I watched an employee (older man with gray hair and beard) walk up to a customer in line and just absolutely berate the poor guy for being in the "wrong line" and acted like the customer was stupid. The customer looked at me with disbelief and walked off. Then my turn was next. I had just purchased an item days earlier that was hundreds of dollars and didn't work right out of the box. I had my receipt with me. He would not exchange it or refund me. He said they had to ship my brand new item out for repair. I don't think I have ever seen such a rude and angry person allowed to deal with the public anywhere. I thought he was joking at first it was so bad. read more

I have had mostly good experiences at Rocky's. They have a great selection of essentials and though short staffed, the folks know their stuff. I recently went in for a propane supply hose, not knowing which one would work and the gentleman on staff knew the exact one and it was in stock and priced fairly! So I say shop local, shop Rocky's! read more

As a Business owner, you negotiate prices for business to business sales and you open accounts with various distributors/vendors. I had done that with this store for over 15 years until today. We had negotiated a new price for a certain item 3-4 weeks ago and had agreed to it. I understand that prices change and things increase. I went in today to pick the items up and they tried to charge me double, saying the manager that I spoke with was no longer there and would not honor the negotiated price. Hey Rocky's Ace Hardware I was able to get my items elsewhere for our original negotiated price! This store has had multiple changes in management over the past few months and it seems like everyone you talk to doesn't have a clue. It's getting more like a big box store. read more

I'm really disappointed in their lack of customer service. I called ahead of time to let them know I would be there close to closing time. I live 25 minutes away and asked if they would wait as I'd probably get there about 5 minutes before closing. I let them know the item I was needing so they could bring it up to the register. They said "yes, ok. See you soon". When I got there at 659 the door was locked. I knocked and 2 employees ignored me. I called the number and when I got someone on the phone they told me they already closed the register down. I won't be shopping here again. read more

We love Rocky's and prefer to give them our biz over big box stores. So we were happy to see they were selling fresh Xmas trees. The trees were still in their fishnet wrap so we could not get a look prior to purchase, but still wanted to give them our biz. We asked them to add a tree at the register. She did. But when we asked if someone would tie it on car, she said "we don't do that." Okay. Next question, "is there something to tie it down?" Again, "no." I'm not sure whether she assumed we'd buy twine or rope from her, but we said we'd have to go home for it. Still no reaction. We went outside, grabbed a tree and found bits of string on the ground to tie it to our car. The lesson? Don't expect customer service from Rocky's. And buy your tree from one of the many pop-up sellers in Brunswick whose trees are on display and who'll tie it to your car for you. Odd place. read more

Wow! I haven't been in here since it was Rogers Ace Hardware, Rocky's Ace Hardware is where it's at! This is the hardware store that every town used to have, until Home Depot and Walmart came in to town... I drove here to pickup some shelving accessories....wowzers, they stock nearly every type of fastener, grommet or accessory that you might need in your life. Wow! They have paint supplies, housewares, hardware, outdoor apparel, barbecue, gardening equipment and accessories, and they even are now carrying maple syrup start-up kits!!! The Staff is friendly and very informative. If you're looking for something for your house come to Rocky's Ace Hardware. I'm sure you won't be let down! read more

I love this store. I've only ever had very pleasant experiences with the staff, who have always gone above and beyond to give me the best possible service. Most of the time I'm sent by somebody else to run and errand, and I've never had trouble finding exactly what I need because the staff is so great. I will say that without the staff's help I would probably be a bit lost... I don't find the store that easy to navigate through, but that's just me. The store also has an impressively large range of products: everything you could ever need for a home project! Best hardware store ever. read more

Was very disappointed with their curbside service option, which we need due to illness in the family. Both the salesman, and then the manager refused to wear their masks, and did not allow touchless payment. Also suggested that if we actually did have a family member with cancer, then why would we risk their life by being out shopping. Wow! They have everything from auto parts to woodstoves. Their fastener department is one of the best I've ever seen. They also have marine supplies, like rope and fittings. They are dealers of Stihl and Husqvarna power equipment with good service/repairs to boot. The staff are extremely helpful and knowledgeable. I feel very fortunate to have them as my neighborhood harware store in Maine. I bought my chainsaw from them. They really knew their stuff and didn't oversell me. The price on a Stihl Farm Boss with a buch a free accessories was as good as any price I found on the web . read more

Rogers has absolutely everything. It isn't huge, but they stock no junk. The staff is beyond knowledgeable; they can tell you how to solve about any problem, especially ones that area residents come up against. From hardware to paint to household items, they really know how to help their customers. read more

Brian (the locksmith) is awesome - he was very helpful in getting a pair of keys duplicated - especially when the computer couldn't find a blank to match. He found one and made sure the key was duplicated properly. Thanks, Brian! The store looks great - it had so many items to look at I could have spent a lot of time here. read more

Roger's has always been a great local place to shop. They have a friendly staff, incredible inventory of items that are hard to find even at the big boys warehouses. I called and asked for a favor and they let me bring in my luggage to weigh it for free before a flight. read more

Very convenient store. They have everything you need. The customer service there isn't great by any means. My 9 yr old son came with me. He loves to loom around at "man stuff". He was looking around in the area I was as well. An associate came over and asked if my son was with me and what he was looking for. Not what I was looking for. As we were looking around at "man stuff", the same associate followed us and watched us wherever we went. Then when we were cashing out, my son was looking at the small pocket knives at the register. The cashier says " those are sharp little boy, so don't touch them". Great store. Needs much better customer service read more

What a terrific hardware store! Today we went in for a particular kind of wood chips for the smoker - they had them. We also picked up some fishing lures. I've found unique and special birthday cards for several occasions, gardening gloves, rust oleum spray paint in the color of my patio furniture, kitchen utensils, stencils to label the mooring ball, and just about anything else I need. They have an extensive collection of stainless steel nuts/bolts/etc for coastal use. We also purchased a Stihl chainsaw and all the fixins at Rogers, as well as a Stihl weed wacker. The selection is pretty darn good for a local business and the staff is extremely friendly and helpful but never pushy. Sometimes I go in just to browse - to a hardware store!! It's a terrific local business. Once a year they also host a silent action to support Make-a-Wish Foundation with lots of neat items to bid on (coming up on Sept 13); I love how they support a good cause that gives me an extra excuse to stop in. read more

Very disappointing. I drove from Boothbay on Saturday looking for mower parts. I had model and serial numbers and when I finally found somebody to assist me. He seemed to busy to use these numbers to make certain I was picking up the right mower blades and filters. I had to guess. The service department is not open on Saturdays so you can't get engine parts for the mower or weed whackers. I called Monday morning with the fuel pump I need in my hand. I did not have the model and serial number with me at work. The service department told me with out those numbers they were too busy to look up the part to see if it was in stock. I had the actual Briggs and Stratton part in my hand with the numbers on it. I called Chadwicks and he took five minutes and looked it and they have one. They have the weed wacker parts I need also. Guess where I go from now on for All my needs. I even bought the mower at Rogers. They were too busy. Must be nice. read more
