The appeal of this lodging is that its old in a nice quaint area of Atlanta. I specifically chose this inn because of this and I could care less of the "bad paint job" and that it "needs updating". It's a 1927 inn, if anyone needs a modern hotel then stay in Downtown :) This inn exceeded my expectation. I absolutely love the feel of this inn, and they have a co-host named Pirate! Such a sweet cat :) I stayed in 346, had a King bed and a clean bathroom. The room is clean and included an A/C, flat screen, mini fridge, and microwave. There is no elevator, and the stairs are quite narrow... which again, didn't surprise me at all. If you're willing to pay at least $125 a night for a room in Atlanta and expecting something modern then stay in Downtown. Otherwise, this inn will suffice and it is in a great neighborhood with plenty of eating places around.

An old creaky inn that had its charm. I though I had made a bad choice as I was walking down the hall on floors that felt like they would fall in. The room was clean, but it had the appeal of a 30's flophouse. However the place grew on me. It is in a nice part of town, close to several coffee shops and a killer barbeque place. There is a small cafe in the hotel that serves breakfast and lunch. I thoroughly enjoyed the breakfast. I would stay there again.

Really enjoyed this place. It's quite charming and they pride themselves on being the only European style hotel in Atlanta. I was on a road trip and needed a place to stay for the night. For the money, it was quite inexpensive. I also enjoyed the small room, the charming and quaint feel of the place, and the overall vibe of the hotel. If you're looking for some over the top 5 star hotel resort or a Marriot, this is not for you. This is a very old-style hotel where they give you a physical room key. I personally prefer places like this but I do get that everyone does have their own preferences so this won't be everyone cup of tea. For what it is, I give this 5 stars and will be back next time I take a road trip to Atlanta.

After driving 13 hours all we wanted to do was check in, get our key, take a shower, and go to bed. If only it was that simple. 1. We arrived! That ends the excitement. Trying to check in was a twenty minute exercise, and not because they were busy (see image). The person working at the counter was sleeping. I don't mean "sleeping" as much as I mean "passed the fuck out". At first we tried knocking on the counter. Next, we tried banging on the window. After that failed.. The following ensued. We began taking the pens from the cup on the counter and throwing them at him. One by one we hit him in the face and chest, repeatedly, until running out of pens. At this point, over two dozen pens were scattered amongst the attendant and the floor. Eventually my girlfriend climbed onto the counter and violently shook the person by the legs until he awoke. Upon his awakening he mumbled " woah, man I'm ready for another drink ". 2. We got a key. I'm still not sure we got the key we were intended to get, but fuck it, at this point we just needed a room. 3. The A/C was as loud and worthless as a hooker in county jail. 4. We decided to shower. This would forever be known as mistake #2 (#1 being staying here). The shower had as much water pressure as an infant peeing on me. It took an hour just to rinse off the soap (not provided) I had lathered on my exhausted body. This was easily the worst showering experience of my adult life. TL;DR drunk employees, random rooms, loud help, horrible showers. Not recommended, ever, ever. The only reason for the 2 stars... My room key worked, and it was surprisingly clean.

    We had a kitchen.

I'm in love--hardcore--with this place! It appeals to the lover of the old and creepy, while being so dang charming at the same time. A hard thing to do, I might add. Even though I'm an Atlanta local, some friends and I decided to rent a place near the Masquerade for the Wizard's Ball that took place at the beginning of December. Yeah, we're a bunch of nerds yadda, yadda, yadda. I used Expedia to book a place, so it was pretty cheap and less than $80. We checked in a little late, around 3pm and 4pm, and that was pretty easy. There's a private lot to the right (when facing the building) that is small and quickly fills up, but hey, it's free. You just tell whoever's out there you have a reservation at the Highland Inn, and they don't give you any problems. When you first enter, you pass a fountain and go up a set of stairs to a small, creaky check-in area. There are still mail slots being utilized to the left of the desk! That was my first hint about how charming this place would be (also, the carpet=old as fug). Sure, you see them in older hotels from time to time, but they're rarely ever actually STILL being used. They have old fashioned keys, instead of keycards, and they our room was situation on that same floor, the furtherest room. The doors are old and wooden, and the room itself was just... Soooo adorable. First off, it was two rooms, which I was really not expecting. The first room was smaller, but had a queen or king sized bed, as well as the bathroom and TV, and a desk and arm chair. The second room had a full sized bed, along with an arm chair, but also a kitchen. The kitchen had a large sink, microwave, mini-fridge, and even a four burner stove! This is definitely the kind of place you could stay a few nights in, and have somewhere to store and cook food (I didn't look to see if there were any dishes, but there's a chance there may have been). I'm glad they haven't attempted to do a heavy haul/renovation of this place a lot (except with the additional of bathrooms in each room), since that's exactly what makes it so unique and charming. But it's also true that you have to be of a certain countenance to appreciate the beautifully old and slightly stale. PROS: It's absolutely THE most charming place. It's near one of my favorite antique places in all of Atlanta--Highland Row Antiques. Great location--near many restaurants, concert halls, and a short drive from interesting Atlanta staples like The Plaza and The Majestic. So spacious! Our two bed place was also a two room place, complete with a kitchen. Within walking distance of The Masq (about 20 minutes), and through a residential neighborhood, so I didn't have to contend with the usual rabble and homeless issue that is rampant in most of midtown. The continental breakfast was very lacking, but had cereal and some muffins. And it's free, so I can't complain much. CONS: Despite the fact that I love the old world charm and I wouldn't want it updated, I think the bathrooms could do with an update. I don't mind that it's a step up, but the toilet and tub are VERY out of date. Parking lot filled up faaaaast. I feel like that definitely needs an extension. THE VERDICT: It's old, charming, and full of history since it originates from the 1920s. Personally, I adore places like this, and it is exceptionally quaint and even sort of mysterious. The hallway creaks when you walk down it, and you can feel how old the place is just by walking to your room. I was giggling madly with delight as I walked there--literally. Mad, delightful laughter. If you can stand that awesome old feel, you also get the benefits of reasonable pricing, an awesome location, and free parking, so if you're of that certain mindset who can appreciate all of this--you'll enjoy yourself. But it's NOT the type of place for someone who is expecting something fancy schmancy, who wants to be waited on hand and foot by a staff who will bend over backwards for them. The staff here keeps to themselves, and lets you do the same. Also, I've heard rumors that it's haunted. So, there's that. :) RECOMMENDED FOR: Someone who appreciates old buildings and old architecture. Students who enjoy adventures, and are open to staying somewhere out-of-the-box. People who will be staying multiple days--request a room with a kitchen and stovetop (these may be the two bedroom rooms).

My husband and I loved our visit to this quirky-cool historic Atlanta hotel. We just stayed one night, on a quick anniversary jaunt to ATL, and it was just what we were looking for. I hate chain hotels. Their rooms are sterile, monotonous, little boxes of boring. The Highland Inn is the opposite! Beyond the gorgeous 1920's front portico, twisty, funky corridors lead to the guest rooms. They are small spaces, perfect for a couple, with vintage crystal doorknobs and Art Deco prints on the walls. Our room was clean and the bed was quite comfy. There was a flat screen tv on the wall, a little closet, a little desk. Simplicity. Yes, there is a step up to get in the bathroom - this is because they didn't have in-room plumbing back in the 20's when the place was built so they had to find a way to give everyone a bathroom - and the corners weren't perfectly square...again it is nearly 100 years old! But to me, that isn't a flaw, this means the place has history and character. Other pluses: It was right off Ponce near the Highlands so it made a great jumping off point for our other activities, it has a big FREE parking lot - just about every other hotel in ATL makes you pay to park - and the room rates are seriously half that of all the big, boring chain hotels nearby. They also serve a free continental breakfast in the morning but it was our anniversary, so we kinda made other plans for breakfast that involved staying in bed... Interesting place and a great value. We will be back for sure.

I love the Highland Inn! As a traveler with a penchant for non-corporate/cookie cutter-style lodging, the Highland Inn stands alone in their level of customer service and care. The hotel was built in 1927, and sure it creaks in places, but that's what I call character! Check-in was smooth, and the clerk gave us some great suggestions on where to dine. The hotel is in one of my favorite neighborhoods in Atlanta. Tons of independent shops and cafes are within a short stroll. I was in town for a show at the EARL, and I appreciated that the hotel was close-by. We found a great little courtyard in the middle of the property, and even found a corn-hole game set! How cool is that? The beds were very comfortable; so comfortable that we missed breakfast in the morning! But its cool, we were able to get our fill at the Majestic nearby. In a day and time where so much lis corporatized, its refreshing to see a place like the Highland Inn! Looking forward to a return visit soon!

This hotel was ok. I understand that the owners intended to retain the old charm of the hotel by not updating the plumbing, but they give me a flat screen tv with not enough water pressure to flush my poop down the toilet. Here's a quick tip: Don't share a room with anyone you wouldn't be comfortable seeing your turds float around in the toilet. I'm giving this place a 3 because I'm sure there's someone out there that would absolutely LOVE this. Don't let me spoil your fun!

This hotel is so cute. Each room is a little different (I got this hotel last minute and they didn't have an availability for my entire stay. So, I stayed two nights in one room then two nights in another. ) The place has lots of charm. Its not a new place and if you like everything perfect, this place isn't for you. But if you like a place that has lots of character this is the place for you. The price just can't be beat for the area. There are plenty of places to walk to from the hotel. The free breakfast is very nice. They offer coin operated washers and dryers that worked great! The laundry area has a nice place to sit and wait for your clothes.

The Highland Inn was by far the best value I've ever had in a hotel, and simply because of that I can give it 5 stars. It was in an excellent, walkable neighborhood while staying cheaper than a Motel 6. While we had a small room, it was clean, had a refrigerator and television, and did the job of giving us a place to sleep. The hotel is old, and you can tell, especially because of things like a lack of elevators. However, you're staying in a place with character, and the few shortcomings are more than made up for by character. Only bummer is that the hotel bar is no longer open, but there is a pretty good bar right next door with plenty of outdoor seating.

Cozy and charming; a B&B experience with the comfort and privacy of a hotel or motel. It's definitely not "new", but is very clean, tidy, and in order. The room was small but not ridiculously so, same with the bathroom, but the tub was deep and the bed was very comfortable. There was a black cat roaming often, and several different places to sit and relax, indoors and outdoors. Washer and dryer as well. The location is also prime; right next door to restaurants, and theres a Publix down the road, as well as bars, etc. The only major issues that we immediately noticed is that it's entirely wheelchair/impaired inaccessible; theres steps at the entrance and no ramp, and no elevator, just stairs, and our bathroom had a step so you had to step up into it. Something to keep in mind if you have mobility issues.

I really enjoyed staying at this hotel.  It's in an old building that many would say needs some updates, but I like the old world charm.  The paint looks old and it has an overall dated feel.  As someone who doesn't spend much time in their hotel on vacation I didn't mind the lack of amenities, it was a comfortable place to sleep.  Small dining area to eat the free continental breakfast with 24/7 access to the area with the microwave (some rooms did no not have one).  Staying here was much less expensive than other areas and it's in a great neighborhood near many things.  The person at the desk was nice and greeted us as we left in the morning and again when we came in at night.  They have a black cat named Pirate who is very sweet.  He followed us around a bit and I convinced him to hang out with me in the sitting room for a while.  They have indoor and outdoor seating areas as well as a ballroom with a bar where they have comedy and music shows. I stayed on the second floor in a room with a double bed and a fridge.  The bathroom was small and had a small shower (no bath tub).  The bed was decent but pillows were quite flat, they gave us enough of them that we were able to stack them to make it work.  There a flat screen on the wall with cable access. Accessibility: There are steps to get into the building and there isn't a ramp or alternative entrance.  They do not have an elevator and the stairs are a bit narrow.  Inside the rooms there is a step into the bathroom and the hallway in my room was narrow.

Exactly the old Deco Hotel experience I wanted cheap! I stayed in my first deco in Miami and loved it so much I wanted to stay in one everywhere. My room was SUPER HUGE! I loved the ambience as it was a quick step over to a delicious BBQ place. The bed was comfy and soft. If you are chain hotel person, you won't like this place but if you choose a spot for ambience then you found the place. The residents of the neighborhood were so friendly to me while I was carrying a bag in, really gentlemanly. The door lock was a deadbolt and very secure, important to me. Like I said, you won't like it of you want chain hotel feel but if you ate a fan of decos or boutique type places, this is it!

I was super excited because I've never been here but have heard nothing less than stellar things and I must say from the time I pulled up to the valet on a Friday at 4:30 in the afternoon, the staff did everything they could to make us feel like we were the only ones in the building. Luckily when I arrived things were fairly calm so getting all settled with the valet service took less than three minutes and he was kind enough to let me know exactly where to go for further assistance after asking me if I knew where I was headed. Starting off with a smile and kindness is always the way to a great experience. Once I made my way inside, I was immediately taken by the grandness of the lobby area and the front desk reception staff member was hilarious and made me feel like royalty even though I wasn't a true guest. I'm just saying, pleasant interactions can go a loooonnngggg way. She called up to my friend's room, walked me to the elevator, asked if I needed any further assistance and told me exactly how to get there. Once I got off the elevator, I fell in love with the calming lavender smell that moved through the hallway and my goodness, this place was just quiet. The room itself was spacious, the bathroom was modern and clean, and the balcony area was a nice retreat to just hang outside and enjoy a nice evening since it wasn't full on stifling GA heat that night. We called to room service several times and it was as though we called and they would just appear with what we needed in a matter of second. Pure magic. We made our way to Bar Margot for apps and drink and enjoyed the DJ for a bit before we made our way back to the room. The service was good. The food was good and they happily validated our parking so that was wonderful. Such an amazing experience here. We usually have stayed over the years in Buckhead and never had a problem. Had the room not been reserved and paid in advance we would have left. The only redeeming quality with personalle was the Bartender at the sky bar!

Beautiful hotel in downtown Atlanta, convenient located for the State Farm Arena. Beds were…read morecomfortable, drinks at the bars were well-priced, room was a bit small and a touch expensive, as was valet parking. Valets were amazing, big shout out the Miguel especially. Nice to get my car in 60 seconds not 20 minutes like a lot of hotel valets do. The rooms definitely need a refresh, mine had cracks on the glass near the shower and the paint on the bathroom door was worn away. This is definitely not a room you want to settle in long term, especially if you need to work from the room. No USB ports and limited electrical outlets near the bed. Little things like this tell me the rooms haven't been updated in the last 20 years. But a gorgeous hotel and fun decor. J.Ja

I really enjoyed my stay at the Glenn Hotel…read more First of all, I love the artsy, royal design of this place. It feels boutique but still polished. Very "I have taste and I know it" energy. The decor has personality without trying too hard. My room was on the smaller side, but it was very well designed. Everything felt intentional, clean, and put together. And the bed? Super comfy. I slept good-good. I also loved that they have a restaurant on site makes it convenient when you don't feel like leaving the hotel. The only downside for me was the parking situation. It wasn't terrible, just not as smooth as I would've liked. Overall though? I'd definitely come back. It's a cute, stylish spot right in the city.

Definitely one of the nicer hotels I've stayed in. I liked the layout of the room. The bed was nice…read moreand plush with a soft comforter and 4 large pillows. Bathroom was clean, modern, and it came with vanity sets (cotton pads and swabs) and a shower cap. There are not many amenities, no pool or spa. They did have a coffee shop, restaurant, and bar. Staff were absolutely professional and very helpful. They were very knowledgeable and kind. They gave my baby a baby lion plush at check in. I loved how they had water and water bottles at the front, so no need to request. There is also a mini fridge in the room that we used to put my baby's milk and things that needed to be refrigerated, inside the fridge there was already mini bar stuff. I let the staff know we used it and did not take anything out of the mini bar which they understood and didn't charge us extra. Room service was quick. Just around 45 min with auto gratuity and $7 delivery fee. Presentation was nice as well. We ordered buffalo wings, fries, with extra ranch, steak quesadillas, and a fruit cobbler with ice cream. All for around $95 delivered. The food was delicious, we ate everything and was pleased. Checkout was great. Quick and easy. They charged the room service to my Amex card which we had $100 credit that was supposed to be applied. I called and they resolved it right away with no hassle. I would definitely stay again since it is steps away from our shop.

This was a miserable experience. Truly miserable customer service…read more It took me over 1 hour to check in and had to argue with multiple managers to get my rom key- even though I had fully prepaid for the room. They finally allowed me to check in but only after I bought a gift card to the Marriot as my "refundable" deposit. (I didn't have $500 in cash on me.) Upon check out, they refused to refund me my deposit because they accused me of consuming items from the mini-bar in the room. (I never took anything from the min-bar...$9 M&Ms, no thank you.) I spoke with the manager who was unable to help. Finally had to call my credit card company to contest the charge. Thankfully, Visa was able to help. The whole experience was a disaster. I will never stay at the Ritz again.

The check-in was very welcoming, uplifting with a smile & I was offered a welcoming glass of champagne The room and bathroom have everything anyone would usually need, plus some nice extras! The Wi-Fi is open so it is extremely easy to login but I'll be curious about the strength once we start our business work day tomorrow. I'm on the 3rd floor, street side of the inn so we'll see about noise tonight.... Note: one of the extras was ear plugs. Ha! Ok I'm back to update the rest of my review now that I'm back home! The hotel itself- I would come back again and again! Yes 5 star The meeting room- 3 star We had to have each presenter sit at the front of the room with their laptop plugged into the HDMI instead of being able to mirror or launch up onto the screen. This wasn't the best experience. And to boot, the hotel tech guy came down and was zero help. Boo! The restaurant- 4 star I personally had the deviled eggs (obviously) they were good, not amazing because they were extremely salty. Yes, they had caviar atop but the salty flavor was in your face BIG! I also had the pork chops, they were a bit dry but the coleslaw on top helped ease the dryness with additional flavor. The rest of the team seemed to have liked their beet salad, fish, short ribs (I heard they were very rich) and chicken. The free coffee in the room is awesome with the kettle although, I got the free coffee in the mini store in the lobby! All the goodies were there, SF syrup, real sugar, fake sugar, creamer, oatmeal creamer. Loved this option and returned fir refills throughout out work day & it was always hot & ready! Another 5 star experience here. Let's get to the overall staff - Callie and Taral - High Five ladies!! The 2 valet guys at the front- awesome work gentlemen!!! So in all- I think a solid 4
