I've tried some of the other locations (liberty station especially can sometimes overcook their wings) but this location always gets it right. The location is fairly large- many tables and a bar area but it does fill up on nights where there are games being shown. There is sometimes a bit of a wait but always a good vibe here. First time coming to this iconic San Diego wing spot/sports bar. The interior wasn't very bright but you could see and there were a good amount of TVs to watch the games they were playing. I was seated quickly on this bar table thing (not the actual bar) and it was high up. The prices were pretty expensive at $12.50 for five wings, not including any sides/sauces. I came here on a Monday and got the Monday AYCE wing special. The AYCE made it more worth it but still a bit pricy at $31 per person. For AYCE, it comes with fries or tater tots, a sauce, 10 wings, and some carrots and celery for your first order. After that, you get 5 wings per refill. The wings were a good size though the skin wasn't really crispy or anything. I tried buffalo, lemon pepper, and flaming honey mustard. Buffalo and lemon pepper are my go to flavors but I didn't really enjoy any of the flavors I tried. There were an overwhelming amount of flavors so it was a bit hard to choose on the spot with AYCE but now I wish I tried some different ones. Our waitress was pretty nice and checked in on us a good amount. Overall, I felt like the food was just okay, and for the value made it less good. My rating is a bit higher because of the service. I might come back to try some other flavors since this is such an iconic San Diego chain. read more

We were seated by a woman who seemed mostly checked out. Not rude but didn't see to care much. Our server was nice and efficient. My wings came out five minutes before my boyfriends tenders came out. Never good. They need an expedited to help with this. The wings were solid good and the tendered were outstanding. That said $54 for some chicken and fries is a lot. And the 4-% service fee -well, you know how I feel about that. It's a rip and it should not be done charge more. Be honest. Now the cringe.... Now on to why I would only give it 1 star. The food....it was cold, dry and not very tasty. We had boneless wings, fries and veggies. We let the staff know when they came to check in on us. We let them know that it was cold and dry. They said they would have it remade. They brought out a new order. Now it was definitely warmer this time but still dry and not very tasty. Great spot for wings and watching football! Came during the 49ers game so it was quite packed but luckily we got a table before a line started to form outside. Service was a little slow because of how busy it was but our server was very sweet and apologetic about it! The fried green beans and lemon pepper tater tots were good appetizers. We got the 3 Peat BBQ, Dirty Ranch, Garlic Serrano, and Salt and Vinegar wings. While the Salt and Vinegar was more salt than vinegar, the other three flavors were amazing! The hubby and I noticed our poor waiter Daisy was literally the only waiter on the floor for the entire restaurant. We were blown away by her attentiveness and customer even though she was alone and it was very busy. There was a host who was also the table runner and was super nice as well. Didn't get his name but he was an Asian dude that also deserves a shout out. The last time I came, per my last review, there were a lot of waiters. I brought my family to Dirty Birds on College Ave today--my mom, my sister, my two sons, my husband, and one of my sons who just flew in from Texas and serves in the military. He was excited to try Dirty Birds for the first time, and it was also my mom's first visit. Unfortunately, what should have been a great family meal turned into an extremely disappointing experience due to the customer service provided by the Store Manager. From the moment we arrived, it was clear they were short-staffed--only two employees working, including the manager. As a restaurant manager myself, I fully understand the pressure that comes with being shorthanded. I was patient and understanding because I get it. But being short-staffed is exactly when leadership matters most. A manager should be able to work under pressure, support their team, and still deliver a positive experience to guests. Instead, the manager made us feel like we were an inconvenience. It took 15 minutes just for him to come to our table, and my husband had to get up and grab menus for us because we hadn't been acknowledged. When he finally came to take our order, he didn't offer a smile--just a frown and an irritated attitude. He even argued with the only other server on shift right in front of us. The lack of professionalism was honestly shocking. We spent over $300 on our meal, and at the very least, we expected basic courtesy. The food has always been good, and my husband and I visit this location frequently, which is why this experience was so disappointing. This was the worst service we have ever received here. When the manager finally switched us over to a different server--a young gentleman--we felt immediate relief and even told him so. His service was the only positive part of the entire visit. I really wanted my family to enjoy this place, but after today, I can't in good faith recommend this location to anyone I know. Charging for carrots/celery, and the basic ranch dipping sauce is ridiculous. And then they won't give you a to go box if you don't finish them. Well, let's start off with the fact that the waitstaff was very nice and attentive. The bathrooms are clean. They have many TV's I wish they had the close captioning on because it would have been great to hear what the announcers had to say during the Houston VS Duke game. The wings are about the same price as any place else in San Diego. The main problem was that they were so EXTRA DRY. I would have thought that a place that specializes in chicken wings would have some idea how to make a good tender juicy wing. My guess is that the way that they made the EXTRA DRY WING that was is that they are throwing them in the deep fryer when they are frozen. You generally fry wings at 325-350 but they are running the fryer at around 400 which makes the EXTRA DRY WING cook faster from frozen but hissing and popping is all of the water that was supposed to be in the what is becoming an EXTRA DRY WING is now going up the hood. I ordered my EXTRA DRY WINGS at the start of the second game of the final four on a Saturday night. Maybe you could figure that the place is going to sell many pounds of wings and take the wings out of the freezer a day before and throw them in a 2-hour brine 'Combine 1-Cup kosher salt to 1-gallon cold water let it brine for 2 hours in the refrigerator take the wings out and put them in a hotel pan with a cooling rack let the brine drip off then put it in the walk in uncovered and the next day you will have juicy tender wings that will have a nice crisp skin that will suck up the sauce and what you will not have ifs the horrible EXTRA DRY WINGS you served me last night.' They are also one of the greedy twits that slips in a service charge of 4%. If you say that the 10 wings are $20.50 then charge that amount. There is nothing that I can do about it. The only person I can punish is the waitstaff with a smaller tip. I am sure that the owners would be fine with me giving a smaller tip because there behavior is ME,ME,ME.
