We had a great dinner last night. This restaurant seems a little off the beaten path and does not look like much from the outside; however, it is very spacious and had great good. There is cool decor around the restaurant including, jersey's, old photos, and signs on the walls. There was a nice bar with about 18 beers on tap as well as a nice selection of liquor. They have live music on some night and on others a DJ. We were a little early and didn't hear the DJ last night. Outside there were tables set up as well and some Cornhole boards too. We were greeted by a friendly host who seated us promptly. We were then waited on by friendly staff. We ordered the Bavarian pretzel bites which came with queso as well as the loaded tater tots. The tots came with queso cheese, crumbled bacon, green onions, and jalapenos. The appetizers did not take long to come to our table The pretzels tasted amazing and the queso had a little zing to it. The tots were to die for. I would highly recommend. They were crispy and had some bite to them thanks to the queso and jalapenos. I had the Italian meat lovers pizza which had Capicola ham, Genoa salami, Italian sausage, and pepperoni. The pizza was superb. It had a nice crunch to it and was not too doughy. My son had the cheese pizza and enjoyed it. My wife had the country club wrap and a side salad. The salad was fresh. She enjoyed the wrap as well. I was actually impressed by Jim & Jacks. I was expecting a rundown old restaurant and this is the opposite. Very lively on a Saturday night with a decent crowd and live music. Equally impressive was their food. The pizza was delicious and I had to cut myself off before I over ate. The Buffalo chicken salad was probably one of the best I've had in a long time. I must also mention the beer. Their coolers must be operating at peak performance as the brews were the perfect refreshing temperature. Nice little spot for an afternoon lunch. The place was packed with people which told us they must have a pretty great lunch during the week. I got some kind of cowboy panini which was essentially a burger with jalapeño cream cheese on Texas toast with a bacon jam to dip which was so simple yet phenomenal. We will definitely be back. I stopped in for a late lunch on December 18th after a very, very bad day. The place was big -- bustling with Christmas gatherings -- and had a great "neighborhood bar" vibe. I sat at the bar and ordered the cod on marble rye with coleslaw. It was delicious. The cod fillet was generous and nicely breaded. It was crunchy and cooked to perfection. The coleslaw was obviously prepared in house. It was also great. I jokingly asked the lady tending bar if she was Jim or Jack, and she replied that Jim was her last name. I'm not sure if she was joking, but it made me laugh. She was very busy but attentive. I left feeling a lot better than when I went in. I really like this place, and would go back in a minute if I didn't live in Houston. It's just a mile or so down the road from the Anderson Ferry, so if you're flying or driving into Cincy from northern Kentucky, take the ferry and stop at Jim and Jack's for lunch. The name is a bit deceptive. It's near the river but not exactly on the river. In fact, there is no outdoor seating and even if there was you wouldn't be able to see the river. Having said that, we enjoyed a tasty lunch at this local bar and grill. The service was good, the food was good and the prices are reasonable. We had their fish sandwich ($13) and their Hot Sausage sandwich ($11) and both come with one side. Portions were ample but not so big as to have left-overs. They have a full bar with a big beer selection. Part of the place is a dance floor and stage where they have live music on certain days. This place was recommended by old friends, so my wife and I drove down from Columbus to meet with them at what we assumed was an old Rt 50 bar. We were very mistaken, as this is one hell of a cool place! You can eat, drink, dance a little and have fun with loads of decent people. This place was packed but parking was easy, the interior is large and I even ran into some of my old Cincy friends from the hilltop. The service and variety of food made our Christmas extra special, especially after not seeing each other in awhile. I can't believe there aren't more reviews of this place. Then Again, probably not needed. Entire place looks like regulars; I'm guessing I'm one of 3-4 people in attendance who have never been here before. right off the bat, the place is way bigger than you would expect from looking on the outside. It's quite the tardis. Lots of long tables, four tops, an entire area that was rented out for a birthday. The bar itself is huge. It's a long bar with plenty of seating The waitresses are incredible. Very personable, absolute small town charm. In a somewhat sterile impersonal world, they are charmers without ever trying or meaning to be. I was sort of hankering for pork sandwich, but I walked around the place and absolutely no one was eating one on a Friday night. An even smattering of burgers and pizza, some nachos. The nachos appeared disappointing. Named collosoll, butthey absolutely are not. The inside is absolutely immaculate. There's some sort of giant wood floor or actually I'm sure it's fake but it looks very nice. Some little neon signs and guitars on the wall that kind of thing but nothing excessive. Not cheesy. Band practically overwhelms conversation, but it IS Friday night. It's not excessively loud. People were line dancing during sound-check. And 30 seconds into the first song. Band is good. Songs are Like.....country. You know, the kind that sounds like an bar band song with fiddle. Better yet...sounds that sounds like a lightly souper up versions of John Cougar Mellencamp, Bad Company, or Linda Rhondstat on her 70's heyday, with some fiddle. propulsive. Applause after the first song. There is plenty of space between tables -- amazing. NO one is crowded. It's great. Is really the most stress-free physical layout for any bar, ever. At another Patrons suggestion, I got the Porky pineapple. Pork sausage, pineapple, a little bit of red onion. It looked really good. pictures can be deceiving. The photos I see on yelp make the pizza sort of a pure deep dish, but it is not. The pizza is fine. Actually... Scratch that. Just ok. Sauce is a little sweet,, but i think they added BBQ sauce to it. but otherwise plain and not distinctive The crust is BLAND. I don't get it. I think the overall motto of this kitchen seems to be...don't offend anyone, ever. This is the only pizza I've ever added salt to. Does not taste like theyve ever seen a garlic Clove in the kitchen. The coleslaw is, in the words of the song Amish Paradise...very plain. Get some Italian dressing on the side to add to it or you'll be throwing it out. The only and I mean only reason to purchase the slaw is because we all need veggies. We do. Be healthy...get the slaw. Eat 5 bites, as I did. Come to think of it...same solution for the pizza: get a side of ranch dressing for a little light dipping. Problem solved. Tried that...now I even like the crust. weird. wel...makes sense now. Ah Jim & Jacks on the river, A westside staple! Conveniently located roughly ten minutes from downtown Cincinnati. With its small town hospitality and family owned friendly service it seems like it would be located a lot farther away, fortunately for us it is not. Jim & Jacks offers everything that bars were built on and unfortunately are rare to find anymore. Lucky for you and I they have it. The location is convenient but not congested with multiple other establishments making parking a dream come true. The owner is very hands on and is never to busy to ask how things are going. The food and drink selection is rather wide and all of it is worth a try. The live entertainment is what they use to draw in the crowd and rightfully so. It is quite spectacular, they constantly provide the best live entertainment for there audience and do it often enough for you not to be able to forget about. They seem to aim more towards the country crowd which I am not particularly fond of but to each its own. However, if you like to dance look no more because Jim & Jacks puts its money where its mouth is in the dancing realm. The food menu has changed a few times in the last couple of years. Which is great that they are changing it up to keep people returning. I would have to say that my favorite part of it is when the owner is available to make breakfast, he makes a mean western omelette, the bloody Mary's are standard but solid. I've never had anything off of the dinner menu I didn't enjoy. From what I have been told he has a long time friend help him with the dinner menu who is a genius in the kitchen. The CODfather is the staple sandwich and needs no explanation due to the name. I have heard a lot of people say that this is an "old timers" bar and I would disagree and go on to say that this is an establishment with class and respect to not allow people that are going to tarnish its good name inhabit it. The crowd is as good as it gets, the regulars are as friendly as it comes and you just can't beat the loyalty. As far as the decor and drink selection goes they are both pretty up to date inside has been recently renovated and looks amazing, the dance floor is brand new. The previous one had some mileage on it so they had to bring in a new one. The only complaint I have is that they do not offer any leisure sports. I think they could really capitalize off of a large Jenga set on the patio or cornhole on the inside when they have no band playing or even a special area out back. They are doing a decent job in the craft beer world, a few solid local breweries and all of the basic known imports. The liquor selection is something special, they have damn near everything you could want out of a bar plus some. Overall Jim & Jacks is a great place to relax and become a regular. The service, prices and products are all worth the drive if you aren't a westsider and as far as westsiders not familiar with them it's a place to make friends and memories. Stopped in for dinner before the rowdy weekend crowd straggled in. Service was friendly. This is a bar. They have food. Do not expect miracles. We ordered the suggested loaded tater tots, then some chicken wings and egg rolls. In elementary school I loved when the cafeteria served tater tots. There isn't much you can do to tater tots to make me turn up my nose at them. This place tops them with green onions, bacon, queso and jalapenos. I'm not a big fan of the jalapenos, but the tots were good. I dipped them in sour cream. The chicken wings weren't great but weren't the worst I've had either. Egg rolls were a mistake. They were overcooked and served with some sauce...hollandaise maybe? This is food you eat when you are intoxicated. Even then-don't get the egg rolls! That being said, this is mostly a bar. The drinks were good and strong. Dr McGillicuddy's is a common ingredient in the cocktails. Tiki Torch is delicious. We went for the Curly & the Q balls Xmas show. The atmosphere was festive and fun. I ordered a hamburger and fries. The hamburger was delicious, however, the fries were not. I cannot remember the last time I saw french fries that were white. They were not hot, so I could not tell how long they were in the fryer if at all. I know they were packed and filling a lot of food orders. Looking at other people's food the tater tots and onion rings, looked like a better option. Next Time I'll have to try those. read more

I heard this place had the best fish so I decided to try it on a Wednesday night when they have line dancing. I had no idea all things ceased to operate as normal in the kitchen. We sat down to order and watched the line dancers. Not all the music is country and it costs$5 to join in wether you know how or not. Believe me, you aren't walking up on that dance floor without putting in your$5, they're watching ya. The waitress said they normally don't have servers during the dancing. The people seemed to have bright their own food with them. I didn't really care for the fish and fries. My daughter got the double decker sandwich and my husband had a burger. Years ago, I went to Jim & Jack's on River, with friends. Had a excellent time. The entertainment was extraordinary well done. I wanted to return the following weekend; but everyone was busy. If I may, there was a bar on the corner of West Eighth Street and Overlook Avenue, called the Blue Note. I only went there once. Again, I wanted to return; but I couldn't. I heard it closed, for some strange reason. I, for one, would like to see the BLUE NOTE return. The menus were singing, excellently. If someone, with deep pockets, could bring THE BLUE NOTE back, I'm sure, it would be a HIT once again.Blue Stone Ivory I also remember 2 local theaters: one was the Covedale Theater and the other one was the Danberry Theater. Let me begin with this, I have a lot of bar experience as a musician and employee both behind the bar and cooking. I have yet to visit here for a weekend evening for the country music which I hear is stellar but my first visit today for lunch was exemplary! When you first walk in you'll notice not just the size which it is a large space, but the cleanliness is unlike any I've ever seen in a local bar and rivals that of any of the more upscale restaurants in the area. The pride of ownership in the way this place looks really makes you take note and yet it still keeps a grounded feel of a killer local bar where you would wanna hang with old friends and make new ones. For my lunch I started with 8 buffalo wings hot which is always a good barometer for what to expect from the rest of the food any place may serve and they didn't disappoint. The wings we're not breaded which I personally prefer, good size, and crispy with an awesome heat to the sauce. Hot enough to enjoy if you like spice but not that stupid (bet you can't eat these) level you get at some places. Followed it up with the cowboy burger which is a blend of ribeye and sirloin and just absolutely outstanding with crinkle cut fries that were great. Lastly meeting the owner Mr Jim and his daughter Karen who run the place is definitely enough to make me come back time and again. Everyone I saw walk in was welcomed by the owner (who has his own brand of wit and welcome) that most certainly made everyone feel welcome and appreciated. Good cold draft selection as well as bottles, amazing food, grade A cleanliness and owners who truly appreciate your business is enough to make anyone want to come back here. Fun place down on the river on river road. Drink prices are good and the atmosphere is laid back. Good place to go see a band because they have a big dance floor along with a stage and decent acoustics. The night we went there was a country act that split time with a different singer who did a few classic rock songs which is more my style. The place was pretty busy but it was still easy to get a drink and the staff was friendly. I can't comment on the food because I didn't have any but I'm sure I'll be back and might give the food a try. read more

I saw a great Vegas Show Band called Hot Wax there tonight...which was the reason that I went across town to this place to begin with. The food was semi-edible...and over-priced. The service was bad and they were pretty rude. When I asked for water to drink for my pregnant wife I was told that they aren't allowed to give away tap water, but if I wanted to buy a bottle of water for $2.50/bottle they could do that; my bottle of beer cost less than they were charging for bottled water. I have NEVER been anywhere that wouldn't give you tap water to drink for free in my entire life....in the US or any other country. There is no way that I will be going back there for a second chance. read more

This was by far the worst experience I have EVER had at ANY restaurant I've ever been to. We walked in with a group of 16 people. The waitress Tara M. did great on our drinks. Then she came back to take our order. So we all order and fast forward an hour and the food comes out...well 1 person at a time...half the table never even got served and we cancelled our orders due to us being there for over an hour. We said something to the server and it's "it's cooking right now"...okay well half the table has ate, finished, and are ready to go. So we say something to the manager, his response "we weren't expecting a table of 16 to come in". I get it. 16 is a large table...but the fact that SEVERAL tables ordered after us got their food and have left by the time we STILL haven't received our food is an issue. So half of our group ate, and the other half had to cancel our order. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. read more
