Haven't ordered from this place since leaving Harbor East for work in 2020, but today for an executive leadership program I decided to introduce the group to the Kabul's delicious food . I tried to call the restaurant to explain what had happened and asked to speak to a manager. I was not permitted to speak to the manager and there was no apology-I was just told to call DoorDash. I've been loving The Kabul for takeout or delivery. I recently discovered their lamb shawarma and am hooked. I usually go more for chicken dishes but the lamb is just so flavorful. I recently tried the shawarma fries which comes topped with lamb, hot sauce, and a creamy sauce and it was SO good. The signature bowls remain one of my favorite items and usually last me a few days since the serving size is so generous. My only real complaint is I wish they would pack some of their to-go items more carefully. Specifically, the shawarma platters which come with choice of meat, fries, salad, and sauce all in a flimsy plastic dish. Depending on the delivery driver, the plastic dish is easily tossed around resulting in sauce getting everywhere and creating a real mess. I know it's not necessarily their fault if the delivery driver doesn't transport with care but I do think some better packaging or packing side dishes in separate containers would be nice. It'd also be great to see more compostable packaging being used instead of plastic. If you do opt for one of their platters, also know that it does come with pita stacked on top of it. This isn't mentioned in the description and being gluten free, I would've asked for it to be removed in the special instructions had I known. If cross contamination is a concern for you, maybe order elsewhere. read more

Delicious and amazing location!! Came here after visiting the aquarium and so glad I did versus something at the inn harbor. The staff were so friendly and helpful! It was also close proximity to the aquarium and the parking garage associated with it which made so easy with babies and toddlers. The kabob was seasoned so well and flavor. My favorite was the chick pea curry and my husband loved the pumpkin. Wish we took pictures but we were so hungry. Despite waiting over thirty minutes for my food while my partner's food came within 10 mins. It was an overall great experience. I really enjoyed the tandoori chicken and was very tender. Afghan classic! Today I tried the Kabul located by the power live in downtown Baltimore. The setting is nice as they have an area for indoor eating and an area to pick up as well. They are also open until 11pm so that was good too. I was able to order my food on the phone to which I ordered the tandoori chicken entree. I subbed out the salad for extra rice and bread and I'm glad I did that. The rice is sweet I think they cooked It with pumpkin. I liked It but some may want to opt for white rice. The bread is nice and soft and complimented the chicken. The chicken was a bit dry but still had great flavor and they give you three dark meat halves so you're getting a lot for $13 The lady was nice and attentive to my order as well. The food was delicious and relatively healthy, but felt like comfort food, in part because of the naan bread and seasoned rice. The cuisine is Afghan, and very similar to North Indian food in terms of flavor. The portion sizes are really large. The one recommendation I'd have is it would be nice if it were easier to substitute items, and also if the butternut squash was less sweet. I wasn't super hungry when we came here for gunner and only got the potato bolani. It was okay - the dough needed better treatment, frying bubbles in tough dough is never a good sign and it needed more filing. But it was freshly made and the filling was pretty yummy. My coworker had the malai chicken and it blew us both out of our minds. The chicken was melting off the fork, the rice was so delicious and flavorful ( typical afghan style with raisins which means it's a little sweet). I often find myself craving the Kabul, and every time I give in I'm never disappointed. Everything tastes fresh and the seasoning is always amazing. Prices are great and the portions are big too! Usually things are also done pretty fast. My favorite thing to order is the mixed Gyro Platter. I'm actually OBSESSED with it, the meat is so tender and the sauce is creamy and delicious. I've visited this restaurant multiple times Ive been Baltimore and have had a number of their dishes: Hummus, Chicken Kabobs, and Chicken Tikka. The food is made to order, and always comes out piping hot. On my last visit, I burned my tongue on the tikka masala dish I was so impatient. The tikka was very rich, but oily. The spicy chicken kabob is marinated in jalapeños and cilantro. It isnt exactly spicy as it is tasteful. The basmati rich is mixed with carrots and raisins which is exactly how I had it in Afghanistan. When I first had this, in 2016 I was pleasantly surprised at the combination of the ingredients producing such a great taste. The hummus comes with bread and is always good. Depending on the cook, it either comes topped with a lot or little olive oil and saffron. The restaurant itself is a seat yourself, was clean on every stop in and inviting. read more

It works for me because it has an insane amount of ingredients - Served with white basmati rice, spring mix, afghan salad, hummus, baba ganoush, banana peppers, and corn sauce with homemade ranch and tahini sauce. Sometimes I think it is even more than that. I have ordered the chicken curry and was not a fan. So, skip that. I usually order my toddler the pea and potato curry, he LOVES it. I pass this place almost everyday. This is my second time visiting this establishment 7/24/23, in regards to my experience... Last time I dined in by myself and I enjoy the food, it was really tasty. However, as my first time I didn't know that certain drinks like the Lassi are premade and in the refrigerator. Given that my food was served and my drink wasn't I inquired after and I was told "it's in the refrigerator that's there". It seems the cashier is always the same one, Daniel. He chucked in a cute way at my question at that time and I brushed it off but it did bug me a bit because I'm an introvert but also love trying new cuisines and places, so sometimes interactions like that can have a negative effect. I know a lot of people like me, who don't go out by themselves at all because they fear these kinds of interactions. Since last year, I've taken myself to eat & order from many places to try different cuisines and styles, and I love writing so Yelp is a great tool for me to feel like I'm dining with someone as we share our reviews and post tips and pictures for others. With that being said, I think all restaurants should consider just a bit first time visitors or ask if they been at their establishment to improve their experience or assist them with any questions, etc... Ordered take out from here and really enjoyed it! We got the chicken tikka masala which was good, pretty spicy. We also got the beef and chicken combo which was tasty. The seasoning is spicy, but delicious. Both were cooked really well, but I preferred the beef. It was good with the cilantro (I think?) sauce too. I think we would try something other than the tikka masala next time and keep with the beef or combo one. We also got the Bolani appetizer but they forgot the chutney sauce which was a huge bummer. The filling was incredible (probably my favorite thing I had), but the fried bread that encloses the filling was a bit too tough to actually eat. Would try the samosas next time as they are not fried. We also ordered the garlic naan basket which came with three big pieces of naan. Unfortunately, they gave us plain naan instead. Again, the bread was a bit too tough/chewy for me. I'm used to naan being a bit thinner. So good!! I was hesitant to order chicken Tikka masala from an Afghan restaurant lol but it's one of these things that I have to order when I see in any menu lol. I went in thinking I was going to get a lamb bowl but got this instead and it did not disappoint. It was made better than most places I have eaten at. It was made proper!!! My SO and I typically like to get a smattering of their vegetarian options (e.g., potato curry, spinach, chickpeas) and dips (hummus, baba ghanoush), with falafel and crispy fries on the side. There are only two things on the menu that I didn't really care for - the chicken wrap (a smidge dry) and the vegetarian aushak (a little sour for my taste). But as others have mentioned, once you find the dishes you like, the food is really reasonably priced and the bread is very well portioned for the dips. We always have enough for leftovers! My brother oredered the Gyro plate. We both thought the food was outstanding . This is a very simple restaurant. You order your food at the counter, they give you a number and place at your table . Someone brings your food and time to chow down. When you see Middle Eastern people more than local people , I beleive your getting authentic Mediterranean food. The land had a nice charcoal taste and the salad was fresh. My daughter had a lamb gyro that she said was equally delicious with the same comments that I had. The service was very quick so we could make the concert on time. The restaurant was very clean and the bathrooms were clean.
