I'm so upset! My husband and I drove up from South San Francisco only to find that the store had just closed! If you will notice the picture it says that the store is opened for 51 minutes!!! The cashier did open the door and only smiled when I told her that we had just driven 5.5 hours to go to shop at Holly Yashi. She kept saying "I understand ". No she doesn't!! She didn't waste her time and $$ driving up to a store that was closed. She did say that they had just changed their social media...well you missed one. And to make it worse the store is closed on Sundays and Mondays. Shopping at Holly Yashi is just about the only thing to do in this town. Grrrrr! read more

I'm very disappointed in their customer service. I was gifted a pair of hummingbird earrings from my son, and I put them on immediately. I was surprised to see there were no earring backs included with them, as they are very light. Within less than two hours, one of the earrings was lost. We looked everywhere, but couldn't find it. I contacted the company, hoping they would be willing to replace the missing earring. Their response was that earring backs are included with all earrings, and would I just like to buy another pair? They took no responsibility for a possible error. I am very disappointed in their lack of customer service and greed. read more

We spent our 2019 late summer vacation in Humboldt County & stopped by the Holly Yashi factory store. The free tour (3/day) was informative & gave me a greater appreciation for their jewelry. How have I been coming to Arcata for 27 years and have never been to this amazing store? Yes there is a huge billboard on hwy 101, but we found it by chance looking for another garden shop that was closed. As soon as my sister-in-law and I walked in and saw the Mecca before us I quickly turned to my husband and said, "Gonna be here awhile...text you later!" There is the custom jewelry they are famous for -- elegant art for wearing. Floral, Japanese and ornate. Also some simple silver and gold. Additionally the staff makes you feel like royalty from the get go-- complete with free Cappuccinos and British accents. My wife is a fan of Holly Yashi earrings. She has been buying them for years at a store in Los Gatos. We have been coming to the Eureka/Arcata area for several years and until this trip were unaware that Holly Yashi jewelery is made in Arcata. We only found out when we saw some new billboards along highway 101 giving information about the store. Naturally, we had to visit the store. The store is adjacent to the factory where all the items are made. We visited the store on an Saturday; unfortunately the factory is only in operation on weekdays. At 11am on weekdays a factory tour is offered. Even though the factory was not in operation, someone gave us a demonstration of the way that niobium changes color when placed in salt water and electricity is passed through the water. The colors of Holly Yashi metals are intrinsic to the metal; they are not painted. They use niobium in their jewelry along with silver and gold. The niobium metal changes to various colors depending on the voltage that is applied to the salt water! There is a different color for each voltage. This is how they get the great colors in their jewelry. It was a great demonstration; part art and part science fair! The staff in the store is great. They provide personalized service helping with your selection, guiding you through the large collection of items, and also providing you a cappuccino to enjoy while you are shopping. For husbands like me, there is a couch on which to relax with newspapers and magazines to read while sipping your cappuccino, during the time your wife is shopping. Kristin was so beautifully modeling a pair of vintage earrings and after so gracefully educating us on the pair we knew we couldn't leave without them, and ended up buying a couple pairs of earrings that day. Driving up the 101 you are sure to see a billboard for Holly Yashi. Their jewelry is truly unique, and I had wonderful time browsing through their selection. I settled on two pairs of earrings and a ring. I had a difficult time selecting, as everything was beautiful and eye-catching. They also have a variety of other trinkets such as journals, candles, etc. that are not related to Holly Yashi at all. I was there on Saturday, and I read that there are tours available on the weekdays. The customers service is wonderful. The young ladies offered my sister and me some cappuccinos and tea! When my sister was trying some rings on, her ring came off and two employees were kind enough to help us find the ring! Overall, I am very happy with my purchase and the customer services. My daughters took me here many years ago for Mother's Day and to pick out some earrings. I love them and wear them often. One of them broke and lost a small stone. I took it back and they were able to fix them for a nominal fee. They meant a lot to me and while it would have been easy to pick another pair, they would not have had the sentimental value. Since I live not far from Arcata, I've visited the Holly Yashi store about 10 times. Sometimes by myself, other times with friends, and I've even brought some out-of-town guests to see the store and to shop. A couple months ago my brother and his girlfriend were visiting from Finland and ended up buying several items to take back home. The store is well-organized and spacious, the displays are tasteful, and the staff is helpful and knowledgeable. The tea and cappuccinos they offer are a nice touch and very tasty. The product selection is huge and the factory is located under the same roof. They now offer tours to show how the jewelry is made; a very interesting process and an informative tour. Plus at the end they give you a coupon for 20% off any jewelry you purchase that day. Everyone ends up buying something! read more

Wow, I love this place. So many neat home decor things that Holly herself likes and her home is decorated with it. Plus, her handmade jewelry is so fabulous. I have bought many earrings as gifts, but this time, I bought myself a pair with Christmas GC They also serve cappucino while you shop. BUT, it is good coffee,but dang strong so watch it! I was really hyper...more so than normal, after consuming the strong cup of joe. Her earrings and necklaces are unique, one of a kind designs that are sure to please even the pickiest women!! It's located at the factory so every conceivable design of their current jewelry line is available- plus they now carry some things only sold at the store. I bought a pair of earrings - I think $32. They didn't come with backings. I tried my many different backings I have on hand, none fit. The first day I lost one of them. Wow, that sucks. They are crazy beautiful though and light on the ears if you have slightly torn piecing holes like mine. All that don't matter if you lose them.
