resort issue but personal experience was the people above us we could hear every step and they seemed to run around a lot and were extremely loud. Now the main issue we had that we were very mad about that gave the 3 star review was the wifi. The wifi here was probably the worst ive ever had me and my family were barely able to access the internet at all and we had to strictly use cellular data or it wouldnt work. The tv's had a lot of issues with them being hard to navigate, buffering, and not being able to load certain applications due to the internet. I will say that we have stayed in a condominium here before and it was very pleasent but the experience for the south lodge was very bad. And last thing to mention was the parking spaces were not very good for the amount of people here. read more

Golden Poles #208 is a short walk from tubing with a handy conveyor. Skiing is just across the road. Staying indoors is also a huge temptation because it is so cozy and clean. ​ The good: Place is spacious and clean What is lacking: Upon arrival we encountered 3 broken chairs and a seriously unusable kitchen. We don't have a coffeemaker, enough plates or cups for each person (we are 6 in our group). There are other items broken/non functional. BUT- a chair, a cup and a plate per person (!!) I count as the bare minimum lodging should provide. Further, after contacting Vacasa promptly (within 2 hours of arrival) via text and providing them the requested pictures AND calling them and being on hold for 20 minutes, non of the items have been addressed of fixed in the 2 days! I get random texts back from AI (is my guess) . Example at 12.21 AM " Thank you for the pictures" and "they already have sent that over to the local manager". Non of the issues have been addresses or fixed. We stayed in many different places in the US and Europe. Sometimes things are not quite as clean as one hopes, or something is missing or broken. Then you voice it and it usually is being addressed. This is a new experience in that there is literally no response or attempt from Vacasa to correct the not so minor issues! Oh, and if they promise to make things right with refunding you a day's worth, don't feel better, because they haven't followed through with that either! We stayed in unit 6 at the Grand Lodges. It was really nice and comfortable. They were accommodating when we had to stay an extra day due to the major storm Christmas week 2022. We were very grateful for that. We brought plenty of food and we cooked almost every meal. The kitchen was well equipped with cooking supplies, although they need to replace the Teflon frying pans. The living room was comfortable and had plenty of seating for the seven of us. The TVs are a little dated and the king bed could have been more comfortable. My kids enjoyed the pool and hot tub at the clubhouse. There were plenty of board games to play. Walking to the stores and Ski Bowl is probably easier in better weather conditions. The rooms and bathrooms were spacious. If they added grab bars in the bathrooms, the whole place would be ADA compliant. Overall, very nice place and I highly recommend staying here. read more

Staff is EXTREMELY rude! I called and requested to cancel my booking because a couple of my family members got sick with Covid and they wouldn't even give us a refund! I even asked for a partial refund since it was last minute and they just kept repeating how they have a "strict cancellation policy" If I could give zero stars I would! We spent almost 1k for this trip and I explained to them that it wasn't fair for them to not refund even partial and they were such jerks! Just kept saying "I'm sorry you feel that way" These people are SO SELFISH!! Kept telling me about how I should've bought insurance for $150 and didn't even care to make an exception! I asked "do you want me to come there with my sick family?" And the manager said "of course I don't" but then wouldn't give me my money back?? At least half??? These people only care about money!!! Not our best trip but we appreciate the proximity of this property to Skibowl, Summit Pass, Snow Bunny, and Timberline. The property is within walking distance to Govy's general store and some great restaurants. Pros: unit was nicely decorated and had enough seating for our group of 5 adults, 1 infant. The beds in the bedrooms were comfortable. However, the lower bunk bed mattress is HORRIBLE and the hide a bed is unusable; a note written and left under the couch cushion warns guests not to use due to being broken. Cons: We received a text in the late morning asking if we would be arriving before 5 or after 5, let them know before (check-in is at 4 and they had already let us know no early check in is allowed).. Upon checking in at 4 we were told the room was not ready and no estimated time could be given but that we would receive a text shortly letting us know when it was. We went and had a nice dinner, came back and the office still couldn't provide an estimated time. Traveling with an infant who was tired of sitting, this made for a really long day.. Next morning we woke up and the downstairs was freezing. After some investigating turns out kitchen window had been cracked open (either by previous guests or housekeeping). The cable tv works 50/50, it kept giving off an occasional error message no connection found. We made the best of it and played games. read more

I had to be at Timberline Lodge for a wedding this past Sunday. Instead of paying some ridiculous amount of money to stay at Timberline, you can have all the benefits of the area by staying at Collins Lake Resort. The condo we stayed in was awesome. It was clean, decorated in a ski theme with old school skis and sleds and pics of Mt. Hood. It's nice to have had access to games from the rental office - and the pool and hot tub, which were really close to our unit. The garage that held 2 cars was super handy too. We even had 3 couples stay in this 3 BR and we felt like we had enough room to spread out a bit. OK, we like each other a lot, so that probably helped. HA. The resort itself has so many cute little restaurants within a nice walk or quick drive. It's also really close to Ski Bowl, where you can mountain bike and take a sled like thing to go down a super long slide - kinda like a luge, but not. Like I've already stated, it's really close to Timberline so you can get great views of Mt. Hood and go one of the trails. I'd stay at Collins again. Next time, I'll have to come with my snowboard. read more

We came up here during the perfect time; first week of March and right when it started to snow for a week straight. The place is extremely easy to find and located close to their "town". The discounts you get from their Gold VIP card is fantastic. They respond faster to emails than to phone calls, and (depending on the person working the front desk) doesn't seem to know much regarding any questions about the surrounding resorts/lifts. The condo we stayed in was clean and well equipped. We weren't given a garage opener tho so that was kind of a nuisance having to get out every time to shut the garage and come out the front door. The pool and jacuzzi are great after a day on the slopes. Well kept community. Definitely coming back here again! read more

Location, location, location! This place is in a really good location in the heart of Govy Camp, so just park your car for the weekend and walk everywhere in town. Also to note on the location, is make sure you know where you want to rent, too close to the pool you get noise from kids during the day, and drunks at night. Too close to HWY 26 and the Jake brakes from the trucks will wake you up. Too close to the main office/entrance, and you'll have traffic driving around in circles all day. My only thought is that there should be an 18 an over age after 9pm in the hot tub that's in the woods. read more

I recently had a wonderful stay at the Collins Lake Resort with a few friends this winter. The place we stayed was large and still had a wonderfully cozy cabin-like feel. Our place had a large master bedroom with an adjoining bathroom, as well as two more bedrooms and a second bathroom. The place also included a spacious kitchen, dining room and living room, as well as a BBQ on the deck. There's also free Wi-Fi and a large TV that we used to watch both cable and movies. The Collins Lake Resort is also in an ideal location. It is just a short drive to Skibowl where we enjoyed great skiing as well as an awesome experience at night with their cosmic tubing. It is also just a short walk across the street to Government Camp. We had an amazing stay, and I strongly recommend Collins Lake Resort to anyone looking for a great time at the mountains. read more

Free WiFi in every unit and our unit had the Samsung Smart TV's that allow you to connect to your Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Video profiles. The kitchen was stocked with plenty of cookware to cook almost anything. Also, there was a gas grill on the porch but it was either broken or low on gas so we had to finish cooking in the oven. I recommend stopping at grocery store in Sandy because the surrounding stores are over priced. Some negatives. We couldn't get the thermostat to work right, so our entire stay the unit was uncomfortably hot. Also, the pull out sofa is extremely uncomfortable. I would recommend bringing a blow up mattress instead. read more

I have spent many winter Holidays here trying To find the right condo each time. King bed, private bedrooms, games and better then decent dishes that isn't right next to 26 Traffic. This Holliday there was so much rain we checked out two days early.. no snow for skiing kids were stir crazy . Manager would not even consider or offer refund or apply cost to future visit. We stayed in the Grand Lodge for three nights. The office staff had Covid and was not able to check us in or answer the phone for most of the weekend. While this is understandable in these times, the resort needs a backup plan, especially if it advertises itself as a resort and charges resort prices. When we arrived, our HVAC was blowing warm air and the room was 82 degrees. This was disappointing because it was our wedding weekend, and with all the logistics we were balancing, the hotel was the last thing we wanted to have to stress out about while getting married. When maintenance was not able to fix the AC, we were not offered a new room and had to deal with the heat all weekend. Maintenance did bring a portable AC unit, but it was very noisy to sleep with and only covered 1 room. We continued calling the office and after hours line repeatedly and were offered no solutions. At one point I was told that the manager would call back in 10 minutes, but it didn't happen. Aside from the heat debacle, there were several other disappointing aspects of the weekend. I usually expect resorts to be well equipped, but we weren't even given a sponge to wash dishes with. Bathrooms had 1 small piece of soap to be shared between sink and shower. Last, there was a power outage on Monday throughout the whole town, and it would appear that the Grand Lodge has no generator. Even the exit signs were off. Along with several other guests, we stumbled into the pitch black parking garage to leave the hotel with our phone flashlights on, only to find that maintenance still hadn't arrived to manually open the parking garage door. Talk about feeling trapped! While we were refunded a small amount of our stay in the end, it was nothing compared to stressing out when we just wanted a peaceful and romantic wedding night spot after the big day. To top it off, we were told the manager would call us at 9am this morning, but it still hasn't happened. Unbelievable. read more

Collins Lake Resort is our go to place for staying at Government Camp. Their rooms are really nice, staff is attentive, and it's very comfortable. Our kids love the condos too and ask to stay there. Only reason for 4 stars is that it is a little too expensive in general. I understand that it is really luxurious and that costs money but price is pushing it. read more

We booked our winter ski condo at Collins Lake via VBRO, and the overall process was pretty easy. The location is great for not being a ski in ski out unit - you can easily walk to a few restaurants, liquor store, shops. The Mt. Hood Ski Bowl is literally across the highway. Timberline, Meadows, etc. are all within a 30 minute drive or less away. The community amenities were also quite nice, with 2 communal hot tubs (the one out back in the middle of the trees was spectacular), a pool, a sauna, and community room w/ fireplace. Our unit itself was very nice and clean. However, I will note that the buildings do not seem to be high quality or possibly not insulated well - we were able to hear our neighbors pretty clearly whenever they entered or exited to the point we thought that someone was coming into our condo! But given it was just a vacation rental, it wasn't a bit deal to us. read more

We stayed here with our race team the night before the Hood to Coast Relay. Given that there was plenty of room for 6 of us in each 3rd floor, 3-bedroom condo (and we were the only couple) they are plenty spacious. The rooms are big, the views of Mt. Hood awesome and the fixtures in the condos all new. I did not have time to go to the hot tub, so can't comment on that. The only noise I was really aware of was the logging trucks coming past in the morning. Nice place overall. read more

Def the nicest place I've seen in Govy. Was there recently with a ski racing team. Pros - Walk to town. Nice pool, spa, sauna, and shared pool / community house with kitchen. Great for groups needing multiple units near each other. Concierge desk for those renting through Collins Lake Resort....shipped my skis out for me. Large garage below. Cons - Some views off the deck are really bad like construction zones where construction was stopped way before the recession. Ask for a unit overlooking the stream. Units had poor ventilation with bedroom doors closed. Middle bedroom in my unit had no windows at all! Some units were dated. Generally quiet but, with all of the kids roaming there in the summer, not as quiet as a private house or some other location outside of town. read more

What an overpriced miss this turned out to be. Where to begin... Should I start with the garbage left in the condo for us to clean up? How about the single coffee filter available for our use? Maybe the adolescents screaming and shooting off fireworks until eleven... in a super-dry July? I guess I could be upset that two of the bathrooms had half consumed (i.e. used by somebody else) toiletries... But I suppose that the gift voucher that we were presented with that is applicable on our next visit is supposed to take the sting out of having to shell out a few hundred bucks to stay a couple nights in a cramped, over-furnished nightmare of a condo that didn't really even allow for us to place our luggage anywhere indoors. My overall impressions can be summed up by: overfurnished, dirty and pretty well misrepresented, all topped off with saccharine sweet apologies and assurances that this NEVER happens, with a sprinkling of reasons why these things may happen from time to time. There is no excuse for leaving guests with dishes in this condition, put away in cupboards and allegedly ready for use. I'm actually wondering if the State Heath Department does any type of certification of rental properties of this type. Thanks to the Collins Lake staff for the gift certificate, but that isn't quite motivation enough for us to come back and give you the opportunity to throw unwanted hassles into our time off. While I don't feel that "you couldn't pay me to stay another night" quite describes my feelings about this; I can say that you would need to shell out a very tidy sum to coerce me into another night in that mess. (We gave away the voucher. Again, a discount is not enough to make us even consider giving up another weekend on the gamble that we might have a better experience.) read more

What a great experience! We will definitely be back! Pros:The condo that we had was warm and welcoming. The staff are very helpful and friendly. The outside deck was beautiful! The snow tube hill was great for the kids! Con:We attempted to go to the hot tub and sauna one night in 23 degree weather which was a mistake because it was soooooo packed. We got a spot in the hot tub, but it got to packed so we tried to go to the sauna which was packed full of people too. So we ended up going back to the condo freezing. Came up here for Thanksgiving break to visit my son in college and explore Mt. Hood. This place was so beautiful! Individually owned so every unit is decorated differently but both units we reserved were gorgeous- in particular the one we slept in. Building B #9. Felt like home with full amenities including a towel warmer!! We cooked in the kitchen (filled with real silverware and nice dishes for a large party)all meals except Thanksgiving. We didn't use the pool but it was clean and had a cute indoor community lounge area with game tables . There is an spa in the middle of the woods and creek flowing in our back balcony view. Upon exploring there is a clearly marked little trail that meanders through the woods over bridges and around Lake Collins with historical markers (if you are into that) . Unfortunately I lost all my beautiful photos as my phone was stolen . I highly recommend this place and is just a short 10-15 drive up to Timberline lodge area. I hope to come back in the summer to check out the hikes !! read more

We've stayed at the condos and at the Grand Lodges six times now, all during the Summer for ski race camps at Timberline. The condos are nice with everything you need and the kids love the pool. Each condo is owned by a different owner, so no two are alike and some are more updated/nicer than others. Also nice are all of the trails in the surrounding area. The four stars are due to pricing and lack of flexibility. Their prices are high. Their cancellation and change policies are terrible. You lose $100 if you make any change to your reservation once you have made it (adding or removing a night, for example) if you make the change 30 or more days in advance. This is even if your unit is free or if you give them lots of notice. You lose everything if you make a change within the 30 day period, even if they find someone else to book your condo. Harsh. Since they book out even before some of the ski camp dates are set, you have to guess at what dates you might be there, so the lack of flexibility makes it an even more expensive stay. Another negative is the lack of AC in the condos (there is AC, but only in the Grand Lodges). It can get really hot and uncomfortable some nights during the Summer. read more

There are some nice condos in this complex. I've stayed here for the last seven summers. The three stars is for the on site management. They are real nice until you have a problem. Last summer they only had one fan for our unit and would not accommodate us with another. Their internet is not very good. Their pricing is higher than other management companies for the same property. Summer of 2018 I rented from Vacasa in the same complex. Vacasa local manager delivered two new fans to our rental and allowed us to check in early. Their pricing was also cheaper. read more

Stayed with some friends in a 3 bedroom lodge condo. Absolutely perfect! All we needed to bring was food. Located with-in walking distance of Skibowl and ships and cafes if is a perfect place for a snow fun weekend. The Huckleberry Inn cafe is open 24hrs. Government Camp was the coolest little town with excellent restaurants. And of course the ever present view of Mt. Hood was spectacular. Stayed at the South Lodge. Sevice was top notch. The only thing that was not great was the reception in one of our friends rooms (who watches TV at Mt. Hood) and after one phone call they had someone up quickly and the problem was solved. Facilty is great and I would recommend it to all. Had a wonderful stay here with my family. We stayed sun-wends which was wonderful cause we basically had the place to ourselves! Kids enjoyed the game room in our condo. Hike around the resort was great, walk to all the food was convenient everyone we in countered was so nice! We also went to the adventure park and trillium lake! We had a blast!
