However, I can't imagine peak season when there would be more boats on the lake - it's a nice distance to kayak, but as soon as others are on the lake it doesn't feel very bit. While we were out, there was a very irresponsible boater who essentially circled us at a high speed and sent our kayaks wild when the waves converged. Luckily we are experienced and didn't tip and find ourselves swimming in the lake - but that boater was truly a jerk. So, if you're looking to rent a place for a week - my recommendation is going in the off-season and keep an eye out for bad speed boaters. :)

The house was listed as "on the pond" but we couldn't make our way to it because there was knee high grass, not to mention a racoon that chased me from the back of the house to the front. Once we went inside and tried to turn on the lights and AC's we noticed that some of the lights didn't turn on and that the ceiling fan wasn't working. It was extremely hot in the living room so I began to open the windows only to find out that two out of the four windows were broken. Because two windows were broken and we wanted to cool down the house before our guest got there I attempted to open the screened doors but ALL of the screens were broken not allowing us to leave the doors open because bugs would get in. I always, always inspect my rental homes. When I'm entering and existing. The more I inspected the home, the more things I found wrong. I decided to take pictures and forward them to the rental office so I wouldn't be held liable and to ensure that my deposit would be fully refunded. My boyfriend did his best to repair the screen on the main level door so we can enjoy as best we could the back deck, which by the way was absolutely disgusting. We swept, wiped off the plastic patio furniture and put table clothes on the tables. In the morning I got an email from Bill Culley that said, "I have Christy on the way now". No apologies, no nothing. I was awaken by guess who?! Yup! Christy! She was on the patio cleaning the furniture I had already cleaned the day before. Which is exactly what I told her. Picture frames were hanging off one nail, broken glass was on the deck, ceiling light fixture was broken, cigarette burns on seat covers, fireplace area was dirty, carpet in the basement was dirty, etc. I wasn't expecting a five star house but I was expecting to walk into a rental house that was clean and ready to enjoy. You've been warned!

All in all, it's a pretty good location - the price was pretty affordable and we had a great view right by the frozen lake. A few tips: 1. The nearest Wal-Mart supercenter is about a half hour away. There's also a strip mall nearby there with a grocery store, liquor store, and a few others. 2. Be sure to take out your trash to the containers! 3. Check out time is at 11 AM 4. Bring your own sheets. You may also need additional blankets depending on the rooms and how many people are staying. 5. The nearest outlets are the Crossings Premium outlets.

My brother in law was walking back to the van so we could head to our next destination when he was stopped by security. Security asked for his id and said he needed to check the tags. Keep in mind this is private community security and not local police. My wife who rented the vrbo we stayed at then got out of the van to try to explain to security that our van was a rental because it seems the reason security was harassing my brother in law was supposedly we needed a permanent community sticker. The guard said the reason why we didnt have a sticker did not matter and he was going to have to write us a citation. My wife gave him the address of vrbo and he claimed there was no way for him to verify we were renting the vrbo. I would also like to mention security was shaking,loud, and agitated from the start. At this time I wll also state that I am a white male, my brother in law is black, and my wife is afro latina. I would love to be able to say it didnt seem racially motivated but the whole situation is very surreal otherwise. My brother in law couldnt stop talking about the fact that this was his first perceived racially charged experience in his thirty year life. The security also seemed like someone who always wanted to be a cop, wasnt able to for whatever reason, and this job was his opportunity to relish some display of power. Im not sure if people should just be aware of security because they are on a power trip or if mixed populations / people of color should avoid this place. Other than the sour experience with security at the end it was a pleasant stay. Pardon poor grammar as i am typing on phone in a car following incident.

We stayed in Room 734 from April 10-13 and paid over $1,000 for what was supposed to be a romantic getaway. Unfortunately, the condition of the room was extremely disappointing. The room was not clean or well maintained. There were stains on the ceiling, soot on the wall above the fireplace, and the door was in terrible condition, dirty on the inside and peeling on the outside. The TV in the bedroom even had a black line going through the picture. The biggest issues were with the pool and tub. The pool jets didn't work, and the ladder had a missing step, which made it difficult and honestly unsafe to get out of the pool. I personally struggled getting out because of this. The "champagne glass" tub also had a yellow stain where the water comes out, which raised serious concerns about cleanliness. We brought these issues to the front desk and were told there were no rooms available to switch to. We were also told a manager would call us to discuss compensation, but we never received a call back. For the amount of money we spent, this experience was unacceptable. I understand that things can go wrong, but the lack of maintenance, cleanliness, and especially customer service is what stood out the most. Very disappointing experience overall.

We didn't get to enjoy the little pond or the scenic areas around it since we got there so late, but the price was good and the room was super clean. It has everything you need for a little get away, and they have larger rooms on site as well. There are a few restaurants and bars around the area if you're hungry or looking for entertainment. When we were checking out the next morning the owner told us about some neat places to eat and visit, and she was just great. If we were passing through town again we would definitely go back for a stay. Cute little spot!
