EDIT TO RESPOND TO OWNER - I am BEYOND appalled at the unprofessional conduct of the owner of this business. I received the NASTIEST voicemail message from him in response to my original review which was neither rude or overly negative and did not in any way deserve the harassing phone message he left. Let me clear up a few outright LIES in his response to overcharging a customer. First, Sir, I am from Maine and I had my brother do the drive yesterday to make sure I do not put falsities online such as you have just done. It is in fact a 16 minute drive from your shop to my mother's house, not 40 minutes. Laughable. Secondly, I did NOT order AFTER you had finished taking orders on Saturday. MORE LIES. I ordered before noon and originally inquired about hydrangeas and was offered the 8 inch - by the way ANOTHER LIE - the plant was 8 inches not 10 as you claimed - when I asked about the Hydrangeas the very nice young lady (so sorry she is forced to work with a crass thing such as yourself) said that you didn't have those available and offered me the 8 INCH PLANT and told me orders were being taken for a few more hours if I needed to think about it and callback. Lastly, Do Not EVER call my phone again! You are COMPLETELY unprofessional and the personal attack you launched on me was TOTALLY uncalled for and COMPLETELY assinine. Had you called me and attempted to leave a polite, professional message explaining your side of things in a civil manner, I would DEFINITELY have changed my star rating to 4 and edited this review to say how lovely you were. As it is now I changed my star review from 3 to 1 and would give ZERO if it were an option. Please expect to see reviews from me on EVERY SITE ON THE INTERNET warning people that you are completely senile and that if anything honest about your price gouging is reviewed people can expect to be personally attacked and harassed. The BBB will also be notified and a complaint lodged. You can not go around talking to customers the way you did to me. Furthermore, an 8 inch (AGAIN NOT 10 INCH) hanging petunia basket from ANY local florist or greenhouse retails for roughly $25 to $30, not $50. You jacked up the price for Mother's Day and acted like a donkey's ass when you got called out for it. Disgusting. I ordered a floral delivery for my mom for Mother's Day today. As I live in NY and my mom in Augusta, I looked for a local florist and found Hopkins. I opted for an 8 inch hanging petunia basket and was floored when I was charged $50 bucks plus a $10 delivery charge, BUT I do understand that I ordered last minute for the holiday so I assume that's the reasoning behind essentially doubling the price of the product, even though I probably won't order again due to it. It was delivered within hours and the staff was friendly. 1 Response from the ownera day ago When you called late in the day we took your delivery even though deliveries for the day had stopped . It was a 20 mile round trip and took more than 40 minutes to complete. We did it not so much for the money but to make sure a Mother gets something on her Day. We have many Mothers & Grandmothers working here in the 66 years that we have been in business & we have a soft spot for Mothers.Your Mom received a beautiful 10" flowering pot that sells for $50. plus $10 for delivery. This is the price everybody pays whether you live in N.Y. or across the street .This is not a chain store plant wilting beside the lawn tractors. This is a florist quality plant that was delivered within 1 hour of your phone call & presented to your Mom. This is tremendous service & I am insulted by your remarks . Gary B Hopkins

    I received an email from Aubuchon Hardware early in the morning (5:14 A.M.) of July 13th, 2022,…read moreinforming me that I had a $5.00 reward that would be expiring the next day. Needing some repair material for my kitchen counter, I stopped in at the Bangor Street (Augusta) location at approximately 8:30 A.M. that morning. The young man who assisted me made some recommendations pertaining to the materials I would be needing to make the repairs. When I went to the counter to pay for the materials, an elderly man waited on me. I told him that I had a $5.00 reward, which he claimed he was unable to find on the cash register's computer. I then showed him the email on my cell phone that I received from Aubuchon earlier that morning. He said given that there is no bar code on the email, he would not give me the discount. What "really fried my hindquarters" was the fact that he insinuated that I must have used the discount previously, and that he still will not honor the reward. WHAT?!?! Excuse me, but (as I pointed out to him) I could not have used it previously, as you can see by the time stamp on the email, I received it at 5:14 A.M. this morning, and if I would have already used it earlier this morning (which I certainly did not), it would seem that you employee would have remembered me making a purchase and would have a record of it. I WAS NOT a happy customer. I informed this employee to keep the materials I had intended to purchase, and that I would take my business elsewhere. I then walked out and purchased what I needed at one of their competitor's, even though it required an additional 15 minute drive further beyond their store. Up until that point, I've been a satisfied customer of Aubuchon's Augusta store. Needless to say, I will not be back. I am writing this post on July 23rd, and had sent the above in an email to the store manager (as per their website, Mr. Michael Jacques, 064@aubuchonhardware.com) on July 13th, who didn't have the common courtesy to respond with any type of explanation. Apparently, they don't value their customers. Based upon the service I received (or rather, didn't receive) I do not recommend this store, and will be taking my business elsewhere from this point forward. On another note, the only reason I gave them a 1 star rating is because you need to rate at least 1 star in order to post the review.
