The store part sucks but the kids in the install bay really go out of their way to do a great job. They assist in picking the correct equipment and take their time with the installs. They provided the worst customer service experience I have ever received. I've been a avid customer for almost 30 years. ILL NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH BEST BUY AGAIN! Over the last 3 days I've purchased 7 items from Best buy online, all black Friday deals, all with my best buy credit card. Most of the item were in store pick ups. I hadn't picked any of it up. Only one item had a payment plan of 12 month 0% financing. I called customer service to ask if they could consolidate the other 6 purchases to exceed the $499 and get the 18 month 0% financing. The foreign agent misunderstood and canceled all purchases. Unfortunately the item with the 12 month financing was no longer on sale for $299 but now was $524. I was on the phone with them for 2 hours and they were never able to fix there mistake. read more

I have been pretty happy with Best Buy the last few months. Maybe it is their new counter setup or maybe they are full staffed but they have been consistently great. The "Best Buy Total" plan for $179.00 has blown me away. I knew I was in the market for several Apple products this year. The Best Buy Total membership covers free 2-day shipping, exclusive access to sales, events and products, extended 60-day return window on most products, protection plans, including AppleCare+* (worth it just for this!!), 24/7/365 tech support and price match for 60 days (I think it is 60 which might be the Best Buy norm and have nothing to do with the "total" membership, not sure...). I bought an iPad, iPhone, and new Mac the last few months and just alone the "total" membership was paid for between a single price match (I got 70 dollars back on my iPad a month after I bought it) and Apple care coverage. If you plan to buy a few things at Best Buy during the duration of a year, this membership will pay for itself and additional money in your pocket. Just to make sure you extra, extra understand the value... I also received 60 dollars back on my iPhone (and Apple care) and now I am watching Mac prices to see if prices will drop in the next 60 days and Apple care was covered (that is close to $200.00 just for that!). If you play your cards right, this is an amazing deal! I have also been impressed when I go in for a price match how helpful people have been. Outside of the "total" membership, the staff have been extremely patient and helpful with my questions and with my purchases. I want to add that I do not like crowds so I pick the time I visit Best Buy strategically, I don't go on weekends and/or I go about an hour or two before closing. Whatever the motivation of Best Buy's executives, it falls far short at management level here. I had a problem to resolve regarding the store and this young female manager gives me a good case of attitude, annoyed because I interrupted her paperwork as she sat on a stool just inside the front entrance. While the paperwork she was obsessed with might be important, it doesn't pay the bills: I do, and while my business there doesn't involve six-figure purchases, I believe that I should be accorded a modicum of respect. Acting annoyed because I need to speak with a manager contradicts the concept of customer service -- if not the spirit. Best Buy has been bleeding red ink in this day and age of internet sales, its brick-and-mortar stores are populated with a minimum of employees and wait times are significant. In addition to long waits in line to pay for merchandise, you have to go through the gauntlet of upsells at the cash register: want to become a premium member? Get our credit card? Buy an extended warranty? Do we have your phone number? What's your email address? Want to be part of our rewards program? No, I want to pay cash for this and get out of here. (Use a credit card and you're bombarded by emails and notifications of all their great sales they have every day.) While I was willing to wait until this individual finished whatever task was so pressing, I'm not a schoolchild who deserves scolding because I'm an annoyance; her rudeness was not necessary, appropriate, or appreciated. Being curt, rude, and arrogant with me does not fulfill ANY customer service precept I've ever heard of. What gladiator academy did she get her training in? And, to be frank, their prices are moderately high and most of their sales involve their loss-leader merchandise. If I didn't 't have to be in the store, I wouldn't be. I went to Best Buy on Sat Feb 15 to purchase a cable f or an old dvd player and a universal remote. I asked gentleman when I walked in the door for help and he took me over to a group of guys, there may have been about six of them there all chatting with one another. I'm a very friendly person so big smile and I need some help. One of them step forward and I told him what I needed and honestly, it was as if I was having to pull teeth. He broke away from the group reluctantly and took me over to the cables, his tone was like I was the most boring person on the planet, and I was interrupting his life. Came to Best Buy to get a specific mouse pad from a specific company. First gentleman who helped us picked out a pad that wasn't the brand we wanted pretty much handed it to us and walked off. We had to hunt down another person to help us. this guy took us to a completely different side of the store and told us these are the only mouse pads he has even though we tried to show them on the website. They had this one in stock and he walked off so we had to wander around the store for 30 minutes until we finally found it ourselves. First the good comment - the staff in the store are uniformly friendly, knowledgeable and very helpful. In our case James and Thomas were superb in assisting us with concluding our recent experience (we cancelled our order). Now the bad - some corporate genius decided to wall off all BB stores with a phalanx of call centers - all apparently not located on this continent. It is literally impossible to call into the store. The only master competency the call centers bring to the table is obfuscation. Our dilemma was a mirror of previous critiques of home delivery. We were given a delivery window of 0700-1900. Attempts to narrow that down on day of delivery yielded everything from "no deliveries to your number show up in our system" to "we're positive it will be there NLT 1900". The next day (after no delivery nor even a call to giving an update) a call to the delivery number got us a "it was supposed to be delivered yesterday and I have no further information". Thus came the attempt to call the store - see above. The young lady at the call center refused to connect us with the store but bizarrely she did volunteer to place us on hold and liaison with the store on our behalf. This finally resulted in them arranging to cancel our order BUT we had to go back to the store in 48hrs to consummate the cancellation. Plenty of other outlets supply the same services without having to navigate a corporate -level contempt for customers. read more

Bought a television and sound bar from Best Buy and also paid for the installation service. This was in the first week of December. I told them that it had nothing to do with Christmas, so don't overload their people with delivery and set up if they were busy. But Best Buy said we can deliver it next week. I said OK. So delivery was scheduled for December 11 sometime between 7 and 7. I waited and waited and waited. Finally, at 7:30 I called Best Buy, told them they had not come and had not even given me the consideration of a phone call. They said that, due to weather, they were not delivering that day. I don't live that far from Huntsville and we weren't getting anything but an occasional light rain but, OK. They rescheduled delivery for the 15th. After waiting most of the day, they called and said they would have to reschedule - again. So the new delivery date was the 18th. On the 18th, they called just before 7 PM and said they would have to reschedule. I said stop. I want to know what's going on. They said that they did not actually have the television in the store, so they couldn't deliver it. Okay, first they scheduled a delivery even though they didn't actually have the product yet. Then they lied to me and said they didn't deliver it due to weather, which was sunny, but really wasn't all that bad. Then they scheduled deliver two more times when they still didn't have the product yet so they could deliver it. And now they want to schedule again when they have no idea whether they will have it yet for that date. And in the meantime, I'm stuck, from 7 to 7, waiting for them and wondering if they'll ever show up or even call me before I'd waited most, or all of the day. I resisted making another appointment, but relented when they offered one after the turn of the year. I checked before the new scheduled date of January 4 and they did have the set. But they didn't have the sound bar. They offered to bring the set on January 4 and then bring the sound bar when it came in. That time, they did what they said, and the installation people were great. A week later they called and said they had the sound bar. They scheduled the delivery and installation date. Again, I waited all day, and then at 7:30 PM, called them to ask what happened. The man was knowledgeable and helpful. He found that it had been scheduled, but never staged for it to be loaded and delivered. It was still at the store. He notified the 3rd party vendor that was supposed to deliver it to ask if it was even on their ticket to deliver it, and if so, why they didn't ask about it, and why they didn't call me. He also notified Best Buy to tell them to reschedule it. It never got rescheduled. Several calls later, I found out that they couldn't schedule it for delivery until they changed its status in the computer. No one in Huntsville has done that. It is still gathering dust in their store. I finally had enough and told them to keep the sound bar and refund my money for the sound bar and the installation. In all of those calls, I could never talk to the store directly. The computer answers the call, wants to know what it's about, and then redirects me to another state, or sometimes another country. The last call, they told me to drive to the store. I said I would not drive over an hour to the store to tell them to reschedule it. I wanted my money back. At first they told me I had to drive to the store for that. I convinced them that that was not going to happen, but that I would get my money back. They were happy to take the money, but they never delivered the product or the service, and they lied to me repeatedly. I will never buy anything from Best Buy again. There are others out there that sell everything that Best Buy sells and since Best Buy apparently is not interested in its customers, I'll do my business with someone else. read more

I ordered a washer and it kept getting delayed took over 2 months to get. Then once I got it it was defective only did one cycle with out erroring out. Only worked on small loads. Had tech come out and tech told me that unit needed replaced and he would take care of it. Waited 2 1/2 weeks nothing from store. Called customer service that had no record from tech that came out and would not help me. After 2 hours of arguing with customer service I gave up and went to local store spent another 45 minutes there trying to get the issue fixed. Today I went to Best Buy to get a power strip, $19.99 not to bad. I had three certificates one for $5 one for $10 and one for $20. I thought I'd use up my certificates since they will expire, so I threw in a $15 dollar gift card. First they said you can't buy a gift card with their certificates kinda lame. So I said scratch the gift card. Then they say you can't use only part of a gift card to I own them $5.29 so I paid and left and started to think about it. They apparently used the $10 and $5 dollar certificates and not the $20 so they made me spend even more then I needed to. Just had a washer dryer and fridge delivered with no issues. When purchasing in-store took a while for someone to finally help us check out after asking another employee to get someone. We got to the store 30 min after opening so we expected to be "first in line" but no one was in the appliance department. He apologized for the wait at least. Anyways once we got help it went smooth, employee talked fast but we were all on the same page even through taking some things off our bill and swapping things around. On delivery the guys showed up within the time frame they allotted with 30 min to spare. Moved all appliances in within 10 minutes. They had excellent communication with each other as they navigated our house with no bumps. I installed myself so no insight on that part. read more

After going into the Nampa location with my sons phone and being told on Saturday they couldn't repair the phone until Sunday, it would be covered under the warranty, receiving a phone call from the Nampa store Sunday morning stating the one employee that was "apple certified" was not actually going to be in to work until Monday. We decided to make an appointment in Boise. I made the appointment, called the store, was told that yes the repair should be covered under the warranty. I received a call from Darrian who was very understanding to the situation that my son needing to get the phone repaired under warranty and needing to leave to go back out of state so it would need done today and it would happen. I explained what happened in nampa the day before hoping to speed up some of the diagnostic tests and what not that would need to happen. He told me that no, "although they are good guys- they don't know how it works and it would probably cost me about $300". We deciding to continue and go in to see if after seeing it they would come to the same conclusion that they did in Nampa. After arriving at the store and meeting Darrian he looked at the phone, took it to the back. Came back out stating that it wouldn't be covered because there was "physical damage" to the screen. My son informed him there was no damage to the screen it was the screen protector that had the minuscule chip on the corner. Darrian agreed and stated yes in that case there was no damage but they would need to do further diagnostic tests. He walked in the back again. After coming back out he informed me that there were three "points of impact" to the screen and it wouldn't be covered under the warranty. There is the aforementioned chip to the screen protector, one other even smaller more towards the top of the screen, and a small black dot in the left hand side of the screen where the display stopped all the way across the phone. (It's basically a white screen the bottom 1/3 of the screen) He is claiming that as a point of impact although there is no actual physical damage to my sons phone. He then informed me it would be $330 to proceed with a repair. I asked why they would charge me but the store in nampa won't be charging me? He said it was because they just simply do not know what they are doing there but he would be talking to his manager as he is the manager for them as well to make sure they are following the proper procedures. Ok however that isn't my problem. Why am I being charged for it? He said he can't just give away a $330 repair but would talk to his manager. Asked me how I wanted to proceed. I told him I wanted to go ahead with the repair as I didn't feel like I had a choice at that point. He started taking my information. He then told me due to Apple's warranty policy if after I pay the quoted $330, if they find other damages when they start the repair they will have to fix them as well and of course those will cost even more. So I said "I'm going to pay you $330, and could potentially end up paying even more when we come to pick it up?" He stated that yes but it wouldn't exceed $700. I started crying. Sitting in Best Buy I was visibly crying at that point. Darrien laughed and said "thanks for not shooting the messenger". As I was giving him my information to finish my son stated to me that he was fine with his phone. After feeling like Darrien exploited the time sensitive situation and making me feel completely incompetent. We told him no we wouldn't be getting it fixed there. The two small chips to his screen protector could have happened at any time and don't define any actual impact to the screen. Had we taken the screen protector off before going in I feel as though he would have came up with something else to charge us for. After working in brick and mortar retail for almost 15 years and having over 20 years in customer service Darrien isn't qualified to speak to any person let alone be a repair sales person for people in a vulnerable situation. If the manager speaks to anyone it should be him and their HR to have him terminated. read more

Avoid this place if at all possible for anything other than in-store shopping. The worst experience on my life. I ordered a high end Bosch dishwasher and had it delivered and installed. They scratched my hardwood floors so bad that I had to file an insurance claim. Their insurance company Sedgwick took my info and took my professional quote from Dillabaugh Floors to repair the damage and have never responded. It has been nearly 4 months. I have called at least 25 times and sent multiple emails to just be ignored. I am promised calls back as they "work" on the claim. I never have been called back, not once. They say it takes a week or two. We're almost at 4 months. NOTHING. Take a look at my hardwood floors and ask yourself if you want to deal with this crap. read more

I have been going to the Boise BestBuy for years, I usually make all my major appliance / electronics purchases at this location. Usually when there is a sell their prices are really good, I was looking to replace my chest freezer with an upright freezer. I went by BestBuy on July 27th, they had an Insignia 13 cubic foot upright freezer for 499.99, that was about $50.00 cheaper than anywhere else in the area. I made a few measurements and spoke to a sales associate. He said the price was good until 8/2, he also pointed to the red sales tag hanging on the door that stated sales price was good to 8/2. I thought perfect, I measured the space at my home, and it was a good fit. I headed back to Bestbuy the next day, July 28th. The Freezer still had the red sale tag on the door, but the price was now 639.99 and the sale still was stated to end on 8/2 I asked a different sale associate what gives and he said they didn't control the prices, it was all done by corporate. He asked if by chance had taken a picture of the sales tag as proof of the $499.99 price from the day before. I had not, shame on me, lesson learned. I asked to speak to a manager about the issue. The manger was extremely helpful, NOT! He said that if I wanted it at that price, I should have bought it yesterday. That was all the help I was given, and he walked away. I was more than a little pissed, so I headed over to Lowes, they had the similar sized garage ready upright freezer for $550.00. Some of the displays in other electronics sections were broken. A lot of the cameras had dirty screens, with crusty lenses. I almost didn't want to handle them. Cmon guys really? You have a $2600 camera on display and it's never been cleaned. Not to mention it's hard to find someone to answer a question. Whatever....come back two days later decide to spent $1200 on a camera. I know what I want I'm committed. I just need someone to open the locked case. Someone...Anyone...Bueller?? Walk around half the store looking for anyone available. FINALLY someone in a black shirt. "Ask the guy in the blue shirt". I ask guy in blue shirt. "Let me get someone to open the case I can't". Wait 10 minutes. Nothing. At this point....are you kidding me? I'm about to get this thing Amazon Primed as I'm standing there waiting. Finally another blue shirt I can ask. Get the camera. Purchase. Gone. But really? This was a pretty ridiculous experience. Not willing to give me a loaner, told me to use a laundromat. After a heated discussion with 2 people the manager let me buy a loaner for a week and then said I could return it (which I did). The same night there is $200 worth of pizza on the same credit card from the "Boise area". Coincidence? Or retaliation for me complaining? Bought our 4K tv from here, love it by the way. It's a decent place to get your electronics because you know you are gonna have the option to get a good warranty on it. And then you got the geek squad which is pretty dang cool, informative and they have helped us so much! I have had a couple bad experiences with employees acting annoyed of us asking so many questions, or not asking if I needed help. That was frustrating.
