This was my first time at this pub and the environment was chill and the outside seating was nice. I ordered the "Get your roll on shrimp roll" and let me tell you it did not disappoint. This shrimp roll was so DELICIOUS and FRESH and the flavors were so well balanced! This is Perfect on a hot summer day like today. Place is loud!!! Got patio, outdoor seating and indoor. The time we came thru was a trivia night. The music was bumming loud, you seriously can't heard one another. No dance floor with the music playing . I think that is the only lacking aspect of it. Located on a busy street, very few street spots. There is a lot in the back it's just hard and confusing to get to. Make sure not to park in the other business' lot nearby. Be advised they only have a small menu available on the weekend until 2pm due to their brunch. Must go after 2pm to get their speciality burgers. Family friendly bar, saw lots of kids. Was reluctantly greeted when we walked in, awkwardly stood there a few minutes until someone said to sit wherever. Got the Hills burger: basic burger, upcharge for anything other than fries but given the $10 base price it's understandable. Cheese is $1, side salad is $2, you can add bacon/avocado/egg for an extra charge as well. At the end you are looking at around a $15+ burger. Taste was okay, shredded iceberg lettuce was a disappointment, wish it would have been a whole slice. Sautéed onions good. Chipotle sauce was meh, the burger really lacked flavor. (Pepper crust at Islands is much better). Fries were basic, needed salt, but good and crispy. Try one of their speciality burgers instead. Country fried steak- good, recommend. Eggs were perfectly fluffy, English muffin nicely toasted. Lots of fruit given as a side substitute no upcharge. Might be back for another country fried steak in the future and to try their specialty burgers. read more

Lived in La Mesa for years and wish we had come here sooner. Awesome vibe (love the lights), friendly and helpful staff and really good bar food. Indoor and outdoor seating available. We've tried to support The Hills through the pandemic but I don't think we're coming back. They switched from table service to ordering at the bar. In pandemic times, who wants to stand in a line where people are really close to each other, with no one wearing masks? Of the staff, only one is wearing a mask, none of the customers are, and it does not seem they are enforcing mask use. Plus the line to order gets LONG, and the space is much too small to socially distance. The orders take as long to arrive, or even longer than before. But now, nothing comes at the correct time. Appetizers come with mains, but everything takes at least half an hour. We were done with our drinks with the food still not having arrived. But now there is a line of at least 10 people so we don't want to get up and join it just to order more beer. When the food did arrive, it was only the main dishes, the appetizer wasn't even part of it. So we canceled the app. The wait staff did ask if we wanted more beer so we ordered from her. By the time it arrived back tho, the long line was almost done anyway. The one redeeming thing is that the food still tastes good. Because of the paper trays they are served in, the portion sizes do look smaller. I think I can excuse that because costs are probably higher. While we canceled the appetizer, it still came out a full 15 or 20 minutes after our mains. We were actually done eating already. We told the staff that we canceled the order but they decided to comp it because it's cooked already. This is another reason why ordering from the bar sucks, we would have gladly paid for the appetizer we ordered but because it came too late, they ended up comping it. Final straw was they gave my husband the wrong credit card when they came back with the bill. So he had to go in the line AGAIN to find his credit card. When he got to the front of the line, there was another lady who was looking for her card because they gave her the wrong one too! It turns out ALL the credit cards were in a stack and they don't know which card goes to which table. How easy is it to have a box with the table numbers filed inside to keep the credit cards separate? They ended up comping the beers too for the card mix up. How are you earning anything if almost everything is getting comped because of this stupid new system? I really don't think wait time for food became any less, and now all these stupid mistakes are being made that can be directly attributed to ordering from the bar. ‍ read more

I am a returning customer who will not be returning.... EVER! They have a very odd and unwelcoming practice of reserving every single table in their patio dining area. So walk in customers have no place to sit. But they are still happy to take your order knowing EVERY single table has been reserved. Because every table has the name of the reserving party. (We will take your order only to find out you'll likely be eating it in your car). Very inconsiderate practice!! This was common to every customer at the tables near where we were all crashing someone's table. We waited, asked about our food, waiter never returned. Asked another waitress, 20 minutes later the manager appeared. He was annoyed that I wanted to tell him what the issues were. When I asked when was the order actually put on the grill. 5 minutes ago. I told him forget it! I'm leaving!!! NEVER AGAIN!!! Learn how to run a restaurant and treat your customers like you actually want them to return. read more

We came here to watch a Raiders game one Sunday. It was pretty crowded with various fans, which was definitely a cool atmosphere. The openness of the building itself was also very welcome while we're still in the middle of a pandemic. They had pretty good food and drinks, but what I was really impressed by was the service. If we had a "complaint," their team was really great about fixing it, i.e., a hair found in the fries (they remade the whole plate including the burger), the Michelada felt watered down (they gave extra mixer on the side). We will definitely be coming back to enjoy more games. read more

This place is happening! GlIt has a good atmosphere. I appreciate the ample of street parking. Its not quite in the center of a busy plaza or shopping area which made it really stress free coming in for brunch. The space inside is a bit packed and definitely a bit louder than most brunch places we've been to. If that's your jam then you won't mind it here. We ordered a Country Fried Steak with sunny side eggs and potatoes. We also got the Dragon Tiger Phoenix (curious about origin of name...) with sunny side eggs. All were really good everything came out as expected and with a healthy amount of food. You're going to regret it if you pass on those french toast sticks. They were so good, not your average french toast. It was a nice dark cinnamon bread with walnuts inside. The outside was nice and crispy. It was paired with some sweet syrup for dipping Of all the things, the french toast sticks stuck out! No pun intended. Worth coming by for weekend brunch. read more
