This is a really cool dive/ piano bar with karaoke and (gasp) meat bingo once a month. They have live music couple days a week. The cocktails are strong and cheap. The bartender and the regulars are very friendly. It is a very old establishment and though they don't allow smoking inside, it still smells of old cigarettes. It was not off putting, just a detail adding to its quaintness and character. They allow leashed pets on the porch. As the name suggests it is tucked away in a residential neighborhood. I will definitely be back for a low key evening with good drinks and great ambience.

What a fun dive bar. I've been here just for a cocktail and I've been here for a couple of their fun events. They've hosted two events that I've attended. One being, Meat Bingo. Yes, MEAT. It was a typical bingo game, but instead of winning money, you won various meat packages from Kenrick Meat Shop. I Bingo'd and won a cut-up chicken for frying. My friend won a couple pounds of boneless chicken breast. Cash is good, but so is MEAT. The other event I attended was a Wine and Pizza Pairing. The pizza was TJ Pizza and a local liquor vendor who spoke of the wines he paired to the various wines. It was a fun event. I was surprised at how flavorful the frozen pizzas were. Next time someone is selling TJ Pizza, I will consider buying one. On the other hand, the wine paired with the pizza was totally impressive. So impressive, that I bought a case of the one of the featured wines. They offered single bottles or a full case for purchase. Got a price break for the full case, so others in my group liked the same wine, so went for the case. Holiday gifts at a savings. Staff, owners and other patrons are all friendly. This has to be the best dive bar in STL. Will I return? - Yes, Meat Bingo is a monthly event. When: It's a dive bar, can't share that information now. Why: Need an escape.

What a great place for Sunday Funday!! $12 domestic buckets and a $5 Bloody Mary Bar inclusive of blue cheese olives, bacon, pepperoni, fresh mozzarella, pickles, mini grilled cheese & more; totally worth the $5!! $2, 16 oz Bush $1 off Jameson and a free nacho bar, what?! NFL ticket, TV's everywhere and super nice bartender. What more do you need?!

The minute that you set foot in The Hideaway, you'll swear that you just stepped out of your time machine set to the 1940s. Frank Sinatra music rules this place, the divey décor is right out of a Bonnie and Clyde movie, and half the patrons are still partying like it's 1945 (although now around 85 years old). It all adds to the experience! I go to the Hideaway when I want to drink whisky sours out of giant brandy glasses, participate in boozy sing-a-longs to "You Were Always on My Mind" and "Fly Me to the Moon", do lots of alcohol-induced social cigarette smoking, and socialize with the utmost colorful cast of characters. Mark my words, there's no other place like The Hideaway!

Under new ownership as of 7/8/16. Definitely a non smoking establishment inside. Outdoor seating is an option for a smoky treat, and/or a lovely cocktail. Golden Tee, darts, and a juke box are a start to having fun. A very convenient location, just a block east of Hampton. The owners Sam and Gracie are very down to earth people who want to have as much fun as the people they are serving. Definitely worth a stop by for the locals and others whom did not previously enjoy their past experience.

Dive bars for life! We stopped in late on my birthday to witness the phenomonen that is The Hide Away. This place reminds of me a tiny slice of The Dresden in LA. A corner with hipsters, a table of middle-aged mountain lions, red shag-carpeted bar, a diverse crowd. It is the place that time forgot, and that is just fantastic. We met a charming couple celebrating their 65th wedding anniversary. And yes, they danced together on the 10x10 dance floor to a Johnny Cash ditty. The live piano/guitar duo that night was charming as it was enjoyable. They played request after request. Danced to Sinatra. Surprisingly, the lead singer/piano player did not know who Kesha was. The owner shook our hands on the way out and thanked us for coming. Drinks are cheap. If it weren't for coming home with a sore throat due to breathing in a carton of cigarette smoke, I would go back every weekend. Warning: Don't swim in the fountain inside the front doors.

Nick's stays open until 0100, so we had plenty of time to not force the kitchen staff to rush. A neat corner pub on the edge of Dogtown. There were only a few patrons there, the staff were helpful and friendly. The walls are decorated with sports paraphernalia. The sign on the wall says they have karaoke on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Outdoor patio seating available, along with a game room. Started off with an order of toasted ravioli - beef. Great flavor. I opted for the cheese quesadilla off the appetizer menu with the added chicken. It was packed with chicken. Made for a great meal. The other option at the table was a burger with chips. Thumbs up all round. They have coke products an added bonus for those of us who do not drink. Coke is the only soda option, IMO. The food was good and worth a visit. I was there in an off night after 9:00, so cannot speak to the crowd or noise level.

But everything was hot and service was decent, even though the bartender seemed to keep forgetting us a bit. My only complaint was that the smoke from the outdoor side drifts in so there is always a bit of cigarette smoke in the air and could be a touch warmer as well, but we would go back again.
