But the easy trail-still was a great hike. I have a bum foot, so was limited on what I could do. The River Trail was beautiful and had great views. No cell phone or Internet-I thought I would freak, but I found it so relaxing to be able to really get away. I'm a complete email junkie-and I LOVED it. The cabin I was in-Two Bridges was very clean and was decorated beautifully and understated. And in floor heat! Fireplace was dual bedroom and living room and was very easy to work with the included firewood. I really loved it here! And-already planning a trip back!

Jane and her family were very friendly, welcoming, and accommodating upon arrival. They escorted us to our site which was located only a short drive away from the entrance. After making sure we were all set, they left us to enjoy the rest of our weekend. The site itself was spacious and secluded from the other campers within a close walk to the bathroom facilities. The Delaware river was in our backyard and the scenery was picturesque. There was a fire pit and two picnic tables set up for your convenience. The only animals we encountered were friendly Bambi's, fuzzy caterpillar friends, and the usual pesty mosquitoes. There were no Pooh Bears or any of the like which made our stay all the more relaxing. I've done my fair share of camping and I can attest to the fact their bathrooms are super clean for camping standards! The hot showers in their facilities, despite costing a small fortune in quarters ($1.50 for 3 mins) are an added bonus. It became our daily challenge to beat the clock and served as a reminder to "be green". The owners even came to remove our garbage from the site! Prepare to be cut off from civilization and become one with nature (unless you have Verizon or Sprint service. I have AT&T and did not have service until I was a good 5 miles past the camp grounds). All in all, I thoroughly enjoyed my stay there and plan to return. I highly recommend this site to all 'glampers' (glamour campers) and beginners.

The area was so peaceful and relaxing that we decided we weren't ready to leave. The wonderful owners made adding an extra night incredibly easy and accommodating, which we really appreciated. We stayed in Cabin 3, which had two bunk beds and a double bed, and everything was very clean and comfortable. Having a full private bathroom with hot water was a huge plus, along with a fully operable air conditioner and a Roku TV when we wanted to unwind at night. You also have the pond available for swimming, and the entire property has that quiet, laid-back atmosphere that makes you actually feel like you got away from everything. The honor-system general store was another great touch. It was extremely convenient to grab ice, food items, souvenirs, and even old-time candy without having to leave the property. The staff was extremely pleasant and welcoming throughout our stay. And having KC Peppers Bar & Grill right there is a major bonus and definitely one of the highlights of the area. What really makes Lake Wanoka special, though, is everything surrounding it. Within minutes you have incredible local dairies, farms, butchers, delis, and restaurants. Hartler Farms was a must for fresh milk and meat, and Alpine Restaurant & Deli had some of the best beef bacon and Canadian bacon I've ever had. You can spend the day exploring the area, come back with some of the best local meat and dairy you can find, and cook an unbelievable meal right at camp. It really gives you the best combination of camping, comfort, great local food, and peace and quiet. For us, it was well worth the four-plus-hour drive. The fact that we came for the weekend and ended up adding another night probably says it better than anything else could. Peaceful, clean, accommodating, and surrounded by some fantastic local food and farms. We would absolutely come back. Five stars!

The lake has 4 islands and one is where eagles nest, so you will see eagles soaring over the lake. Lots of ducks on the lake and you can fish. There are 2 campgrounds on the lake too! The people are friendly and the water is fresh! Nice farm to table restaurants in the area with 4 on the lake so you can dock your water vessel and dine!

The entire lake encompasses 52 miles of shoreline, 5,700 acres, and is 13 miles long. If you're interested in a boat tour, they have them available and we saw many on the lake. The trail will take you through various types of terrain, but they're all enjoyable and full of sites to see. As you're making your way through the tree filled section of the trail, don't forget to look for the geocaches that are hidden throughout. It is fun to hunt and each geocache contains cool items.

For a week in the off-season it was both relaxing and beautiful and still kind of overpriced to…read morerent from a homeowner via AirBnb. We enjoyed the outdoors, and for a bit had the lake to ourselves. However, I can't imagine peak season when there would be more boats on the lake - it's a nice distance to kayak, but as soon as others are on the lake it doesn't feel very bit. While we were out, there was a very irresponsible boater who essentially circled us at a high speed and sent our kayaks wild when the waves converged. Luckily we are experienced and didn't tip and find ourselves swimming in the lake - but that boater was truly a jerk. So, if you're looking to rent a place for a week - my recommendation is going in the off-season and keep an eye out for bad speed boaters. :)

Considering how expensive it was, did nickel and dime $10 for wood that cost them nothing is kinda sad! They should absolutely include a bundle of wood for that. They also told us that you cannot bring your own wood or you could receive a fine, their wood is overpriced at 10$/bundle. The tent itself was very nice. You could open it up to a view of the woods, although through the plastic it wasn't exactly like a glass window. It came with air-conditioning and a little firewood heater for inside. They also had a sauna on property which was nice to have. But again, you had to buy wood and get the fire going yourself, then let it heat up for a while in order to enjoy it. They had some other small things on the property, small game room that we didn't use, some kids activities and what not. Not even a three minute drive away was a very cool lake that we were able to rent a small motorboat and also went swimming later on by a beach area. One thing that absolutely freaked us out is the first night we had both a mother and cub Bear come to our campsite. We absolutely freaked out with this, but according to one of the employees, those bears are there a lot looking for food and they've never hurt anybody. Still kind of freaky to see a full-size bear on your picnic table! We also saw a rattlesnake the next morning at a tent near our but from a distance so no big deal. Finally, we had received an email when we initially booked. The checkout was at 11 then they sent us a text the morning of saying it was at 10 and they actually locked us out Literally a few minutes after 10. So we had to call up and explain what happened and they gave us till 11 AM. Overall, we enjoyed camping there, but they definitely ruined the experience with all the nickel and diming nonsense and forcing you to buy their wood for an extra money grab! Lots of other campsites so I don't know if we would return.

With the…read moreamount of money paid we were really disappointed to not have a view of the woods, but instead of what looks like a storage yard and a maintenance shed which workers used so would walk through our campsite. The site was also flooded around the fire ring the whole stay. We were also surprised and disappointed to have to pay even more to heat up the hot tub, even though there is already a big initial charge to book a tent with a hot tub. So we paid a lot extra for a tent with that amenity, only to arrive and not be able to use it unless we pay even more. The fire wood was also sold at 10$ a bundle, which is a lot more than i have paid in other camp/glamps in the region. Overall it has a trendy vibe with some cool amenities , but we had a realllllly bad view which diminished the experience (especially for the amount of $$$), a flooded camp, and we felt nickel & dimed with the hot tub. Because of this, this was actually my least favorite stay so far in PA.
