I really wanted to like this place. I am all for supporting the local businesses in the area and I love indian food so I was thrilled to try this place. I heard great things and was very underwhelmed with the food. I got the chicken tikka, veggie samosas, lamb vindaloo, and two different kinds of naan. As you can tell, I was hungry and excited. I really, really like this place. It is a little more expensive than I'd like, but I have to admit that the huge portion of food is probably worth it - I can easily get 2 huge meals, or even 3-4 smaller meals, out of it. We needed some delivery for a rainy Friday night and had been curious about this place for some time. Yelp online ordering didn't work but we could order online from restaurant website for delivery to our harbor east location. We tried to time it for 7p, but driver arrived about 15 min late. I think our eating experience suffered as a result since everything was not as fresh as it would have been. That said, we could taste the potential. Lamb momos and chicken choyala were highlights extremely tasty and appropriately spicy, also weren't hurt by microwaving. Kebab platter appetizer was good but meat was dry and microwaving made it drier. Breads (garlic naan and laccha paratha) also dry. All in all, I bet this is a great place to experience if you visit the Locust Point location, but the drive around the harbor in in Fri night traffic compromised the food too much for us to have truly enjoyed it. The worst of which was my final course, the tandoori chicken. Which I'm sure would have been amazing, but the requested "medium spice" left me huddled over a bowl of milk for 15 minutes after only two delicious bites. WHAT A FIND! I would have never expected to find such delicious Indian food, first at a Nepali owned restaurant, second at this location. We ordered veggie momos and malai kofta, which came with rice. But we ordered one naan as well. Both dishes blew me away. We have eaten at countless Indian restaurants in the US, and this is easily the best food we have eaten so far. I am quite certain that other items on the menu would be excellent as well. I was amazed to see that we could not finish the malai kofta curry and naan. Normally we are able to finish 2 entrees, and here, we had one appetizer and an entree. The restaurant seems to be popular in the area as I counted at least 6 customers picking take out in span of 40 minutes, that too at 3 PM on a Saturday. If you are visiting this area, do yourself a favor and eat here. I don't mean that you dine in, as that does not have much of an experience. But definitely eat the food whatever you decide! Hands down the best Tikka I've had in Baltimore. The restaurant is very "hole in the wall" but the food made up for what it lacks in decor. No heat, in fact our server had a coat and wool hat on, no silverware, only plastic and styrofoam, and food is brought in the carry-out containers without lids. We live in the neighborhood and every time we walk by, the amazing smells make us say "Hmmm, I could go for some chicken tikki masala!" I am very picky when it comes to my favorite indian dishes. Their chicken tikka masala is my favorite around downtown. I like things spicier than most people and they definitely accommodate me when I call and order things "EXTRA spicy". However, if you aren't one for spicy they will also make things however you like. The food is good, but avoid delivery at all costs. Ordered at 8pm, food arrived at 10pm. The order was for one person. This is one of the few places, however, to give you free sauces on the side. Other Baltimore Indian restaurants charge you for side sauces, that's pretty hard swallow. The Tandori chicken is OK. The vegetables were soggy. The chicken a bit dry. The Dal is great. They really nailed classic Indian Dal. The Naan isn't traditional, but it's passable. Price is OK, but this is Baltimore not a real city so you can't charge 20 bucks for a meal. Very good Indian food. We called to place an order and both of us had special requests and they were happy to accommodate our order. When we got there they had our order ready and the main dishes were still hot when we drove home. The appetizer (veggie pakoras and veggie samosas) were both very tasty and fresh but had cooled off. The samosa was actually huge and in the app you get just one but a bunch of pakoras. My wife's mango lassi was delicious as were both of our main meals; a mixed veggie dish and her specially made panner tikki masala. We'll be back! read more
