As I was looking at a sad pile of wood a worker quickly told me to go down the next aisle & off to the left was a fresh batch. Found 3 great fence posts not warped & no cracks all for $11. Five days ago, I purchased an air conditioner (bought online) at Home Depot. The one shipped was neither the same model, nor the correct color that I ordered. Plus, the one they sent was so noisy, it sounded exactly like a jackhammer on concrete! So. . . yesterday I returned it -- to the Home Depot store at 3639 East Federal Way, per the company's own instructions. Since I reside in Mountain Home, Idaho, the closest store is the one shown above -- about a 90-mile round trip. The name of the cashier I dealt with was "Monika" (with the "k", and an accent to prove it). What "Monika" DIDN'T have was a smile -- at all. I was firm with her, but polite. I explained that, thanks to the company, I had to physically bring the unit back. I also told her -- politely but firmly -- that I wanted to speak to a manager, with the authority to give me a discount on a replacement machine. I believe most customers dislike it when the cashier they're talking with continuously interrupts them. Monika has that habit, plus no one in management has ever explained to her that calling a customer BY NAME is better than coming across as a "hey, you" type of employee. But it quickly became apparent that her interruptions are her way of "cutting short" her dealings with customers. She clearly wasn't interested in where I lived, how much previous business I'd given them (a lot!), nor in other "we care about our customers" parameters. In short, I was a "number" to her -- period. She told me to find another air conditioner. Then (and only then) would she contact a manager to see IF that manager would authorize a discount. I told her that there "was no 'IF' in the equation. I wanted at least the amount in diesel fuel it cost me to go there -- because the mistake was on them. Bottom line: She clearly didn't care if I walked or not. And it appeared it the company's management didn't think it worth their time to come talk to me, that put me back into the air conditioner market. Therefore, (a) they had to pay for a return . . . (b) lost any chance of a replacement sale . . . (c) seriously ticked off a long-time repeat customer . . . (d) lost a great deal of repeat business . . . and (e) made it possible for YOU to read this! This was once a great company with exceptional customer service. Now? Great self - serve, but if you need something go elsewhere. Another retail establishment who's management doesn't realize they need staff to help customers if they want to make money. i stopped in here to pick up a ryobi sliding compound mitre saw 7 1/4" for my brother for Father's Day. The Home Depot said they had 5 in stock, but upon looking, none "on the floor". also i stop a worker (kenny) who is breaking down displays. A nice enough chap, scans the barcode, yup, they have 5 in stock, tells me to give him 5 minutes to get it down. i shop around, come back, 10 minutes later, no kenny & saws still on top shelf. 5 minutes later i see kenny blocking the aisle (for the fork), then disappears again - seeing him someone, guess doesn't operate the fork. no one at customer service to ask, kinda of makes you wonder if they really want to make a sale). 30 minutes later - OMG, really??? i almost walked out !! read more

This has to do with being aware, specifically for Stevie (a head cashier) I happen to not be white. When someone like myself goes through self checkout. Meaning I check myself out and you proceed to come over and scan everything for me, meanwhile there are two white people in self checkout prior to me stepping up and your not so helpful with them. It feels and appears to someone like myself like your racist and racial profiling. By all means this could be a mistake on your part but when I went in and all checkout's were full, everyone white using them you were not helping them checkout. I want you to know that not every brown person is up to no good and some of us like myself are working and everything I'm buying is going on a commercial account that does just over 1 million dollars a year with Homedepot. Today my wife went to this location in search of paint for a project she has. Shes not a professional painter. She asked for assistance and rather than be helpful, the guys who work there were condescending. They laughed at her because she didn't know the proper terminology. Isn't that their job? On her way out they said "Try not to work too hard" as they continued to laugh. We shop there often but now we'll make the drive to Lowe's. read more

It's been a struggle to say the least‍ we ordered an upright freezer in October with the promise of delivery by Halloween. Started getting emails that delivery was delayed and delayed and delayed. Canceled that one and ordered another one that was "confirmed on the truck" for delivery in two days. That was a while ago. I have to say that Tim, the appliance manager and Roderick, the customer order specialist stuck with us through it all. Hubby happened to stop in there this morning and they had a freezer. Granted it wasn't the one we ordered or wanted but at this point, I just want all the homemade spaghetti sauce I made in October out of my friends freezer I'm aware that many things are being delayed so I truly appreciate these guys sticking with us and I'm very grateful to have a brand new freezer sitting in our garage read more

I've been shopping at this Home Depot for 10 years and have always had good experiences. Today I encountered the most ridiculously rude customer service associate named "Janeen" who had an edge the entire time I was trying to return several items from an online purchase. It started with barking at me about separating items that were from two different orders. Then when I wanted to return/cancel a bathtub that never arrived (has been lost by Home Depot for two months...never arrived) her response was "that's not my fault..." It doesn't matter whose fault it is, I just want to return it/cancel it...? That's what I said to her. And the proper response might be more like "I'm sorry that happened." When she still gave me an attitude, I asked to speak to a manager. She then told me I had been "rude from the beginning" and turned to a coworker to complain about my request to speak to a manager, right in front of me. Nice touch. No manager responded to assist. She did get my MIA tub refunded. Kudos for that. She pointed out that it didn't take as long as I thought it would. 12 minutes vs the 5 she said it would take. I won't shop at this Home Depot anymore. I'm sort of fed up with crappy customer service. I get having a bad day. But if you work in customer service by choice (literally at the customer service desk...) you ought to have a customer service attitude. read more

I was in the area looking for a new medicine cabinet. After searching Bed, Bath, & Beyond (fyi--they don't carry medicine cabinets with mirrored fronts), I came next door to The Home Depot. Of course, they had a multitude of mirrored medicine cabinets of several sizes with frames of varying stains. They had ones with shelves, without shelves, tri-open, bi-open, they even had one that brushed your teeth for you. Kidding. But, you get the gist--selection! The store was well laid out and organized. We also checked out their holiday decoration section while we were in (splendid) as well as their indoor electric fireplaces (because, it's currently 23 degrees outside and it seemed like the thing to do), of which they have many. Since we had such luck with the medicine cabinet, we decided to see if they had a coordinating free standing shelving unit for over the loo--no such luck (but, fyi--Bed, Bath, & Beyond DID have this item). The aisles are wide and the whole store felt spacious. The workers were the usual level of Home Depot helpful. I'd definitely be back were I in the area and in need. Get to it! read more

My partner and I had been shopping a few weeks looking for a new washer and dryer! We had come into this Home Depot about a week earlier and were greeted with amazing customer service. Dave in the appliances knows his stuff. Super helpful in answering all of our questions and we never once felt rushed or like we were shoppinf for appliances, If anything I felt pretty relaxed and was genuinely enjoying myself and talking to Dave. We came back about a week later and were greeted by Brittany (Spelling?) in the appliances section. From start to finish throughout the entire transaction she was so, SO amazing! She went out of her way multiple times calling other stores, checking on coupons, it was evident that she really does care and that came through. I purchased an Anderson a series door not a cheep price and after 7 visits and the need for reorders because of poor installation practices I still have yet to hear anything from this poor excuse for a business do not get Anderson windows or doors through Home Depot they do not know how to install them and it will cost you more. Never enough employees on the floors in any section. I always have to go searching for someone to help (of all the stores to not have people available to help) and often when I find someone, they are short with me and rude and act like they would rather be doing anything else but helping me. We went here about 6:30 pm. Went through the garden department looking for soaker hides. The first thing I noticed was the cashier didn't have a mask on (we did). Then about 4 other customers weren't wearing masks either. No physical distancing either. This really upset me, so we went down to Fred Meyers in the same complex. I've got to say that this Home Depot is without a doubt my favorite home improvement store. I had an addition framed in 5 years ago and have done all the rest of the work DIY style. The staff is friendly and very knowledgeable and will always let you bounce ideas off of them and either take you to the products you need or offer alternative options based on their experience. Even if you have no idea what you are doing, there is generally someone in every department that has professionally worked in the field of the area they are working for the Home Depot. Bottom line I have spent nearly $60,000 in this Home Depot over the last 6 years building, remodeling, laying concrete, masonry, electrical, gardening etc... If you want to do it yourself go there first and save yourself some time by having your questions written out before you go (this saves multiple trips) and you'll get the help you need. read more

My mom ordered several large tool chests to be delivered (as a gift to my dad who works overseas) and she had them sent to the store, not realizing that they were so large and she and I would be unable to get them home. One of the store's assistant managers picked them up for us on his day off with a friend and delivered them in his pick up himself. This Home Depot dealt with our business very poorly. We ordered flooring on the 24th and were told both verbally and on paper that our order would be ready for pick up on the 29th. So with that, we ripped up our old flooring and took that week off of work unpaid in preparation for our DIY installation. No one from Home Depot ever called us to tell us that it was back ordered so we came in to pick it up on the 29th and it wasn't there. They told us that it wouldn't be in for another 2 and a half weeks. We talked to Doug, a very kind and helpful guy in flooring, who said his manager Bree would call us the next day to help us out, but she never called us. So my husband went in to talk to her in person. She said she'd call the distributor and get back to us the next day, but once again, never called us back. We were kind and patient with everyone we talked to but made sure to express our concerns and situation. Bree was rude and short with us whenever we'd talk to her on the phone or in person. She finally called us Friday, after she talked to the distributor and said that it was ready to ship but she didn't know the exact ship date, and would let us know on Tuesday, but of course, she never called us on Tuesday. Someone in customer service finally called us on Wednesday to let us know that our flooring was in. Since Bree was rude and unhelpful, I called the store manager, Life. But unfortunately just like Bree, he was also rude, unhelpful, and didn't seem to care at all about our situation, us as people, us as new homeowners or us as valued customers. We understand that delays happen but the customer service we received from these two mangers was completely unprofessional. We definitely won't be shopping at this Home Depot again and will do the rest of our home upgrades through Lowes. read more

I reviewed this store last year. I have returned to the store and there has been a sea change! Lots of customer service people and a friendly attitude. Wow! My old review appears below: Terrible service. I spent fifteen minutes looking for a shut off valve. I finally found someone in the plumbing department who was happy to give me a wise crack answer. He then took me over to the plumbing expert who was deep in conversation with another "associate". The expert reluctantly broke off his chat with the other associate to help me. I got my valve and went to the front desk to talk to the manager about my experience. He seemed to think it was amusing as he couldn't wipe the smirk off of his face. He offered me a discount. Apparently, he thought I was mining my poor experience for a couple of dollars off retail. Some managers just don't get it. They don't think the in store experience matters. "Poor service is fine. If they complain, give them a couple of bucks off and they'll be happy". I live in Portland and there are two Home Depots near me (and a Lowe's). The service at the Home Depots there could be a great example for this site. BTW, I declined the discount. read more

DO NOT go through this Home Depot for projects you have. I ordered a front door from them the last week of July this year. Had them come measure immediately and ordered the door by the first week of August. They said it would take two weeks from ordering to install and I stressed that that timeline was important because we currently have a hollow core front door that has a half inch hole between the door and seal letting all air and heat out. We were jerked around for a month and a half whenever we called to check the status, sent to multiple different departments that couldn't help, and could never get straight answers on the status of our door. When it finally arrived to be installed after supposedly being in their quality control check for two weeks it was in awful condition with dents and scratches and had obviously been spot painted to cover things (the color didn't match). When we rejected it they said they would order a replacement expedited so it would be another two weeks. It has now been four months and we still have no door. read more

I had to return a defected item but was bought on the purchase order that was recorded in the store.  I did not have the receipt, but they said they could look it up from the order.  The manager was asked to help and explained.  He asked if I had a receipt and I said no, but we could look from the purchase order.  Then he said he could not do it without a receipt but then I said he could look up with the purchase order.  Then he said you did tell about the purchase order, everyone just stopped.  But during that time I was looking threw my receipts, just in case I had it... he told me to throw those receipts away because it does not help.  I responded that I did not like how he was treating me and then I became straight forward with him.  Then the assistant manager took care of it when he arrived.  I complain to the assistant manager about how I was treated and he said he was at the desk all the time, but he was not, and nothing was done.  This is not topical of this location but shows the management is poor as I had been hearing from employees.  Employees could not believe it as I am at that location a lot and they know me. read more

Zero stars! Purchased a stackable washer/dryer on aug 5th , delivery was set for aug 10th. Delivery was on time but as the dryer was unloaded they saw that it had been damaged . They set the washer in my laundry room but did not hook it up and they said I would get a call about when a new dryer would be delivered . 4 days later finally got the call but was told dryer would not be delivered for another week . Spent almost $1600 and today I am having to wash and dry my clothes at a laundromat . New dryer supposed to come on the 21st , but who knows . At this point I will NEVER purchase anything from Home Depot again. Customer service for this purchase has been atrocious . They had no issues taking my money Day 1 of purchase but it will be 16 days ( hopefully) until I can use my washer/dryer. School starts on Monday so laundry couldn't wait 16 days. I am beyond disappointed . Next time I will be going to Costco ! read more

DO NOT trust the delivery and install service from this Home Depot. We bought a washer and dryer from this Home Depot. When the deliverers came to drop it off, we signed for delivery when they arrived but as they were installing the appliance, they rammed something into the dryer, resulting in a very large dent in our brand new machine. When we called Home Depot to tell them what happened, assuming they would pick the dented dryer up and replace it because the delivery guys were the ones that dented it, they told us we'd have to pay $150 for a "re-stocking fee" AND we would have to bring the dryer back on our own or there would be even additional charges. Apparently, because we had already signed the delivery paperwork, anything after that was not Home Depot's fault. The front line sales person we talked to was great and really tried to get this fixed but his manager would not remedy the situation. We are now stuck with a very large dent in our dryer, with no way to get a new one without spending even more money. Legally, they were in the right, but we did not feel valued as customers. Never buying from them again. read more

We have been going regularly since buying an older home that needs work on everything from flooring, paint, fixtures, switches, and lighting. We have found knowledgeable staff to help with everything we needed. They are always willing to go the extra mile for you as well- checking inventory, calling other stores, and offering to call us when parts came in. Awesome! read more

I'm not one to give bad reviews or even complain for that matter, especially about a place like Home Depot. But this location has really got to step up their customer service. It's pretty bad. I've been here 5 or 6 times the past week and each encounter I've had with employees has been ridiculous. I usually think it's going to be different each time I've gone in. Rude people unwilling to help or even acknowledge that you're there waiting for assistance. And when they do finally "assist", it's always bare minimum, falls flat, and seems half-hearted. I find myself going across town to the Lowe's on Overland or the other Home Depot on Milwaukee just so I can get a better experience. It's a shame because I live so close to this Home Depot, but if their employees aren't trained properly or even try to be nice and helpful, I don't want to continue going here. I'm sure there are some great employees here, but I have yet to run into one. read more

The store has always been fair on service but over the last year the plumbing department service sucks no one is there most of the time some of the building materials need to be kept up and on hand such as 6x6 beams And why don't they carry Non paper faced insulation any more the paper back is not prefered by this contractor or needed.Fred Myers has a better auto department lowes has a better variety of construction materials lately and better service. The choices of seeds for gardens -air loom etc is great this year. One last note The music that I have heard in a few of the home depot stores the last seven months or so has been so distracting and distasteful and repeated over and over that it really distracts me and other from concentrating on putting orders together. In most cases I can't wait to get out of the store. What happened to the classic rock or oldies .Even elevator music would be better . Paint department is the best . I will give 5 stars to this Home Depot for a few reasons. Number one, there's always help nearby... All you have to do is walk around the corner or down an aisle and you'll see an associate, more than willing to help you! I don't want to discredit the other reviews, but I've been here 20+ times and not even once have I had an issue with receiving the proper help or guidance. Number two, the store is clean and well organized. Product is easily found. Number three, on my last visit I stopped in to purchase some paint. Well, I underestimated the price of paint for the job I had to tackle... I was a dollar and some change short, as I only brought $40 to spend (thinking my budget would be plenty.) I was at the self checkout, there were people behind me in line, and I was short... The lovely clerk whose name I don't remember, went to work on finding me just enough change to complete the payment and send me on my way to start my project. I wish I had remembered her name! She wrote it on the receipt at my request, but I lost it. I thanked her generously and she acted as if it was no big deal. It was her pleasure to be of service to me. That is the kind of experience one looks for when shopping! Humble humility, understanding, and great service. 5 stars for federal way! read more
