I really want to like this place as they have great live music, but every visit is a struggle to get service! And this weekend 3 of 5 friend got sick after just drinking draft beer! I will say my husband and I only went for a drink on the deck. I sat down and asked the bartender to make me a sweet drink. The drink she brought me was really good. What was not really good was the price. They charged us $9.50 for that damn drink. How the hell can they justify charging that much? The guy sitting next to me was complaining about the drink prices too. He said when happy hour was over, Bud Light bottles go up to $4.25. The bartender had a bad attitude also. I won't ever go back there but I'm sure they will end up going out of business anyway. read more

This is an unusual type of place. It attracts a much older crowd. Saturday nights always feature live music that is usually quite good. The retirees bring their fans to cool off after cutting up on the dance floor. The drinks are good and there is a full bar. I don't recommend ladies come alone unless you want to fight off admirers. read more

Zero stars for Poppys. Save your time and money. Eat somewhere else. Overpriced, zero training, poor quality food. Feel bad for servers. They give their best effort, and due to every other aspect of Poppy's, they likely can't make much money. Now if you go next door to Zakura's, they get it right every time. I typically agree with the masses when browsing through Yelp for places to frequent. I'm not sure why older reviews are still on here from prior to this being the Hillside Gastropub. I certainly don't agree that this place is less than average. I've been here 3 times in the last 4 months and each time I felt the food was good, the beer was cold, and the service was great. Once we sat at the outside bar, once inside, and once out on the patio with live music. The food is good. Sure there could be more variety, but I'd rather have a limited menu that is executed properly than 40 options and none of them that great. My favorite food here are the burgers by far. The Pacific and the all American are my go to choices. The fries that accompany the burgers are plentiful. Give this place a shot. Sunset in the summer are great on the patio! read more

So we came in to hear Danny Frazier play. Always a treat. We ordered food and it was a little slow but it appears they don't don't get many orders close to when the kitchen closes. Skins were good but too much potato for my taste. Girlfriend liked them lots though. I got the Hawaiian burger and fries. Fries could have gotten to me hotter but they were hot enough and very good. Burger was excellent but they could have cut out the dang pineapple core! Other then that it was great. Drinks are honest you can dance to the band and they all were. I wish I could give 0 stars. We went there last night because our favorite place was too crowded. Huge mistake. My stomach is still upset. We got the black bean nachos and fish sandwich. The nachos were dripping with that nasty canned orange cheese sauce that you get in a bowling alley. I went and ordered a burger with blue cheese and carmalized onions temped to medium. When the food came out the burger was overcooked had no seasoning or flavor the onions were burnt darker than the actual burger. Luckily I was extremely hungry, but I ate my food and left with 0 intentions of going back. Extremely disappointed and would never suggest to anyone. A $9 burger should have some kind of flavor. It's a storm tonight but Sonny Moorman was scheduled I called 513-574-6333 and no one answers no wonder so many bad reviews if they can't even answer the phone. So since I can't be sure the performer was not rescheduled I will not bother to go. I imagine if he does play it will be a poor turn out due to weather and people like me that want to go but I'm not traveling there to find out he was rescheduled. It rang like 40 times. Was there Saturday night to hear the Sonny Moorman band. They were great as always. The place was busy but according to our server, they only had two servers working the tables, We ordered burgers which finally arrived one hour and twenty minutes later. Ordered medium but they were overcooked to the point of being barely edible. We would have sent the food back but didn't want to start over after the first time took so long. No silverware - asked for a knife to cut the burger and was told they were out of knives, There were a couple of ladies in our group drinking water along with their wine so our server dropped off a pitcher of water for the table which was nice. However when the pitcher was empty, our friend went to the bar to have it refilled and the bartender told her we weren't allowed to have a pitcher. What? We have been there many times in the past, drawn in by the bands playing there. The food has never been great and the service has been okay but this time it was just too bad to repeat. read more

Our group has been to the pub for dinner, drinks and dancing a few times. The service has never been great but this past Friday night it hit a new low. We had come to listen to the band and have dinner. We ordered dinner and over an hour later only one dinner (out of four ordered) had arrived and it was cold. It might have been somewhat understandable if they had been busy but they weren't busy at all. We gave up waiting for food and canceled the order. We asked to speak to the manager but he refused to speak to us. One of our group finally went across the street and brought back McDonalds sandwiches for the rest of us. If we wanted drinks we just went to the bar and got them since the waitresses were pretty much non-existent. The music was good but that was about it. It's too bad because there is a lot potential to this place but with the management that they have they are going to run it into the ground. read more

Well we have visited the new place now called Hillside Gaster Pub. two times and both times (second time to give it one more chance) and totally disappointed!! Our Server Cassie was awesome and we love Rachel behind the bar but that is about all. The prices are way out there, and the food was horrible, we could not even eat the burger it tasted like they dumped it with salt, the fries were ok so we ate those, the first time I tried the Poached Salmon salad and it was ok but not worth the price, I think they are more worried about the presentation of the plate and fancy bowls than the taste they presenting. The music was a DJ and we felt like we were at a wedding reception with the music choices!! They better figure it out or no way is this place going to make it. And the owner/ GM is totally clueless. He might want to spend more time talking to his customers and not standing around. Like I said, Cassie is awesome, we actually felt sorry for her, she was the only one working, the other servers just looked clueless!! She was the only one it seemed to us who was working the whole place. And Rachel well we just love her, she has been there for a along time, I think that is why a lot of people come there is to see her. Better figure it out Gastro Bistro this place is a joke, we have to say we really like what they did with the place as far as the lounge and adding the outside bar, which both times we could not even sit in because it was reserved, and the air conditioning was not working good so it was awful in there, as well as the inside of the Bistro. Went to the restroom and the hand towel dispenser was broken and when I told an employee it was not working standing there with my hands dripping wet she just said sorry it is broke and did not even try to accommodate. Will be telling my friends WAY OVER PRICED AND TERRIBLE FOOD. Would only give one star which is actually a gift but like I said the service we got from Cassie and Rachel was excellent. read more

Planned a meet up for a group of local friends there a couple weeks ago. Hadn't been there in several years. My boyfriend and I showed up about an hour before our group was scheduled to come so we could have dinner. I ordered potato skins (which the waitress told me were completely different than the menu description) I said fine, I just wanted cheese and bacon anyway (NO scallions!)...they arrived littered with scallions so she took them back and when I finally got them they were pretty dry and tasteless. The worst part for us was all the toadlers running around the place. This is a BAR. It looked like all the families waiting to have dinner at Sakura were sent to Hillside to wait for a table. Children were running around the dance floor screaming and running around on the stage (and the place is very dark so no idea what equipment may have been up there). It felt like Chuck-E-Cheese not a grown up Pub....where people are probably going to get away from the kids for a bit. Will not be returning anytime soon and will be finding a different location for our next gathering. read more
