I hate offering reviews that are one star. So few of them over the years. Tonight Dirty Birds was average at best and one thing made me cringe. We were seated by a woman who seemed mostly checked out. Not rude but didn't see to care much. Our server was nice and efficient. My wings came out five minutes before my boyfriends tenders came out. Never good. They need an expedited to help with this. The wings were solid good and the tendered were outstanding. That said $54 for some chicken and fries is a lot. And the 4-% service fee -well, you know how I feel about that. It's a rip and it should not be done charge more. Be honest. Now the cringe.... We were seated where you could see the kitchen window and soda machine. Yay! They always used the ice scoop. Well done. But then they picked up unwrapped straws from the top (where your mouth goes) with their bare hands. Not sanitary at all. The food is good if overpriced. The service is ok and the health safety aspects seem to be hit and miss.

This location is by far the best Dirty Birds location- their wings are always juicy and to the perfect cooked. I've tried some of the other locations (liberty station especially can sometimes overcook their wings) but this location always gets it right. The location is fairly large- many tables and a bar area but it does fill up on nights where there are games being shown. There is sometimes a bit of a wait but always a good vibe here. The servers are friendly and check in throughout the meal.

If you live in San Diego and haven't been to any of the Dirty Birds locations, what are you even waiting for?! These wings are some of my favorite in all of SoCal, and there are tons of dry rub and sauce options to tickle your fancy. Plus, a full bar and a great beer selection. What's not to love? Service is good even when they're busy, and the wings are literal perfection. Go check em out. :)

I'm beginning this review by saying the service was amazing! The ladies were sweet, fast, friendly and helpful. If I was just reviewing the service I would give 5+ stars. Now on to why I would only give it 1 star. The food....it was cold, dry and not very tasty. We had boneless wings, fries and veggies. We let the staff know when they came to check in on us. We let them know that it was cold and dry. They said they would have it remade. They brought out a new order. Now it was definitely warmer this time but still dry and not very tasty. The fries, veggies and beer were okay. Because of the staff we would probably try this place again but if it was just based on the food...definitely a hard pass! Meeting in the middle and giving it 3 stars.

Great spot for wings and watching football! Came during the 49ers game so it was quite packed but luckily we got a table before a line started to form outside. Service was a little slow because of how busy it was but our server was very sweet and apologetic about it! The fried green beans and lemon pepper tater tots were good appetizers. We got the 3 Peat BBQ, Dirty Ranch, Garlic Serrano, and Salt and Vinegar wings. While the Salt and Vinegar was more salt than vinegar, the other three flavors were amazing! Garlic Serrano was my personal favorite but all three were crave-able. Look forward to trying more flavors!

Catch DB's happy hour during the week?? Hell yeah. That's always the move! This location is my go to location cuz it's close to home, nice size, and has good/quick service (most times). Has all the tv's you need to watch the big game, or fight, or the Olympics. Whatever sporting event you're trying to tune into. An extensive selection of beers and cocktails. The wings. I always order them extra crispy and they turn out perfect crispy on the outside, and nice and juicy on the inside. One order of lemon pepper and the other either dirty ranch, habanero lime, spicy garlic, or dry/wet jerk. Whatever you choose, you won't go wrong!

Came back today to try the Wednesday special. 1/2 off boneless wings from 6pm-closing. It was a packed house. The hubby and I noticed our poor waiter Daisy was literally the only waiter on the floor for the entire restaurant. We were blown away by her attentiveness and customer even though she was alone and it was very busy. There was a host who was also the table runner and was super nice as well. Didn't get his name but he was an Asian dude that also deserves a shout out. The last time I came, per my last review, there were a lot of waiters. None of them seem to be doing anything but talking to each other. Note to manager: Please give Daisy a raise and hire more waiters. That situation is just crazy. Regarding the boneless wings. They were bomb!! I enjoyed them even more than the bone-in wings. They have more meat and are juicier! My favorite was the homemade honey mustard. Order them! You can thank me laters.

Been here a few times and when it's happy hour place was worth it. They have since changed their happy hour specials and really started to pinch consumers. Charging for carrots/celery, and the basic ranch dipping sauce is ridiculous. And then they won't give you a to go box if you don't finish them. So they would go in the trash, this place has just gotten petty. Service is hit and miss depending who you get. Bartenders are always chill and accommodating. Enough TVs in here to watch what ever you want. Overall was a great place, but too much change to fast has me questioning if I'll ever be back to any dirty birds.

The food was great, but we felt the BBQ could have had more flavor--maybe we should have asked for them wet. Our waiter informed us about the extra charge for ordering all flats but then forgot to give us all flats when the food arrived. She did check in on us, which we appreciated. However, when we first arrived, the sign said to wait to be seated, but no one greeted us. After waiting, we eventually sat ourselves. When I asked for a menu, a staff member responded, "That's why we usually have you wait to be seated," which came across as dismissive. Given that there were three waiters chatting in the corner, the attitude felt unnecessary. Having worked in the restaurant industry myself, I understand that service can vary, but professionalism and hospitality go a long way. That said, the food itself was excellent--kudos to the chefs!

We had just gotten massages and were hungry. We saw the sign and pulled in, cause you can never go wrong with DBs. We started with some fried pickles, which were very good and surprisingly not that tart. My gf went with the Caesar Salad with chicken and I had my usual a burger. It hit the spot and we will be back again.

You can pour sauce on a log but it's still a log. DRY FRIED CHICKEN WINGS I couldn't swallow
    Melissa J.

Do not order take out if you expect your wings to come dry. You can slap some sauce on them, but they were past the fry time. I've been here over a dozen times and my wings never came out as dry as the desert. If you go in, they're great. Moisture in the chicken....but DO NOT ORDER DELIVERY. I can light a fire with these DRY wings. Really sad too cause my bf is in Japan and these were for our FaceTime date and I couldn't stomach them. DRY

How busy does it get for Monday night football as of late?? I'd like to get a table but wasn't sure how early I need to secure a primo spot for the game.

Will they play the 2021 NBA finals with audio on for the full bar?

Is this just a bar food place with fried up frozen food or do they actually make it there?

The food is actually good. I don't think it is frozen food.

Are there gluten free (gluten friendly) options?

Their regular wings aren't breaded so they are GF!

Does Dirty Birds still have its daily deals? Particularly their AYCE wings on Mondays?

Yes! $15.99 for AYCE on Mondays.

Does this place play UFC fights? Also, is it kid-friendly (10 y/o)?

They do play UFC fights and it’s very kid friendly!

What time is happy hour and is it everyday?

Mon-Fri 3-6PM and All Day Tuesday

Can you ask for all flats when ordering the wings?

    Flats?

    Do you have boneless wings?

    Yes!

For their half off wings special that's Monday thru Friday, is it dine in only?

When I inquired, the staff informed that it was only for those who dine-in.

Anyone know if this place is service dog friendly? Asking for a friend

The location on liberty station if you're sitting outside I've seen owners have them with them.

You have to be within 7 days of your requested reservation date so as soon as I was closer I set up a reservation through Open Table. They do require a deposit which was fine because it made sure that we had the lanes needed for our party. I actually ended up calling the Tavern and Bowl to see if they had any earlier reservations and they told me if the person who requested an earlier time didn't pay the deposit I'd get the time slot. I am so lucky because these people didn't pay their deposit and we got the time and the lane. Cute thing, you can actually have kids come too, my niece who is 5 got to come along and they had a little device for her so she can push the ball, she ended up beating me. Everyone was so kind and service was so smooth and efficient, we got to bring donuts for our party and my husband and I ordered the carnitas nachos, they were delicious. Seriously such a great time, obviously this is before the Padres season so we lucked out on parking but this is a great place to host birthday parties. Thank you again for letting us have such a great time!

From the moment I arrived, I was greeted by an uplifting open-air environment, truly a breath of fresh air that felt like stepping onto the observation deck of the USS Enterprise. The amazing views of the bay were nothing short of spectacular, bringing a serene beauty that rivals the finest star systems. Over the years, my wife, her girlfriend, and I have become frequent travelers to this culinary haven, beaming back for nearly 15 years--a testament to its enduring allure. The selection of IPAs and mixed drinks is impressive, catering to even the most discerning palates in the galaxy. The choices are vast enough to satisfy anyone embarking on this flavor exploration, whether you prefer a refreshing drink to toast a successful mission or something bolder, like a phaser on stun! The menu features a delightful array of options, including fresh salads, tantalizing finger foods, and, of course, their famed burgers. My wife's enthusiasm for the offerings has always been infectious, and during this visit, she and her girlfriend were on a culinary adventure of their own, indulging in the flavors that have made Nicky Rottens a local favorite.
